Working for The Clampdown

From my new VDARE.com article:

Why did so many so enthusiastically sign up as auxiliaries of the Thought Police to hound James Watson, who is perhaps America's most distinguished man of science?

Because it's fun.

The psychology of those who rushed to attack Watson was memorably outlined in Orwell's 1984, when the interrogator O'Brien explains to his prisoner Winston Smith the exciting future envisaged by the Party:

"Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever. …The heretic, the enemy of society, will always be there, so that he can be defeated and humiliated over again. … The more the Party is powerful, the less it will be tolerant: the weaker the opposition, the tighter the despotism. Goldstein and his heresies will live for ever. … Always we shall have the heretic here at our mercy, screaming with pain, broken up, contemptible—and in the end utterly penitent, saved from himself, crawling to our feet of his own accord."

  1. Steve, you're onto something in outing the Righteous Right. It seems to have something to do with Evangelicalism's influence on the "right." Witness this commentary on Watson in Christianity Today: http://blog.christianitytoday.com/ctliveblog/archives/2007/10/dazed_by_dna.html Among bogeymen cited are Margaret Sanger and Hitler. Then Intelligent Design advocate William Dembski is cited, heralding an inevitable return to the evils of eugenics. At least one commenter takes them to task on the science of it all. Perhaps Mencius Moldbug is correct about elites' adherence to Universalism as a kind of atheistic theocracy. http://unqualified-reservations.blogspot.com/

  3. The pressure on the anti-Western 1960's Marxist counter-revolution is finally building to a head. The Marxists only viable strategy is to shut down debate. And now people are resisting. They are choosing sides. And that is putting certain neocons on the spot. There is an extremely informative thread at LGF i.e. neocon central. It is a must read:

    Vlaams Belang and Vlaams Blok

The 1000+ comments there take a while to load in the browser. But it is worth the read. Read it and find out who exactly stands for what.

That thread at LGF is in response to the vicious bloody leftwing violence (metal pipes) against lawful demonstrators in Denmark:

Murder attempts on SIOE/SIAD Denmark leader and members

But is Charles Johnson (owner of LGF) upset over the leftist violence? Nope. He doesn't see Stalinists. He sees the victims as Nazi collaborators and he sees them everywhere. He - who in my opinion has operated as a transparent neo-leftist for years - is out hunting for Nazi connections. The victims bloodied in the photos were traveling to a protest against the Islamization of their society.

In a commentary the Belgian Paul Belien asks if perhaps we are all Nazis now? And the answer is, yes, in certain people's minds. We have always been Nazis in need of comprehensive social controls.

    Are We All Nazis Now?

We should all be keeping track of how many college campus speakers are being shouted down by leftwingers across the USA. How far away are we from violent beatings? We who dare speak out in America?

  4. Correction: I just realized that the SIOE group that got beaten up badly by leftist thugs is something apart from Vlaams Belang brouhaha. They are in Denmark and Vlaams is in Belgium.

The long LGF thread is about some videos by made by VB and not the Danish SIOE. I was so angry after checking the link at post #288 by commenter buzzdroid that I assumed the rest of the thread was about the real instance of the actual physical attack that had taken place in Denmark. But the later discussion returns to the VB nazi linkage.

My mistake. I guess I'm more sensitive to actual documented bloody leftwing beatings than the LGFers.

  5. why, i wonder, with this eternal nazi obsession,do the Arabs get a pass for their wartime alliance with the Nazis(Sadat, Nasser, the Grand Mufti, Bosnian Muslim Waffen SS)? is it as simple as muslims=oppressed people=objectively progressive?

  6. I'm reminded of a quote by James Fitzjames Stephens:

The punishment of common crimes, the gross forms of force and fraud, is no doubt ambiguous. It may be justified on the principle of self-protection, and apart from any question as to their moral character. It is not, however, difficult to show that these acts have in fact been forbidden and subjected to punishment not only because they are dangerous to society, and so ought to be prevented, but also for the sake of gratifying the feeling of hatred—call it revenge, resentment, or what you will—which the contemplation of such conduct excites in healthily constituted minds. If this can be shown, it will follow that criminal law is in the nature of a persecution of the grosser forms of vice, and an emphatic assertion of the principle that the feeling of hatred and the desire of vengeance above-mentioned are important elements of human nature which ought in such cases to be satisfied in a regular public and legal manner.

Most countries worldwide just saw the Nazis in the light of Germany's historical position. Just one person in the world was George Orwell in 1942, and understood exactly what was ideologically transpiring. To leaders in the Middle East, Britain was the "bad," colonial power, and supporting Germany was ostensibly in their interests, although Germany, in actuality, might have rolled the Panzers on down Arabia-way circa 1948, had they won. Many peoples also hated the Jews, so hearing about the institutionalization of European anti-semitism was just gravy, even if we consider that facet of Nazi-identification as kosherly "bad." With superior Jewish economic performance, their presence is always an ugly blight on nation-cults based on enshrining an ethnic tribal essence; so yes, that is bad. They were hairs in the fascist soup. Maybe you know all that, of course, but I'm just sick of all of the questionable lenses people examine WW2 with, maybe you are too (i.e., a "pass," culpability in many instances).

I've come into contact with "oppressed people"s professor-type liberals, who have necessarily been smoking more pot since September 11, to make up for the fact their positions are increasingly incoherent and irrelevant. Some of them presume to watch the evil linguistic "orientalism" of debates, or adopt sinister 9/11 conspiracy theories (sort of like those fascists needed to oust the Jews just to smooth out their meager worldview.) I'm sure some universities are liberal nightmares right now, depending on who you talk to you might see the influence, but some of these suckers are going more cold-realist (like us), others are getting shriller, all without much reading or study on the matters at hand. I was happy to see a professional Lacanian publicly surrender to Evolutionary Psychology in New York! If you see any, be sure to hit them with a dozen things their outlook isn't ready for, and watch their brains start to give out, like Captain Kirk used to do to those alien computers. "What is love?" "CANNOT COMPUTE! WE ARE NOMAD!" The show's the thing.

Overall, I get sucked into PC liberal bashing, but let's not forget how feeble they are. The only place they're holding the bulwarks is this race thing, and there not because of their influence but because of the catastrophic cognitive dissonance nobody's ready for. Wipe them off the map, entirely, everybody else still isn't ready for this. The efforts gone into fighting racism have been mighty indeed, it's probably the most widespread propaganda campaign OF ALL TIME, and it's been going on thirty-five years. And...it was a good campaign! I'd say it largely succeeded in "raising people's consciousness," i.e. wrecking the soil for the easily-learned, classical "racism." An unintended byproduct, now, is what we see in this Watson business.

  8. It seems like this is another thing to add to the list of, "you know you are a neocon if..."

With the slamming of the Mearsheimer/Walt book and now the 'almost' complete silence about Watson, it seems like the National Review is now part of the neocon network.

The real question is what conservative magazines/groups are not neocon? I think the list would be pretty short.

  9. What do LGM make of this attempted cooperation with the Nazis, as recorded by the far-from-antisemitic Wikipedia?

Lehi (Hebrew acronym for Lohamei Herut Israel, "Fighters for the Freedom of Israel"), also known as the Stern Gang, was an armed underground Zionist faction in Mandatory Palestine that had as its goal the eviction of the British authorities from Palestine to allow unrestricted immigration of Jews and the formation of a Jewish state.... On the assumption that the destruction of Britain was the Germans' top objective, the organization offered cooperation in the following terms: From the NMO side: full cooperation in sabotage, espionage and intelligence and up to wide military operations in the Middle East and in eastern Europe anywhere where the Irgun had Jewish cells, active and trained and in some places with weapons. From the German side, the following declarations and actions were demanded: (1) Full recognition of an independent Jewish state in Palestine/Eretz Israel (2) That the ability to emigrate to Palestine be conceded to all Jews, with no restriction of numbers, who, in leaving their homes in Europe, by their own will or because of government injunctions. For this purpose there was expressed a need to cancel any transfer plans of Jews to distant countries like Madagascar.
