Have you ever noticed how the Cult of Diversity turns respectable public discourse into one big 1980s Yakov Smirnoff routine?
From the San Jose Mercury-News:
In Silicon Valley, even high-achieving schools fail Latinos, report says
By Sharon Noguchi
SAN JOSE -- When it comes to preparing Latino children for college, some of the most successful school districts in the South Bay and Peninsula post the worst failure rates.
In the Sunnyvale elementary district, where 82 percent of Asian students become proficient in algebra, only 10 percent of Latino students do. The district is tied with Berryessa and San Mateo-Foster City for the lowest Latino algebra proficiency rate -- the greatest single predictor of college success -- among 54 school districts in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
The dismal figures signal an educational crisis, say authors of a report being released Wednesday, as districts fail the largest-growing demographic group. Latinos make up 38 percent of K-12 public school students in the two counties.
This has got to be parody.
ReplyDeleteEither that or the reporter is just dumb.
Steve, you've been totally meme-tastic lately. Is this the influence of one of your sons?
ReplyDeleteWe just need to spend a trillion dollars on mestizos as we have on blacks since the 1960s and then everything will be....well the same....but that's only because we will need to spend a trillion more...something like that.
ReplyDeleteYeah but the Latinos are the children of poor immigrants! And the victims of racism...
ReplyDelete"In the Sunnyvale elementary district, where 82 percent of Asian students become proficient in algebra, only 10 percent of Latino students do."
ReplyDeleteChildren of engineers vs. children of maids and construction workers.
Schools fail minorities, whites fail school.
ReplyDeleteThis is another reason I cancelled the San Jose Mercury-News years ago.
ReplyDeleteWhy do schools favor Asians over Latinos? Why is it that Asian students do better than Latino students even in classes taught by Latino teachers. I guess even Latino teachers are 'racist' against Latinos too.
ReplyDeleteSheeeeetez.

Steve, have you seen Arnold Kling's three-axis model (http://lyingeyes.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-three-axes-model.html).
ReplyDeleteIt fits rather nicely here. This is clearly shot through an oppresor-oppressed frame of thinking that finds it hard to think outside that box.
This is interesting. It seems that the Latin mentality is seeping into this country as well.
ReplyDeleteI recall watching a documentary about great train journeys around the world in the 1980s.
I think the show was British and in one episode, some guy traveled in Latin America. (The most interesting was the one about India. Pretty wild.)
He noted that when a Latino fiesta-dude dropped a glass, he didn't say, "I dropped the glass" but the "the glass dropped from me." So, instead of nurturing a culture of personal responsibility, Latin America promoted a culture of passivism where things happen to you rather than you do things or make things happen.
And it seems this mindset has now entered US journalism via PC.
So, I guess illegal aliens didn't enter this country illegally. This nation made them. They didn't make themselves illegal by breaking our laws. We made them illegal by... practicing our laws. Hmmm.
I'm confuuuuused. The keyboard failed my spelling.
"Sharon Noguchi"
ReplyDeleteAsians are such drones. As PC rules the US, yellow journalism is just about spouting the same old Liberal Establishment cliches.
Btw, wasn't there something about how black students are suspended not because of what they do but what they are? Of course, even schools administered by blacks tend to suspend many more black kids than other kinds of kids.
I guess even black schools fail black kids.
What do you expect after the border crossed them?
ReplyDelete"
ReplyDeleteSo, I guess illegal aliens didn't enter this country illegally. This nation made them. They didn't make themselves illegal by breaking our laws. We made them illegal by... practicing our laws. Hmmm. "
This is actually pretty spot on. You see in plenty of illegal immigrant mob actions (aka 'rallies') where the illegals are holding signs that say I DIDN'T CROSS THE BORDER THE BORDER CROSSED ME.
You can't make this up!
Someone should mention this to Ron Unz.
ReplyDeleteThe dismal figures signal an educational crisis, say authors of a report being released Wednesday, as districts fail the largest-growing demographic group. Latinos make up 38 percent of K-12 public school students in the two counties. Well, we know that Latinos are a greater makeup of the kiddie population since they tend to be younger than whties and have more kids which didn't start to drop until recently.
ReplyDeleteMy concern is the 18% deficient Asians. Isolation, depression, alienation, eventual suicide.
ReplyDeleteThe Latinos will survive and flourish, angst-free, in a community of their peers.
Thank Ronald Wilson Reagan for legalizing about 2 million in California almost 30 years ago for the present situation.
ReplyDeleteHispanics in the U.S are underrepresented in all white collar professions that require a triple digit I.Q.
ReplyDeleteThat is why for example in most U.S hospitals there are ZERO Hispanic doctors, yet they have TONS of Hispanic janitors.
Hispanics are by far the least white collar ethnic group in America. Hispanics are an overwhelmingly blue collar people.
Interesting I worked for a famed Mid-Atlantic hospital and I can think of atleast one Hispanic neurosurgeon. If I recall the narrative was he was an illegal from Mexico. Surprised a movie hasn't been made about him yet.
Deleteyou a big bad rayciss, steve. In order to atone for your raycism, you must do 10 Hail Marys, 20 Our Fathers, and you must tattoo the following slogan on yer chest: "I rebuke you, KKK! I rebuke and renouce you, evil raycist spirits!"

but but but....reagan was a rightwinger, and the conservatives will save us from this invasion...right...?
"Mistakes were made." Presidents Grant, Nixon, Reagan, Clinton. Also, Kissinger, Johnny Amnesty McCain, Richard Perle, Jamie Dimon.
ReplyDeleteThese things, they just happen.
but but but....reagan was a rightwinger, and the conservatives will save us from this invasion... Well, I'm not a righwinger or a leftwinger anymore. The Tea Party whose based always opposes illegal immmirgants leadership is bad on the issue or trying to sneak a lot of guestworker programs one reason I'm no longer a Republican.
ReplyDeleteAmerica is failing its immigrants! We just don't deserve them!
ReplyDeletebut but but....reagan was a rightwinger, and the conservatives will save us from this invasion... That's because few professional Mexicans moved to the states except for some places in Texas or a few escaping the drug lords. Some asian groups are not much above Mexicans from Southeast Asia but a lot smaller group.
ReplyDeleteI'm no fan of Asian subtlety, but
ReplyDeleteif you read carefully you'll
see the reporter isn't blaming the schools.
Limbaugh has been great on the immigration issue lately. What is bizarre is that a pro-amnesty group calling itself "Americans for a Conservative Direction" has been buying tons of ads on the show featuring Rubio and Ryan. So Rush talks about how this bill would spell the permanent end of conservatism in this country, then goes to a break and Rubio & Ryan talk about how immigrants will HATE, HATE, HATE (TM Whiskey) this plan because it's unbelievably tough on them. Does the "Americans for a Conservative Direction" (TM George Orwell) think Limbaugh's listeners will decide he's wrong and these two hacks are right?
ReplyDeleteAlso, don't Rubio and Ryan realize that what they're doing will kill any chance they have to be elected president? Sure, it may do the pro-amnesty dance to tap into the Adelson money, but the base will never turn out for them after this.
BTW, I hope Jewish open-borders supporters like Adelson glance at Ann Coulter's current column: "While 17 percent of all Americans were said to hold "strongly anti-Semitic" views, 35 percent of Hispanics did -- as did 44 percent of foreign-born Hispanics."
I particularly loved the lawsuit threat.
ReplyDeleteYes, a whole bunch of illegal immigrants show up in our schools and get crappy test scores. So now they'll sue.
BTW, I've been watching the Heartwood Academy and the other KIPP academy in the area (can't remember the name) for 2 years now. It has such astonishingly high numbers for black and Hispanics that they are either cheating literally (that is, cheating on the tests) or cheating by an incredibly high entrance standard.
Either way, someone should be writing a story on them. Because if those scores are real, gotten from San Jose blacks and Hispanics, then they have genuinely cracked the achievement gap. Since they almost certainly aren't real, someone should call them on it.
The ancient Egyptians had a saying-"The ears of a boy are on his back, and he will listen if you beat him." I wouldn't be surprised if the achievemeny gap was broken by a combination of both factors-teachers who teach the test, parents who lay down the law at home (as in, no PS3, internet or TV until you can break an 80.)
DeleteOr perhaps, starvation? Prior to the "All forms of dprivation are abuse", 80's, the most effective trigger for scholastic advancement in (some) immigrant families was "No supper". I can remember the efficacy of that particular ploy among West Indians in NYC. Then the liberals decided that schools should provide all three meals for their lower-income students...

ReplyDeleteI can't find the TV travelogue but the above link refers to it.
I recall it had some British guy traveling all over Latin America, including Brazil.
I remember the shows linked below too. Pretty interesting.

Brilliant, Sailer.
ReplyDeleteIn Communist America, you don't fail school, school fail YOU!
Pretty funny headline but not up to the standard set by The New York Times with their infamous "Prison Population Rises Despite Drop in Crime". But that's why they're the Times not the San Jose Mercury News.
ReplyDelete"Limbaugh has been great on the immigration issue lately. ReplyDeleteThat group is the red team of Zuckerberg et.al.'s group FWD.us; Steve has blogged about that a bunch of times. The only way those ads would work is if they were a tacit payoff to Limbaugh to stop talking about how bad amnesty is for the GOP. But, since he still talks about that, buying ads on his show is only marginally better for FWD.us than setting its cash on fire.
"Also, don't Rubio and Ryan realize that what they're doing will kill any chance they have to be elected president?"
Maybe not. Rubio is not a genius to begin with -- according to Wiki, he got a C+ average in high school, before going to the University of Florida and then law school at the University of Miami. He negotiated a deal with Chuck Schumer, who got a perfect 1600 on the SAT (when it was harder), and went on to Harvard College and Harvard Law.
Either Schumber or Rubio is right that amnesty will benefit his party. Knowing nothing else about the subject, if Rubio had any humility he'd ask himself, "if a guy a lot smarter than me thinks this will help the Democrats, why am I helping him?".
Given the area, I'd figure Zodiac came out of retirement to fail these kids before they even stepped off the school bus.

ReplyDeleteCool opening song and great first line.
"Aint you off the reservation..."
Lol.
Dave Pinsen: "Knowing nothing else about the subject, if Rubio had any humility he'd ask himself, "if a guy a lot smarter than me thinks this will help the Democrats, why am I helping him?".
ReplyDelete-
You've got to know if you're the rabbit or the fox.
This is awesome, Steve.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I hope Jewish open-borders supporters like Adelson glance at Ann Coulter's current column: "While 17 percent of all Americans were said to hold "strongly anti-Semitic" views, 35 percent of Hispanics did -- as did 44 percent of foreign-born Hispanics."
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter. They have no fear that Hispanics (or blacks or Asians) will take power and start oppressing Jews. Only whites are seen as having the potential for that kind of power. (Yes, it's a very racist viewpoint, but pretty much everyone shares it.) So 17% of whites are far scarier than 44% of Hispanics -- or even 100% of Hispanics.
There are quite a lot of suburbs south of Chicago where the black populations are up to 98% black. They seem to have the same problems. Blacks don't fail, the schools fail them. Wherever they go, its always the same; the schools always fail them.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Latin and Black kids don't like algebra. If that's the case, isn't it racist to expect them to do well in math?
ReplyDeleteJews need anti-semitism to maintain self-identity in the diaspora.
ReplyDeleteSo 17% of whites are far scarier than 44% of Hispanics -- or even 100% of Hispanics.
Good points. It's only starting to sink in with me.
One wonders about Sharon Naguchi.
ReplyDeleteShe also wrote in the News-Mercury - Can't calculate a tip or even balance your checkbook?
Take heart; maybe you can blame your brain -- specifically, the parietal cortex in the top back part of the head. And it could be a problem that has roots not in a failed arithmetic or "new math" lesson, but even earlier.
She spent her Fulbright grant studying the immigration experiences of various ethnic groups in Japan.
In this article she sounds like a total idiot, but the above references seem to indicate that she is more aware of racial and ethnic issues than it first appears.
Maybe she's playing a deeper game.

Remember that mentally ill, open-borders guy from Arizona that Rush hated so much who won the R nomination?
How about that crony capitalist, pro choice, Obamacare-loving, magic underwear, open borders guy who won the R nomination?
Or the dry drunk, semi-retarded, faux Texan, open borders guy who got elected? Twice.
Me neither.
ReplyDeleteHow humiliating for Coulter and for whites. "Look, look, jews, take us not them, we are less 'anti-Semitic'!" In her own country, no less.
It's great evidence of where the power lies in today's America.
Our Dream is in crisis, and the future of our vibrancy is at stake.
ReplyDeleteJews need anti-semitism to maintain self-identity in the diaspora.
ReplyDeleteDepressing, but true. It means that anti-semitism is integral to judaism. For judaism to survive, there needs to be anti-semitism but it should be managed and not get out of control.
Last Sunday's Seattle Times published an op-ed piece proposing different discipline standards for children of different races right next to one arguing all children should be enrolled in AP classes, because in order to "thrive in the 21st century" everyone "will need skills known only to diplomats just a decade ago."
ReplyDeleteThe bigger fear of jews isn't that whites will discriminate against jews, it's that whites will love, marry, or assimilate with jews.
ReplyDeleteGiven the many appealing attributes of the European-derived peoples and their resemblance to jews, the threat is not insignificant.
"BTW, I hope Jewish open-borders supporters like Adelson glance at Ann Coulter's current column: "While 17 percent of all Americans were said to hold "strongly anti-Semitic" views, 35 percent of Hispanics did -- as did 44 percent of foreign-born Hispanics." This applies perfectly to the reinterpretation of Latin American history according to a Marxist view. The blame for the economic backwardness, cultural and social are the Iberian colonizers who enslaved blacks and Indians, created a racist society based on pigmentocracy and exploited the country's natural resources without worrying about the colonization and development of their colonies.
However most people here, even the middle class, supposedly a bit smarter than average, did not think that thanks to European settlers that Latin American countries exist, for example. In Brazil, where I situate myself, the'' paradox'' is even more overwhelming, because thanks to the Portuguese who were today we hold one of the largest and richest national territories worldwide. This should be cause for admiration of our ancestors, after all, willing or not, they left us as heritage treasures. There is an exaggeration the exploitation of natural resources. They took many precious here, but we are still very rich in other resources, not to mention those who are below ground.
The average Brazilian hates the portuguese colonist, is indoctrinated or not (may be an attitude totally natural) to believe that they are to blame for all the country's ills.
Jokes about the supposed low intelligence of the Portuguese are very common as far as blonde jokes. But it is interesting to ask how supposed morons Iberians have mastered such a large territory, especially in comparison to their own territory in Europe?
One of the most annoying traits of some stupid people is that they do not know they are stupid.

Rush is playing the old Republican game, the only way to get rid of the illegla immirgants is to first stopped hiring them to do day labor for you unless you are over 50, you should be able to not have to go to day labors to do things about the house.

I read that Santa Clara, Orange and San Diego have more middle class Mexicans compared to La, the Central Valley. The problem is the above counties have rents skyhigh so even if the Mexicans have opporunity to moved up in let's say in Santa Clara the rent kills the mobility.
"Jews need anti-semitism to maintain self-identity in the diaspora."
ReplyDeleteDepressing, but true. It means that anti-semitism is integral to judaism. For judaism to survive, there needs to be anti-semitism but it should be managed and not get out of control.
I agree it is troubling because of its implications for reducing ethnic conflict. For all the energy we focus on eliminating animosity and friction among groups (something on which there is ostensible consensus), are we fighting an uphill battle because some political groups actually need conflict?
Here is why the schools are failing blacks and hispanics: They are trying to teach them. And of course they are not learning. Schools need to learn them! I heard it from a black woman. Why didn't we think of it?
ReplyDelete"While 17 percent of all Americans were said to hold "strongly anti-Semitic" views, 35 percent of Hispanics did -- as did 44 percent of foreign-born Hispanics."
ReplyDeleteBut Jews know hispanics hate gringos more, so this sucking up to Jews on Coulter's part aint gonna work.
Jews know it doesn't matter what hispans think. they are not gonna dominate the elites. As long as jews see whites as main rival, more immigration from hispanic and even muslim nations are more welcome.
Bananality of Evil.
ReplyDeleteHave cell phones and internet been good for cinematic narratives? I think not. They destroy time and space. Lots of suspense movies of the past wouldn't work if everyone had cell phones. And before internet, people did research or found out about stuff by going to archives and libraries. If Citizen Kane were made today, the reporter dude would sit in front a computer and look up everything about Kane. That aint no good.
ReplyDeleteFirst, whites are seen as having much more appeal as potential mates and spouses to jews. This is the number 1 jewish fear.
ReplyDeleteMost of us don't care that much about maintaining "Jewish unity" and aren't fearful of intermarriage. This is the fear of the Orthodox and leaders of Jewish organizations. Most of us still aren't Orthodox, and we didn't appoint those organizational leaders.
