"A lot of black women fell for Barack Obama the moment they saw his wife."

Vanessa Williams writes in the Washington Post's "Root" magazine (I'm guessing the author is a different Vanessa Williams than this former Miss America, singer, and actress):

“Hey, dark ‘n lovely!”

Gotta love the brothers who show their affection for the dark-skinned girls, even if they are hollering out the window of a passing car.

Gotta love it even more when the brother is the president, and the object of his affection is front and center for the world to see.

It’s true: A lot of black women fell for Barack Obama the moment they saw his wife.

If a black president represents change, a dark-skinned first lady is straight-up revolutionary.

I won’t apologize for taking note of Michelle Obama’s physical appearance. Plenty has already been said about how she, with her double Ivy degrees, six-figure salaries and two adorable daughters, is crushing the image of the struggling black single mother. She is a real life Clair Huxtable! But the true breakthrough here is that sisters who look like Michelle Obama seldom become cultural icons, aesthetic trendsetters—a proxy for the all-American woman.

And don’t roll your eyes and ask why we have to go there; we haven’t completely gotten over our prejudices about skin tone and hair texture. Despite years of scholarly, literary and popular debate—from Dr. Kenneth Clark’s baby-doll tests, to Toni Morrison’s tragic characters in The Bluest Eye, to the showdown between [racial term that doesn't appear in iSteve] in Spike Lee’s School Daze—too many of us continue to accept a standard of beauty that does not favor ebony-hued skin, woolly hair and full lips (and not those surgically enhanced smackers, either).

I know from first-hand experience. I remember being taunted and shunned by some people who didn’t believe that old saying about the blacker the berry. Back when we were Negroes, the word “black” was used to describe the dark-skinned among us, usually not with affection. My mama assured me that I was a pretty black girl, but it was the brothers on the streets, cooing such compliments as dark ‘n lovely, chocolate drop, brown sugar, who convinced me.

I'm not sure how to break the news to this writer, but being a good enough-looking woman to have black guys shout stuff at you while you walk by is a pretty low hurdle...

But consider the complexions of most of the black women who smile or stare seductively at the world from the covers of celebrity and beauty magazines—cream, cafĂ© au lait, golden honey. Gorgeous sisters, yes, but we come in other good flavors, too. The failure to showcase dark-skinned beauties feeds the notion that pretty black girls are an exception. Not so much dark and lovely as dark but lovely.

The light-skinned, long-hair aesthetic reigns.

I think of India.Arie’s song from a few years back.

"I’m not the average girl from your video
And I ain’t built like a supermodel
But I’ve learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen.”

An empowering anthem,

Indeed

but even Arie acknowledges that many of us who don’t look like Barbie dolls—even chocolate-coated Barbie dolls—are not convinced of our beauty.

“I don’t know if young women necessarily think that certain women they see on TV are beautiful, but they do see that certain women are financially rewarded by looking a certain way and therefore that image is reinforced,” Arie told me via e-mail. She thinks that Michelle Obama’s presence on the national stage will “jump-start the challenge of those long-held beliefs. Not only is she naturally and uniquely beautiful, but she demonstrates a great deal of poise, class and style, which I think has and will continue to help capture the nation’s attention in a positive way.”

As much as we’d like to think that everyone will be instantly enlightened, the truth is it might not have much of an immediate or noticeable impact.

Really? Ya think?

A huge amount of female journalism consists of demands that society must be reorganized so that the author is considered more sexually attractive. (This is hardly the most egregious specimen of this vast genre.)

I've always thought that Mrs. Obama was a handsome woman, who spends a lot on her four sessions with her personal trainer each week. Still, there are those expressions .... You'll definitely want to check out the expression on Mrs. Obama's face in the picture that The Root chose to illustrate Michelle's loveliness. Let's just say that when a husband sees his wife staring up at him with that expression, he knows he's in for a world of trouble.

Barack Obama's autobiography ends with his wedding to Michelle. The last line in this self-pitying book is:

"And for that moment, at least, I felt like the luckiest man alive."

The Luckiest Man Alive would seem like a pretty realistic self-description, but, judging from That Look she's apparently giving him in this picture, maybe he's not ...

  2. Michelle Obama is also pretty tall, which (from what a few black women have told me) is also a hurdle to overcome.

I think she's good-looking, but she also looks angry in nearly all the pictures I have seen of her.

Personally, I don't like Obama... not his looks, and especially not what he stands for.

Don't look now, but the UofC just eliminated the $300,000/yr position which they had created for Michelle:

    Michelle Obama’s Job Eliminated
    Chicago Daily Observer
    14 January 2009
    cdobs.com

She hasn’t shown up for work very regularly over the last year or so, so when Michelle Obama’s $300,000 job was cut at the University of Chicago Hospitals, it may have been hard to notice the difference. Crain’s skipped the part about the incoming First Lady, must have been an oversight in their expert analysis of Chicago Business, because we know Crain’s is “Not show business. All business”.

The Tribune announced the layoff without much analysis, but let the cat far enough out of the bag to prompt our Don Rose to question how important Michelle Obama’s job must have been, as it was so easily eliminated...

  4. Steve, I'm not sure that I understand why you aren't jumping for joy at the fact that Barack Obama is married to a dark-skinned African American. The more African-American men find their "sisters" attractive enough to marry and raise a family with, the better off EVERYONE is.

  5. Not good-looking at all. He should divorce Michelle and marry the R&B singer Mya, who is also Black / White biracial, ergo she too must have racial healing in her DNA.

Plus she's from Chocolate City, so he'll keep his street cred.

She graduated high school early -- probably as smart as Michelle, just minus the dopey intellectual shibboleths she picked up at the Ivies.

And he'd assuage the worries of people who think he's too radical and experimental, by having a super-feminine looking wife, rather than a glaring transvestite.

Or at least he should make her his Marilyn Monroe. The White House needs a new sex scandal!

  6. I'm not about to gush over Michelle Obama, but I find her a lot easier on the eyes than the alternative, Cindy McCain, who's about as fetching as Mrs. Bates in the fruit cellar. Cindy was one of the creepiest things about the whole John McCain package, along with his smile and weird jowls.

  10. Damn that entry was hard to read. The Idiocracy is here.

Liberal white guilt produces a nightmare society. They've ushered in that nightmare in many major American cities and now they're ready to poison our society from coast to coast via their Messiah.

The most galling aspect is the dishonesty. Same as the NeoCons the lies are of Soviet thickness and density.

Mid-40's Barack and Michelle never actually practiced law in a manner that left behind a record of legal results. Michelle was standard issue AA. But the way Barack achieved top status at Harvard Law Review without any published works of his own is flat out creepy. Simply. Cannot. Be. Done. Unless. You. Are. Black.

The media would have crucified a Republican with a transition period like this:

    Blago/Rahmbo mess.

    Richardson fiasco.

Birth certificate stonewall, academic records sealed.

Treasury nominee Geithner doesn't like to pay his taxes! (IRS is under Treasury)

And they are planning by far the most expensive inauguration ceremonies in history... in the middle of an epic national economic meltdown no less.

Think we can assume that the plan is for the next presidents after Obama to be first a woman, then a Jew, then a gay man, then an avowed atheist, and then by 2036 we'll get a Hispanic who entered the country illegally and only speaks English as a second language.

  11. Steve,

There's stuff here and psychological dynamics that even you won't touch.

For all the jealousy that stirs in the heart of non-whites over white superiority in technology and civilization building, my life experiences and understanding of human nature tell me that racial differences in physical beauty play at least as much of a part in the jealousy and wrath of the “people of color.”

  12. I'm going to put the chances of Barry O having been completely faithful to Mrs. O throughout his political rise in the 10% to 20% range.

I know, I know he's supposed to be cautious and calculating by nature, and cheating with an adoring white gal would be kind of imprudent for him at this juncture. But how cautious can he possibly be? His father certainly wasn't cautious about anything. Ever, it seems.

What we have here is a man of substantial African heritage with a lot of power who, through the magic of TV and those who control it, is now adored by millions of left-wing White women. This is really stacking the odds. It's like wandering whether or not a brick would fall to the ground if you threw it from a high window. Sociology is by nature fuzzy, sure, but if you think a little, you can come up with situations in which certain specific outcomes are almost guaranteed. This is probably one of those situations. Now that I think of it, my 10%-20% estimate is surely too high.

A brief walk through Walmart will dispel any such notion.

When I see Michelle Obama I always think of Bertie's description of Honoria Glossop: "One of those large, strenuous, dynamic girls with the physique of a middleweight catch-as-catch-can wrestler and a laugh resembling the sound made by the Scotch Express going under a bridge. The effect she had on me was to make me slide into a cellar and lie low there till they blew the All Clear."

  21. Black women who resent white women for their looks can take comfort from the fact that in a hundred years or so there'll be no pure whites left - everyone will be a shade of brown as a result of miscenegation. Of course a few whites might be preserved on the endangered species list because of their (by then) unusual hair, skin and eye colouring.

I've seen photographs of Michelle looking pretty and she grooms herself well, but to be perfectly horrid, there is something a little cro-magnon about her mandible.

Obama looks like a man who lives under the cosh. I doubt he'd dare commit adultery: Michelle would make his life hell. Speaking as a woman, I find him unattractive. There is something slightly reptilian about him ...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Steve, you've written about the racial component that sharpens the mating game in these United States, particularly for African American women. I'm all for letting the sistahs have a little something to hope for. Under the circumstances, Obama's choice of spouse is low on the list of worrying things about him.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes, there is something vaguely 'reptilian' about Obama as another commenter put it, froggish might be a better word.

But Michelle Obama might not be the best looking woman (nobody is perfect) because of here mannish looks, but she does look quite healthy and vigorous which is good.

  25. Obama made a smart move by marrying a black woman.

If he had married a white woman (or even a hispanic or asian), he would not have gained the support of the black community that he eventually got (I think it was something like 95%+ at the voting booth).

Also, those people who think Obama will have an affair with a young, white female staffer: Sorry, but Obama is too smart and cautious to be caught in that "honey trap" since it would probably ruin his political career.

    ReplyDelete
  26. What sort of magazine is Root? Is it one where it is reasonable to analyse the personal appearance of the lady who happens to be married to the man who has yet to begin his presidency?
IMO, for what little it's worth, MO looks fine for a First Lady; ie perfectly pleasant-looking but with no danger of attracting the sort of great beauty/fashion icon hype which became so embarrassing wrt President Kennedy's FL.
Does anyone know if the fact that neither of the Os had been married before had any influence in the election? And is O now older than McCain was when he dumped his first wife?

Yea, I've yet to meet a white babe that actually enjoys that kind of treatment. But hey, we are being introduced to the non-white way of living, which the NYT and co kept telling us was superior to being stuck-up Christian white and all that. Maybe the NYT was much more low-down than we assumed, with all those genetically-predisposed intelligent folks working there etc.

  30. Steve why are you such a squaresville censor about Obama's private life. All this talk about white mistresses. Puhleeze.

It's staring you right in the face, man. He married an extremely mannish woman after all. Michelle is as masculine as that tennis playing Williams' sister.

Barack Obama with a nubile young white woman on the side? That is so oil meets water. And not in a racial context.

The lies we tell ourselves. Sure. OK. Obama is taking secret smoke breaks with a young white hottie! Sure. Keep telling yourselves that reassuring story.

Obama is now and has always been a renown and infamous ladykiller!? Right, Steve. Is Obama the black Errol Flynn or the black Richard Chamberlain? Steve you are a big Hollywood movie fan. Think about a Hollywood casting agent's honest first reaction to Obama walking into a room.

But, Steve, you're the guy who writes the movie reviews full of sensual physical descriptions of the male actors and never the females. Maybe I'm talking to the wrong guy here.

But you have seen Obama bowling and also you have seen him playing golf. The first time I saw Obama's golf swing I laughed.

    Are you dense, Sailer?

Obama never was and is not now a true heterosexual sex symbol. Obama never was a big man on campus giving the football scholarship studs a run for their money when it came to counting notches on the bedposts. Nope. Never. Didn't happen.

But Obama has made a deal to become a political sex symbol. And now his appeal has expanded to left wing women as the previous poster mentioned.

Yes! Left wing chicks dig Obama. But as always with Obama there is a sense of alien (reptilian) subtext. Hmm. How shall the young girls ever reconcile the contradictions? Maybe they just "Gotta Have Faith" as George Michael once suggested they do.

  33. "racial differences in physical beauty play at least as much of a part in the jealousy and wrath of the 'people of color'"

I would say there's probably some truth in that for black people. For example, the Duke Lacrosse Rape Hoax gained a lot of traction in part because it satisfied the psychological need of blacks to believe that anyone could find black women attractive.

For other non-whites though, not so much. Asian women, if not regularly appearing on the covers of swimsuit magazines, get plenty of attention. And latin women more than make up for any deficiencies in the looks department with their raw sexuality.

    ReplyDelete
  34. You think she looks anrgy in that photo? Maybe it's just the wide-open eyes in an up-turned face, but I think she looks like if there were a literal Barack Obama cult, she'd be its number 1 member. Which is not very feminist, but is incredibly romantic. Most men love it when women look at them with that kind of adoration.

A mix of emotions which most women would probably feel if they're husbands became President of the USA.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't agree with your assessment of Michelle Obama's expression. I don't think she looks angry here at all. In fact she looks like she's concentrating intently on what her Adored Man is saying.

You are very hard on blacks, Steve. You are also acute and perceptive. But this hostility detracts from the overall quality of your contributions to race realism.

Also, I don't think Michelle Obama looks like a typical black woman. The only thing that puts her in the "sistah" category is the dark skin. Otherwise she looks like an African Queen.

  43. I wandered into a liberal-ish forum some months back and in a thread where SWPL were talking about her good looks, mentioned that MO looked like a man. The race card was played within three responses.

They all knew perfectly well she was ugly. They knew to lower their standards because she was a dark-skinned black. They also knew to play the race card instantly, because if I refused to go along with the game, I was ipso facto racist.

White people are kinda creepy, really.

Actually, you are wrong. The MSM is so in the tank for Barry that they would demonize Michelle in a moment if necessary, just like they did with Palin. They would take a divorce in their stride and see it as another challenging need to whitewash Barry.

Indeed, looking at that photo, I think Michelle knows that she simply has to take what she is given for the duration of Barry's presidency. She knows it and so does Barry.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Michelle's mandible looks like that lady cop in 'Fargo' where the lips have a hard time closing over the big teeth.

Funny thing is, she is medium brown, which Obama surely sought in his quest for "black enough" but A) she straightens her hair just like Condi, thought that was an authenticity No No B) her nose is too narrow to emoby an alternate prettiness in lieu of Euro standards.

But dang, she sure does have a big and high ass, and the long fore arms and femur bones of the type doesn't she? Obama's skeletal proportions are much more white.

  49. There's some pretty savage comments here. The way I see it, Michelle is a fairly reserved, well dressed, attractive (that's subjective of course) woman who will make a fine first lady. As long as she doesn't try to pretend she's co-president like Hillary did, we should all be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  50. There are plenty of ugly white women too ... I give you Rosie O'Donnell. Ugly Asian women ... Margaret Cho.

There are only two kinds of women (like music): the hot and the not. Michelle Obama is definitely in the not.

Which has nothing to do with skin color but rather her obnoxious manner and linebacker physique.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Several female commenters mentioned here that they find Michelle pretty. Men and women generally have very different conceptions of what constitutes female beauty.

It's hard to imagine a guy who would find her attractive. She's not feminine enough for that. Do the female commenters who wrote that they find Mrs. O "pretty" swoon over wimpy, effeminate unsure-of-themselves men? Well, men don't fight over women like Michelle for the mirror version of that same basic, biological reason. She's not feminine enough.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Obama doesn't respect white women because he didn't respect his mother. Who can blame him? She dumped him off on her parents so she could gallivant around the third world. Of course his lack of respect for white women doesn't stop them from voting for him.

  53. Since when did Michelle Obama become good looking? When they had that Nuremberg rally after Barack was elected, she had on a tight, gaudy dress revealing a body that is elongated, hunched and poofy. She is skinny-fat as well.

  54. So, Steve, you claim you want the MSM to take you seriously, but then you offer these pedantic articles on Michelle Obama's looks and fitness, which only gives much of the left, indeed, anyone who wants to have the semblance of elite status, the low-hanging fruit to tar you as an extreme racist and bigot. These posts only serve to attract morons from Stormfront and their ilk, and drive away high-value, articulate commenters from the barely disguised hate/disgust of those who loathe black people, and have no wish to entertain or contribute anything substantive to the HBD community.

    ReplyDelete
  55. there is something a little cro-magnon about her mandible.

Actually cro-magnons probably looked just the same as any other modern europeans. See:
    A Cro-Magnon woman.

You probably meant Neandertal. See:Neandertal women.

Both Cro-magnon and Neaddertal would however be incorrect. Michelle Obama has mandibular prognatism - a common feature among sub-Saharan blacks.

Mandibular prognathism is also seen in the genetic condition knowb as Hapsburg Lip but this is entirely different. In blacks the prognathism is also associated with the lack of a prominent chin. The Hapsburg monarches had strong chins on jaws that jutted forward.

In African blacks as in Australian Aborigines, the lack of a chin and prognatism are primitive traits seen in early human varieties. So you are correct in ascribing these to a variety of early man even though you were wrong about Cro-Magnons who had good modern faces and jaws.

The chin arose in humans as the mouths and jaws reduced in size. The early thick jaws needed no chin for strengthening. But as the jaw bones became thinner the chin developed as a butress to deal with the stresses of crewing.

Advanced races like Caucasians and East Asians have small dental arcades and thin jaw bones as well as large brains. Less advanced races have thick jaws with weak chins, large mouths and large teeth and smaller brains.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Actually cro-magnons probably looked just the same as any other modern europeans

Heh, tell that to the anthro types. By that I mean the HBD-aware anthro types. You'll get all kinds of new terms like "Cro-Magnid," "gracile," "robust," etc.

But yeah, MO's jaw is beyond all that.

Get ready for four + years of pravda style reports about the 'more perfect than the brady bunch' obama family. as other commentators here have said, its just an indicator how detached from reality media has become.

Actually the media is a self contained world now so when they lie they create their own reality. And while we're criticizing that lie- judiciously, as we will- they'll lie again, creating other new "realities", which we can study too.link

There will be so much adulation by blacks and glorification of the Obama's that it will not be hard to be gleeful when they fall on their asses. Add white ire and resentment on top of that and we might get the perfect storm. I have a feeling that blacks will be so prickly about her that it will be like an auto-immune disease.

Not righteous anger, which can be evidence of sincere leadership, but bitter angerness, which is evident of insanity.

While we're tangentially on the topic ... I find it appalling but I guess not surprising that Barack is considered in the same session as black Americans who have been here since the 1600's. Not a drop of blood in relation to a single one of them. And yet he eagerly claims the mantle of their leader.

That says a lot about him. And it says a lot about them.

My thoughts exactly! This entire post about Michelle Obama serves only to bring out the least palatable race realists from the woodworks, those who utterly detest blacks and ascribe no positive value to the race. HBDers, to reach the larger society, must present their arguments in a fashion that is unaccompanied by ulterior pettiness and tendentiousness. Steve Sailer has every right to deride black women’s desire to respect their natural physical features. However, if he and other leading HBDers want to be taken seriously by real journalists and influential pundits and not be seen as David Dukes with statistical skills, they must shy away from such banter. It does not help their cause.

By the way, notice the very large number of comments that this anti-Michelle Obama post received, many more than Steve’s insightful commentary on the far weightier national issues of U.S. exports and environmental regulations. Why? The popularity of this thread supports the notion that more than a few HBDers simply revel in bashing blacks for the sake of bashing blacks.

I have no problem with this assertion if it is grounded by science. However, I want to gauge your sense of objectivity. East Asians are smarter and have larger brains than Caucasians. Therefore, in light of your aforementioned logic about East Asians/whites vis-Ă -vis blacks, do you acknowledge that Caucasians are a more primitive race than East Asians?

Again, if HBDers are to be taken seriously, they must be free of bias and advance their argument dispassionately.

I read Steve's stuff precisely because I consider him more of a real journalist than the people who work for major newspapers and magazines. Knowingly or unknowingly (mostly the latter) those people spread propaganda. Steve's stuff is much more reality-based than what those "real" journalists produce.

The fun Steve had in this post at the expense of Ms. Williams was much gentler, both in its racial implications and in its general tone, than is normal among people you've just called "real journalists" when they talk about whites and European culture. Perhaps some day you will notice that double standard. Perhaps not. I've noticed it long ago, hence my disagreement with your remarks, DAJ.

This is what we have to look forward to. Endless bickering about everything. There's no longer anything that is not a racial issue. And as the percentage of whites shrink and the NAMs become more brazen the liberals will demand whites flog themselves harder and harder.

It's not very nice to tell NAMs that their children are too stupid to learn, just like it's not nice to tell them that there's no demand to see them on TV.

The idea that it isn't "polite" to discuss anything racial in blunt terms is a dumb meme for intimidated whites (IT), of IT, by IT, from IT, and to IT.

If blacks can joyously describe flat white asses on comedy shows, let's start talkin' steatopygia!

You "HBD will never hit the manstream this way!" fantasists need to drop the crack pipe. Steve isn't here to gloss over topics - check out the tagline at the top of the old isteve.com site. He's here to point out what is in front of everyone's nose whether they want to see it or not.

The moment that a Steve Sailer can become "mainstream" is the moment that there is no need for a Steve Sailer anymore.

Besides, I think everyone totally missed this sentence in the article: "I've always thought that Mrs. Obama was a handsome woman, who spends a lot on her four sessions with her personal trainer each week. Still, there are those expressions ...."

Talk about missing what's in front of your nose!

He didn't write the post to claim that Michelle was ugly (I agree with him BTW, she's handsome but not beautiful). Now Elanor Roosevelt, that was an unfortunate creature.

He was primarily trying to point out how women journalists use their pen to lament how the world doesn't find them more sexy and desirable. Kinda like how nerds pick up their pens to write stories and comic books about dweebs who are implausibly heroic and will stare death down and get the girl even though they want to whizz their pants whenever the school bully approaches.

I've noticed the trend in women's writing before, and having Steve point it out is sort of like the universe telling me that I'm not imagining things and that the transparent bitterness really is that transparent but no one is really eager to point it out(Although it's way easier to talk about than race realities). It's affirmation. And it's also amusing.

"By the way, notice the very large number of comments that this anti-Michelle Obama post received, many more than Steve’s insightful commentary on the far weightier national issues of U.S. exports and environmental regulations. A lot more people are going to comment on this because 1) it's easier to speak to than the economy and environmental regulations 2) It's more fun and gossipy and 3) people are getting annoyed with drooling morons on the TV trying to make believe that mrs. Obama is beautiful when she's not even beautiful by black standards. She's too masculine looking. She's beautiful if you like trannies. Otherwise she's presentable.

And yeah, some of the commenters don't like blacks I'm guessing. Doesn't have anything to do with them thinking she's ugly though. Even some of the biggest wiggers on the planet have undoubtedly commented on her looks in a negative way.

That's an interesting theory, but I'm still skeptical. If the preference for lighter women was universal, then there would have been sexual selection in favor of lighter complexions, and over the centuries all human populations would have evolved lighter skin color. But that didn't happen, so there must be something else going on.

  93. "Besides, Aristotle, Newton, Euclid, Einstein and other white civilization-builders do not represent the average white. They are outliers. Outliers do not define the mean. The average white person did not develop calculus, for instance."

The men you mention may indeed be outliers, but in terms of civilization-builders, you cannot ignore the contribution of "the mean": the farmers, soldiers, engineers, architects, administrators, political thinkers, etc. etc. etc. It may be that in some cases these "mean" people are applying the scientific breakthroughs of the "outliers" for practical purposes - getting a rocket to navigate gravity, for instance - but in many other cases they will simply be intelligent and practical men such as the 19th Century civil engineer Joseph Bazalgette, who devised a sewer system for London which resulted in the virtual eradication of cholera and improved the lives of Londoners in general.

While it is necessary to have a well educated elite (think 5th Century Athens, Augustan Rome, 19th Century Britain), civilization building depends upon the collaboration of the majority of any given society.

I have found that in my area,as we have a large number of Hisapnics, mainly Mexicans,I find the lighter skinned women to be more attractive than the darker, more Indian 'mujers'. Some can be very beautiful--at least when young. But as of late I have encountered a young girl who is more dark-skinned and "Indian" looking. At first I wasnt esp impressed with her looks,as she seemed very Indian and possibly even a touch of black. But getting to know her and experiencing her wonderful personality, her joy in life, her propensity for laughter and fun,how she is enthusiastic and hard-working--blah blah blah..her overall sexiness and great little body,I am seeing her as much more attractive. I mean..much more! Point of all this drivel? Men seem to respond to certain types of women, but theres always the exception, the woman who embodies qualities that the man may find compelling. So maybe Barry--who has always struck me as a bit gay(gotta admit)--maybe he saw qualities in Michelle that his race-obsessed mind became entranced by! It seems to be more than political, altho by now I am sure the honeymoon is over!! NOW it sure as heck IS political. Does he have a chick on the side. I see your point, Svigor. It is definitely to the credit of the white race that great men like Aristotle, Einstein, Euclid, etc. are members.

However, what to do about the compelling evidence that whites (on average) really do have smaller average brain capacities and lower IQs than East Asians? Do we simply disregard such evidence because Newton and Leibniz were also white? If lower IQ scores and brain sizes can be used to put blacks in an inferior position versus whites/East Asians, why cannot the data be used to put whites in an inferior position to East Asians? Are the data only to be followed when they indicate black inferiority? Such selectivity strikes me as odd and tendentious.

  104. DAJ, I can think of several possible explanations for the paradox of Northeast Asia having a slightly higher mean IQ than Europe, but historically producing many times fewer contributions to science and technology than Europe.

    1) Northeast Asians are more conformist than Europeans. They are more likely than Europeans to get bogged down in tradition. Think of Copernicus, Galileo, Darwin and of folks like Arthur Jensen in our own times. All had to go against prevailing intellectual winds in order to find, and then defend, the truth. You've got to be a rebel sometimes. Scientists, almost by definition, deal with the new. And remember, science arose in Europe twice (first in ancient Greece, and then again during the Renaissance). During the same time period it arose in East Asia zero times. Something must be going on here.

    2) What exactly is the standard deviation of IQ among Northeast Asians? We know that it's 15 IQ points among Europeans. Why should it be the same across races? No reason whatsoever. When we talk about major scientific breakthroughs, we're talking about the extreme right tail of the bell curve, not about the means, so the size of the sigma should be very important. Perhaps some research has been done on this, and I'm just not aware of it.

    3) In his book "Human Accomplishment" Charles Murray cites Christianity as a contributing factor in the West's scientific and technological revolution. He thinks that Eastern religious ideas (Taoism especially, but Buddhism too) fostered an excessively passive attitude towards the world. Just hang back, try to reach harmony with the Universe, etc. He thinks that on balance Christianity encouraged a more active approach.

    4) Murray also thinks that East Asians are less likely than Europeans to want to systematize knowledge. I think he cites as an example the fact that individual Chinese breakthroughs in geometry were never collected into a single coherent system like that of Euclid. I've heard this point about their tendency to not want to systematize knowledge from other people as well.

By the way, if you forced me to place a bet, I'd bet on 1).

    ReplyDelete
  105. Don't worry, we're working on making the West as conformist as the East. In the future there should be no difference.

  106. DAJ,

There are plenty of race realists who readily admit the higher average IQ of east asians. It does appear, though, that the increase is in nonverbal/visuospacial IQ. Verbal IQ appears to be nearly identical.

Also, the difference is only around 4-5 points. Blacks in U.S. have an average IQ of 85, that is, an entire standard deviation below white average IQ. SubSaharan blacks have average IQs of 70 -- two entire standard deviations. That is a huge difference.

Whites have a stereotype of greater creativity than all other races. Since as a race realist, I pay attention to and give some credence to stereotypes, the greater creativity, on average, of whites is what eventually results in true game-changers like Da Vinci and Nicolai Tesla.

If they had their way we would all live in villages like they do in Africa today, or like our ancestors did in the Dark Ages."

Considering the substantial amount of environmental destruction in Africa (just think Sahara creep, river pollution), and the general disdain blacks there show for nature, I shudder to think what will happen when they do eventually industrialise.

  117. "And you're example can be explained by factors other than physical attractiveness."

They're after the money, genes, intelligence. But I was told by prospective bounty hunters that attractiveness played a big role too. It’s considered a status symbol back home. Basically there are things to be had in places like Switzerland and Germany, whilst in Greece or Africa the pickings are thin. This is why so many people are trying to immigrate to the US, and northern Europe. Southern European countries are considered transits. The eventual destinations are Germany, France, and Britain.
My assumption is that foreigners and immigrants are non-PC.

  118. Good God, you're nasty. Sure you can understand the point of that column, that racism and colorism means there's a preference for light-skinned, European-featured black women on TV shows and on magazine covers and among many black people themselves. I hope Obama married Michelle because he loved her and for no other reason, but I can see why she's a political asset and a white wife would have ended any political career he hoped to have. Your commentary is racist, sexist and utterly mean-spirited.

Amazing how liberals demand that whites actually approve of the wives of black pols, that's if they are black. I cannot recall blacks ever having being required to like the wives of white pols, even under Apartheid or Rhodesia’s UDI. Though there may have been a time when the black underclass was required to stand to attention when God Save the Queen was played in the British colonies. In fact I understand Mugabe still reveres the queen.

Is there more natural beauty in Africa or Europe?

Is there more abundant wildlife in Africa or Europe?

Is there more pollution in Africa or Europe?

    "
Yea, that's why in Greece everody who goes studying in Germany is hoping to come back with a German partner. Same for African countries."

Do you know this for a fact, I mean, have you taken a survey or are you pulling it out of your ass?

I, from my experience, would say that men generally prefer lighter women, and women generally prefer darker men, however, many of the 'Miss Germany' types are now Arabs, and I've heard a few German men tell me that Arabs are sought after as mates. Additionally, I've talked to average looking black women who went to Italy on vacation, and were blown away by how much attention they got from men on the street.

"I can see why she's a political asset and a white wife would have ended any political career he hoped to have."

Strangely enough, I would have agreed with this 6 months ago, but the constant stream of childish ridicule against Michelle Obama that I've read here has convinced me, firmly of one very strange conclusion:

Having a black wife actually HURT Obama in this election. I would have never thought it possible but Sailer comes up with at least one Michelle is ugly, Michelle is unqualified, Michelle is angry, Michelle is stupid...etc. post a week, and there are no shortage of Isteve readers falling over themselves to agree. This leads me to believe that if Obama had married a blond, his approval amongst blacks would have fallen to maybe 85%, but he would have probably taken SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT of the white vote!

I almost can't believe I just wrote that, but this country has come a long way when they would prefer a black man marry a white woman than a black one. Give yourselves a hand.

  122. "It's possible that as the white proportion of the population shrinks, the cultural preference for "white" looks will also decline. The admiration for Michelle Obama may be the beginning of a trend."

Very good comment. But not just looks, but white tastes. The story of America is the story of world demographic trends. Whites in the US can't stay insulated from this fact. It's been a "revelation".

    Yeah, yeah.
They've been saying that for years. I've been reading it for at least 40 years. I thought I'd seen the last of blacks with bleached, straightened hair in the late 60s. I thought skin lighteners were no more, since they were naturally "tanned" and forturnate to be so.
Then we got the admittedly loony Michael Jackson, and a host of other blacks (mainly female and including Oprah) who get whiter looking every year. Jackson and his less extreme siblings are only doing what most would do if they had the money. Early and later photos of some of these people are remarkable in their changes. The changes are in their actual racial phenotype--they look less "negroid" in the later pictures.
Advances in phenotype changing technology (all white and/or asian invented I'll wager) have enabled blacks with money to change their looks. There are any number of whites with bad lip jobs walking around, but the wholesale "negroidization" of whites is a non-event, unless you consider the persistence of the tanning bed to be such a thing.
Looking around at preferences, especially male preferences, I conclude that the white aesthetic will undergo some change as it has in the past, but will remain the preferred look. I don't get it, but a European look is preferred in Iran--apparently nose jobs are de rigeur. Iranians are generally Caucasoid in looks, just a bit darker so the nose change gives a "western" appearance despite the fact they are not consciously aware of this. Noses have always been a critical focal point in female beauty in Iran, as everywhere.
I thought the Chinese regarded Caucasians as ugly. I was corrected by a very pro-Chinese westerner who had lived in China. Again--she said the plastic surgery and the icons of beauty that they admire would astonish you.
No African women compete in beauty contests without hair weaves, even among other Africans. Why? I find it kind of crazy.
In Ethiopia, Somalia, African countries where there has been admixture, the most Caucasoid looking types were considered better looking than the Negroid and this goes back much further than any contact with Europeans, although it may have been influenced by contact with middle easterners.

    Truth, you're fooling yourself man!

You've fallen into the trap of thinking that Steve's site represents just one part of a vast media enterprise dedicated to undermining St Obama.

That the steveosphere nearly swung the vote away from Obama. Oh, it might have had some effect and I'm sure subtle ripples are spreading over time.

Yet the vast MSM enterprise is actually working for Obama 24/7. You must have noticed.

No, actually I'm not, Obama won the election because that is what the powers that be dictated, the president is appointed not elected, has been for since at least Gerald Ford, maybe longer, and this one was no different.

My point is that Obama was hooked up with a black woman initially, because when this scheme was hatched some 15-20 years ago, the powers-that-be thought that a black man with a black wife would actually make white people more comfortable. ISTEVE has convinced me, absolutely without a doubt that they made a mistake; or at least that the white public has changed considerably over the past 15-20 years.

Either that or you're all just repetitive insufferable whiners. That possibility has also crossed my mind as I'm still having a hard time wrapping my mind around the former.

  126. I think the powers that be wanted Hilary initially. But after product testing decided to switch to Obama.

Not saying he wasnt lined up years before but they need more than one viable candidate.

Presumably McCain was just there to give the impression of an election. And if he won by a fluke, well he is still their man.

Its funny thinking back to that Florida recount business. You dont need to fiddle the election if you control both candidates. Once they are in place you can let the process play out legitimately.

  127. You are 100% spot on my friend.

And the perfect president is one who can rile up passions on both sides negatively and positively. This allows the illuminati controlled media to continue to stoke the fires of these silly , neverending, contrived liberal vs. conservative and democrat vs. republican battles.

You are right in that both candidates are owned, and either getting into the White House would suffice, yet the 'favored son' is always, miraculously contested by some charisma-lacking drip who has not a snowball's chance of being elected president and fades away soon after. I.e McCain, Kerry, Gore, Dole, Dukaukis, Mondale, etc. It's all a very tidy game; I just don't get why more people don't see it.

  128. Obama's wife is in the OK-to-good looking
range, especially for a middle aged mother of two. It helps her looks that she works out regularly and has gone for years without a real job.

The media treats her far more respectfully than they did Hilary Clinton.
