Dept. of not noticing the joke

As part of the the NYT's relentless gay promotion, featured tonight:
A Songwriter Is Out and Riding High in Nashville

By JODY ROSEN
Shane McAnally, who has helped write seven country No. 1 songs in recent years, found that his creativity flourished after he stopped hiding that he was gay.
“When I stopped hiding who I am, I started writing hits,” said Shane McAnally, at his home in Nashville.

Was being named "McAnally" a clue? The NYT includes this intriguing Correction:
This article has been revised to reflect the following correction:
Correction: May 24, 2013
An earlier version of this article included multiple misspellings of Shane McAnally’s surname.

  2. Not your best work-- sophomoric and not clever. Might have worked better if there was a reason to dislike him other than his sexuality.

My grandfather worked with a McAnnelly-- pronounced Mack-a-Nowly.

C'mon, admit that McAnnelly is nowhere near as funny as McAnally.

When all of America is run like a college campus, you can jail me for Inappropriate Laughter. Until then, I will continue to enjoy immature and dumb humor as I please.

  8. It was McAnally's choice to introduce his anus and issues pertaining to it into the public square. That's what coming out means. He wants us to know how he wants his anus used. The NYT (and probably McAnally himself) want to épater us with that piece of info. THEY have brought it up. And not because they wanted to be nice to us, either. So it would be especially obnoxious for them to object to us noticing the nature of McAnally's relationship to his anus and the importance of his anus to him.

Ah, this is the work of a supposedly high-IQ member of the human race, who looks down upon the rest of us. Lordy lord. Reality is a strange thing.

BTW, you are most effective when you point out actual non-rigorous thinking on the left. Stick with that, maybe?

  13. I'm glad that Mr. McAnally's sexuality didn't prevent his rise to the top. I personally admire a man who's been able to position himself effectively and who gets pleasure out what he does. As we all know, if you stand firm and keep pushing, things have a way of coming out all right.

Unfortunately, it can be a hard struggle in the beggining. If you're too strong, sometimes you have a tendency to create friction with those around you. So it's important to be careful whose passions you arouse.

The only thing I'm wondering is if McAnally has reached the climax of his journey.

  15. It's funny - I brought up the NYT website today and glanced at the top stories. I had just read a headline about a "Soccer star who is ready to be a leader" or some such. I immediately thought (after the next page had already come up) "Hmm, must be gay." Sure enough, I went back and saw it. The only way a non-NY sports story would be on the front page is if it has something to do with The Narrative.

  16. The NY Times should just rename itself the Advocate. It's 24/7 gay this and gay that. Now on the front page a story about some gay soccer player.

  20. Nashville, contrary to misty memories of 50 years ago, is a sink of homosexuality and Scots-Irish. This is where an early wave of LA second-raters went when LA became impossible (early 90s).

There is nothing authentically "country" in Nashville now; hasn't been for decades. The personalities (so-called) are 100% manufactured. Every chanteuse there has had a nose job, for example.

From Rodney King to McAnally - what a ride!

  22. Steve: The best way to get rid of the "I-don't-think-that's-the-least-bit-funny" trolls is to keep posting the type of material that so upsets them. Anyone who didn't LOL at this example of a disastrously backfiring (no pun intended) piece of homosexual propoaganda is too stupid or brainwashed to be reading your column. This NYT article is a perfect example of how the libtards have dumbed themselves down so effectively as to be incapable of any longer producing effective propaganda. It reminds me of an old Heinlein novella (Revolt in 2100?) in which anti-government moles who are apparently producing propaganda for a totaliatarian theocracy are actually producing works whose subliminal message is an attack on the system.

  26. Mr. Anon, one thing you have to kinda admire about libs (specially black libs) is their ability to take an ass-whippin' in one thread, and come back in the next like nothing happened.

It's a lot like a house cat. A house cat can perpetrate the world's worst ass-over-end-over-teacups blunder of a pratfall one microsecond, recover in another microsecond, and return to strutting along as if nothing happened and you're crazy for suggesting he isn't the smoothest cat in the universe the next.

'Course, house cats are classic sociopaths...

  27. Gayness isn't of course all that gay. Otherwise why all the suicides?

But most of the difficulties gays still have are self imposed. They have clamped down on what is actually known - thus allowing ignorance and superstition to flourish.

Spandrell is wrong. Homosexuality isn't genetic. But it is inborn. The INAH3 hypothalamic nucleus changes in utero - about the second trimester as I remember.

There is no free will in sex targeting. Gayness is not a life style like bell bottom trousers. It is better considered a life long debilitating disease. It seriously interferes with the natural biological function of sexual reproduction.

Gay men are attracted to men from birth but of course it doesn't show up very obviously until adolescence.

This means that all the pushing of the gay agenda so well documented in Ben Shapiro's "Primetime Propaganda" doesn't really do much. Parents worry needlessly that the gay activists who visit public schools to promote buggery will actually convince their progeny to be gay. That just doesn't happen. If the human sex drive were so fragile as to be modifiable by any fast talking salesmen, there would be no humans today.

Homosexuality is almost certainly an infection but it is not a social infection. You don't make someone a homosexual through argument.

the nature of McAnally's relationship to his anus and the importance of his anus to him.

In case anyone thinks this is over the top, I once again reference the director of NYC's Gay Men's Health Crisis, quoted in the Village Voice in 1996:

"We're never going to solve this epidemic until people understand how important it is for me to have a cock in my ass and another in my mouth."

  30. we need more gays in music, not less. there actually used to be more, today there are fewer.

the problem of course is that back then, they were great musicians but almost nobody talked about them being homosexuals and the media had almost zero interest in discussing it at all. they were great musicians first, homosexuals about fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth. pretty much every other thing about them was a much bigger part of their identity.

versus today, when any marginal figure in entertainment identifies himself as homosexual, there is a media circus and outpouring of support and recognition and their homosexuality is promulgated to become their primary identity and defining feature.

as stated before, we need more freddy mercuries, rob halfords, and elton johns and less justin biebers, chris browns, and kanye wests.

  32. Country music is as dead the country that is producing it. It's a wing of Hollywood; the music industrial complex. It's strayed so far from its roots that you can't call it country anymore. It's pop music with a twang.

I note that the NY Times refers to the guy, his "husband" and "their children." When I read crap like this I stop pretending to be sophisticated and amused. I find it disgusting. It's a lie. A man cannot have a husband, and he certainly cannot breed children with another man.

So far, the only country where people have the balls to stand up to these outrageous lies are is France. Who would have thought that the French would point the obvious fact that every child has a mother and a father? I guess it's that logical streak they have.

I'm sorry I don't conform to your stupid stereotypes. I can only properly be who I am. I don't actually respect Sharpton very much. Feel free to associate me with one of your other caricatures. Fun game, no?

Svigor thinks I was beat on some issue somewhere. I fail to notice where - please refer me?. I just find the sycophantic attitudes you guys have to Steve rather humorous. Really, do you have to defend him against me? I'm only pointing out that this is not in any way funny. I'd place this on the level of a knock-knock joke. I don't find them particularly insightful or funny.

Also, sorry, I lose interest after I've posted a couple of times. You know, I have (actual) work to get to, and can't respond to the million man army that is apparently all the fans of this blog.

Perhaps that is why country music is so crappy now. I've never been a fan of the genre, other than Johnny Cash and the odd song here and there, but it is now neither musically interesting or authentic. I remember hearing about one big new country star who comes from New Jersey.

Here's a guy who most likely is actually Scotch-Irish (true that he is a Mc rather than a Mac, but spellings get altered a lot in America), yet somehow the Jews are still at fault.

"This is where an early wave of LA second-raters went when LA became impossible (early 90s)."

This was humorously described in the in Alan Jackson song "Gone Country."

  40. diana: Check out the "red dirt" movement. Taking advantage of modern communications tech (as, I must admit, Whiskey has pointed out in the past) they seem to mostly short-circuit the middle man.

The Damn Quails and Jamey Johnson are examples. Country so country it just about can't be played on corporate radio, although there are red dirt stations in the high lonesomes of Texas.

The Damn Quails song "Just me and the whiskey" is so good it makes me wish I could feel bad.

Country is like rock---it's still out there, you just need to know where to look.

This is yet another example of leftist cultural triumphalism. They will not rest until they infiltrate and destroy every last non-leftist institution.

And their constant gloating shows they are no longer worried about any resistance to their razing of every last enclave of independent thought.

  42. >yet somehow the Jews are still at fault<

I worked in the Nashville music industry 1989-1994 (so I'm Zelig - sue me). And man, I KNOW what I'm talking about with this one. To pick up extra money on weekends, I was in many of these LA-transplants' new houses helping them move in. Can't think of many new people in the biz then (above the level of grip truck driver etc.) who weren't upfront about their Jewishness, not in a humorous way.
