More Canadian PC Wackiness

Following last week's news that one Canadian university is paying for spies to snoop on student mealtime conversations and turn them in more politically correct directions, we learn that Canadian students hardly need outside crimethink management. From Canada.com

Cystic fibrosis not 'inclusive' enough for Carleton students

OTTAWA - The Carleton University Students' Association has voted to drop a cystic fibrosis charity as the beneficiary of its annual Shinearama fundraiser, supporting a motion that argued the disease is not "inclusive" enough.

Cystic fibrosis "has been recently revealed to only affect white people, and primarily men" said the motion read Monday night to student councillors, who voted almost unanimously in favour of it. ...

During orientation week this year, Carleton students, who have raised about $1 million over the years, raised about $20,000, said foundation chief executive Cathleen Morrison, who was surprised and dismayed by the student association decision.

The rationale for dropping cystic fibrosis as the beneficiary is not correct, she said. CF is diagnosed just as often among girls as boys, although the health of girls deteriorates more rapidly, she said. It is commonly considered an illness that affects Caucasians, but that includes people from the Middle East, South America, North Africa and the Indian subcontinent.

"'Caucasian' as we understand it isn't just white people," said Morrison. "It includes people with a whole rainbow of skins."

But if it WAS just white people, then the decision to stop raising funds for CF would have been justified, right?

This reminded me of the fact that almost all leftist slogans actually mean the opposite of what they say. "Anti-racism" is really racism, democracy is really war, occupation and dictatorship, "women's liberation" is really chaining women to useless, boring jobs and making it harder for them to have families, "diversity" is really about killing our genetic and cultural diversity (think about painting: if you mix up all the colors together, you're going to get stuck with a boring, gray mass). "Social justice" is social injustice, and so on and so on. I bet the people who think up those slogans get a special glee out of calling these things the opposite of what they actually are.

  3. I want Communism back. At least when the First Secretary of the National United Workers Party droned on the television, he talked to us like we were adults.

  4. If any of those students ever decided to stop and reflect on Ms. Morrison's words, they could take an important lesson from them. There IS such a thing as the Caucasoid race. Race is not a social construct. Unless these genetic diseases have minds of their own and are using them to read evil racist literature, they're showing you something very important about the nature of humanity.

Of course none of them will learn anything from this. They will have to get out of that university and spend a decade or two out in the real world banging their heads against stubborn reality to get this.

  6. I forget when I first heard AIDS described as a "political disease", but remember immediatel thinking how apt it was.

It sucks that majority-white diseases are slated to be shoved to the margins. That means self-hatred isn't going to be remedied any time soon.

My f'n God. I read this story and got up two or three times throughout the article in disbelief.

"No, no, some non-white people come down with the disease too!"

It's just not the PC idiots, it's even the discourse of the people who disagree with them. What's happened to you, white man? The Culture of Critique theory isn't enough, there is something defective about the white race.

  8. When, exactly, is PC-ness gonna jump the shark? Was this just it? Can it get any wackier?!

  9. but how can a disease only affect people from one race (ie white people)?

don't these kids know that it's been proven that there's no such thing as race?

Perhaps when Tay-Sachs and torsion dystonia joins them, attitudes will change.

  13. My sister died from cystic fibrosis. F--- Carleton students and f--- Canada. I would love to meet one of those students, preferrably here in Texas.

  14. Ummm....was this white students voting to remove this charity?

Because if so, that is kinda going beyond bizarre and through the looking glass.

  15. Interesting quote from the article:

"Nick Bergamini, a third-year journalism student on the student council, said he was the only elected councillor present to vote against the motion. The decision is an example of campus political correctness gone too far, he said.

'They're not doctors. They're playing politics with this,' said Bergamini. 'I think they see this, in their own twisted way, as a win for diversity. I see it as a loss for people with cystic fibrosis.'"

Somebody get this dangerous fascist off the student council!! Thank god the article exposed him.

Good points! I'd say the self-righteousness is a result of the lack of irony, which is a product of not having a sense of humour. What precedes the sense of humour? Dunno, maybe not taking oneself too seriously. But then liberals are busy turning the world into paradise outsside of heaven (remember they started out by denying that heaven can only be in the afterlife - see Marx and Engels), so us fence-sitters and naysayers should give them a little more time to finish off the job.

  23. Here's why this happens.

PC is a tool for women allied with Gays to subdue socially and politically the "beta male."

Single women now outnumber married women. They are single most of their lives. The one thing single women hate most is the "beta male," or everyday, average joe. Joe the Plumber (and Sarah Palin because she married a blue collar guy) get most of the hate.

Think about it -- if you are a half-way attractive single woman, the goal in your life is to keep icky low-status "beta males" at bay and attract only the high status ones. PC never hurts the Alpha guys like Clinton, Edwards, Gavin Newsome, Tony Villaraigosa, Obama, etc. That's the whole point of PC. Clinton could grope half of Arkansas and no one cared. Arnold did the same with half of Hollywood and there was a big fuss for a while until Arnold's "Big Man" -ness asserted itself.

PC will NEVER die because it's a recipe for female (and gay) social power. Yes of course the Carleton students express the wish that the Average White guy would just die out. For women and gays, this would be the preferred goal. Beta guys go along with PC thinking it's best not to disagree with women and gays, fearing the social exclusion.

PC won't get any better, it will get worse as women become instead of married-single splits, almost completely single. Think of a nation that is half an Oprah or View audience. That's our future.

You obviously don't know what the "Culture of Critique" theory is. If you did, you would know that it presupposes that there is "something defective about the white race".

  25. And yet, HIV, breast cancer, and the like get massive dedicated efforts.

Women die of many types of cancer other than just breast cancer. The entire breast cancer awareness push is just female identity politics to keep women voting as women-victims instead of as wives, mothers or citizens.

A couple of weeks ago most of the grocery stores were flooded food products packaged in pink to show support for the "cause". Not only that but there were pink t-shirts and little pink ribbons that women could wear to show solidarity with the "cause".

It's amazing that society can put forth this much effort to celebrate unity in disease but can turn a blind eye to so many other things that are more worthy.

Well, duh. What, do you wanna actually save white people from dying or something? You probably say "white" without spitting too, you Nazi bastard.

  28. "PC won't get any better, it will get worse as women become instead of married-single splits, almost completely single. Think of a nation that is half an Oprah or View audience. That's our future."

Ah dry up. Women always got dumped on because they wanted so much to get married--man trap I believe a common term was. Then a lot of them started not to give a damn about getting married and they're the death of society.
I am not a lesbian. I am not pc. I was deeply disgusted by those goofy Canadian feminists -- it has emerged that appear to be of that strip -- biting the white, male hands that have fed them.
I knew a Candian woman (hetero) who was an english professor and bragged about women running the universities there. While I considered myself feminist by the definition of the day, that didn't sound good to me. Women "running" the universities is not better than men "running" them. I knew that at a visceral level and her complacent obtuseness baffled me.

That being said, sometimes women just don't want to marry, or it just doesn't happen. Single women aren't the problem. Married women aren't the problem. Singly and/or married men are not the problem. We are ALL the problem. Everybody.

  29. Oh, lighten up. These are 19 year olds, fer frigs sakes. At that age most folks are full of wooly headed notions of how wrong everything is and their ability to right the world's many wrongs. Were none of you ever young?

I'd be more depressed if they were holding seminars on building wealth, or running Ayn Rand study groups.
