Brock O'Bama

President Barry O'Bama visited his ancestral village of Moneygall in Ireland yesterday.

Of course, he didn't realize he had any Irish ancestors until a genealogist looked them up in 2007. But, like I pointed out in my review of Jared Taylor's White Identity, it's cool for politicians to identify as black or Irish, or even black and Irish, but it's not cool to identify as white.

It was on one of these Irish Roots trips that Bill Clinton fell in love with the great Ballybunion golf course. (The two towns that feature Bill Clinton statues are Ballybunion and Pristina.) So far, Obama is lacking in discriminating taste in golf courses, so maybe he'll learn something in Ireland.

Heh, one of my friends is half Jamaican and half Irish, a mix he calls Rasta-Celtic. He's always said he belongs to the two best ethnicities. People do approvingly comment on it when he tells them what he is.

  5. According to Thaddeus Russell's "A Renegade History of the United States," in the past African Americans who behaved badly were called 'burnt Irish,' after the race that behaved the very worst of all.

  6. Actually he didn't realize he had any white ancestors until he realized he had to run for re-election on 8% unemployment, after having spent several years bowing and/or apologizing to various non-white, non-Christian, anti-American foreign potentates.

  7. Hmm... most white Americans have at least a wee bit of Irish in them. I guess this is the only little bit of a chance for us white male shlubs who can't do what Sandra Tsing Loh and Raoul Lowery-Contreras did and hype their minority roots.

  8. He doesn't have any Irish ancestors; they were all English.

  9. His ancestors were English and Scots settlers to Northern Ireland, not native Catholic Irish....just pointing that out....

  12. "Brock", as you may know, is a familiar name for the badger, a creature with attractive black and white stripes on its face.

  14. I think I posted it before, but Obama is not only directly descended from Richard the Lionheart, William the Conqueror and Charlemagne, but, via the Danish/Swedish king Halfdan The Old, from the Norse gods Woden aka Odin, and Freya, of Wednesday and Friday fame. Pretty impressive (and somewhat ironic as some very far-right Europeans, rejecting Christian universality, are followers of Odin).

Have you noticed that he got his dreams from his father, but his chin from his mother?

It might have originally been triggered by electoral calculation, but it has to be said his Moneygall visit looked like great fun for everyone concerned - even a cynic like me was touched to see them both so unbuttoned - Secret Service guys panicking as they waded into the crowds, the visit overunning its allotted time by 100%, huge smiles on their faces. He's certainly cheered Ireland up - which they need.

  15. Perhaps this is an attempt to promote "the irish used to be black" meme beloved of anti-whites like Tim Wise.

  18. "...it's cool for politicians to identify as black or Irish, or even black and Irish, but it's not cool to identify as white."

There's something I've always suspected of the American "elites". Words like "European" ("They do things so much better in Europe!") and "Irish/German/whatevs" are code words for "the right kind of white person", right?

  23. "His ancestors were English and Scots settlers to Northern Ireland, not native Catholic Irish....just pointing that out...."

Why because he was Episcopalean. That is a worthless marker of ethnicity in Ireland. There were lots of Anglos who either were catholic and stayed Catholic or who were assimilated into the Irish. There were also lots of people like Falmouth Kearney who converted for social and economic advancement. Given his name was Kearney, a traditional Irish name, this almost certainly describes old Falmouth.

Sorry to dissapoint and all but I felt like sharing. Our view of you people has always been a little resentful. This is why we love Barack. He distains the historical American nation just like we do. For all Steve's concerns about the Jews standing in the way of a self consciously white american identity, it was Teddy who flooded the joint with Mexicans. Enjoy your future suckers.

PS. Just be glad you don't have our plagerising idiot of a leader

  24. obama declared that he was "one of the Monegall obamas".

Is that Monegall in Kenya? Because his surname is from his dad.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Paddywhackery of the cringeworthiest order. Obama's English ancestry outweighs his Irish ancestry by an order of magnitude, but there has been no mention of it on his visit to London. It is invisible, unmentionable - presumably because "the English" oppressed his absentee daddy (although I'd be surprised if his 19th century working-class English ancestors had any hand in the exploitation of East Africa) and because the Oirish lobby will not tolerate any competing claims on one of "theirs".

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if his Irish ancestry is a total fabrication - it's been a must-have for US presidents in recent decades, so it's not improbable that he had his document-forgers take a break from their main current project to cook up a paddy great-grandaddy.

  26. Obama's Irish relatives were descendants of English and Scottish settlers in Ireland. 'Moneygall' in Irish means 'the foreigners thicket'.

The records of his forebears were held by the local Church of Ireland i.e. the Protestant church.

But Irish Protestants have always considered themselves to be Irish, just as you consider yourselves American, though the Catholics didn't always agree. They seemed to agree yesterday though. It was a nice day for both parties - the locals and the O'Bamas.

  27. He doesn't look Irish...

  28. "But Irish Protestants have always considered themselves to be Irish"

This reminds me of the quote from the Duke of Wellington when someone said that he, a Protestant from Ireland, was Irish.

"...being born in a stable does not make one a horse."

  30. 'This reminds me of the quote from the Duke of Wellington when someone said that he, a Protestant from Ireland, was Irish.

'"...being born in a stable does not make one a horse."'

Of course we're Irish. Grow up.

Go into Ireland and try to tell us Proddies apart from everyone else.

You can't - not by name, accent, job, education (the syllabus is the same), often not even by schools since so many Catholics are desperate to send their kids to Protestant schools.

I'm so sick of Irish American scumbags treating religious relations in the Republic of Ireland like they're the exact same as in Northern Ireland. No Irish (as in, actually Irish, not Irish American) who thinks or talks like that.

There's no shame in admitting that you don't actually know anything about it, y'know.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm so sick of Irish American scumbags

Me too. It's not the Irish (I met a passel of them in college and they seemed okay), and it's not the Americans with Irish ancestry (I'm one, and growing up in the south you're hip deep in them), it's the Irish-Americans. Yankees, mostly.
