Ironically, Pvt. Naser Abdo, who was arrested last week after buying guns and explosives at the same gunshop outside of Fort Hood where Maj. Hassan bought his gun for his spree killing in 2009, was profiled in 2010 by ABC News: "
Devout Muslim Soldier Hopes to Avoid Deployment to Afghanistan." Here are some great quotes from that year-old article:
Although Fort Campbell employs an imam on base, Abdo prefers instead to seek counsel from his personal circle of Islamic advisers, he said. "In my experience, they don't know their religion," he said of base imams. "They don't know their faith." ...
Now, he said, he wants out of the Army so he can spend his life combating what he called Islamaphobia and advocating Islam as a peaceful religion. ...
"I want to use my experience to show Muslims how we can lead our lives," he said. "And to try and put a good positive spin out there that Islam is a good, peaceful religion. We're not all terrorists, you know?"

I don't believe you can buy explosives at a gun shot. Nor do I believe that he tried to purchase explosives at the gun shop.
He asked for advice on making explosives, I believe.
Perhaps he didn't know about xxx and yyy and zzz.
Way to go living up to stereotypes.
It's his fault that I'm Islamophobic.
And to try and put a good positive spin out there that Islam is a good, peaceful religion. We're not all terrorists, you know?
I would say he was not successful.
I used to reload, and buying powder was no big deal. You can't just stick a fuse in it and make a bomb, but I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable could find a way.
I reload as well. Smokeless powder is not an explosive. It is a propellant, which means that it can burn very quickly but doesn't explode.
Abdo didn't know that and neither do the nitwit journalists.
Remember the Pakistani guy in New York that beheaded his wife? Before he did the beheading, he started a tv station to "dispel negative cultural stereotypes" of Islam.

Put yourself in the position of a traditional white or black private in the military, stationed at Ft. Cambell or Ft. Hood.
Does this event inspire your morale or not?
Our kids are being asked to accomodate other soldiers among them who are sometimes openly rooting for the other side's forces to prevail in 3 active military combat operations. A couple of more Ft. Hood like-incidents, and morale on-base will indeed be affected.
Why do these clowns even join the military? I'd understand if America had compulsory service so a young anti-american Muslim extremest wouldn't have a choice, but this just doesn't make sense. These guys can't find another jobs program or what?
Also, does anyone know how many religions get services on the American military bases? When I looked into officer training, I got the impression that the chaplain was the all around spiritual guide/counselor who was there for anyone dealing with tough personal/spiritual issues. i had no idea they had all kinds of imams on call.
Until very recently, I was seriously considering going into Information Warfare. However, if there is a possibility of receiving officer's benefits as a head witch or some other sort of a pagan priestess, that would be really awesome. I'd lead the troops in a midnight naked chant with a tambourine, or I could teach belly dance while spinning fire sticks in honor of the Goddess every full moon! I can lift the morale, I promise! Do they have a contracted reformed rabbi? Military contracts are cool too. I once been to a reformed service where a female rabbi, gave some sort of a weird, feminist take on the story of the sacrifice of Isaac while playing guitar.
No, but really, does the military employ imams?
Smokeless powder = nitrocellulose = legally termed a high explosive.
If it is not confined in a space -- like a pressure cooker -- it's merely a very high speed propellant.
But this islamist WAS following al Queda's recipe...
Straight off of the internet...
And DID purchase a pressure cooker, too.
He also bought the recipe's other ingredients -- right down the line.
Why would anyone perceive Islam to be a violent religion?
Hmmm. And to think that VP Biden today called citizens who wish to restore fiscal sanity to the nation, "Terrorists"... Barry and Joe don't even call Major Hasan a "terrorist."
Freakin' libs.
He was caught with child porn, I believe this is the other ingredient to being Islamic (the first is being a pacifist for sure), and figured this would be a way to go out in a blaze of glory.
"...We're not all terrorists, you know?"
Of course not. Some of you are pederasts.
[Hey, wait a second... you're one of those as well!)
Ehh, well at least they got this one before anything happened.
Not going to say anything else other than these comments are especially bad..
Why repeat the same damn things over and over again.

J'accuse.

I think the more immediate problem is going to Meso-American cartel members joining the National Guard and other branches. Should be interesting.
I think you guys are blaming the victim.
We need to ask what our white supremacist society did to make him lash out for justice.
Remember when commie hatemonger Geraldo Rivera warned us about Satanists infiltrating the military? That's a non-issue now. But looking back, Satanists never caused a tenth of the trouble that Muslims did, and are continuing to do.

How about all that Chicago gang graffiti that was reported in Baghdad? The Vice Lords, for example, are crypto-Muslim (though it's that hoodoo pseudo-masonic hustler type that's been popular with blacks since the 20's).
Off-topic, Steve, but there is a recent NYT story concerning Turkey, which may interest you:

A change in the traditional deep-state politics? Hat-tip to Lawrence Auster for the link.
The worse the better... I hope that these types of soldiers become more and more common in the US Armed Forces, slap the dumb white boy volunteers directly in their faces with how antipathic the multicult is to their interests--and how their military service only furthers policies to harm them
After this diverted tragedy, it only makes sense to actively seek MORE Muslims for military service. The more there are, the more we'll see they aren't ALL terrorists, and the more diverse we will be, and that makes for a better military.
Gays, Muslims and women should all share living quarters. It at least makes for a decent TV program idea.
There's something odd about this story. If he was planning to attack the base originally, why would he have bothered with the whole conscientious objector thing? He'd have been stupid to call attention to himself in that way.
The best I can guess, he must have changed his ideas quite a bit in just a couple years--first deciding to enlist, then deciding to go through a presumably pretty hard process to be declared a conscientious objector, then being charged with possession of kiddie porn, then going AWOL, and finally coming up with some muddle-headed plan to attack Ft Hood. It would be interesting to know what happened there, to change his ideas so much.
The other possibility is that some fraction of this story is BS. But there's probably no way to tell, until the whole thing gets processed through the military justice system.
One continuing source of bafflement, for me. Suppose you're a cold-blooded terrorist planning to murder a bunch of people to make a political point via some kind of mass shooting. Is an Army base really the easiest place to do this? Wouldn't someplace with fewer armed guards and generally less security make more sense as a target? I'm guessing there was a pretty good reason Brevik choose a summer camp instead of an Army base or police station to shoot up.
If "Naser Abdo" had changed his name to John Smith or Bob Jones, etc, etc than maybe he would be more successful in his endeavors!
"There's something odd about this story. If he was planning to attack the base originally, why would he have bothered with the whole conscientious objector thing? He'd have been stupid to call attention to himself in that way."
He wanted to be the "victim" and have justification for his acts.
"None of what Ive read about this story suggests careful planning on the part of the would-be terrorist."
All the more reason for him to "risk"(lets face it, had the gunstore not profiled him, no one else would have) drawing attention to himself.
"Is an Army base really the easiest place to do this? Wouldn't someplace with fewer armed guards and generally less security make more sense as a target?"
And as to this, no there was no large armed presence at the base which is why Hasan killed as many as he did. Everyone sadly wasn't armed 100% of the time.
