Is George Zimmerman's lawyer taking notes?

From the New York Times:
The man, Ibragim Todashev, had been speaking for two hours in his apartment to officials from the Massachusetts State Police and the F.B.I. about Mr. Tsarnaev and the Sept. 11, 2011, murders in Waltham, Mass., when he suddenly grabbed an object and tried to attack the agent, one official said.
“He exploded and leapt at him,” said the official, who said the F.B.I. agent sustained minor injuries that required stitches.
A second law enforcement official said the shooting occurred after Mr. Todashev had admitted his role in the killings and had also implicated Mr. Tsarnaev. The official said he had begun writing out a statement when he asked to take a break.
“They got him to confess to the homicides, and they say, ‘Let’s write it down,’ and he starts writing it down. He goes to get a cigarette or something and then he goes off the deep end,” the second official said. “I don’t know what triggered him, and he goes after the agent.”
The official said Mr. Todashev had something in his hand, “a knife or a pipe or something.”
It was not certain who, or how many officers, had fired on Mr. Todashev. Nor was it clear why, with at least three law enforcement officials in the room, deadly force was used on someone without a firearm in his hands. Asked, one law enforcement official said: “If somebody jumps on you and you have a gun, and you don’t do something, the gun will quickly come into play.”

If Obama had a son, would he look like Ibragim?

  2. OT, but stocks just crashed 7.3% in Japan, despite their central bank doing what our Fed has been doing, but on steroids. We live in interesting times.

Also, on Bloomberg TV a little while ago, the anchors in the London studio did that bit where they look at that day's newspaper headlines. They were chatting about Joan Collins's 80th b-day. Crazy.

  3. I find quite odd that the murder of the three jewish friends never gained much media attention in 2011.

  4. I'm not buying the official story on this one. Too lazy to find the article at the moment, but there was another friend, also interviewed by the FBI, who claims that Todashev told him, after the first few interviews that he felt the FBI was trying to set him up in someway.

Between friends' characterization of the brothers, the younger's throat injury, scribbled confessions, and FBI interviews, altogether, it doesn't pass the smell test for me.

To me, of all of the peculiarities, the one that sticks out the most is the FBI interviewing the older brother multiple times. When the FBI investigates a potential terrorist, they put them under electronic surveillance (multiple examples of this tactic can be found on the internet to include warrantless GPS monitoring). They don't knock on the front door and tip them off.

There's a laundry list of peculiarities, but Gov conspiracies don't exist, so I'll be quiet now.

    Drug-related murders never do.

  6. I bet the FBI agent was eating his Skittles.

  7. The cops didn't hear about the murders until 9/12/11, so they didn't initially notice they occurred on the tenth anniversary of 9/11.

    Whatever. Can't be sure.

I haven't been paying close attention, but didn't I see something about how they were involved in drug dealing? Or was that just the one? That might have something to do with it - hard to play the fiddle for drug dealers.

  12. Anyone considering conspiracy theories ought to look at how big organizations operate. Obama made sure everyone backed off Muslims, because he "stood with the Muslims." Just as Britain has ordered the military not to wear uniforms or military themed t shirts off base. To avoid "angering" Muslims.

So the FBI laid off the bombing Chechen family even though it was obvious they were terrorists. Because the message was sent down.

Now its full CYA mode, they come across a Chechen being Chechen, who acts in typical, time honored Chechen fashion. There is something called the Tully/Tuller drill, where a man with a training (plastic) gun holstered is confronted with a man holding a (plastic, soft rubber) training knife. Its well known in self-defense/LEO circles that 21 feet is the min from where the man with a gun can get a shot off before being cut with the knife. [The soft rubber knives are usually coated with lipstick or chalk to show the marks.] It is the same principle as Bruce Lee's "one inch punch" -- physiologically action beats observation and reaction. It takes more time to observe and react to the threat than to act. I am not surprised the Agent was stabbed, the knife must have been fairly small (a small folder, routinely carried by most men under 60 in the US, they are terribly handy for opening packages) and the Chechen fairly untrained.

  13. Indeed, a good lawyer would blow up those final words you quoted, on a poster for the jury to stare at during closing argument. "You see that, ladies and gentlemen? That's the FBI talking, and that's the precise situation Mr. Zimmerman found himself in. Now, are you going to let them tell you that it's okay for the FBI, but it's not okay for Mr. Zimmerman? Although, in my experience, most judges would find some way to prevent defense counsel from authenticating that such words were really uttered by an FBI spokesman.

  14. If immigration restrictionists could recrute some chechens, they'd be an asset. I bet 2 or 3 would scare away 300 loony leftie protest mobs easily.

The murder of Matt Shepard certainly did.

  17. Notes on what? Law enforcement gets to do things other people can't. I hope Zimmerman's lawyer isn't stupid enough try to adopt this Sailer-approved strategy, because, like so many of them, it would be a disaster.

The FBI story give off the aroma of a substance that children have been known to refer to as Caca Do Do.

  19. Ever cut yourself? The "21 feet rule" applies here it seems. A man armed with a knife can cross that distance in a split second. You bring a knife to a gunfight, you will get shot.
The President has stated if they bring a knife you bring a gun. No higher authority than that!

George Zimmerman had a broken nose and lacerations to the back of the head, all captured on film. The most proximate eyewitness has stated GZ was on his back being beaten "MMA-style" and having his head smashed repeatedly into the concrete. His assailant was discovered by the local medical examiner to have two sets of injuries: some cuts on his knuckles and a single solitary gunshot wound. Somehow I do not think Mr. O'Mara will be perpetrating any 'disasters' unless he is handed the jury from hell.

Hunsdon: Like all the other Sailer strategies that we've tried, but haven't worked out? Like, umm. Hmm. Wait a minute here. What about . . . no, that was just a dream.

Much like Communism, true Sailerism has never been tried.

False Sailerism, half-assed Sailerism, pseudo Sailerism, 95% Sailerism, Sailerism-lite, quasi-Sailerism and de facto Sailerism haven't been tried either, AFAIK.

Especially if it is a woman with a gun. Female cops are three times more likely to shoot than male cops. One wonders.

And Muslim men love being dominated by females, we know that.
