Just as bad as Phelphs himself was one of his lieutenants - either his daughter or daughter-in-law, I believe. From what I remember, the women in the clan seemed to take the lead; the men all seemed whipped.<br /><br />Theroux insinuated to one of the family that Phelp's act had a whiff of "doth protest too much" and wondered if he wasn't compensating for latent homosexuality. I know it's a common charge laid at the feet of anyone who disagrees with the homosexual agenda, but in such an extreme case as Phelps, perhaps it wasn't so unreasonable.<br /><br />Theroux's documentaries on Africa were also quite good.
