What's Rick Sanchez up to these days?

Last October, CNN blowhard Rick Sanchez got fired for giving an interview in which he talked about how he was the victim of prejudice against Hispanics. Well, he didn't get fired for that part. That's always okay. What wasn't okay was when he scoffed at the interviewer's suggestion that Jon Stewart, a frequent critic of Sanchez, is also an oppressed minority:
Yeah, very powerless people. [laughs] He's such a minority. I mean, you know, please. What—are you kidding? I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart. And to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority?

To conclusively demonstrate that Jews really are an oppressed minority and don't have any power in the media business, Sanchez was immediately fired to encourage the others.

But, all's well that ends well. Less than ten months later, Sanchez has now gotten a part-time job. Well, it's not actually a job, since he isn't getting paid to do it. Mediaite reported on July 27:
According to the Miami Herald, ex-CNN anchor Rick Sanchez will be back this fall–on the radio in South Florida–calling football games for the FIU Golden Panthers. ... Sanchez says he’s taking the gig to “give something back” to a school he’s close to: "I’m extremely excited to be volunteering my time to Florida International. I’m not getting paid to do this—I just wanted to give something back to the school because FIU has a very special place in my heart: two of my sons now attend FIU and I believe in FIU football." ...
Sanchez, who’s recently written for Mediaite, has spent his time since leaving CNN working tirelessly to clear his name, left tarnished by the comments he made last fall–calling Jon Stewart a bigot, among other things–that forced him from his high-profile network anchor gig.

  2. I don’t know how much Jon Stewart you watch, so I’ll let you know that Chris Wallace and Herman Cain also accused Stewart of bigotry when he joked with an Amos & Andy accent that Cain cannot read. Stewart’s response was to basically say that comedians are allowed to make every kind of ethnic joke. Then, he played a montage of his politically incorrect ethnic impressions.

Its not as though they are trying to Hide it are they?

  5. Jon Stewart strikes me as the kind of guy who would punch your face in and then sue you for damaging his knuckles.

Sanchez wasn't punished for saying that Stewart was a white bigot against non-whites. That's what Wallace and Cain were saying and it's the type of harmless whining by conservatives that liberals usually laugh off. Sanchez was punished for saying that Stewart was a Jewish bigot against gentiles. That's a hanging offense.

  8. Stewart's gone after Jews too. He ripped Jim Cramer a new one on his show, saying he was giving irresponsible investing advice that could be harmful to people like Stewart's elderly mother. Cramer sat there like a submissive and took it, but said later that he regretted pushing back:

"I’m proud I didn’t [hit Stewart with a chair]. I controlled myself. But maybe I shouldn’t have. Maybe I should have taken the gloves off. When Stewart talked about how his 75-year-old mother lost money in the market, I could have said: ‘Hey, your brother Larry Leibowitz is one of the heads of the New York Stock Exchange. Why didn’t he give your mom advice? Maybe I should have said that.”"

And for that matter, Christopher Wallace is Jewish (maybe the only born Jew with that name though).

  10. Proof that in unity there is strength.
The "individual in society" is school propaganda instilled in us at a very early age.Very clever propaganda aimed at us in our formative stage in life. Some of us are able to pull the wool off and see how we are being controlled and manipulated by the media matrix.Itz a vise like death grip but will eventually be broken.

  11. No surprise Sanchez was axed. In fact, 'they' like from time to time to flex their muscles so nobody forgets who runs the show in the media industry.

What is astonishing is that a guy who really should have know better would go out and literally put his head in the noose. Was he depressed ? Was there a succession of incidents that me him blurt out an 'Unspeakable Thruth' ?
    Memoirs, Mr.Sanchez ?

  12. Rick Sanchez was all about the First Commandment of contemporary America, "Thou Shalt not Make Fun of the Jews." They have a near monopoly on the sacred...themselves. The blacks own some American sanctity but it does not compare to the Jewish franchise.
This is why it is so funny to watch 'Curb Your Enthusiam,' by Seinfeld collaborator, Larry David. He uses that ethnic holiness for humor. The more this idea of the Jewish sacred is used for humor, the less sacred it becomes. Larry David is Jewish and it is self-mockery but definitely unigue in this American Zeitgeist.
The last episode 'Palestinian Chicken' really pushes the envelope.
There is great dialogue from that episode in this article:

  14. its kind of funny when liberals think they have so much power that they can challenge jewish power. They find out, really quick, its not about being liberal, its all about who, whom.

Yes, and also that that strength can be maximized by being concentrated in certain areas.

  17. What Larry David makes fun of isn't Jews per se, but self-righteousness in all its forms, whether it's a Jew giving him crap about listening to Wagner, or the guy claiming queen-for-a-day status because his relative died on 9/11 (even though his death was unrelated to the terrorist attack -- he was hit by a car in Midtown that day), blacks going crazy about the "N-word", even when it's not used in a hostile way, etc.

  19. A blowhard got fired. Oh noes!

  20. I never thought of Sanchez as a blowhard. He was the least annoying anchor on cable TV. Possibly the only heterosexual in the whole bunch; seemed to like his wife and kids; seemed to understand actual Americans better than anyone else in that realm.

What an apt comment in a thread about Hispanics and Jews.

FWIW, I don't think the issue in hbd is or ever has been whether or not black people are fully human.

Steve writes about all kinds of things. Sometimes he writes about black people. If you wish to focus your commentary, perhaps you should have waited until he had a post about, you know, black people. If you wrote the above in response to a posting of Steve's about black people, it might have borne some tangential relevance. For this particular post, I think your relevance would have been enhanced if you had written, say, "The fundamental truth that you will NEVER admit to but that I suspect you feel is that you don't think Jews are as fully human as white people." See? It's on topic.

  24. You mean Chris Wallace and Jon Stewart aren't Scottish? There goes a bit of my ethnic pride...

  25. We are a powerless, oppressed minority. And if you ever question that ............... we will crush you.

Mike Wallace (Myron Wallechinsky), Jon Stewart (Jon Leibowitz), and our own Whiskey, who tried to convince us that Harvard is now dominated by neer-do-well WASPs (undoubtedly wearing long raccoon-skin coats and driving Stutz-Bearcats) ......... what's with the Jews in Scots clothing.

It gives a whole new meaning to the term "No true Scotsman.....".

  26. "You mean Chris Wallace and Jon Stewart aren't Scottish? There goes a bit of my ethnic pride..."

My surname is Scottish. Am I allowed to change it to "Cohen" or "Feinbaum" if I'm applying for a job at Goldman Sachs, or would certain people be pissed?

Anyway, sometimes even anti-goyism backfires. It was with great satisfaction I read that the congressional candidate who ran this ad managed to win all of 285 votes in the special election for CA's 36th congressional district.

In other news on Hispanics and Jews, any thoughts, Steve, on Joel Kotkin's latest screed on the troubles in Los Angeles? I give him credit for actually mentioning Hispanic political power as part of the problem, though he begins by crediting Los Angeles's past successes, in part, on Hispanic entrepeneurs.

I suspect its the same creep that's been stalking Steve's threads lately. Didn't this guy pop up after the Norway massacre? Seems to think he needs to morally shame this site. Maybe a gov. operative?

    Thanks for that detail.

It seems strange that there was no push-back. Maybe next time.

  29. Remember Marlon Brando, he went Larry King and went on a big long spiel about how he loved Jews, how he lived in NYC when it was greatest Jewish city in the world, how NY Jews taught him everything about life and politics, & how he attends Jewish Seders (Sp?) in SoCal. He ended by saying "Jews are so great- I'm so glad they control Hollywood".

Next day he was issuing press releases, saying the Jews DIDN'T control Hollywood, apologizing to every Jew in Hollywood for saying so, and begging forgiveness for being such an anti-Semite.

Its a good thing too, because otherwise the Jews 'that don't control Hollywood' would've destroyed him.

  32. Rick Sanchez is an idiot, but I'm not sure he deserved this particular hell he's living through. Inspired by your post, I went back and listened to his career-ending interview It's chilling to hear this poor fool rambling, digging his own grave, throwing away his career and millions of dollars in a single 30-minute interview.

  33. Do you suppose Jews will one day mythologize the wasps like wasps came to mythologize the Indians?
When wasps fought Indians, the latter were 'red savages'. But, after wasps won and Indians were totally beaten, Indians became 'noble savages'.
To Jews, wasps are still 'racists'. But maybe when Jews gain complete control of US and wasps have been totally beaten, they too will be mythologized with a certain nostalgia.

  34. Suppose there's a billionaire and a homeless person. Long ago, the ancestors of the billionaire went though tough times under peoples distantly related to the homeless person.
Does that mean the homeless person should feel pity for the billionaire, and the children of homeless person(even as they remain poor)should feel sorry for the children of the billionaire(as they grow even richer)?

  41. Sanchez wasn't fired because of his statement. He made the statement because he knew he was soon to be fired for being generally despised by his co-workers.

If it was about bias against Latinos, why hasn't he scored a hot deal with TeleMundo or the like? Having a reputation as a jerk within a business community, such as news broadcasters, transcends ethnicity.

All right then, fine. It's Blacks who are the full humans and the rest of us who don't quite make the mark. Bottom line is we're still DIFFERENT(in ways that matter a lot in life).

  45. First of all, Rick Sanchez was a blowhard and a phony. Take a look at his complexion. He is as white as Steve Sailer. But he calls himself "Hispanic". This is why the "Hispanic" term is so silly. It seems to me that "Hispanics" who are white call themselves "Hispanics" as to obtain power within the "Hispanic" realm. Take a look at Mexico. The country is 9% white, but whites run the whole show and yet are considered "Hispanic". Did anyone actually watch Rick Sanchez on CNN? He was a leftist idiot whose ratings were in the tank. Yet he get's into a tizzy because John Stewart called him a "2nd rater". What a buffon
