Oberlin Cancels Classes After Series of ‘Hate-Related Incidents’

Oberlin College, known as much for ardent liberalism as for academic excellence, canceled classes on Monday and convened a “day of solidarity” instead, after a person wearing a robe and hood appeared near its Afrikan Heritage House early Monday morning in the latest in a string of what it described as hate-related incidents and vandalism.
In the last month, a number of racist and antigay messages have been left around campus, a jarring incongruity in a place with the liberal political leanings and traditions of Oberlin, a school of 2,800 students in Ohio, about 30 miles southwest of Cleveland. Guides to colleges routinely list it as among the most liberal, activist and gay-friendly schools in the country.
The sighting of the person on Monday, “in addition to the series of other hate-related incidents on campus, has precipitated our decision to suspend formal classes and all nonessential activities for today, Monday, March 4, 2013, and gather for a series of discussions of the challenging issues that have faced our community in recent weeks,” according to a statement issued by Marvin Krislov, Oberlin’s president, and three college deans.
A number of the incidents are being investigated by the college’s security staff and the Oberlin city police.
The incidents are deeply disturbing to students who saw the college as a protected universe, said Meredith Gadsby, the chair of the Afrikana Studies department, which hosted a teach-in at midday attended by about 300 students. “As inclusive as Oberlin has been historically and is at present, Oberlin also exists in the world,'’ she said.
Dr. Gadsby said the bias incidents caused students to fear for their safety. One purpose of the teach-in was to make them aware of groups that have formed, some in the past 24 hours in dorms, to respond.
“They’ll be addressing ways to publicly respond to the bias incidents with what I call positive propaganda and let people know, whoever the culprits are, that they’re being watched, and people are taking care of themselves and each other,'’ she said.
Other events scheduled for Monday included a demonstration and a convocation, as well as meetings of campus groups.
“I’m not sure why anyone is doing it, but those actions have made people uneasy and say we need to come together and discuss this,” said Scott Wargo, an Oberlin spokesman.
Here is Nicholas Stix's 2011 list of recent campus hate hoaxes.

50/50? I put my confidence in it being a hoax at 99%.
Remember, the worst kind of racism is invisible racism. What could be more terrifying than people walking around with unapproved thoughts in their minds?

I wondered why "Afrikan" in the story was spelled with a "k" and not a "c" and did some Googling, finding the following, attributed to Marcus Garvey:
“In the spelling Afrika, a ‘k’ is used rather than a ‘c’ because for many activists the “k” represents an acknowledgment that ‘Africa’ is not the true name of that vast continent. When one speaks of Afrika, they’re bringing an Afrikan-centered view to the meaning. Therefore, the Afrika spelled with a ‘k’ represents a redefined and potentially different Afrika, and also it symbolizes a coming back together of Afrikan people worldwide. Let it be understood that when one speaks of Afrika, and when most whites think of ‘Africa’, they are coming from two different worldviews. One view supports the Afrikan ethos, while the other view supports the European ethos.”
Somebody ought to give the denizens of the Afrikana Department a lesson in English orthography. And Oberlin certainly ought to offer the parents of its student a tuition refund on the two days of instruction they are paying for but which their offspring will not receive. Given the current price of the college this is not a sum to be dismissed out of hand. On the other hand, missing two days of further indoctrination in, e.g., Afrikana Studies or Womyns' studies or whatever the Oberlin equivalent is, should probably be regarded as a positive educational experience
Yeah, I'd say the odds are 99 to 1 that it's a hoax. When was the last time that one of these campus "hate crimes" turned out not to be a hoax?
"The incidents are deeply disturbing to students who saw the college as a protected universe"
So that's what's meant by university! Quite an Orwellian journey that word has taken since the sixties.
San Quentin's a well-protected universe too.
Steve,
Do you read your own blog?
Odds are 95% this is a hoax.

It's looking more like a 1000 to 1 that the KKK sighting is a hoax, or someone saw a spook.
If it takes a hoax to get us to have a serious discussion of inclusivity and white privilege then maybe we need more hoaxes.
According to Gawker, it's already been revealed as a hoax:
http://gawker.com/5988307/oberlin-cancels-classes-after-figure-in-kkk-robes-spotted-near-african-heritage-house
Update: According to a person with access to the faculty mailing list, faculty members had been told—"unofficially," (i.e., not through official channels)—that "the investigation into this incident was dropped when it was discovered that the person responsible was someone within the MRC [the Multicultural Resource Center], who would be disciplined internally"; according to conversations with other members of the Oberlin community, this appears to be a widespread, and widely-believed, rumor. (The same source, who asked to remain anonymous, claims that the MRC, whose former director, Eric Estes, is now the Dean of Students, has been criticized for the amount of student college money it receives, and that its leadership has "had trouble justifying how many campus coordinators they have on staff.")
Really, a Klan member around Oberlin? Apparently, the MRC believes you go big or go home when it comes to hoaxes.
"If it takes a hoax to get us to have a serious discussion of inclusivity and white privilege then maybe we need more hoaxes"
LOL. You da man, C. Van!
"The incidents are deeply disturbing to students who saw the college as a protected universe"
it's quite hard to keep out the human horde
It's probably the employees within the "Afrikana" dept doing whatever they vaguely claim is being done. They're probably trying to hype up some action for themselves. Might be some mo' money coming their way as a result of this hate panic.
Are they the types who also use a 'k' (or three of them) in spelling 'America'?
Today's liberals either don't or won't realize they are in control and there is no threat to them whatsoever. Be that as it may, they still need these incidents, whether real or not, to reinforce their beliefs. It's like they have to have a perpetual Reichstag Fire to keep the faith.
So, what happened is that an attention-seeking asshole sought, and got, lots of attention by acting like an asshole. Who could have forseen such an outcome?
It's not really relevant whether the attention-seeking asshole was liberal or conservative, or racist or antiracist. The massive upset reaction was the *point*, whatever the perp may claim his goals were later.
The world would be a far better place if attention-seeking assholes were awarded a great deal less public attention. A quiet expulsion, or disorderly conduct charge, or perhaps even an informal ass-kicking by the offended locals, with little or no public attention paid would make the world a better place.
The big mistake these people usually make in these situations is to call in the cops. Having it investigated inflates their own sense of victimhood to euphoric levels at first, but the anti-climax comes when the police see that it's got hate hoax written all over it and track down the perpetrator.
It wasn't a hoax -- it was just a campus Dairy Queen promotion!
Man Dressed as Ice Cream Cone Mistaken for KKK
(I can't remember -- maybe I read about this on ISteve in the first place.)
Therefore, the Afrika spelled with a ‘k’ represents a redefined and potentially different Afrika, and also it symbolizes a coming back together of Afrikan people worldwide. Yay for German!
FAKE BUT ACCURATE
One of Oberlin's claims to fame is being a stop on the Underground Railroad.
In spite of the mere 30 miles, which if you drive them seem like forever because of the monotonous flat cornfields, Oberlin's campus is very geographically separated from the Cleveland Metropolitan Area. That area itself gets slightly less liberal west of the Cuyahoga. Like much of the Midwest (rural Michigan, western NY, etc.), rural Ohio is home to some KKK strongholds.
So, as far as Campus Hate Hoaxes go, if this is one it was at least pretty well set up.
Here is another Oberlin gem from the archives. Subtitle: "Was planning a march against violence against women an inherently racist undertaking?"
http://www.salon.com/1999/08/23/oberlin/
Money shot:
On the first day of VAWAW, we woke to find an enormous banner hanging on the
Student Union bearing the words “WHITE SUPREMACY RULES.” The campus
community was stunned beyond belief. We wanted, needed, to believe
that it wasn’t perpetrated by students — that it was “outsiders,” most likely
a group of Ohio rednecks angry at the “commie faggot students” running
around town in their ripped-up clothes. Classes were canceled. A teach-in was held in the
cavernous chapel-cum-concert hall where the big-name musicians played. One
after another, members of Oberlin’s small student-of-color population took
the stage and said that, yes, they could believe Oberlin students had done it.
They told stories of the racism they’d encountered at Oberlin, the ways
they’d been marginalized from the day they arrived. Oh yes, they could
believe it.
Being Catholic I was never able to join the Klan but I always thought they did their Klan activities as a group. One guy standing outside of AfriKaa House in a funny outfit is not scary but 10 or so would be.
Not only are Klan members bigoted but they are apparently anti-social.
“In the spelling Afrika, a ‘k’ is used rather than a ‘c’ because for many activists the “k” represents an acknowledgment that ‘Africa’ is not the true name of that vast continent.
Heh, that's how the Germans spelled it as well.
I wonder if they realized that?
For the record, the recent events before this were mostly or all legitimate. They caught the two guys doing it the other day.
Gotta keep the Puritans scared of the Devil
Incidents like this are needed to mobilize the students against any right-leaning grooups and to test the loyalty of the students.
The campus can use this incident to restrict and harras any campus groups with conservative inclinations e.g. College Republicans, and by forcing them and everyone else to condemn this nonsense, they can enforce loyalty to the approved ideas.
No student in his right mind would support such a stunt, yet by joining the chorus of denunciation, he affirms his loyalty to the school's political agenda.
Somebody didn't want to take an exam
"What are the odds that this is yet another campus hate hoax? I'd say at least 50-50."
I'll be kind and assume you are being sarcastic or ironic, since you know as well as the rest of us how common these hoaxes are, and how unlikely it is in this day and age to see an actual KKK type anywhere, much less on a liberal arts college campus.
These hoaxes are Orwellian Two Minute Hate exercises. They serve several functions: intimidate the opposition, test the loyalty of the troops, indoctrinate the n00bs, create feelings of solidarity, weed out hidden opposition or doubters, etc. First person to suggest this is a hoax is immediately suspect as being "one of them".
It's like those meetings of Stalin where everyone in the room has to keep clapping until a bell sounds and Stalin starts his speech, because otherwise no one would stop clapping for fear of being the first person to stop clapping, and thus be arrested and sent to the gulag as being of suspect loyalty. Hence the automatic bell on a timer to end the enforced applause.
It's also a kind of liberal totalitarian snipe hunt. The snipe doesn't actually exist, but everyone has to pretend it is real.
C'mon, Steve, do the math. The chance that it's a hoax simply cannot be less that 90%.
Where are the bookies when this happens? Publicizing odds and inviting the publc to participate would, we'll, educate people. Isn't that what a college is for.
By the way, a "fake" hate crime is in fact a real hate crime. Just with a different target.

When? In the 1920s?
The KKK organizations that exist today are a joke. A PO Box and a website, maybe, and a small band of losers (half of whom are probably FBI or ADL informants). There are no KKK "strongholds" today, especially in the midwest; calling them such is simply an abuse of the word "stronghold".
These freaks (the liberals, not the Kluckers) want to pretend that it's still the 1920s, reds/commies are being rounded up, blacks lynched, etc., with impunity, because they have completely won everything and desperately need to keep up the delusion that they are the underdogs fighting the powers that be.
The students rallying for justice and tolerance should call themselves the Afrika Korps. The nominal leader would, of course, be the Field Marshall and each dormitory could have a gauleiter to keep an eye on unseemly words and acts. The students could wear brown to show their support for people of color, in time to be replaced by a bolder color statement ... und so weiter ...
In France, there is a long standing joke that the Germans spell culture with a K. Perhaps that goes for Afrika too. Mon Dieu.
I'm surprised they have an Afrikaner culture center at Oberlin.

Liberals are such fucking pussies. Why are they winning, again?
Here's another one at another elite college campus:
http://northbynorthwestern.com/story/students-hold-march-in-response-to-campus-racism/
The whole thing reeks of hypocrisy. If Oberlin and other colleges like it are so 'liberal' and 'inclusive' and 'diverse', why are they elitist in their student enrollment? Why is college community pretty much segregated from the non-college community, especially of blacks.
Take Yale and University of Chicago. Though close to black areas, there's a lot of segregation built into the community.
If 'liberal' means egalitarian, why create such privileged and enclosed setting for children of privileged upper middle classes and upper classes? What is so 'liberal' or 'inclusive' about separating oneself from most ordinary Americans? What is so 'progressive' about creating a privileged world of one's own? Why must elite liberals be only amongst themselves in a cloistered and protected world to be liberal? If liberalism is for the people and for equality, why is the practice of liberalism so precious and privileged?
If white liberals just love blacks and wanna rub shoulders with them, why go to the trouble of building African Heritage Centers? Entire Detroit and South Side of Chicago and huge swaths of Philadelphia and Cleveland are African Heritage centers with millions of blacks. If white liberals love that stuff, just go there and rub shoulders with blacks. Don't go to a college community made up mostly of privileged whites.
Of course, white libs don't wanna do that, and so they build quaint little African Heritage centers at elite colleges just like Marie Antoinette built quaint little cottages in within her palace walls so she could play at being a shepherdess. She could feel one-with-the-people.
What a dishonest way to 'be one with the Negroes'! Separate oneself from them and go to an elite college. But build a potemkin village African Heritage Center to make oneself believe that one is 'with the brothas and sistaz'.
As for all this gay stuff, what a convenient way to have the cake and eat it too. We know gays are privileged and love riches. Gays are among the most vain, fancy-pants, materialistic, picky, fussy wussy, narcissistic, and selfish people in the world, which is why they are, along with Jews, at the top of the totem pole. 'Gay rights' are convenient for liberals because (1) gays are not violent and thuggish like blacks (2) gays love money and power. This way, by being 'gay-friendly', liberals at places like Oberlin can indulge in privilege/narcissism(along with gays) and not fear being mugged or raped. But, as gays are designated as 'victims', being 'gay friendly' means that you're 'progressive' and fighting for the 'oppressed' even though you hang around gays because you love their power and privilege. It's so precious and phony. It's almost as funny as GOP conservatives pretending to be for the 'oppressed' Jews by mindlessly being pro-Zionist and pro-Israel on every issue. Oh those poor Jews with 300 nukes about to be wiped out by all those Nazi Palestinians with atomic slingshots. Of course, conservatives feign sympathy for 'Jewish victims' because they want some dough from Jews-as-victors.
And I find it funny that liberals at Oberlin are sooooo concerned about the physical safety of blacks on the campus. By golly, a bunch of KKK and neo-Nazis(who haunted the Girl with the Dragon Ass tattoo, no doubt) might pop out of the bushes and lynch and kill blacks and burn crosses on the quad!!!
If liberals really care about victims of violence and especially racial violence, haven't they heard about black on white crime in Cleveland and many other places? Do they know that most blacks are killed by other blacks all across America? If Oberlin is 30 miles away from Cleveland, I would expect Oberlin students to know about the real dangers faced by blacks and the real dangers faced by non-blacks from black violence.
But they ignore all such true reality and go into Salem Witchhunt hysteria mode over some likely 'hate hoaxes' or silly pranks.
As with the case at Northwestern University, these 'fight hate' rallies have become a vain form of white liberal narcissism and privilege. You see, these white liberals love to go to elite colleges and enjoy all the goodies and amenities. But as liberals and 'progressives', they are supposed to be FOR THE PEOPLE, especially Negroes. But they are separated from most real people and real problems. And so they fixate on some bogus rumors on campus to make a big perfumed stink about how much they are care!!!!
What a bunch of phonies. It's the 'compassion of privilege'.
Meanwhile, rap music blares on all over campus and Marxist professors sing praises to Che Guevara who wanted to shoot off nukes at the US.
"...suspend classes and all nonessential activities"
Heh, good one.
Despite all the yammering about 'hate', it seems to me that the real story behind this story is 'hate deficit'.
All these 'progressives' at elite colleges have had their minds filled by their 'radical' professors that they are crusaders against 'hate', but there's no 'hate' to be found anywhere.
They are like hounds eager to chase foxes, but there's no fox.
So, at the slightest whiff of 'hate', these 'progressives' go into a tizzy and howl and bark like mad.
Same thing with the Duke Lacrosse thing. Most interracial rapes are black on white--indeed, almost all of them--, but the 'liberal narrative' says 'hateful white male patriarchs violate helpless black women'. But such story was impossible to find, and so, when a story of white lacrosse players raping a black woman surfaced, it was like a Hallelujah moment for liberals. It's like FINALLY WE HAVE SOMETHING TO GO NUTS ABOUT. But then.... it turned out to be a phony.
Same with the media. They are ever on the lookout for the Evil White 'Racist' attacking and killing helpless defenseless Negroes. Meanwhile blacks who attack whites are only 'teens' and 'youths'.
So, when Zimmerman killed Martin, the media finally got a 'hate story' and ran it as 'evil white racist' guns down a cherubic black angel boy armed with only skittles. But then the story came out that Trayvon was 17, was beating up Zimmerman, and Zimmerman is of mixed race and not simply 'white'. Oh boy.
So, the problem is 'hate deficit'. Liberalism built up its moral credentials by fighting the likes of Bull Connor. But such folks are all gone. So, how can white liberals feel justified? They desperately look for more 'hate' and go wild when they find any sign of it. It's like vampires going nuts at the slightest whiff of blood.
So, I have an idea to solve the problem of 'hate deficit'. Every campus should have a 'hate center'. Actors will be hired to play KKK guys, neo-Nazis, gaybashers, male chauvinist pigs(though, what with slut pride, such types are being celebrated more and more), and the like.
So, once every month, some KKK actor will burn a cross on the quad and all the students can scream about injustice. And once a week, some guy will run around campus with a t-shirt that says "God hates fags", and students can jeer him and throw eggs at him. And so on.
This way, students at every liberal campus can make believe that they are on the frontline of fighting for 'social justice' and 'equality'.
I thought Oberlin went broke and closed. Wasn't there some other small lib arts college (with a similar progressive cachet) in Indiana or Ohio that did go broke?
Poor Oberlin. They *wish* there was a solid enemy out there for them to hate.
This is some sort of vicimization-dry-heaving. Nothing to vomit but that's the only reflex they have.
Tom Wolfe drive through the campus?

I thought Oberlin went broke and closed. Wasn't there some other small lib arts college (with a similar progressive cachet) in Indiana or Ohio that did go broke?
That would be Antioch College. But it appears they are trying to revive it.
Antioch reopened as an independent four-year college in the Autumn of 2011 with 35 students
Poor Oberlin. They *wish* there was a solid enemy out there for them to hate.
I think this applies to the GOP too. After the end of the Cold War, they couldn't stop hating on the Russians. Now they try to portray Iran and Al-Qaeda as existential threats to the USA. However, the real threat is that posed domestically by liberalism run amok. Yet the GOP is too afraid or too supportive, your pick, to put up a fight, and still goes abroad in search of monsters to destroy.

Thanks for the Garvey attribution explaining crazy speeling. Myself, whenever I see the word "Arika", I think Rommel and the Africa Korps, or Boer Kommandos. Was that the vibe they were going for, I wonder?

Quite true, in contemporary America, even Charlie Daniels couldn't find a Klansman in Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night. If there really was one on the Oberlin campus, chances would be good that it was an FBI or ADL stoolie. Or, perhaps, an "Afrikan".
I wonder if those coddled little twerps at Oberlin realize that the only reason they even have an "Afrikana Studies Department" is so that they could have a few black people on campus - because otherwise, they'd have virtually none.
From the comments thread at The Guardian story on this (take it with a grain of salt, I suppose):
‘…the toga guy has been identified as somebody within the program designed to counter offensive behavior on campus. His name has been kept secret in keeping with campus privacy regulations.’
The local cops say two students were nabbed for the earlier racist graffiti. What are the odds that a couple Klansmen decided 1) to go to Oberlin, and 2) were admitted by the school?
Somebody was out looking to gin up some controversy.
It's always someone named "Anonymous" who responds to my comments on here.
Anyway, I grew up in a suburb on Cleveland's west side in the 1990s and I remember my mom and grandfather getting angry about a few Klan meetings getting held somewhere in town one summer. There was also that KKK march in downtown Cleveland in '99 (Mayor White received praise from the ACLU for letting the Klan march there--different times!); how many of the Klansmen who attended it do you suppose drove more than a couple hundred miles?
I haven't lived in that area for a long time so maybe it's different now. People I know who live there say there's still Klan activity, but judging by their website, the Klan looks like it's in dire straits financially and otherwise. Maybe my term "stronghold" has to be taken in context. The "small band of losers/half FBI informants" depiction seems plausible.
Yeah no, the GOP definitely fights domestic liberalism with Supreme Court nominations etc. lets not forget that it was the GOP that stopped the amnesty push not the alt right who doesn't have a vote. It's the paleocons who have quit on America and thusly decided to fetishize the shirtless wonder over in Russia. Apparently they don't realize how gay and beta this is. Russia hasn't stopped be America's enemy just because he doesn't like Pussy Riot. It's like when people in Chicago root for the Yankess. There are two sides to root for in your city/country pick one. You can even try to focus the attentions of your side on issues you care more about, but don't go root for Putin because he rides horses shirtless that's the kind of creepy stuff that pops up in gay painters depictions of Obama.
When I was a kid in the midwest, I had a friend whose father (a trucker) was apparently involved with the KKK somehow. I have no idea how. He seemed nice enough to me, but for all I know he'd have been much less nice if I'd not been white.
One thing about the cartoon version of the world you get (or I got, anyway) as a kid: it doesn't fit too well with the fact that people are complicated and multifaceted. Someone can have evil or stupid political beliefs, and still be a fine human being, like my friend's dad. (His mom was much more liberal, would probably never have used the n-word, but was also a drunk who sponged off her kids. His dad probably had worse beliefs, but struck me as a much better human being.)
I think echoes of this cartoon view of the world suffuse our politics, like everyone is trying to decide who the good guys and bad guys are. (Wait, the Israelis are our friends, so they're the good guys, right? No? Then it must be the Palestinians who are the good guys. Right?) It makes me suspect most Americans have just watched too many bad movies.

Bullshit. The GOP would have gleefully rammed through an amnesty if their switch-boards had not been lighting up due to all the calls from ordinary conservative voters. Those weren't all - or even mostly - palecons, it's true. But they certainly also weren't GOP party hacks either.
Youve got a point Mr. Anon. But those ordinary GOP voters are doing an at least ok job changing the composition and behavior of those GOP hacks, but too many paleocons act like you are either Ron Paul or George Bush. The fact is tbere are a lot of GOPers that are better than Paul on immigration.
That's to say nothin of the fact that no matter how many jewish oligarchs Putin throws in prison he's not going to do anything to stop immigration to America. I wouldn't be surprised if the FSB doesn't occasionally throw money La Raza's way. Putin wants a weak US. It's simple who/whom.
the GOP definitely fights domestic liberalism with Supreme Court nominations etc
Thank God we had John Roberts to save us from Obamacare.
The fact is tbere are a lot of GOPers that are better than Paul on immigration.
Ron Paul is not a paleocon. He is a libertarian. He has many points of agreement with paleos, but immigration is not one of them.
If you want to know what a paleo thinks about immigration, see Pat Buchanan. Better yet read his books because it was his writings on whites becoming a minority that got him canned.
I'd take Pat Buchanan any day over the mainstream GOPers like McCain and company.
It's the paleocons who have quit on America and thusly decided to fetishize the shirtless wonder over in Russia. Apparently they don't realize how gay and beta this is.
Give me a break whiskey. Paleos did not quit America. It is the neocons who have quit the American people and wish to replace them with a more compliant Latin population.
It is the neocons who pushed for the free trade deals that hollowed out our blue collar work force.
It is the neocons who wish to continue US membership in the UN, and wish to maintain US membership in supranational organizations, like the WTO, where American sovereignty is eroded.
As far as fetishes, none can match the neocons in their loyalty to Israel. Watching them fall all over themselves to see which one is more pro-Israeli than the other is BETA and GAY. That is why the SNL skit was so funny. Because it was based in reality.
@7:15 am
Putin is gay and beta? Riding a norse shirtless is "creepy" (and again, gay)?
Hangups, there's a lot of hangups out there in internet-world.
Yes riding a horse shirtless when you own shirts is really gay.
Hiwatha doing it=understandable
Putin doing it=gay
Ok so Ron Paul isn't a paleocon and lets face it his gold buggery and constant name checkin of Taft make him at least partially a paleocon who are the paleocons in office then. Pat is great but he can't crack five percent nationally even with Reform party matching funds.
o Putin isn't beta although if a neo con acted the way he did you guys would think he was gay. What's gay in beta is to fellate the leader of an enemy power because you don't like the neo-cons.
o Putin isn't beta although if a neo con acted the way he did you guys would think he was gay. What's gay in beta is to fellate the leader of an enemy power because you don't like the neo-cons.
Who is worshiping Putin? Who is giving Putin's government billions of dollars and all out access to our top military weapons?
The reason people on blogs like this have some respect for Putin has nothing to do with hating neocons. It has more to do with the fact that in this day and age where White, Western leaders are routinely more worried about others than their own citizens, Putin appears to be a leader who puts the interest of his nation first. He routinely snubs the international left, especially over cultural issues. He also appears to be the only leader somewhat concerned with the plight of Christians in the middle east.
In short Putin appears to be a Russian patriot, and most on blogs like this wish we had American patriots in our government. Not some globalists who love a nation not their own.

I don't know any paleocons who don't vote, and who don't choose the most conservative candidate they think they can get. I think you're criticizing a mostly non-existant group; paleocon hermits.
And as far as Ron Paul goes, there are a lot of GOP politicians who are worse than him on immigration too. I've never heard Paul mention the issue much at all. He certainly hasn't pushed for a big amnesty. At the very least, he didn't make the problem worse, which is more than can be said for much of the GOP's leadership.
[Putin] also appears to be the only leader somewhat concerned with the plight of Christians in the middle east.
But not Muslims in his own country, just like Alexander II.
100% hoax.
As a black man who's lived in the southeastern United States, I've met plenty of older people (black) who had actually lived through Jim Crow. Even during the Great Depression, the Klan didn't travel around wearing robes in *daylight* by **themselves** (and in those days, you had to live in literal Klan strongholds with 50% of the white population as sworn in members, to see anything resembling open admission of their allegiance to those ideals.) A lone, robed Klansman would be asking to be be a victim of violence in the pre-Civil Rights Era, never mind now.
