Barone on Ricci

Michael Barone has a good column today on Ricci, Firefighter case shows seamy side of racial politics, which is clearly drawn from my stuff. Considering all the mean things I said about him a number of years ago, it's big of him to be a reader.

My published articles are archived at iSteve.com -- Steve Sailer

  1. Mighty lazy maybe? You do a lot of research, MSM reporters can't be bothered.

  2. It would be bigger of him still to give you a nod now and again in his writings.

  4. Unfortunately, most of the MSM isn't so fond of the Ricci decision.

  5. Steve -- you want to make it big? To get the props you deserve? Then write an article on how the US should make a wall like Israel has a wall.

There are too many paleos who think Israel has to be left wing if the US is left wing. There is a huge vacuum in commentary -- where are the people who call on us to be more like Israel? There are so many who call for Israel to lay down and die. Where are those who ask us to imitate its fight to survive?

You start doing that and you will be on TV. Guarantee. HbD is trending up among us Heebs and not a moment too soon.

You might be the only writer smart enough to take the opportuntiy. Compare and contrast Wilders vs Haider/Griffin in the European context. Wilders is an ally. Griffin is an enemy. Who knows why Buchanan antagonizes Israel. Yiu don't need to be the same.

  6. I am surprised at how derivative Barone's piece is. I didn't notice a new thought - even the format it tracked yours embarrassingly (or flatteringly, I suppose) closely.

    There's an 'unseamy' side?

Really though, I agree with the other posters as Barone's piece read like a bootleg of yours. Maybe that's his way of getting back at you.

  8. The Associated Press on Ricci. Found in my local daily. Here is the first paragraph:

"The test results said only white firefighters could be promoted. No blacks. So New Haven, Conn., threw out the test." But the Supreme Court decided, etc.

Only far down in the story do we get hints that the test was not specifically designed to keep blacks out. ("No blacks.")

    Just. Wow.

Calling Griffin an enemy (in preventing the Death of the West?) seems a bit much. Unreliable ally, maybe. Auster for one seems impressed by the BNP's renunciation of anti-Semitism and move away from neo-Nazism to moderate ethno-nationalism. Of course Wilders is all about defending Western liberty and liberalism, neither of which the BNP are big on. And of course as ethno-nationalists they'd disagree with Sailer's civic nationalism.

I do think there is an important point here. If anything, a defensive strategy makes much more sense for a big country like the US. Israel needs an offensive capability because it's so small, and that can unfortunately turn into "nuke the Iranians before they get nukes" craziness. The problem for the US and the West is not that defense won't work, but that it's not seen as necessary. People in power either don't understand the demographic (and economic, and eventually military) precariousness of the West, or like Sarkozy they refuse to accept the implications. Sarkozy seems to think Europe can go Muslim and still be Europe.

  11. The importance of Steve's voice is undeniable. And the "Steal this analysis" ethos of bloggers allows his stuff to go viral. Still, it would be nice to see Steve get the occasional attribution. He is one of the most effective champions of the white middle class, and the fact that he is widely suppressed and not openly recognized by the corporate media opinion makers should tell you something.

Wilders is fine considering the alternatives in the Netherlands, but he wants to preserve the full-service welfare state AND the post-Sixties cultural Marxist regime- but minus Islamicization and the EUSSR.

  14. Err... yeah.

    1. Argue the US should build walls in every metropolis to segregate races. (Its a brilliant plan, people will LOVE it).

    2. Get on CNN.

  15. though he's not quite the pariah kevin macdonald is, steve sailer is the type of writer that everyone reads, and uses ideas and knowledge accordingly, but never acknowledges.

I think liberal/neocon writers, at least the smart ones, come here for a 'stupid check' - to make sure they didn't write anything too outrageously dumb (though MSM would never bring it to light anyway)

Only way steve is going to get popular in MSM is if he 'sells out' but hey, blondie made a disco song.

  16. To be fair, maybe Barone based his article on Scalia's opinion.

Griffin an enemy? Explain that please.

Yes, if I were a UK citizen, I sure would vote British National Party. Compare and contrast that.

You must be new here. Steve has repeatedly professed admiration for Israel for always doing what's in its best interest* and wished that the US would do likewise.

How do we go from here to being on TV? It's the Underpants Gnomes' business model all over again.

    * The recent war with Lebanon is an exception.

The BNP also wants to preserve the UK welfare state of course. Both recognise that mass third world immigration is not compatible with a welfare state. Wilders wants to preserve the post-60s Dutch model, which may have cultural Marxist influence, but I doubt he'd refer to it as such.

Well, he presumably cares about the place he'll be living in his twilight years.

I did for the first time, somewhat reluctantly, at the June Euro-election. It seems the only way to have an impact on the main parties, and the election of BNP MEPs does seem to have had some effect. The catalyst for me was the banning of Geert Wilders from the UK; announcing the banning of Michael Savage was icing on the cake.

Tom V: The recent war with Lebanon is an exception.

In fairness to the Israelis, that was a Sun-Tzu-ian war-by-proxy which the Mainland Chinese [via their proxies in Iran] waged against the USA.

Granted, the Israelis may have gotten soft and complacent in the last quarter of a century or so, but they [and, by proxy, we] failed to anticipate how the balance of power could have been so radically altered by the tiniest application of cheap, off-the-shelf, Chicom counterfeit electronics [with just enough Chicom coordination - via their Iranian proxies - to make the trains run on time].

If anyone in the USA gave a d*mn about these things, then the press would be screaming bloody murder over e.g. the pending shutdown of the F-22 assembly line, or the threat posed to our Carrier fleet by these hypersonic torpedoes and anti-ship missiles, but - fortunately for us - no one does give a d*mn about any of this, so that we are free to go on about our busy lives, with our thumbs firmly implanted in our @ss*s, and our eyes glued to the latest television coverage of the Michael Jackson funeral.

And yes: In 20 years' time, the Chicoms will send this fleet straight to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.

"BNP is like the National Party of the old South Africa. Mostly 1-on-1. I only had to scan their site to see it was the same..."

Interesting comparison, thanks. I don't dispute your analysis, but I think there are some issues with the individualism of Anglo culture that sit uneasily with the BNP approach. Notably on race - in the UK and especially here in London, there are a huge, huge number of mixed race people with lower class white mothers and (mostly) absent Afro-Caribbean fathers, who are culturally English, and are treated as such by their peers. They may have lower IQs and a higher crime propensity than the natives, but it's really hard for most Brits to accept that such are not 'ethnically British' and should be considered permanent foreigners. The BNP are on much firmer ground with Islam. While middle class types like myself were unaware of it until the riots & terrorism started, the British white working class that has generally accepted Afro-Caribbean immigration, despite the increase in crime it brought, have long felt under pressure by Muslim settlers who make zero concession to any sort of integration and seem to be engaged in deliberate demographic conquest.
