From the BBC:
Brazil police hunt 'blonde kidnap gang' in Sao Paulo
Brazilian police say they are hunting a gang of mostly blonde young women who have committed a series of kidnaps and robberies in Sao Paulo. The criminals have been targeting wealthy women in shopping centres, Sao Paulo's anti-kidnap police unit says.
The victims are followed to their cars, where they are robbed and held captive at gunpoint while the gang uses their credit cards to make luxury purchases. Police said the "blonde gang" consisted of young, educated, middle-class women. Sao Paulo civil police anti-kidnap division chief Joaquim Dias Alves told BBC Mundo: "One or two speak more than one language, and some have been educated overseas.
"They are really pretty girls, well-dressed and made up," he said. The gang tend to target women who look similar to them, so they can assume the victim's identity while they use their credit cards.
They are thought to have been operating for three years, and to have robbed at least 50 people.
C'mon, you know this is a lot more promising for a True Crime movie than that scenario you've been kicking around about poor Trayvon Martin. Even your brainstorm of casting Ryan Phillippe as Great White Defendant George Zimmerman isn't going to save that story from boring-and-depressingness.
This sounds like the makings of a great Tarantino film.
ReplyDeleteUh... mebbe the 'victims' are Nazis. This could be made into a Brazilian GIRL WITH DRAGON ASS TATTOO.
ReplyDeleteI think some men might enjoy being kidnapped by such girls.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom three don't look exactly white to me. Maybe in Brazil they are. They're as white as George Zimmerman.
ReplyDeleteThe Prez is said to be beside himself
ReplyDeletenone of them are actually blond, although some of them look to be mostly european, yes. definitely some portuguese there, at least to my eye. classic portuguese bone structure on a few of them, typical brazilian mixed race bone structure on the others.
ReplyDeletecontrary to the pervasive stereotype in the US that brazilian women are hotter than the global average, in reality, they're not. at least i would say. the portuguese just don't look that good relative to the other europeans, then you're talking about lots of race mixing too, bringing their average looks down a bit further.
sure there are other europeans in brazil as well, but not nearly enough to change the fact that the average woman is pretty much rock solid in the middle of the global average. there are, for instance, more africans in brazil than in the US.
i'm sure the stereotype of hot brazilian women comes from media projection. the average american has never been to brazil and seen the endless hordes of dog ugly women in the towns and favelas of brazil. all they see are the same 8 models in print media and television commericals, over and over again.
i wonder if those types of perceptions are changing in the US. for decades the stereotype about LA beaches and miami beaches was gorgeous women everywhere. but go to those beaches today. it's mostly frumpy third worlders. sure, there's definitely some hot women here and there. but they're outnumbered 10 to 1 by the brown hordes now.
"the portuguese just don't look that good relative to the other europeans."
ReplyDeleteThis statement is an OPINION, and one obviously very poorly substantiated. I am not aware of any studies that have shown people throughout the World hundreds of Portuguese faces next to hundreds of faces of people from other countries in Europe, asked them to rate them for average attractiveness, and then concluded that most people find the Portuguese less attractive. You are talking out of your ass - which seems to be a pattern among a lot of Sailer's readers, to just throw random ideas "out there" with little evidence or even logically coherent arguments to substantiate them.
And BTW, IMO, the Scots-Irish are some of the ugliest people I have ever seen. Scots-Irish women usually have huge bones, freckles, bad complexions, ash red and blond hair, etc. I will take a Portueguese chick over a Scots-Irish one any day.
I've noticed this about latinos before: any chick with blonde hair is hot which must be why I see so many latinas who have dyed their black hair blonde. LOL.
ReplyDelete"Scots-Irish women usually have huge bones, freckles, bad complexions, ash red and blond hair, etc. I will take a Portueguese chick over a Scots-Irish one any day."
What's ash-red hair? Anyway, chances are you haven't seen many of either scotch-Irish or Portuguese women. Lots of ectomorphs among any population out of the British Isles, btw. And light-skinned people with freckles usually don't get acne at any age. What are you talking about?
I believe the Portuguese have the highest sub-Saharan admixture in Europe. It's sky high over there, in some regions something like 15 to 20%.
ReplyDeleteTo anonymous 12:16 AM : The non caucasian admixture in Portuguese is 2,5%, less than in white Americans. Is totally maternal, and not even all "black" since some chinese, japanese and indians(east and west)have been brought. Happens, that in the south (Alentejo)geneticists found 10%,12% maternal mtdna,in little villages that have been big farmes in XVI century. But, Alentejo, never count with more than 10% of the Portuguese population. It´s all. You need travel...
ReplyDeleteA case Hollywood really should look into is the Knutby case, setted in a small Swedish village:
ReplyDelete"The murders and the following police investigation caused a lot of media attention both in Sweden and abroad. Details such as the victims' and perpetrators' involvement in the same sect-like church community (led by a woman named Åsa Waldau, sister of the murdered woman), as well as the pastor's sexual relationship with both the nanny and the wounded man's wife, were extensively covered in the tabloid newspapers. Waldau was frequently called "Kristi brud" (The Bride of Christ) in the media, following news that she had performed an engagement ritual with Jesus."

Make them the descendants of NAZIS!!! who escaped the fall of the 3rd Reich and you've got yourself a movie.
ReplyDeleteOr the result of evil NAZIS!!! (who escpaed the fall of the 3rd Reich) cloning/genetic engineering experiments.
The Girls From Brazil
The Broads From Brazil
The Blondes From Brazil
And BTW, IMO, the Scots-Irish are some of the ugliest people I have ever seen. Scots-Irish women usually have huge bones, freckles, bad complexions, ash red and blond hair, etc. I will take a Portueguese chick over a Scots-Irish one any day.
ReplyDeleteBut we all know "Scots-Irish" women are gorgeous.
Indeed, the "Brazilian model" thing requires some knowledge of Brazil's ethnic history, which can be found in Alexei Barrionuevo's 2010 New York Times story, in spite of the SWPL/PC filter that the story applies to the data.
ReplyDeleteOff Runway, Brazilian Beauty Goes Beyond Blond
The goal, he and other model scouts say, is to find the right genetic cocktail of German and Italian ancestry, perhaps with some Russian or other Slavic blood thrown in.[...]
Despite those shifts, more than half of Brazil’s models continue to be found here among the tiny farms of Rio Grande do Sul, a state that has only one-twentieth of the nation’s population and was colonized predominantly by Germans and Italians.
Indeed, scouts say that more than 70 percent of the country’s models come from three southern states that hardly reflect the multiethnic melting pot that is Brazil, where more than half the population is nonwhite.
"And light-skinned people with freckles usually don't get acne at any age."
ReplyDeleteI am part Irish and have very sensitive skin, but no freckles. If I just touch my face I can get a pimple there. I can't stand it.
I wonder if there is an ethnicity that gets more acne than others.
Are you aware that the Epic Beard Man story appears to have been made into a movie, starring Danny Trejo [of Machete fame], as Epic Beard Man, and a bunch of white guys as Amber Lamps?
ReplyDelete"i'm sure the stereotype of hot brazilian women comes from media projection."
ReplyDeleteKind of like the film Orpheus Descending taught a whole generation that Brazilians were these romantic, free, celebratory people. In Dreams of My Father, Obama describes his cringing at viewing the film after his mother gushed about having seen it when it came out. He correctly surmised that this was a primary source of the jungle fever that overcame her sensibilities and attracted her to BHO Sr, and sent her down her road to studying "authentic" people.
I haven't read the whole book, but I found that part one of the most honest things he said, painfully honest.
Here's a prominent Brazilian descendent of an Alabama confederado. She looks naturally blond.
ReplyDeleteI watched a short documentary about those Brazilian blonde model hunters who search villages in the south for the perfect German/Italian/Slavic mix. And just who does this kind of master race idealization? As Steve has pointed out before, when a straight guy stereotypes feminine beauty, he's a sexist pig; when a a gay guy does it, he's a talent scout.
All of them are mixed, and they don't look better than ours
ReplyDelete"i'm sure the stereotype of hot brazilian women comes from media projection. the average american has never been to brazil and seen the endless hordes of dog ugly women in the towns and favelas of brazil. all they see are the same 8 models in print media and television commericals, over and over again."
ReplyDeleteJudging the looks of tens of millions of Brazilian women by six random crooks makes more sense than judging them by 8 models? I've been to Brazil a few times. Why would you expect the women in their favelas to all be beautiful? Would you expect the same of the women in American slums?
Similarly, in a city like Rio, the beach isn't somewhere just the beautiful people go -- everyone goes there. But in the upscale clubs, restaurants, shops, etc., you will find plenty of beautiful women.
As for the typical Brazilian look, I can't find a link for it right now, but the flight attendant in the TAM airlines ad in the FT's How to Spend It section sort of exemplifies it.
Christina Hendricks is not a natural redhead. She dyes it.
ReplyDeleteSo considering that and the fact that her surname is German, I don't think she's Scots-Irish.
Christina Hendricks
ReplyDeleteCate Blanchett
Bryce Dallas Howard
Kelly MacDonald
I don't think any of these are actually Scots-Irish. MacDonald is just Scottish I believe.
And Blanchett is not very attractive. And she's old. MacDonald isn't much either.
@Anonymous 11:35 AM
ReplyDelete"Christina Hendricks
Cate Blanchett
Bryce Dallas Howard
Kelly MacDonald
If that ain'tcher thang, then that ain'tcher thang - so be it.
Me - I'm lovin' it.
PS: And I can just about guaran-dadgum-tee you that your average SEC Cheerleader is at least 50% Scottish/Scots-Irish."
LOL, most of these women are not of even mostly Scots-Irish descent, and you can find beautiful people of all ethnicities and nationalities. If Scots-Irish women are so beautiful, where are the supermodels or "A list" female actresses of even 50% Scots-Irish descent? There are beautiful and ugly people of all ethnicities, but the Scots-Irish women are particularly unattractive with their tendencies to have freckled skin with bad complexions, huge bone structures(unfeminine)and red and ashy hair. Face it, dude: the Scots-Irish are not aesthetically gifted. Tough soldiers, sure, but not good-looking or intellectually gifted.
Funny how this blog revolves pretty much around trashing Latin Americans and coming up with arguments for why they shouldn't be allowed to immigrate to America, usually revolving around their lack of accomplishments and potential for accomplishments, and yet the Scots-Irish have contrubuted NO genius and have contributed very little material accomplishemts to America, and yet Sailer or "Vdare" love them and boasts about how great they are. It must be because "Mexican traits" are acceptable when they come with red hair and freckles...
"And Blanchett is not very attractive. And she's old. MacDonald isn't much either."
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? Blanchett is gorgeous.
While Scottish women in Scotland have a reputation for unattractiveness, women of Scottish descent elsewhere (like the USA or Australia) don't seem to have the same problem, which suggests the issue may be more about dietary habits, the culture (lack of physical activity), or the climate, especially the relative lack of sunlight. Other Northern countries are known for attractive women, but they don't get as much rainfall.
Typically, a German family might have come to the USA with a spelling like "Heinrich", or "Heinrichs", whereas a Scots-Irish family might have come to the USA with a spelling like "Hendrick", or "Hendrix".
ReplyDeleteThen as the Germans moved down out of eastern Pennsylvania, following the Appalachian foothills into western Maryland, western Virginia, and western North Carolina, they would have started co-mingling with the Scots-Irish, and they all would have moved out together through the Cumberland Gap, into Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, and Texas, with everyone coalescing on a common spelling like "Hendricks".
***************
Cate Blanchett's father, Robert DeWitt Blanchett, was born in Texas, so in addition to [undoubtedly] having a fair amount of Scots-Irish in him, his name suggests to me that he might also be a little Huguenot; on the other side of the family, her mother's maiden name was Gamble, which is thoroughly Scottish & Scots-Irish.
***************
Now having researched it some more, the one who might actually be more German is Bryce Dallas Howard, which really surprised me: It turns out that Ron Howard's Dad, Rance Howard, was born "Harold Rance Beckenholdt", in Duncan, Oklahoma [where his mother, Jean F. Speegle, was also born].
Apparently they only adopted the family name, of "Howard", in 1949, when Beckenholdt had to join the Screen Actors Guild, about five years before Ron would be born.
I guess maybe because my childhood memories are of Ron Howard as "Opie Taylor" and as "Richie Cunningham", it never even dawned on me that he might not be a full-blooded Scots-Irishman.
BTW, Mr Beckenholdt/Howard is still alive - he just turned 84, last November - although Mrs Speegle/Howard died about 12 years ago.
through the Cumberland Gap, into Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, and Texas
ReplyDeleteAnd Tennessee [obviously].
"And BTW, IMO, the Scots-Irish are some of the ugliest people I have ever seen. Scots-Irish women usually have huge bones, freckles, bad complexions, ash red and blond hair, etc. I will take a Portueguese chick over a Scots-Irish one any day."
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about? Southern women are usually perceived as attractive, and their ancestry is usually a mix of Scots-Irish, English and French. Most Scots-Irish women have brunette hair naturally but probably dye it lighter. And even though porcelain complexions are just as lovely, I would actually say the plurality of Scots-Irish ladies can get a decent tan in the summer.
Also there is no such thing as "ash red" hair. If you are talking about ash blond that is more of an Eastern European trait. Western Europeans with natural blond hair usually have more golden shades.
On Portuguese women, from James Michener: "A common saying in Spain is that Portugal is the one place where a man's mistress is likely to be uglier than his wife."
ReplyDelete"Funny how this blog revolves pretty much around trashing Latin Americans and coming up with arguments for why they shouldn't be allowed to immigrate to America, usually revolving around their lack of accomplishments and potential for accomplishments, and yet the Scots-Irish have contrubuted NO genius and have contributed very little material accomplishemts to America, and yet Sailer or "Vdare" love them and boasts about how great they are"
ReplyDeleteThe Scots-Irish are definitely not perceived as positively on the alt-right as German-Americans or even Polish-Americans. That has always been obvious to me. I don't know why you've popped out of the woodwork with these weird assertions. I've never really seen that much boasting about the Appalachia on here.
And what about Mark Twain, Edgar Allen Poe, Elvis, Neil Armstrong and Bill Gates? All of some Scots-Irish descent. I guess they are just nobodies who haven't contributed anything to America, ever.
Cate Blanchett's father, Robert DeWitt Blanchett, was born in Texas, so in addition to [undoubtedly] having a fair amount of Scots-Irish in him, his name suggests to me that he might also be a little Huguenot
ReplyDeleteA number of Scots-Irish families are of Huguenot descent, such as Petigrou/Pettigrew. Same as Boer Dutch: Leclerk/Deklerk. The Dutch,French Huguenot, Scots, Scots-Irish Reformed Protestants produced a kind of hybrid Calvinist tribe in the 17th century whose influence is still underappreciated.
"Funny how this blog revolves pretty much around trashing Latin Americans and coming up with arguments for why they shouldn't be allowed to immigrate to America, usually revolving around their lack of accomplishments and potential for accomplishments, and yet the Scots-Irish have contrubuted NO genius and have contributed very little material accomplishemts to America, and yet Sailer or "Vdare" love them and boasts about how great they are"
ReplyDeleteI guess you can read "Born Fighting" and catch up on the Scots-Irish contribution to this country. It's very extensive, ranging from the bulk of our early fighting forces to numerous presidents.
Art Nouveau era sex symbol Evelyn Nesbit was Scotch-Irish.
ReplyDeleteShe has a Hot White Defendant story of her own:
"Evelyn Nesbit (December 25, 1884 – January 17, 1967) was an American artists' model and chorus girl, noted for her entanglement in the murder of her ex-lover, architect Stanford White, by her first husband, Harry Kendall Thaw."
And this is how you “discover” a model in Brazil.
ReplyDelete"It turns out that Ron Howard's Dad, Rance Howard, was born "Harold Rance Beckenholdt", in Duncan, Oklahoma..."
ReplyDeleteLOL. Sailerites are scandalized by Woody Allen dropping his Germanic last name, but none are troubled by Rom Howard doing the same thing.
This is why I love Brazil, the whites are also disfunctional. I´ve seen plenty of stories of purely Germanic peoples commiting crimes that only blacks in America would commit. However, they don´t mug people or rape, so theyre more civilized in that manner.
ReplyDeleteThis story has been on the news for a couple of days now down here in Brazil. They only victimized women, probably older ones. Saying kidnapping is a little misleading. They practice sequestro relampago (lighting kidnap), which just means they brought them to an atm machine at gun point.
They aren´t as white as Northern Europeans, but I would definitely consider these people white. The white population of Brazil is made up of Portuguese, Spanish, German, Italian (lots of northenr italians too, which are practically german), Lebanese and Polish/Russian. Many think they are mixed with indian or black, but that isn´t as common as people think. It´s just that southern europeans are pretty dark, and eastern and southeastern Europeans are different looking to the American eye, so people assume they are mixed. An example of this is President Dilma, who is of Bulgarian descent. To my American eye shes´something "else", but to my Brazilian eye she is just plain white Brazilian.
Face it, dude: the Scots-Irish are not aesthetically gifted. Tough soldiers, sure, but not good-looking or intellectually gifted.
ReplyDeleteActually, the Scots-Irish (or if you prefer, British Fringe, or even, "Brunn") look is pretty dominant in Hollywood actors. Once you get a handle on it, you see it everywhere. Short (heightwise, not depth) noses are a giveaway. I know we were talking about women, not men, but you were the one who generalized.
As for actresses, well, man-face is the new "pretty" so I think we need some different criteria.
ReplyDeleteThe thing to look for in haters is when they don't offer an alternative, they just tear down. E.g., "Italian women are much hotter than Irish women" leaves Italian women open to criticism. "Irish women suck" is a dead giveaway. I mean, who we gonna offer as superior? Brazilians? It is to laff.
Another problem is some women may exemplify an ethnic look, but that usually amounts to substituting distinctiveness for beauty, when beauty is largely proximity to the mean. E.g., Kelly MacDonald. Very Irish-looking, but not particularly attractive. Kind of annoyingly Irish-looking, actually. Hot Irish/Scots-Irish/British chicks are going to look like hot Nordic/Nordish/Nord-Med women everywhere.
ReplyDeleteFunny how this blog revolves pretty much around trashing Latin Americans
ReplyDeleteMestizos. Yet another looovely race. Compared to "Scots-Irish" anyway.
E.g., Kelly MacDonald. Very Irish-looking, but not particularly attractive.
ReplyDeleteTo each his own, dude.
But if you ever get the chance, then check her out in the made-for-BBC May/December Romance, The Girl in the Cafe.
HOLY COW did I love her character in that flick [just ignore all the politically correct filler material and concentrate on the chemistry between her and Bill Nighy].
She also showed a little magic in No Country, but my gut tells me that a half or even two-thirds of the scenes she filmed were left on the cutting room floor.
The SEC cheerleaders reminds me of Lawrence Auster's comment about visiting the South: they had to be more conservative to help ward off temptation because the women are so good looking.
ReplyDeleteAll of them in these photos looks white to me. The botton left is just plain ugly. As for "blonde" well i don't know how that is in USA (i'm brazilian myself) but blonde tinturing has become a big plague here and most done badly with obvious fakeness, there are now more fake blondes in São Paulothan real ones in Stockholm. As for portuguese women they don't look too different from spanish or southern italian. They are darker and shorter than german or english women, but that's it. About brazilian beauty... well whites are usually portuguese, spanish, italian or german in ancestry or some mix of these. Arabs (mostly lebanese) are found in some regions but are not common as a whole, germans are not uncommon but are really expressive just in the south of the country. As for mixed ancestry people they are about 78% white (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19639555but) with more black in Rio and Bahia more Amerindian in the Amazon and more white in the south.
ReplyDelete"believe the Portuguese have the highest sub-Saharan admixture in Europe. It's sky high over there, in some regions something like 15 to 20%."
ReplyDeleteThere is NO population of Europeans with "20%" sub-Saharan African. None. Nada. Not unless you are looking at some recent group of mixtures. We've been over this countless times, Afro-fantascist.
As for the assertion of ashi-red (huh?) "Scotch-Irish" stock comes in all gradations of looks and have provided some of the most extraordinarily gorgeous denizens of Hollywood since the early years of the 19th century. I'm always surprised how many actors/actresses come from Kentucy, Texas, Indiana, etc. While I can't vouch for pure Scotch-Irish in the examples that come to mind, I don't think your fantasies are any more statistically informed. Is your name Dienekes by any chance? He's a Greek student of DNA, who holds one, and only one, type of northern Euro in his head--snub nosed and nearly negroid. I know. I know. It's bizarre since actual Scandis are mostly quite sharp featured, whether good looking or not; and one of the traits of the Nordic type is an elongated jawline and headform (doliocephalic) that would seem to preclude some of the features he attributes to him. But that's him. He's determined Greeks, as he imagines them, are the best looking. Like a--Greek sculpture. And even a Greek-o-phile of my acquaintaince admitted the Greeks are not that good looking for the most part despite her preference for the Med type.
I haven't seen as many Portugese, but those I have seen are not negroid (or sub-Saharan African to use the long, PC term.) They are vary from blondish to brunette, and some look middle eastern. But most look like sharp featured Euros.
You may be thinking of Cape Verde or some of the islands. The Portugese were some of the earliest slave traders and taught Africans how to carve gold. Africans did this pretty well, but when the Portugese left over the 19the 19th & 20th centuries, these skills were not maintained. Or so says an article in the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica.
I did read a travel book about Spain by, I think, James Michener, and it is the general opinion of the Spanish (a good looking people for the most part) that the Portugese girls incline to be ugly. But again, an opinion of the competitive kinds that neighboring nations often have. But one thing the Portugese, taken as a whole, are not, is 20% black.
Actually, the Scots-Irish (or if you prefer, British Fringe, or even, "Brunn") look is pretty dominant in Hollywood actors.
ReplyDeleteThere is a certain look that's common in Hollywood, I think "Keltic-Nordic" was the term from older physical anthropology. It's common in Britain, Ireland, OZ/NZ, North America, the South especially as it retains more than many other parts of the US descendants of the earliest settlement from Britain. It's sort of an "average" look in the Anglosphere and the traditional American and "All-American" look.
This is a good post on it:

ReplyDeleteYou're thinking of the 1959 film Black Orpheus by Marcel Camus. Orpheus Descending is a 1957 play by Tennessee Williams that was made into a little-seen movie in 1990.
I'm still waiting for the Tarantino movie on the Stripper Gang.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Roger Corman when we need him?
The men in Brazil are more handsome than the women are beautiful. Brazil doesn't have the hottest women in the world but may well have the hottest men. And I'm talking about the whites or whitish people here btw.
ReplyDeleteThink how much worse looking Brazilian and Portuguese would be without plastic surgery. Most models from South America are probably unrecognizable from their real selves because of plastic surgery.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE being around beautiful Southern women every day!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose girls LOOK like predators, grifters, human sharks, whatever you want to call it. Look at those eyes. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteThese Brazilian chicks have those weird faces that you see so often in them. They kind of look like trannys.
ReplyDelete"And BTW, IMO, the Scots-Irish are some of the ugliest people I have ever seen. Scots-Irish women usually have huge bones, freckles, bad complexions, ash red and blond hair, etc. I will take a Portueguese chick over a Scots-Irish one any day."
ReplyDeleteOn average, they're pretty homely, yeah. The beautiful ones are like nothing else in the world, though. Anyway, they're my people.
This is one of the justifications for high levels of ethnic chauvism: so that every country, and its women, can be beloved.
