Jim Manzi's "Uncontrolled"

From my book review in Taki's Magazine:
In his impressive first book, Uncontrolled: The Surprising Payoff of Trial-and-Error for Business, Politics, and Society, entrepreneur/intellectual Jim Manzi has the makings of an airport best seller in the genre of Steven Levitt’s Freakonomics and Malcolm Gladwell’s Blink. Indeed, Uncontrolled is far more reliable than those two sometimes-dubious tomes.

Read the whole thing there, where I discuss what, exactly, is wrong with the social sciences.

Here is Manzi, blogging at Megan McArdle's blog about what to expect when you run your start-up. I was never a part of a start-up or plan to join one in the future but I found it interesting. Certainly more real and down to earth than Paul Graham's bloviations.

It is rich that Slate airbrushed Commissars Levitt & Sailer out of the HTML (Elspeth Reeve would call that "a typo")

Must have been recent, you were both there earlier last year when I read that page.

A lot of old Slate articles are now listed as by "author". It's presumably some technical issue from updating their site.
