Boehner's Boner

Own goal for Team Red:
Bipartisan House Group Reaches Preliminary Immigration Deal
By ASHLEY PARKER
A bipartisan group in the House working on an overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws reached a deal in principle Thursday evening, aides said. The group plans to introduce its bill in June.
Details of the compromise were not released, but, much like a bill introduced in the Senate, the House legislation will include a path to legalization for the 11 million undocumented workers already in the country, as well as increased border security measures. ...
The two-hour meeting Thursday evening, a last-ditch effort to save the legislation, finally produced the agreement in principle.
Speaker John A. Boehner had talked to the Republican members of the group last week and urged them to produce a bill. ...
One final issue that was resolved Thursday night, aides said, was how immigrants, who are not initially eligible for federal benefits, would pay for their health insurance costs — something Democrats and Republicans agreed would be a requirement for legal status. Exactly how the compromise resolved this issue was unclear.

Uh, uh, yeah, health care costs ... but Jason Richwine says Hispanics average lower in IQ!

So, there.
“If the takeaway is that you’ve got a bipartisan process in the House of Representatives that legalizes 11 million people, that’s a huge momentum-giver,” said Angela Kelley, the vice president of immigration policy at the [Democrat] Center for American Progress. “It adds more than it takes away. That’s what people will remember.”

  1. Don't you need a second side to have a compromise?

  3. Oh, God. This is the end. I guess using the IRS to suppress the Tea Party in the last election paid off big time.

  4. With talk of a "boner", why not bring Beevis and Butthead into the act again.

  5. Healthcare is free.

I thought the Republicans would fight against bad legislation, and try to defeat it. Now they are off to claim they have come up with a kinder, gentler way to harm the populace.

  6. As per usual, the Republicans manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

  7. Call your congressman. You can find their numbers at house.gov and senate.gov. Encourage people you know to do the same.

  9. The bill is reported to be many hundreds of pages long. Does anyone really know what's in it besides a few snippets here and there, or do they have to pass it first for us to find out? This city, as well as others, is a 'sanctuary' city. This was not done by the man-in-the-street demanding it but rather was implemented over his head by higher level elected officials such as the then mayor and aldermen. The people at the top demonstrated that the law doesn't mean anything to them, they'll do what they want. They set the example. The illegals will keep coming since they know nothing will happen to them, law or no law. They'll continue having anchor babies and go on with what they're doing. The welfare offices are already bursting with illegals as it is; perhaps a new law will qualify even more of them. If they were working for cash previously they'll continue to work off the books.

  10. Republicans love cheap labor Texas which has use the illegals even longer than California. Looked at South Texas, even a liberal publication showed counties in South Texas use food stamps way above the US, Cameron at 30 percent tied with the Bronx in New York but all we here is the Texas is doing so great even if their poverty rate is adjusted they stil have the 9th worst poverty in the US. Its because of the Bushes and Perry's even the good guys like Cruz have not spoken strongly for E-verify since a lot of illegals do the construcation work in Houston. Houston now has the 3rd highest illegal population of any major metro area but do ringwingers mention this they don't.

  12. Citizens in California and Texas both tried very hard to deny illegals welfare, education, healthcare, etc.

Federal judges stabbed us in the back, as did the non enforcement by the federal gov't. I lay all this on the feds.
