a poem for dzhokhar

warning: hateful commenters trying to hack the blog by mimicking regular benevloent users’ names. please proceed with caution and respect.
given the amount of controversy surrounding this blog, i wrote about the act of writing of the poem HERE if you’d like to read it.
you don’t know how it felt to be in the womb but it must have been at least a little warmer than this.
you don’t know how intimately they’re recording your every move on closed-circuit cameras until you see your face reflected back at you through through the pulp.
you don’t know how to stop picking at your fingers. ...
you don’t know how orgasmic the act of taking in a lungful of oxygen is until they hold your head under the water.
you don’t know how many vietnamese soft rolls to order.
you don’t know how convinced your parents were that having children would be, absolutely, without question, the correct thing to do.
you don’t know how precious your iphone battery time was until you’re hiding in the bottom of the boat. ...
you don’t know how it’s possible to feel total compassion in one moment and total disconnection in the next moment.
you don’t know how things could change so incredibly fast.
you don’t know how to make something, but the instructions are on the internet.
you don’t know how to make sense of this massive parade.
you don’t know how to believe anyone anymore.
you don’t know how to tell the girl in the chair next to you that you’ve been peeking at her dissertation draft and there’s a grammatical typo in the actual file name.
you don’t know how to explain yourself.
you don’t want two percent but it’s all they have.
you don’t know how claustrophobic your house is until you can’t leave it.
you don’t know why you let that guy go without shooting him dead and stuffing him in some bushes between cambridge and watertown.
you don’t know where your friends went.
you don’t know how to dance but you give it a shot anyway....
you don’t know how to mourn your dead brother.
Think how much more peaceful and sensible the human race would be by now if psycho killers didn't make so many women want to have their babies.
Of course, contra Whiskey, it's the pretty boy younger brother, not the thuggish older brother, who has the poetess emitting poetry.

A Poem For Martin Richard
by Willie Feo
Martin wrote a project about World Peace while you were getting stoned and making bombs to kill him.
Martin will never grow up and have a cool shaggy rockstar haircut like you.
Martin won't have a misguided legion of foolish groupies mooning over how badly he was treated.
Martin died with braces on his teeth.
Martin's skinny little eight year old body was studded with nails and BBs that you stuck into him.
Martin was blown apart in front of his mother and father who loved him.
Martin's little sister lost her leg.
Fuck you, Dzokhar and everyone who feels sympathy for you.
Somebody should start a pool to tabulate the number of marriage proposals d'zokhar unchained receives between now and his date with the executioner.

Is it wrong to wish that these sorts of people be publicly punished, e.g. by execution, to make an example of them? There is something very, very wrong about these women, one wonders whether there is criminality in their DNA that they would be attracted to such. Ditto with Mrs Bomb brother. There should be some penalty.
ReplyDeleteyou don't know how much I've wanted to throw up in my mouth after I read your juvenile so-called poetry
ReplyDeleteGinsberg she's channeling ? Howl from the mid-fifties? ;)
ReplyDeleteAmanda Palmer is a piece of work. You should read up on her a bit. Makes absolutely awful music, and probably would be unknown, except that she is married to talented and popular writer Neil Gaiman (author of American Gods, which will be HBO's next Game of Thrones).
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, back to Amanda Palmer: thanks in part to her husband's 1.8 million Twitter followers, she raised over $1 million on Kickstarter for tour for a music tour. Then she asked local musicians to accompany her for no money. She got some deserved heat for that on the Interwebs.
Ah get born, keep warm
ReplyDeleteShort pants, romance, learn to dance
Get dressed, get blessed
Try to be a success
Please her, please him, buy gifts
Don't steal, don't lift
Twenty years of schoolin'
And they put you on the day shift
Look out kid
They keep it all hid
Better jump down a manhole
Light yourself a candle
Don't wear sandals
Try to avoid the scandals
Don't wanna be a bum
You better chew gum
The pump don't work
'Cause the vandals took the handles.
This was a pretty crappy poem. Which is kinda fitting, actually.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost too obvious to mention, but Palmer must love The Who.

"Think how much more peaceful and sensible the human race would be by now if psycho killers didn't make so many women want to have their babies."
ReplyDeleteIt would be irrelevant if liberals didn't allow them to have conjugal visits.
It doesn't rhyme. It reads like haiku, but with way more syllables.
ReplyDelete"Of course, contra Whiskey, it's the pretty boy younger brother, not the thuggish older brother, who has the poetess emitting poetry."
ReplyDeleteyounger is equally thuggish. We can debate if wrestling or boxing is more thuggish, but they are both pretty high up. And he ran over his own brother to get away.
I'm surprised no one has noticed how Dzhokhar Tsarnaev looks like a young Bob Dylan.
ReplyDeleteCompare and contrast.
Tsarnaev could be Dylan's next Hurricane, or maybe Bringing It All Back Home.
I agree with Mr. Feo's sentiments, but I think that his response would have been more effective if it contained rhyme and meter. That would have been a great contrast to Ms. Palmer's talentless prose.
ReplyDelete"I'm surprised no one has noticed how Dzhokhar Tsarnaev looks like a young Bob Dylan."
ReplyDeleteThe older brother looked a bit like John Turturro.
From Amanda Palmer, when she was with the Dresden Dolls. She seemed not to take herself quite so seriously then.
ReplyDeleteCoin operated boy
coin operated boy
sitting on the shelf he is just a toy
but i turn him on and he comes to life
automatic joy
that is why i want a coin operated boy
made of plastic and elastic
he is rugged and long-lasting
who could ever ever ask for more
love without complications galore
many shapes and weights to choose from
i will never leave my bedroom
i will never cry at night again
wrap my arms around him and pretend....
coin operated boy
all the other real ones that i destroy
cannot hold a candle to my new boy and i'll
never let him go and i'll never be alone
not with my coin operated boy......
I'm sorry, Amanda. Dzhokhar is kinda girly looking. You're going to have a lot of forceful competition for his butt from a lot of guys in the palce where he's going to spend the rest of his life. Guys who don't take no for an answer and like to knock soap bars out of other guys' hands when they're in the shower together.
ReplyDeleteMaybe when she finally gets her wish, she can tongue the hole he blasted in his throat.
ReplyDelete"Of course, contra Whiskey, it's the pretty boy younger brother, not the thuggish older brother, who has the poetess emitting poetry."
ReplyDeleteIn all fairness to Whiskey, that might be because he's...alive.
Pat Hannagan said :I'm surprised no one has noticed how Dzhokhar Tsarnaev looks like a young Bob Dylan.
ReplyDeleteIf I were Dylan, I would be flattered by your comparison. I just don't see it, other than maybe the hair.
By Chechen standards, Tzarnaev might be an epicene youth, but to me he looks like Trayvon Martin after a visit to The Kink's hairdresser.

"I'm surprised no one has noticed how Dzhokhar Tsarnaev looks like a young Bob Dylan."
ReplyDeleteAs a commenter on Amanda Palmer's website pointed out, he also looks like a young version of her husband, Neil Gaiman.
She identifies as a bisexual.
ReplyDeleteAnd her husband is named Neil Gayman.
What are the odds.
I actually met this broad years ago when she was a nobody. She struck me as particularly odd (even for a musician) in a stuck-up way even then. I've met a lot of famous and near-famous people over the years but she is one of a few that stuck out in my mind in a weirdly negative way.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, instant empathy with a Muslim mass-murderer kind of confirms the accuracy of my intuition on people.
Where is Whiskey when you need him?
ReplyDelete@anonymous - "There is something very, very wrong about these women, one wonders whether there is criminality in their DNA that they would be attracted to such."
ReplyDeletethe way their "thinking" goes (not that there's really much conscious thinking going on here) is that if their genes are combined with those of some tough guy -- a guy tougher than most other people out there -- then their genes will have a better chance of surviving and getting passed on ('cause their kids will be tough guys, too).
like i said, though, these women are just acting on feelings and not thinking about this in any way.
There's a weird romance to certain kinds of awful, destructive behavior. Especially when done by a young, good-looking man whose picture somehow presses the tortured rebel needing to be saved buttons of gullable women. Nor are men immune to this sort of thing--plenty of non-monstrous guys were very taken by Scarface or Tony Soprano, or any number of rappers.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the Aurora mass-shooter or the nut who shot Gabby Giffords gets poetry and love letters from women who want to save them. Quite possibly.
ROFTL
ReplyDelete"A Poem For Martin Richard" is actually more offensive, using the kid's death to score political points.
"Martin was blown apart in front of his mother and father who loved him. Martin's little sister lost her leg. Fuck you, Dzokhar and everyone who feels sympathy for you."
I don't think the family will much appreciate this.

"On January 1, 2010, she stated on her Twitter feed that she "might have told [Neil Gaiman] [she]'d marry him but also might have been drunk."[64] On January 15, 2010, Neil Gaiman and Palmer confirmed their engagement in an announcement made to their respective websites.[65][66] On November 16, 2010, Amanda Palmer hosted a flash mob wedding (not legally binding) for Gaiman's birthday in New Orleans.[67] On January 3, 2011, the couple announced, via Twitter, that they had legally married in a private ceremony.[68] The wedding took place in the parlor of writers Ayelet Waldman and Michael Chabon.[69]"
ReplyDeleteGaiman must be crazier than she is.
Amanda F. Palmer has plenty of problems all right, like drooling over murderers and not knowing how to tune the ukulele. But I will always salute her for "Map of Tasmania":
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcoreV10hI8
Palmer's stuff is crap but I don't think it's pro-Djohkar.
ReplyDelete"you don’t know how convinced your parents were that having children would be, absolutely, without question, the correct thing to do."
This seems to indicate that he and his brothers should have been aborted but weren't due to their mother's pro-life beliefs.
The 'poem' oscillates between "you don't know how much the world is against you" and "you really don't know jack shit, dummy."
It's empathy and mockery running amok. Palmer is just being racy and 'transgressive'. It's her shtick.
As a lesbo, I doubt if she has any real hots for the Joker.
Amanda Palmer's quoted poem seemed bad almost to the point of self-parody. Perhaps she's secretly Vogon? I can understand being moved to create art by something horrible and haunting in the news, but it's a pity it's not, at least to my unrefined tastes, actually good art.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I can tell, the whole story is pointless tragedy and bloodshed from beginning to end. No possible useful purpose could be served by blowing up some runners and spectators at a marathon, even if you were Al Qaida's staunchest supporter, certainly not if you were Chechniya's. The older brother had a wife and kid, the younger brother was in school and presumably had a decent life in front of him, and the people they blew up and shot were all also people with lives and accomplishments ahead of them. It was a depressing, awful clusterfuck from beginning to end, tragedy without even a scrap of possible good in it, suffering and loss with no purpose at all. In that, it has a lot in common with the unglamorous lunkhead variety of crime that seldom makes it into prime time TV--stupid, pointless, violent shit done by awful people that doesn't even make sense, like one of those armed robberies where the perp shoots two victims on a surveillance camera and makes off with $50 in cash, which he enjoys for the last couple days of freedom he will ever experience in his life.
"Perhaps she's secretly Vogon?"
ReplyDeleteThanks to NOTA for providing a moment of wit and levity in what I agree has been a sordid, depressing mess from the moment the first bomb exploded.
The older brother of Dhokar Unchained did pretty good. He was charismatic and dangerous enough to get a pretty, 19 year old Doctor's daughter to convert to Islam, marry him, and bear his kid. Then support him. While he beat her.
ReplyDeletePretty Alpha. As noted, Dhokar Unchained is alive, the other guy is dead.
Plus Dhokar is the perfect combination of baby-face looks and ultra violence.
I would not give much for Gaiman's marriage, no doubt the yearning for a "real" Alpha -- one who killed a lot of people -- is strong in Amanda Palmer. Over under for the divorce?
As for why women are like this (not all, but a good percentage and particularly the most attractive), it must be a feature of evolution.
In hunter-gatherer tribes, those with tendency to violence would spark vendettas that ended up killing a lot of people including women and kids. Still common but the findings of those studying stone age hunter-gatherers is that charisma and violence are low.
But in the agricultural era, with much higher populations, violence is an option to become, basically Saddam's wife with sons like Uday and Qusay. A woman might end up dead early, or a senior (or even junior) wife with those violent genes that can jump over existing aristocrats with ultra violence.
It is very risky, annihilation or the very top. But if successful -- well Ghenghis Khan's progeny number what, 20% of Mongolian men?
This is why sensible societies have boundaries, policed by other women, on female sexuality and limits on Rihanna to Amanda Palmer desire for thugs.
I've read Gaiman's stuff. He's good. What a shame he fell for a pretty face. Attached to a primal yearning for thuggery.
Here's a sample of Gaiman's writing.
ReplyDelete"If you didn't have a death sentence, he decided, then prison was, at best, only a temporary reprieve from life, for two reasons. First, life creeps back into prison. There are always places to go further down. Life goes on. And second, if you just hang in there, someday they're going to have to let you out.
"In the beginning it was too far away for Shadow to focus on. Then it became a distant beam of hope, and he learned how to tell himself 'this too shall pass' when the prison shit went down, as prison shit always did. One day the magic door would open and he'd walk through it."
Any comment necessary?
Here's a photo.
Everyone I despise is bobbing to the top in this bombing's aftermath.
"In all fairness to Whiskey, that might be because he's...alive."
ReplyDeleteDamn it Steve! Look what you’ve done. You’ve set up Truth to win the comment thread. And worse — with a comment that contains “In all fairness to Whiskey”.
Perhaps it's meant to be a dzhoke.
ReplyDeleteThere was a chick at Jokkah's (the -'er' ending is very inflammatory) College who said he seemed normal and that was appalled she slept...a few feet from him.
ReplyDeleteI have no clue about it myself, but I have heard that very attractive guys tend to view women in a not-super-positive light (nothing like the vile filth Whiskey spews) for how easy they are. For troglodyte Muslims, the slutty American girls throwing themselves at them probably confirms their opinion of Americans as immoral, and more dangerously, their opinion of American men as weak.
"Is it wrong to wish that these sorts of people be publicly punished, e.g. by execution, to make an example of them? There is something very, very wrong about these women, one wonders whether there is criminality in their DNA that they would be attracted to such. Ditto with Mrs Bomb brother. There should be some penalty."
ReplyDeleteNo, nobody should be punished for their thoughts, feelings and free speech.
But, of course, something is very wrong with women who are attracted to scum. They are usually (always, in my experience) scum themselves. They are low quality people who are lacking in compassion, ability to reflect and to see things in perspective. You know the mixed gender packs of youths who kick the elderly in the head because it's fun according to them? The women who are attracted to thugs and killers (and the men who envy the same thugs and killers and talk about them with respect) are kind of like that, except they are trainable enough to be socialized into acting a bit more civilized.
Oh, and it's not society that is at fault here. If your daughter's reaction upon learning the identity of the cute guy on the news is anything but to recoil, she has shit genes. My condolences.
The poem doesn't really seem to display much, if any, sexual attraction towards the bomber - I think it really arises out of typical far-leftist loathing toward decent society and desire to glorify the "transgressive." I find the anti-natalism in the line about having children to be the most interesting part (not the worst line, though - that has to be the one about the cell phone in the boat).
ReplyDeleteMy first introduction to Amanda Palmer was her ode to couch surfing a while back on TED Talks.
ReplyDeleteThis is even more nuttier. She's a real flake.
I just went looking for information on Gaiman, because I've been thinking of reading something of his. He's co-written books with Terry Pratchett of Discworld fame, which puts him in excellent company, and he's considered one of the best sci-fi/fantasy writers working today. Stephen King gives him high praise.
ReplyDeleteSo the first thing I find is this line from one of his books:
"Everybody has a secret world inside of them."
Gah! When even the best writers mix singular and plural in the feminist-demanded quest to avoid default-male pronouns, we're doomed. If you're too sensitive to use "him" in that sentence, at least rewrite the whole thing in the plural: "All people have secret worlds inside of them." Mixing them gives people who learned proper grammar a toothache.
C'mon, she's spent most of her adult life hanging around Cambridge with the guy-girls of the "dark cabaret" scene. She's the least feminine member of the Dresden Dolls, for God's sake.
ReplyDeleteAs Michelle Malkin pointed out, she does have an impressive collection of merkins, though.
And I'm sure that, as a bisexual, she gets a hankerin' for a penis with a real guy attached to it. Gaiman ain't it. A girl can dream, can't she?
"But, of course, something is very wrong with women who are attracted to scum. They are usually (always, in my experience) scum themselves. They are low quality people who are lacking in compassion, ability to reflect and to see things in perspective. You know the mixed gender packs of youths who kick the elderly in the head because it's fun according to them? The women who are attracted to thugs and killers (and the men who envy the same thugs and killers and talk about them with respect) are kind of like that, except they are trainable enough to be socialized into acting a bit more civilized."
ReplyDeleteWhich is why I originally wrote about criminality in their DNA. What happens is that traits that are passed on genetically become intertwined with the traits for attractions to said traits in the opposite sex.
e.g.
1. Criminality loving woman reproduces with criminal.
2. Offspring are born, some/most containing both the criminal gene and the criminal loving gene.
3. After a few iterations of this, the genes are mixed. A criminal's daughter will lust after criminals; a criminal lover's son will turn to crime.
So what ends up happening is that the woman is mostly a carrier, scum as you say. If she commits crime it's usually not of the violent type. Kind of like the Bomb Mother being a convicted shoplifter. When she has sons, they can turn out to be criminals even with a normal father. But her genes make her want to procreate with a criminal, ideally.
I would think it is in society's best interest that criminals be mostly eliminated from the gene pool. Conjugal visits for criminals just make me shake my head at the idiocy of PC, how stupid our society has become.
This Palmer actually has a backstory, insofar as a recent--dare I say--"iStevey" controversy when she attempted to launch her own traveling serf act. No, not surf rock--she wanted musicians to accompany her gratis. Google "Amanda Palmer Kickstarter"
ReplyDeleteGaiman is a very good writer. _Good Omens_ is hilarious, at least if you grew up with The Omen and Revelations and preachers thinking the End Times were at hand as part of your culture, and the _Sandman_ comic books are just amazing.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen any of Palmer's work other than this awful poem. For her sake, I hope it's not representative of her work generally. But then, freeform modern poetry has a huge tendency toward self-indulgent crap.
I haven't managed to finish reading the poem; in my unrefined opinion it's just terrible on its merits. As for its subject matter, as a fan of Palmer's and Gaiman's as well, I instantly assumed that Palmer wrote it out of some lefty Noble White Savior view of Bomb Boy the Younger as a victim of mean old white people. Who knows really what went through her head. I think she's very talented as a performer, and she's intelligent, but she's deeply culturally lefty with all the moral and spiritual bankruptcy that entails.
ReplyDelete
