"Sicko"

Anybody know how I can see the new Michael Moore health care documentary by this weekend (without being in NYC, where it's playing in one theatre)?

Here's my 2004 AmCon review of his "Fahrenheit 9/11."

  1. Download it via Bittorrent (http://bittorrent.com for a program that will allow you to do this, then download it here: http://www.mininova.org/tor/756468 ).

I make no warranties or allowances for the legality of doing this.

  2. "I don’t agree with the copyright laws and I don’t have a problem with people downloading the movie and sharing it with people,” said Moore when asked about pirating. “I make these books and movies and TV shows because I want things to change, so the more people that get to see them the better, so I’m happy when that happens. I think information and art, ideas should be shared."

    That's a real version.

Install peer guardian or some such though and be careful if you're not using a proxy. There is some heat on this release because it was leaked so early.

And, I'll apologize beforehand, you were obviously asking about a special media review screening so it was wrong of me to suggest this.

Why ... yes ... that was obviously what I was asking about. While I'm shocked, SHOCKED at your thoughtlessness, I'll try to find it in my heart to forgive you.

  5. If you're writing a column, there is a surprising amount of good material at youtube. "Sicko" is the obvious search, but...

If you're willing to wade through the tall grass though, I'll bet that this link will best help you find the void he's attempting to fill:

  6. 1. Just because Michael Moore doesn't care if you pirate his movie does not mean the studios and distributors don't care.

    2. PeerGuardian does not work. Do not trust it.

    3. Using bittorrent to download an unreleased movie has to be the single most likely activity to get you nailed for copyright infringement possible.

    Good luck, Steve.

Michael Moore: because Europeans don't mind a fat, loudmouthed and ignorant American when he agrees with them.

  7. Michael Moore after folks started downloading:

"Every filmmaker intends for his film to be seen on the big screen. This wasn't a guy taking a video camera into a theater. This was an inside job, a copy made from a high-quality master and could potentially impact the opening weekend boxoffice. Who do you think benefits from that?"

    The videos were soon pulled.

  8. single most likely activity

"Most likely" does not mean likely. How many people has the MPAA sued out of the tens (possibly hundreds) of millions of people who have downloaded movies?

  9. Harvey Weinstein is after people who attempt to download the video by finding it on certain sites. So, yes, Bittorrent or another P2P would be the safter way to go, though I doubt it is legal.
