From the NYT:
Fashion’s Blind Spot
By ERIC WILSON
Five years ago, the fashion industry faced a reckoning over the startling lack of diversity among the models on major designer runways. Reacting to complaints that many shows and magazines included nothing but white models, Vogue, in its July 2008 issue, featured a substantial article that asked, in its headline, “Is Fashion Racist?”...
And since then, almost nothing has changed.
The New York shows are as dominated by white models as they have been since the late 1990s, roughly at the end of the era of supermodels. Jezebel, a blog that has been tracking the appearance of minorities in fashion shows since the debate erupted, noted that the numbers are hardly encouraging. After a notable increase in 2009 that followed extensive news media coverage, the representation of black models has remained fairly steady until this year, when they accounted for only 6 percent of the looks shown at the last Fashion Week in February (down from 8.1 percent the previous season); 82.7 percent were worn by white models.
In Europe, where Phoebe Philo of Céline, Raf Simons of Dior and many others have presented entire collections using no black models at all, the opportunities have been even less favorable for minorities.
“There is something terribly wrong,” said Iman, one of the most iconic models in the world, who later created a successful cosmetics company. Her experience in the fashion scene of the 1980s and ’90s, when designers like Calvin Klein, Gianni Versace and Yves Saint Laurent routinely cast black models without question, was starkly different than that of young nonwhite models today, when the racial prejudice is all but explicitly stated. The increased appearance of Asian models over the last decade, for example, is often described specifically in terms of appealing to luxury customers in China.
Iman and her hubby, Lucifer Jones
“We have a president and a first lady who are black,” Iman said. “You would think things have changed, and then you realize that they have not. In fact, things have gone backward.”
My guess is that one reason for this trend away from black models is that global wealth is shifting away from America and Europe to Asia and some other places such as Brazil. Rich Asians and Latin Americans tend to find whites much more glamorous and appealing-looking than they find blacks. The rest of the world is a lot more racist than the North Atlantic.
Another reason is that fashion's gay mafia tend to be -- in their aesthetic tastes, feelings of superiority, and cruelty -- pretty much Nazis. (I finally made it through Bruno by Sacha Baron Cohen, who worked as a fashion model after college, and that's basically his point about gay fashionistas. If only Hitler had been allowed into art school ...)
Gay fashion designers barely even pay lip service to the dogmas of equality, so they never thought the rules of diversity applied to them. And for the last several years, they've been hearing constantly about what huge victims they are, so that's just made them even more self-centered and self-indulgent.

And for the last several years, they've been hearing constantly about what huge victims they are, so that's just made them even more self-centered and self-indulgent.
Similarly, gay men discriminate like mad in the fashion business against women who want to get into the field, but it's not a big deal because of Who? Whom?
6-7% sounds exactly right for the share of high-fashion purchased by African Americans in the USA. On one hand the number of them who can afford it is relatively low, but of those that can, a pretty high percentage do so.
ReplyDeleteBlack celebrities and lawyers seem to usually wear finer clothing than comparable whites, excluding hip-hoppers.
It seems that North Americans and Europeans tend to like black models, whereas Hispanics and Asians are ten times more colorist and racist.
ReplyDeleteBut a lot of Hispanics and Asians I've seen in general tend to like themselves, but also appreciate and admire European beauty and standards a lot.
I would consider myself a South American mixed-race woman (like a yellow-brown skinned mulatta) and I think European men tend to be quite rich, charismatic and handsome, followed by Hispanic men, and then Asian men.
I thought all of the white superheros on the 2012 comic book film Avengers
And I'm very angry that the comic book people made one of the Nordic gods black on TV. Ewwwwww, disgusting, disturbing on so many levels.
Note: Iman by the way is East African. East Africans have brown skin (instead of black skin) and they have Caucasoid features. Also, some of them are mixed with Arab. She's an outlier by African standards.
Everything about Brazil on this blog has puzzled me. Not because it's wrong. Not even because it's unsupported by citations. But because it's exaggerated. From my first visit to the country in 1986, to my fifteenth this year, I have boggled at how anyone with any experience of the place could imagine it any kind of bellwether.
ReplyDelete@John - A lot of people and foreigners tend to think of Brazil = Slum/Favela = 3rd world.
ReplyDeleteIn reality, Brazil is a 2nd world country as a whole, with a couple of places full of slums and dangerous people from the Northeast.
The South and the Southeast are the richest (white), whereas the Centre-West and the North are working to lower-middle class (mixed), and the Northeast is where all of the problem is (ironically, it has the highest black population).
The problems is that the Northeasterners tend to migrate to other parts of the country internally and ruin it.
"My guess is that one reason for this trend away from black models is that global wealth is shifting away from America and Europe to Asia and some other places such as Brazil. ReplyDeleteI'm curious. You've stated several times that you worked in data analysis for marketing firms.
What does using black models do for the bottom line? Help? Hurt? Make no difference either way?
Then too it would depend on who was being marketed to. As you say, I'm not sure using black models is going to move a lot of product in China or anywhere in Asia.
But has this ever been studied? Quantified to the point that anyone could predict that say using black models in the underwear campaign nets 10% less sales than the typical white hunger camp victims?
(As an aside, I've always thought that besides the obvious skin color, hair, and facial features black and white models resemble each other closely. Even when they use black models, they really look exactly like the white ones. I think it would be pretty easy to photoshop some.)
Now see the bottom line is serious. You can't expect someone to lose money to make a point. Racial justice and Jesus are just more features of the societal ad campaign; Mammon is the real god of this country.
Of course that doesn't explain why models look the way they do, when they are trying to get middle-aged women in Omaha to buy something.
ReplyDeleteSimilarly, gay men discriminate like mad in the fashion business against women who want to get into the field, but it's not a big deal because of Who? Whom?
Another original ISteve theme: mo's before ho's.

I'm a comic book fan from way back. Well I used to be, they pretty much suck now, except for the indies.
You can't really use the original Avengers and have one be black, if you use the source material much.
If you wanted to use a black character, personally I'd go with Bill Foster, though Hank Pym really ought to be introduced first. The Black Panther could work, but he is kind of a second generation Avenger in my book; he doesn't belong in the opening movie. Plus I haven't been keen on that character since they changed his personality and motivations.
A shame they are using Thanos in the second movie. Personally I'd rather see something with Hydra/A.I.M., Wakanda, Klaw, the Savage Land, and both kinds of Vibranium. (hire me now Hollywood)
As far as Heimdall being black? Eh, literally in close to 50 years of published books he doesn't do much other than stand on Bifrost with a sword, and have 2 or 3 panel conversations with people every decade or so.
It was kind of weird to see him have any kind of real role in the Thor movie. My memory may be bad though, the whole Asgard thing was played up a lot more when Kirby was on the book in the 60's.
Point being, he could have been a polka dotted giraffe with weird headgear (a Kirby must) as far as the comics were concerned. Being black really wasn't a stretch.
I'd be interested in seeing the results of a study of married black millionaires that looks at how many of them have wives of the same race.
ReplyDeleteWomen are less successful in fashion design for the same reason they lag in other creative professions: inferior talent and drive. On the average of course.
ReplyDeleteMost women who want to work in fashion would would rather ensconce themselves in the publishing suites. Queen Bee Anna holds considerable sway over the the hive of homo drones. But she's no idiot and she tends to favor male talent because, well, there's more of it to favor.
One of the linked articles in fact addresses the reluctance of women designers to hire other women. Because of "fear" or something. Right.
You are absolutely correct, however, in your observation that homos don't want real diversity in their playgrounds. Any of my upper-middle-class fag friends would love to have RuPaul come to his party, but at least one MSNBC aficionado among them will hang up the phone if a customer service agent turns out to be Sh'niqua.
Kai
Down here in Mexico, I'd say in fashion and the media it's the same as the U.S.
ReplyDeleteWhites make up about 70%. In the U.S., this roughly matches the demographics. But, in Mexico it overrepresents whites by a factor of 3 or more.
With blacks, the 5% in Mexico and the 20% or so in the U.S. roughly match the demographics.
What are we left with? The 10% brown mestizos in the U.S. and the 75% in Mexico. Absent.
Brown is not the new white, apparently.
I'd be interested in seeing the results of a study of married black millionaires that looks at how many of them have wives of the same race.
ReplyDeleteTheir first or second wife? There seems to be rumblings amongst black women that many black men, once they become successful, ditch their first wife, usually black, and then marry interracially.
From what I've heard, open racism within the gay dating world is also very prevalent.
ReplyDeleteFor example, people don't bat an eye when/if you say "no fats, no Asians".
The gay sex world has the blacks at the very bottom, then it's Asians, then it's Hispanics, Arabs/Middle Easterners are considered attractive and are placed fairly high up and at the very high end it's whites.
This sexual dynamic means that, for example, a young and fit Asian male can be expected to be banged by an older white, out of shape guy. Not as much as it used to be, but still. There are even terms for this, "rice queens"(white men who love submissive Asian men). It's kind of the gay version of yellow fever.
Also, colorism is rampant in South America where blond men are constantly featured on TV in leading acting roles.
If you look at East Asia, they prefer their own looks, obviously, but I was in China recently and it wasn't unusual to see white men and women(and we're talking Nordics here, with red/auburn/blond hair, not the Southern European phenotype) in ads or on TV.
Similarily, if you compare the mobile ads from Asian firms like Huawei, LG and so on who use home-grown ad firms, you'll notice their international ads feature almost only fair-haired people.
Samsung, which has hired an American firm, have ads with far more diversity. So it's ironic that the East Asians are in this sense far more exclusivist towards whites than white-owned ad firms in the U.S.
The same is true in fashion. East Asian models are preferred but you do see white models mixed in there from time to time. Not one black one, ever. The only East Asian fashion gurus who do that are actually American-born(or at least came to America at an early age and were shaped here), such as Jason Wu.
"And I'm very angry that the comic book people made one of the Nordic gods black on TV. Ewwwwww, disgusting, disturbing on so many levels."
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because when Hollywood cast whites in 'Asian roles', it's called whitewashing.
But when you cast blacks in white roles, like Nordic Gods, then it's okay?
We should use terms like blackwashing, yellowwashing etc.
By the way, is it just me, or is hollywood going nostalgic for a reason? You can cast a lot of whites without facing questions of "diversity".
Downton Abbey, Sherlock Holmes, now there's a BBC drama from England coming to America that's both being imported straight away and being adopted by an American firm with an American plotline. And there are other examples, Argo, the King's Speech, all these WWII movies.
The only historical dramas in Hollywood that you see a lot of non-whites in tend to be "black history movies" that usually feature a white cast just as big, like the coming 'The Butler' where blacks are portrayed very nicely and where they bend over backwards to make sure that white presidents(except Nixon and to a lesser extent Reagan, of course) are seen as overly benevolent when LBJ for instance used to call them 'fucking niggers' on a daily basis and JFK worried about being too nice to blacks because he could lose the white middle class vote(which is why he slow-walked civil rights legislation).
Another example is Lincoln, which you can't really film without doing the slavery bit. But really, the only "black cast" movies being done is by Tyler Perry. George Lucas tried that WWII movie with a black cast as airline pilots, but everyone hated it so much so he had to finance it himself.
I think that once Obama is out, all appearances will drop.
People won't have to pretend anymore and you could do "well we're a minority too" thing much more credibly since it'd be true among the under-18 crowd.
"Black celebrities and lawyers seem to usually wear finer clothing than comparable whites, excluding hip-hoppers."
ReplyDeleteThis is true, but this is also because of vanity, less so than style.
Black celebs tend to burn through cash on fancy homes, cars and clothes, even if they can't afford it, because they love to show off how rich they are.
White celebs are a little more(understatement of the week) frugal and long-term, hence you see less burnouts and "I've lost everyone" stories. There are always Nicolas Cages, though.
But still. It isn't just black boxers or black footballers, too.
I'd imagine the smartest celebs are probably East Asians in these matters. They tend to have high amounts of discipline against quick gratification.
Re: Brazil
ReplyDeleteI always laughed when I saw people saying Brazil is the new superpower, or South Africa or Turkey or whatever.
Brazil has a demographic problem far worse than 'Murica.
Whites in Brazil are not 50%, which is what Wikipedia shows. It's far lower, around 10-15% for pure whites. There's a lot of mixed people. It's similar in Argentina, where officially it's 95% white or whatever but most of these are like George Zimmerman at best and usually even less white.
The only reason Brazil has done not-terrible, is because of commodoties, like sugar, grain or oil. Their oil production is not only stalling, it's declining, and as China inevitably slows down, Brazil can't love off their backs.
So they're now growing at about the same rate as America and sometimes a bit slower. And most very clever Brazilians tend to immigrate to America anyway(and they're actually Europeans) like Mike Krieger, a Germanic man who was born in Brazil and co-founded Instagram after he went to Stanford. You have Hugo Barra of Google who's one of their top execs(a Southern European), who was born in Brazil but left for America.
These people leave because they know Brazil is never going to make it.
It's the same story with South Africans who leave for America, like Elon Musk.
America is better for being an entrepreneur than Europe, but you can live a decent life in Europe as a citizen. You can't really with the high crime and corruption in Brazil, South Africa and Turkey.
Equality in the dating world is a female thing, both gay and straight. I've known white women who've never dated black men or Asian men and whose behavior never indicated that they were interested in them none the less list "no preference" regarding ethnicity on their dating site profiles. It would be kinder to state one's true preference up front but girls don't want to look mean.
ReplyDeleteGloria
I watch Project Runway...and they have NO white models (there may be one blonde) and the difference is astounding. The models are all racially ambiguous mixed race types and they just don't have 'it' There's no spark and suddenly even the most beautiful designs are rendered K-mart level.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand seeing those models. They don't look good, and they don't do favors to the clothing.
Being black really wasn't a stretch.
ReplyDeleteIt was a deliberate provocation.
Black celebrities and lawyers seem to usually wear finer clothing than comparable whites, excluding hip-hoppers.
ReplyDeleteThat in itself tends to be oxymoronic. There aren't that many in number of black professionals and even among that subspecies you'll find ones who go for the loud and bright suits (stereotypically ghetto) as well as wearing the ten button suit jackets and or the jacket without a colllar type of thing.
As most know with pop culture among young people, hip hoppers set the fashion trends so whatever Kanye wears this year tends to be what goes.
ReplyDeleteBlack celebrities and lawyers seem to usually wear finer clothing than comparable whites, excluding hip-hoppers.
You better clarify that statement some. Among black celebrities would be counted athletes. We know that most of them, born in the ghetto, tend to follow hip hop fashion styles so while what they wear is expensive that doesnt mean that its going to have class, style, or taste.
But of course lots of bling, chains, etc.
Bruno was hilarious. Far funnier than Borat but then gays are funny by nature, that is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteA China Japan Korea century will be no Blacks allowed. Whites are fascinated with and admire Blacks but NE Asians not so much.
So it's fine for men to dominate every industry, unless those men are homosexuals, in which case it's as good as proof of unconscionable discrimination. Think about it, what other possibility is there? That a group might have more success in some area of endeavor because they're better at it? Steve finds the very idea absurd.
ReplyDeleteWorst of all the who-whom thinking rampant among the media prevents them from reporting on this issue. This gay mafia of nazis must be stopped!
Also, US Americans shouldn't go to Brazil and try to influence them. Most "clever" Brazilians don't leave for the USA. Sorry for that.
ReplyDeleteSteve, why did you caption David Bowie as 'Lucifer Jones'? I know that 'Jones' is his 'real' surname and it's pretty much documented fact that he was (or is) mixed up in some rather heavy Crowleyanism in his youth, but was the Lucifer caption an allusion to this or of his general rather gaunt and skinny sixty + year old plastic surgery self?
ReplyDeleteBowie never does anything without a sense of its visual impact, so if in this picture his hair and beard, combined with his triangular face, have a strangely satanic look to them, it's because Bowie wanted that effect.
ReplyDeleteI came up with Lucifer Jones because Jones is a name that's slightly comic in its commonplaceness when combined with a silly first name: like Cheech and Chong's Basketball Jones. And Jones is Bowie's real surname, as in his movie director son Desmond Jones.
I finally made it through Bruno by Sacha Baron Cohen, who worked as a fashion model after college, and that's basically his point about gay fashionistas. If only Hitler had been allowed into art school ...
ReplyDeleteOn the HBO version of the Ali G show, in a sketch called Polizei Fashion, Bruno would bring in a fashion critic to judge celebrities. A photo of a celebrity would come up on the screen, and Bruno would ask the critic: "Keep in the ghetto, or on the train to Auschwitz."
Of course, none of the critics got the joke, and would gleefully respond. It's the kind of joke only a Jew could tell, and only a gay man would fall for.
Pelican chin Steve, are you fucking a yellow woman? Is that why you are so mad? Do you want to see more panface wonders walk the runway?
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of female designers. No one's putting guns to their heads forcing them to put white models in clothes. Yet old, pathetic, vile Steve dislikes gay people so his focus is on them.
"A China Japan Korea century will be no Blacks allowed. Whites are fascinated with and admire Blacks but NE Asians not so much."
ReplyDeleteWhites are fascinated with and admire compassion as a sign of strength and superiority. NE Asians- not so much.
Also, while both the whites and the Asians of a certain class like to use "humility" as a sign of superiority, only whites flaunt it by complimenting obvious inferiors.
"The problems is that the Northeasterners tend to migrate to other parts of the country internally and ruin it."
ReplyDeleteYou said a mouthful there, buddy!
"I'm not sure using black models is going to move a lot of product in China or anywhere in Asia."
ReplyDeleteExcept toothpaste...
"Basketball Jones" wasn't a person's name in Cheech & Chong's novelty hit.
ReplyDelete"Basketball Jones" was a originally parody of a now-forgotten Seventies soul song called "Love Jones" by the vocal group Brighter Side of Darkness.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCF6IkMmmpY
"Jones" has long been a black slang term for an obsession or an addiction. The original song suggested that a man was, in Robert Palmer's words, addicted to love.
Cheech & Chong (with a guest appearance by falsetto singer "Tyrone Shoelaces") wrote a parody song about a kid who was obsessed with or addicted to basketball.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation for the Bruno flick. Hilarious.
ReplyDeleteEven funnier, the New Yorker review, which views the flick primarily as a biting satire on the homophobes, not as a biting satire on the gay fashion demimonde!
''The Anonymous comment above is quite idiotic.
ReplyDeleteBrazil is 45% European, 45% Mixed race, 2% Asian, 1% Amerindian and 7% Black.''
He is not wrong. Most Brazilians are mestizos and among self declared whites have
30% of predominantly white (west Asians in Europe) and half of this group consists of pure white, mostly descendants of Europeans.
The average white Brazilian is more like a Lebanese or Iraqi (Greek?) Light skin than with a typical European.
''Also, US Americans shouldn't go to Brazil and try to influence them. Most "clever" Brazilians don't leave for the USA. Sorry for that.''
Many intelligent Brazilians to immigrate to the U.S. but many others stay in Brazil because it is relatively easy to rising social and economic position of this country since you has characteristics that contribute to this rise.
I for one, do not present these characteristics, because I do not wish to contribute individually to a corrupt system like this.
Sunbeam, I think of all the Marvel Movies of the modern era, i.e., post Iron Man, THOR is the one that captures the feel of the book - it has a very Kirbyesque patina.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, a strange THOR casting decision(or not so strange - we are living in Steve's world after all ) was picking a diminutive Asian to play Hogun the Grimm . (In the comics, he is a massive block of muscle and wields a giant studded mace and has a Charles Bronson Slavic type vibe going on because, well, that is how Stan conceived of him). However, he is NOT Asian and is part of the Aesir. And Hogun is far more important part of the Marvel mythos than, say, Heimdell (who as really could have been a giant machine gun wielding giraffe with a funny hat and Kirby Crackle emanating from his eyes - although that is more Kamandi than Asgard, I suppose).
Anyway - it IS disturbing and adumbrates and/or exemplifies the overall attack on Western European culture through the subversion of culture - its very myths (even as re-conceived by a couple of Jewish guys - go figure). As another poster observed, cast a white guy in an Asian Role people demonstrate righteous anger with a conviction that only the diversity faithful demonstrate in our benighted age, i.e., check out the you tube comments on the trailer to Keaunu Reeves new movie 47 Ronin, or ask the comic nerd in your life how he feels about a film version of Akira taking place in NYC with white kids.
The funny thing is - I am sure Branagh wanted some "diversity", perhaps for the international market, but, as has been discussed, I don't think the Asian market really cares that much. I mean, in almost every anime, the characters are Caucasian.
I also agree that a lot of comics nowadays exhibit the corrosive rot found elsewhere in other cultural artifacts. (And a lot of the gate keepers, like Joe Quesada at Marvel, clearly have a political agenda that manifests itself throughout the universe they shape). Of course, it is not a new thing. I mean, check out the Christian (the founding and essential faith of of Western European/Faustian Culture post 1000 AD) bashing in the 1980's graphic novel "God Loves, Man Kills." Anyway - you really have to work hard to avoid it or just find books were is not so much in evidence. For instance, "Fear Agent" a great independent story of resistance to alien invasion by a white guy from Texas that has a a"one shot" story taking place outside of the main storyline with evil aliens that look like Bush and Cheney - but the story is generally so good you can ignore it.
When you do run across a book that runs counter to the Zeitgeist it really can be jarring, though. For instance, I was pleasantly surprised when I read "Captain America - Theater of War" by Paul Jenkins (from the UK - presumably socialist twit - currently living in Atlanta), which is a compilation of a bunch of different war stories. The whole book was like an unexpected shot to the gut. It was, I kid you not, really moving. Yeah, sure, it is easy to tell a Heroic WWII story - but Jenkins has one story - "Brothers In Arms" that brings home the fact that a lot members of the Wehrmacht were, you know, just regular guys doing a job, i.e., shooting at Allies, and not "evil Nazis" (who are now a stand in for all Whites, really). In "To Soldier On" - Jenkins tells the story of an Iraq vet, Sgt. Bryan Anderson (based around a vet that Jenkins knows) who is seriously wounded while fighting with Cap in Iraq. The story details his struggles to gain to overcome his injuries and gain the will to live back. It assiduously avoids politics and America bashing when would be oh so easy to do, which is rare.
"The South and the Southeast are the richest (white), whereas the Centre-West and the North are working to lower-middle class (mixed), and the Northeast is where all of the problem is (ironically, it has the highest black population)."
ReplyDeleteTHis is total nonsense. No one who hasn't been to Brazil thinks about the north, or the Indian regions, when one thinks about favelas and slums, he thinks about Rio and Sao Paulo.
Another reason for the disparity is because women are much more narcissistic than men. White women, who are main fashion consumers, want to see white female models.
ReplyDeleteWhite males, much to our own detriment, are by far the most socially conscious group. Due to all the propaganda to the contrary, we assume others are more conscious and they will treat us well. This is of course not what will happen when we lose our influence.
"But when you cast blacks in white roles, like Nordic Gods, then it's okay?"
ReplyDeleteUh, it's fiction, Sport. There isn't really a guy with a magic hammer that no one else can lift, that can fly.
"I'd imagine the smartest celebs are probably East Asians in these matters."
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's a grand sample size.
"Yet old, pathetic, vile Steve dislikes gay people so his focus is on them."
ReplyDeleteWeren't you here a couple days ago with that spiel?
You ought to pick a helpful name to use for your comments. "RuPaul, "Judy Garland", "Bette Midler", or something like that.
Heimdal being black didn't bother me as much as Hogun (of the warriors three) being Japanese. He was based off of Charles Bronson (who had a Lithuanian background, so let's throw in Slavic roots as well), so there was a clear idea of what he should have looked like, but the actor they chose (Tadanobu Asano) was the worst part of the entire movie (and there were some decent complaints).
ReplyDelete-could it be that black models simply went out of style?
ReplyDelete''THis is complete nonsense. No one who has not been to Brazil thinks about the north, or the Indian regions, When one thinks about favelas and slums, he thinks about Rio and Sao Paulo.''

Then you'd have no objection to Gerard Butler being cast in a remake of "Shaft"?
By the way, every movie made about Martin Luther King was - to a substantial degree - fiction.

ReplyDeleteNot a study, but there are black-oriented sites on the internet, like this, that discuss the issue, saying things like "Sidney Poitier- Look who’s coming to dinner and never left…" and "Harry Belafonte - He’s had a thing for that tender white meat since it was illegal…"
There's more at "Behind Every Rich Black Man There's a White Woman."I didn't know Frederick Douglass, Julian Bond, Craig Robinson (Michelle's brother), James Earl Jones, Bryant Gumbel, Vernon Jordan, Kofi Annan, Booker T. Washington, Gordon Parks, Juan Williams, and Van Jones all married white.
More adventures in the land of the willfully obtuse, I see.
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for Marvel to make Luke Cage (Power Man) a white man. (Maybe they could make him gay, too - that's all the rage.) Gerard Butler would be a good choice for the movie version. All the guys at AICN we be excited about it. The NYT would have be very supportive of the whole thing. Heck, I bet NOBODY would even notice or comment!
Yep. Sure. That's EXACTLY how it would go. Just stories, you know. Move it along, nothing to see. Now, move it--along.
