Obama misspeaks (to put it mildly)

Here's the official Obama response:

"I decry racism and anti-Semitism in every form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan," Obama said in the statement. "I assume that Trumpet Magazine made its own decision to honor Farrakhan based on his efforts to rehabilitate ex-offenders, but it is not a decision with which I agree."

Obama is being more than a tad disingenuous. You can watch the three minute video tribute to Farrakhan that the Wrights posted on Youtube on 11/4/07 and see that they are praising Farrakhan to the high heavens for his stance on race in general. The smarmy lady narrator (who I would guess is Rev. Wright's daughter Jeri L. Wright, the publisher of his magazine Trumpet, who does a radio talk show with Al Sharpton) says:

"Louis X, later renamed Louis Farrakhan, chose to dedicate his life to the teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. He has been called one of the most misunderstood and misdefined leaders of our day. The Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. infers that 'When Louis Farrakhan speaks, Black America listens.' His depth on analysis when it comes to the racial ills of this nation is both astounding and eye-opening. His tremendous success is evidenced by his mosques and study groups in over 120 cities in America, Europe, the Caribbean, and missions in West Africa and South Africa devoted to the teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. His success is solidified in his ability to compel one million men to take publicly take charge of their own fate. In the words of Father Michael Pfleger, 'His leadership has evolved, and I believe the coming days will see him as a unifying force, calling real Christians, real Jews and real Muslims to come together on principles of truth and justice.'"

I don't hear the world "prisoners" or any reference to prisoner rehabilitation in the video.

Of course, the real issue is not that Obama is a follower of Farrakhan (which he isn't), it's that Obama is a follower of Wright, who thinks that Farrakhan is a great guy. And Obama doesn't address that.

  1. "Obama Lies" - original post title?

Steve, you’re getting a little too fixated on this black Chauncey Gardner character. I hope you don’t descend into the turrets posting madness that struck HalfSigma regarding his anti-Ron Paul rants.

It doesn’t appear Obama has any part in deciding who Strumpet Magazine awards as their prince among thieves. Obama shouldn’t have to apologize for what Wright’s daughter does or thinks in the inanity of her small racists mind.

This is the same fallacious “guilt by association” reasoning that HS, neocons and the MSM constantly uses to try and slander Ron Paul. Don’t let your posts sink beneath the noise level – that’s so MSM.

BTW, what makes you think Shrillary will be any better than Obama? The biggest difference I see is that Shrillary is a brought and paid for NYC neocon prop that will have our military over extended the globe to protect what they think are Israel’s interests on China’s borrowed dime. Obama is not as much a neocon pawn in this regard. They both will be dismal regarding affirmative discrimination and Supreme Court nominations.

  2. This sounds like guilt by two degrees of association. Obama himself never did anything himself that would imply support for Farrakhan, so I'm satisfied. Your concern about his association with Wright is that Wright has racialist attitudes, and here you acknowledge that Obama does not share Farrakhan's racist views.

  3. Mainline blacks hate white people,as the Duke debacle and the jena 6 fraud attest. Why does everybody pick on Farrakhan?? The NAACP is "good",even tho those corrupt fools took part in the Duke lynching(along with all the "good" black leaders, like Jackson,Sharpton, etc.) So:white people must tolerate those blacks who hate them and try to do them harm...but if one of those white-hating blacks should say anything about jews,THEN white people need to get all huffy?!?!!? "Do what you wish to me,my family and my community! But dare to criticize the beloved Jews...you're in trouble!" -Josh

  4. I'm shocked that the Ron-ulans haven't come up with a theory that Rockwell is actually a spy sent by Mossad (or whatever) to undermine Paul. It would fit.

Or maybe Rockwell contacted TNR about the newsletters because he wasn't being paid enough attention to (along the lines that you suggest that Wright has awarded a 'prize' to Farrakhan)
