If the Parks Are Strewn With Garbage, It Must Be a Monday Morning
By LISA W. FODERARO
All summer and into the fall in Upper Manhattan
The concept of Upper Manhattan (e.g, Harlem) is hazy, but Upper Manhattan (as opposed to the Upper East Side and Upper West Side) traditionally started at 96th Street on the East. On the West Side, 108th St. was the usual boundary back in the Seinfeld Era.
, barbecuers and picnickers flock to the Riverside Park waterfront on Saturdays and Sundays to enjoy the Hudson River views and breezes. Hundreds, sometimes thousands, of people descend on a grassy stretch in the northern part of the park where grilling is permitted. Carne asada and barbecue chicken sizzles, children run, tattooed arms bop volleyballs and couples watch the sun settle over New Jersey.
Then comes Monday morning, which presents a Sisyphean struggle for maintenance workers like Willie Fitzgerald — a weekly encounter with the paper plates, confetti, plastic straws and food scraps that wind up on the grass, along paths and under picnic tables. ...
Local residents who arrive in the park early on Mondays, before cleanup crews arrive, are greeted with a jarring sight. “At first you think a flock of sea gulls is spread out on the lawn, but it’s paper plates and cups and litter everywhere,” said Nancy Maldonado, 48, who was sitting on a rock by the river. “If this was their house, they would never do this. We need better enforcement.”
Despite such complaints, park officials say their options are limited. ... The officers, who carry clubs and mace, focus mainly on loud music and alcohol, which, he pointed out, were the source of even more complaints.
Littering regulations are difficult to enforce for a few reasons, especially when it comes to large groups of relatives and friends who remain in the park for hours. “For the officers, it’s time-consuming to observe, and then who are you going to give the summons to?” Mr. Castro said. “If you go into a large crowd and the person resists, arguments happen and things spin out of control.”
It's interesting to contrast this behavior to the Burning Man festival on a dry lakebed in Nevada, where the damn dirty hippies from Northern California remove at the end of the week every single thing they've brought, including their dirty water from washing dishes.
If you read this article closely, you can get a sense of who the prime littering culprits are ("carne asada" for Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and Mexicans, "barbecue chicken" for African-Americans, etc.). But the sizable role of Latino culture in littering today is never explicitly mentioned.
It's not as if littering is some tragic flaw permanently inscribed in Latino DNA. It's a bad habit, a cultural defect. White Americans littered a lot during the postwar era when disposable containers and wrapping became widespread, so the manufacturers of the litter started a campaign to shame people into not littering. The culmination was that classic of racial shaming, the 1971 Crying Indian commercial showing how the White Man had made a mess of the Native American's landscape.
But, you can't shame any culture other than white Americans. Thus, when I Google the alliterative phrase "Latino littering" I just come up with references to my use of the phrase. Latino littering, while a real world problem, is just not a Thing in the indeasphere.
A reader writes:
This is funny...all about how the parks in Manhattan are covered in trash every Monday morning...well not all the parks, but the ones in Upper Manhattan are.
I have been to parks uptown like the Dyckman Fields which on weekends are filled with a thousand drunk Mexicans watching soccer games and buying tacos from illegal food vendors. Funny, but the parks downtown don't seem to be littered with so much garbage.
When I worked in Corona, Queens for the city the constant refrain from Dominicans about garbage was "Look at the streets here, they are dirty...the streets in the Jewish neighborhoods don't look like this!" They never seemed to make the jump to "maybe some people don't throw their trash in the streets." The implication was, Everybody naturally litters...but the Jews make sure that the city cleans up their streets.
Obviously, Jerry Seinfeld just drops trash all over the sidewalk in front of his Upper West Side home. What else is possible?
On the West Side, 108th St. was the usual boundary back in the Seinfeld Era.
ReplyDeleteBetween 108th St. and around 122nd St. you have Columbia University. Upper Manhattan/Harlem starts north of Columbia U.
The Mexican family next door to me routinely drop litter in their driveway and yard (among which I find evidence of their EBT and Medicaid use). A couple of months ago they did a driveway car repair, and there's still a big cardboard box out front spilling oily rags and worn-out parts. They seem oblivious to it and how bad it makes them look to their (so far, thankfully) non-NAM neighbors, all of whom have put a lot of work into beautifying their yards. They also seem to have a shaky grasp of the boundary between my property and theirs, rolling over my driveway so that they don't have to move one of their cars. Living next door to a series of trashy, inconsiderate Latino neighbors has been the primary driver of my resentment toward the immivasion.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to contrast this behavior to the Burning Man festival on a dry lakebed in Nevada, where the damn dirty hippies from Northern California remove at the end of the week every single thing they've brought, including their dirty water from washing dishes.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Burning Man is even really hippy anymore. It's kind of commercial and mainstream now. Apparently P. Diddy, Wesley Clark, and other celebrities were there.
Good luck with this one Steve, because isn't it already obvious?
ReplyDeleteCleaning up after yourself is 'acting white.' Those losers working sanitation jobs or prisoners have to clean it up.
In other words, as the reader wrote, yes, that is absolutely how they think.
So in authoritarian New York City, the cops can stop & frisk Non-Asian Minorities with or without a compelling reason, yet they can't harass them in order to stop them from trashing a public park and blasting ghetto music there every single weekend?
ReplyDeleteJust goes to show how impotent the law-and-order regime truly is. How it's mostly hocus-pocus rituals that the gullible public buys into. If the powers-that-be really could work such miracles, why are they so powerless against the trash in the park?
"Because they're busy attending to higher-priority offences" -- guess again. That stuff is way done from the early '90s, and the manpower is way up. They could send people over there to harass the NAMs.
Crime has fallen so much in New York because everybody has their guard up and doesn't trust anyone else, whether they're out in public or not. So they rarely make themselves vulnerable to sociopaths who would take advantage of them. Where in the '70s and '80s, New Yorkers had more of an open and gregarious attitude toward others. Lower suspiciousness opened them up to a greater risk of being exploited.
That's a change at the grassroots level, not a miracle of authoritarian planning.
But while social withdrawal can prevent crime, it can't enforce norms at a distance. So the park continues to look and sound like a dump because nobody's around to enforce norms at the grassroots level. And because law-and-order tactics are mostly ineffective feel-good displays, they can't swoop in and enforce norms where folks at the grassroots have given up norm enforcement.
It's not as if littering is some tragic flaw permanently inscribed in Latino DNA. It's a bad habit, a cultural defect.
ReplyDeleteWHOAH!!!
How the hell did that little snippet of blank-slate nihilism sneak its way into the heart of the Dark Enlightenment?
Has your BlogSpot account been hacked?
After reading this article I've come to the conclusion that the Times is *not* as politically correct as everyone assumes. While there's no explicit mention of race, it's obvious to almost everyone that minorities are the guilty parties. Moreover, this being a feature article rather than breaking news, there's no reason why the Times had to run it at all.
ReplyDeletePeter
Best not to complain about this slovenly behavior, lest you be deemed a racist.
ReplyDeleteBut those evil Tea Party haters clean up the parks where they hold rallies to the point they are cleaner than when they arrived.
"If the powers-that-be really could work such miracles, why are they so powerless against the trash in the park?"
ReplyDeleteBecause it's not their part of the park. The rich people's part of Central Park is neat and beautiful, though admittedly overcrowded.
Movie theaters would be a great place to see whether Latinos litter more. Movie houses are cleaned up after every show so you simply check the demographics of people filing out by appearance, then do a quick aisle by aisle inspection.
ReplyDeleteiPhone cameras would be the simplest tools for data collection.
For me, the key passage in the story was this:
ReplyDelete“For the officers, it’s time-consuming to observe, and then who are you going to give the summons to?” Mr. Castro said. “If you go into a large crowd and the person resists, arguments happen and things spin out of control."
In other words, you can't summons blacks and Hispanics because of the high probability of an extreme, feral, violent response. So litter away, people! And civilization weeps...
"How the hell did that little snippet of blank-slate nihilism sneak its way into the heart of the Dark Enlightenment?"
ReplyDeleteI hate the phrase Dark Enlightenment so much. It endorses the left's characterization of us as evil. We should be characterizing THE LEFT as dark. Which it is.
And yes, the leading figures of the original Enlightenment were race and gender realists, as was everyone in the 18th century. Even if you accept the enemy's characterization of race realism as dark, that still wouldn't make HBD darker than the original Enlightenment was.
It's too bad that the Hispanic population has reached the tipping point where they can't be shamed. Because shaming has worked on other newcomers in the past. Case in point - back in the early 90's I remember people constantly commenting on how filthy Indians were. Not as in littering, but as in not bathing and living in filth. I remember in college how one group of Indian students in just one apartment made the whole building reek. Flash forward to 2013 - I'd say it's been a good 10 years since I've heard anyone associate Indians with lack of cleanliness. I think word must have gotten back to them that whatever hygienic standards they practiced in India were simply not going to fly over in the good old US of A.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Latinos...
ReplyDeleteUh oh Part XXI and XXII!
There was a time when this was not so unacceptable in white culture. There was a Mad Men episode taking place when Don was still married to Betty and they show the family having a picnic in a park and then just leaving with all their trash strewn about. A present day Don Draper wouldn't do that - that is if he took his family took a public park.
ReplyDelete"When I worked in Corona, Queens for the city the constant refrain from Dominicans about garbage was "Look at the streets here, they are dirty...the "Streets in the Jewish neighborhoods don't look like this!" They never seemed to make the jump to "maybe some people don't throw their trash in the streets." The implication was, Everybody naturally litters...but the Jews make sure that the city cleans up their streets."
ReplyDeleteThis is in fact the Obama administration HUD position when it comes to the nature of entire neighborhoods - not just regards to littering. Essentially they are saying: the Jews and Whites make sure that the nation "assigns" them to good neighborhoods and (with malice) assigns minorities to bad ones.
"If the powers-that-be really could work such miracles, why are they so powerless against the trash in the park?"
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of "parks" in NYC. Many of the parks are fairly neglected. The popular, famous, touristy, etc., ones are well taken care of. Many of the "parks" aren't really parks at all. Some of them are just tiny alleyways between brownstones, with a bench and a dead tree and some bushes. Like this one:
http://untappedcities.com/2013/04/04/septuagesimo-uno-park/
The implication was, Everybody naturally litters...but the Jews make sure that the city cleans up their streets.
ReplyDeleteWow, these Dominicans sound like half the commenters on this blog.
"I don't think Burning Man is even really hippy anymore."
ReplyDeleteIt's not. It costs a ridiculous amount of money to go there now, so it's morphed into a place where rich white yuppies go to pretend that they're counterculture.
"The Mexican family next door to me routinely drop litter in their driveway and yard (among which I find evidence of their EBT and Medicaid use). A couple of months ago they did a driveway car repair, and there's still a big cardboard box out front spilling oily rags and worn-out parts. This is why it's important to live in a neighborhood with a good homeowner's association. A Mexican family renting across the street from me acted in mostly the same way. After the HOA said in no uncertain terms that they would sue the property owners to have the tenets evicted, they finally cleaned up their act. They were bitter about it, of course, and I haven't seen them sit outside once since then. Which suits me fine.
The 96th street rule was valid for a long time, and still is to some extent, but less so.
ReplyDeleteOn the east side it remains more valid than on the west. The key reason is that 96th is where the metro north (formerly the New York Central Rail Road) tracks come up above ground at Park Avenue. So, it’s not desirable to live along the elevated tracks. Park literally changes from hedge fund apartments to tenements in one block.
Along 5th Ave, which faces the park (until 110th), it is different. First, above 96th you still have some very nice co-op buildings. The price will be dramatically lower than it would be in a comparable building lower down the avenue, but still in the millions. Second, you have some very fine cultural institutions on upper 5th, such as the Museum of the City of New York. Third, and perhaps most important, there is Mt. Sinai Hospital, which has gobs of money, owns much of the land, and rules the area with an iron fist. So, the UES above 96th is OK more or less from 5th to Madison (sketchier the farther north you go, but still OK).
On the west side, it is the reverse. There is an atrocious housing project, for one thing. For years there was an insane asylum, which was eventually closed. But there are still a lot of crummy SRO hotels and “halfway houses” and treatment centers. The city is somewhat cynical about siting them there because the bureaucrats know that the hopelessly lib residents lack any kind of intellectual immune system to say “Wait, we really don’t need any more damned degenerates.” Instead, they tend to say, uneasily, “Um, yes, these are good people down on their luck and we are obligated to help, yeah, uh …”
So, generally the UWS along the park above 96th is bad, and very nonwhite and druggy and crime ridden but away from the park, quite nice and expensive. So, West End is good as is Riverside. Broadway is fine for shopping, it starts to get sketchy around Amsterdam.
Columbia is a huge help in that “good blocks” continue on the west west side until 123rd. Venturing east of Morningside Ave however can be suicidal. Broadway up there is lovely and very SWPL.
Morningside Park is black. I assume that what the author of the NYT piece means by “upper Manhattan” is really the truly latin part above Columbia. She keeps it vague so that, you know …
Once you get above Columbia the area is heavily Dominican, with some other Latin flavors mixed in. ’Twas not always so. Henry the K grew up up there. And, there is one rich area—Sugar Hill, or “Hamilton Terrace—with bougie blacks and gentrifying whites.
My own story on this, was that in 2011, I was in Long Beach, came in on a boat, docked at that harbor by the aquarium, got off to walk around. There was a large family of Mexicans having a birthday party for a kid. He opened all this presents. Then they left, with all the ribbons and wrapping paper—plus all their food trash—on the lovely well kept grass. It was just like that scene from season 1 of Mad Men. Except no SWPL alive today would even think about doing that.
blame culture vs shame culture vs game culture vs same culture vs lame culture vs fame culture vs tame culture vs name culture
ReplyDeleteSteve,
ReplyDeleteI'll bet it wasn't the disposable goods industry, even if they had an education effort. I'd have to believe that American tidiness is the result of a mixture of the Protestant "cleanliness is next to Godliness" ethic, middle class ability to see the consequences of actions, shaming litterbugs, the public health campaigns of the late 1800's, public and private schooling, Americanization of immigrants, like my grandparents- I could never even imagine of any of my relatives littering- and having been in military service. One of the problems is that if you mention the littering, i.e., shame a minority member for littering, the minority 1) loathes you, and 2) isn't exactly sure what the problem is, so you must be the problem.
(Of course I'm not saying all blacks, Mexicans, etc. litter.)
And to be fair, one of my favorite memories of living in NYC is the number of guys who appear on the streets, especially downtown, to sell umbrellas right before a rainstorm. And the ground being littered with busted umbrella after the storm ended. Now, it wasn't all blacks and other minorities buying and dumping those umbrellas on Wall Street and environs.
I use this to my advantage.
ReplyDeleteI litter all the time down here in Mexico. Usually tossing the empties from the night before in the nearby river or just leaving them by a big, parked pickup.
Just so they know I ain't a "gringo like from t.v." Plus, it reminds me of my childhood.
Lessons on spitting in public and ogling womens' behinds (I enjoy these too) to follow in the next episode of - "when in Mexico ..."
I am still trying to figure out the correlation between litter and fast food. The same thing these douche bags are doing to the environment they are doing to themselves. As a way of getting rid of the problem perhaps we should require big gulps come in a minimum 128 oz sizes.
ReplyDeleteNational Parks Try to Appeal to Minorities,
ReplyDeleteCompanies like REI and Columbia are paying non-whites to visit the parks.

Wow, these Dominicans sound like half the commenters on this blog.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about Dominicans is that the "Democrat wars" waged by psycho POTUSes (Wilson, LBJ) on the island of Hispañola were not too likely to have been actions brought about by Dominican lobbies and political action committees.
The wise Latinos of formerly beautiful Fairfax County, Va love to throw away their trash.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, they take our large county issued recycling bins and use them to dispose of the huge amount of trash they produce. The entire concept of different containers for trash and recycling seems to go over their heads. Even east Asians seem to be unable to handle this seemingly simple request.
The solution: Whitey consume less and recycle even more to balance out the charming foibles of our newcomers.
My suggestion would be they hire some low income kids (most of whom would be nonwhite) to go around and clean up after people in the parks. That junk should not sit overnight anyway, that's how NYC's vermin problem stays so huge.
ReplyDeleteGod knows a lot of youth unemployment in New York City is due to the official "Come everybody and stay, we'd love to have you" attitude about immigration of all kinds that every mayor has made clear since the 1980s.
Really, the city owes the young people some jobs giving away the jobs they could have had, and for causing many of the entry level jobs to pay so little.
That is my proposal: Turn the nasty litter into some money for the kids who need a break.
We might also find that New Yorkers who have cleaned up after others and their families and friends who hear all about the messes every week won't be so eager to leave a mess behind.
The wise Latinos of formerly beautiful Fairfax County, Va love to throw away their trash.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, they take our large county issued recycling bins and use them to dispose of the huge amount of trash they produce.
Where do you live? The majority of residential trash/recycling pickup in Fairfax County, VA is done by private companies that issue their own recycling bins.
Also I don't see how you'd notice trash in the individual recycling bins that people put out in front of their homes at the curb on pickup day, except for in the bins of your immediate neighbors. It's hard to determine what's in the bins from your car while driving around on pickup day before they're picked up.
The NY Times absolved minorities of any guilt for not being concerned with recycling back in 1990. I imagine littering belongs in the same category. Minorities are overwhelmed by life-and-death issues, you see.
ReplyDeleteThe Region; The Poor Mainly Recycle Poverty
By ALLAN R. GOLD
Published: December 30, 1990
ONE of the biggest disappointments for New York City's fledgling recycling program has been the low participation by residents in poorer, densely populated neighborhoods. In areas like Harlem or Bedford-Stuyvesant, already overwhelmed by life and death issues, recycling seems trivial.
notsaying said...My suggestion would be they hire some low income kids (most of whom would be nonwhite) to go around and clean up after people in the parks.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! It's part of the full employment program for NAMs. The most dysfunctional NAMs create social problems, creating government work for the somewhat less-dysfunctional NAMs as litter picker-uppers, social workers, foster parents, police, prison guards, parole officers, welfare case workers, ESL teachers, diversity trainers, community outreach directors, etc. This is what President Obama means when he says all the immigration from south of the border is good for the economy. It's like the old joke about how the early Chinese immigrants made their living by doing each other's laundry.
But the sizable role of Latino culture in littering today is never explicitly mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI lived for 3 years in a "diverse" neighborhood- Mexican and black. One day I noticed the nearby park had a mattress surrounded by empty beer bottles. As I had previously seen Mexicans drinking in the area, it was not difficult to conclude what ethnicity had done it.
I went home to get a magic marker. I wrote on the mattress: "Este parque es para el uso do todos. Este parque no es un basurero. Si Ustedes no quieren limpiar su basura, regresen a Mexico, mojados de mierda."
The message may have been overly blunt, but it got results. The next day the mattress and the beer bottles were gone.
For those who would have objected to my using the term "mojado," my reply is that I was once called mojado by Latino friends, for my proficiency in Spanish. For those who would object to my using "mierda," my reply is that the word fit those who turned a park into a garbage dump.
Moving back to the US from Japan, we were surprised that the recycling in the US (Charlotte NC) is only 1 bin - paper, cans, bottles, etc all in one bin. In Japan we separated glass by color, cans, PET bottles, etc. There is even a town there that has 37 separate recycling categories.
ReplyDelete25 years ago I got into a little trouble with the Law in New York City. My penance was to perform community service in the manner of cleaning up Flushing Meadows park every Saturday and Sunday for 6 weeks. Even 25 years ago the park was totally latin. My crew worked 10 hours per day, every Saturday and Sunday for 6 weeks cleaning up that trash. What an eye-opener.
ReplyDeleteBut latins do love their urban parks. Flushing Meadows is a big park (old 64 Worlds Fair grounds) and it was stuffed to the gills every weekend - picnics, barbecues, volleyball, soccer.
You are correct that littering is a cultural problem. I believe that latins can be persuaded to cherish their parks. The effort has to be made to get them to do so. White man has to assert some authority here. While a black man won't listen to white authority figures as a matter of principle, latins will listen to and act on good sense.
Right now, I am living in Kyoto, Japan. One of the first things I noticed when I got here was a phone book in a phone booth--it was intact, not defaced, and not attached to anything!!
ReplyDeleteSince arriving 9 months ago, I have witnessed multiple occasions on which a Japanese person has stopped to pick up random trash on the sidewalk, righted someone else's overturned parked bicycle, etc.
Kyoto has a recycling policy that everyone adheres to--yellow plastic bags for burnable trash, clear plastic for PET bottles or other recyclable plastics. Every morning, you leave one of your bags on a neighborhood pile and the sanitation workers pick it up by 9AM. It works very well.
The interesting thing is that the system plus the compulsive and compliant nature of the people covers up the incredible amount of waste that occurs in Japan.
Influenced by films like Akira Kurosawa's Dreams, I always thought Japan was one of the "greenest" nations on Earth. In fact, the Japanese are one of the most wasteful peoples I have visited.
Daniel says:
ReplyDelete"While a black man won't listen to white authority figures as a matter of principle, latins will listen to and act on good sense."
Consider how much better Mexicans drive in Los Angeles than in Mexico. The hard-nosed LAPD enforces American driving norms.
Bobby Womack says it's 110th St.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOg_8hCC4u4
In the 1880s Galton noticed that people with more life force and large families littered.
ReplyDeleteMy suggestion would be they hire some low income kids (most of whom would be nonwhite) to go around and clean up after people in the parks.
ReplyDeleteThey'll mainly just walk around socializing or texting on their phones while getting paid. Very little trash will be removed.
Along the same lines, the garbage cans in the subway and on NY city street corners are almost always full, even overflowing. Most of the trash is disposable food or drink waste. You would think it's impossible for people to walk a few blocks without drinking an ice coffee or snacking on potato chips.
ReplyDeleteIf this was their house, they would never do this
ReplyDeleteThat's probably wishful thinking.
Living next door to a series of trashy, inconsiderate Latino neighbors
That could apply to the whole country.
...back in the early 90's I remember people constantly commenting on how filthy [East] Indians were
Maybe I've read it wrong over the years, but many East Indians seem to wear their hearts on the sleeve; at times at least. I always have to be careful on my tech support calls as I've nearly driven some support analysts ('analysts') to tears from my blunt criticism of their abilities (or lack thereof).
I seem to recall William Buckley saying hte two only indications of social progress in his lifetime were the disappearance of anti-semitism and littering.
ReplyDeleteClean public spaces; high social capital; low population density; minimizing overcrowding, pollution, and congestion; a higher-wage/higher-cost economy less focused on consuming lots of cheap crap...if the right had smart and thoughtful leadership it would be able to make the sale to the clean, green SWPLs.
ReplyDeleteFortunately for the Confederacy of Whores, that isn't the case.
I dunno about Burning Man, but what I see around inland Northern Calif. is whites assimilating back to Latino norms
ReplyDeleteLove the geographical illiteracy in the very 1st comment, undoubtedly contributed by some Kaplan master from Rosemead. Spanish Harlem lies directly east of the perfumed Columbia physical plant.
ReplyDeleteMy suggestion would be they hire some low income kids (most of whom would be nonwhite) to go around and clean up after people in the parks. That junk should not sit overnight anyway, that's how NYC's vermin problem stays so huge.
ReplyDeleteNot a chance. The unions would go ballistic.

Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteI don't know where you're living, but here in Texas the Indians still REEK. My husband and I just quit another gym because of it. You can smell many of them from 20 feet off - seriously - and the odor is not merely from lack of bathing. It's compounded by what they eat, not washing their clothes, not using deodorant, and not bathing enough. Personal trainers have told me Indians have claimed their smell is a marker of cultural identity to them, when the trainers complained about it and tried to teach them about American hygienic and olfactory standards.
OTOH, the only individuals I've personally witnessed tossing trash out of a car or on the ground here are Chinese and (now arriving in massive numbers) the blacks. And in other news, while correlation is not causation, in the past six months the stores have begun chaining and/or alarming all their high-end purses. Been here for 20 years and that's brand new. Diversity, much? I hate it. I hate people.
"I seem to recall William Buckley saying..."
ReplyDeleteAre you sure the former wasn't social regress?
I was nearly exhausted after reading Harry Baldwin’s list of make-work government jobs necessitated by ill-behaved NAMS.
ReplyDeleteThough he did miss one: the tens of thousands of TSA shlubs who are now indispensable because of the crimes of third world malcontents allowed to be here.
@ironrailsironweights: "After reading this article I've come to the conclusion that the Times is *not* as politically correct as everyone assumes. While there's no explicit mention of race, it's obvious to almost everyone that minorities are the guilty parties."
ReplyDeleteNo, I think it's just that the NYT's environmentalism-PC trumps racial-PC in this instance.
Took the fam to visit grandma in San Diego this summer. I was struck by their annual Morning After Mess (July 5th clean up). Very detailed in amounts of garbage collected by beach. It does not tell the demographic makeup of each beach, but grandma assured us that the biggest cleanups happen at the more Mexican beaches. We made sure to spend the 4th at Torrey Pines.
ReplyDeletePersonal trainers have told me Indians have claimed their smell is a marker of cultural identity to them, when the trainers complained about it and tried to teach them about American hygienic and olfactory standards.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Your story sounds made up.
If you're going to make up stories, as people like you do to try to fit in, you should at least make them believable. The kind of Indians that "reek" like you say they do don't hire personal trainers at the gym and go around telling people that "their smell is a marker of cultural identity".

ReplyDeleteWhat kind of waste? Examples?
Mexican littering is not just a bad habit, it is just one more manifestation of their half-assed way of doing anything. I used to work for a good sized outfit, along with a lot of Mexicans. Nobody could get them to park the work trucks neatly and efficiently. I'd spend as much as 15 minutes extracting my truck from the mess because Mexicans simply did not care if they inconvenienced anybody, not even if they inconvenienced themselves. They'd stick the truck anywhere and split, unconcerned that they'd have to deal with the mess in the morning. OTOH, the Blacks were very attentive to parking courtesy, and would put a Mexican's wayward truck on the far side of the moon and let him spend half an hour looking for it.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just a habit that can be corrected, because they really don't see any kind of a problem. The degree of order necessary to keep a modern society running is offensive them, and besides, the Gringos will keep the lights on and the EBT card charged up.
Too bad, Troofie. Seems the latest Zimmerman "case" is like when he gunned down the wannabe thug: the more information comes out, the less guilty he looks. According to ABC this morning, the cops are still trying to figure out who was the aggressor.
ReplyDelete@gringo,
ReplyDeleteI put your Spanish (that you wrote on the discarded mattress through Google translate and got
This park is for use all do. This park is not a dump. If You do not want to clean up their trash, go back to Mexico, wet shit. "
I'm still confused about the last two words. Googlish is sometimes heard to understand.
@Harry Baldwin: "The most dysfunctional NAMs create social problems, creating government work for the somewhat less-dysfunctional NAMs as litter picker-uppers, social workers, foster parents, police, prison guards, parole officers, welfare case workers, ESL teachers, diversity trainers, community outreach directors, etc."
ReplyDeleteYep; must include government (local/state/federal) housing/PIO/Jobs programs directors/coordinators/staff persons
Yesterday, I was stopped at a red light behind two black females. The passenger opened the car door and simply dropped a large back of fast food trash in the middle of the road.
ReplyDelete@Anon: "Right now, I am living in Kyoto, Japan. One of the first things I noticed when I got here was a phone book in a phone booth..."
ReplyDeleteWhat's a phone booth?
Maybe East Tennessee is really trashy (it isn't) or much of Mexico City and Queretaro are unusually clean, but I don't see this Mexican littering thing.
ReplyDeleteIt has to be a function of the kind of Mexicans the US is getting or what effect Americanization has on them, to a large extent.
In D.F. people are almost continuously sweeping and scrubbing their sidewalks with almost laughable intensity. I never see any trash lying around.
You're getting the dregs, folks. That may hurt some feelings. But you are being used as sort of Mexico's Section 8 housing.
That should make you even angrier about immigration. It's bad enough to add millions of Mexicans to the US. But when most of these come from the bottom of Mexico's pile, it's dysgenic with a vengeance.
A related theory is the fish out of water theory. A peasant, for example, is all right in his natural habitat, the hinterlands. But set him in the city and neither improves; he and the city are only worsened. For an MSM example, cf. "The Beverly Hillbillies."
Mid-Bell-Curve Mexicans seem to be functional in Mexico, and their Left-halfers are sort of functional. Mexico is their natural habit and where they should stay, in my opinion. I think only economic disruption creates these refugees. The modern world, modern transportation and even (dare I say it) modern capitalism of the NAFTA type - the entire globolongna, multi-cultural agenda - is nation-wrecking, people-wrecking.
Kudzu is all right in its place, but in East Tennessee it has been a plague.
What's a phone booth?
ReplyDeleteHonestly how does a nation with no Superman justify still having phone booths. Especially as its not like people are using them for "sex". Have you every tried jacking off to tentacle porn in a phone booth? not prudent like papa bush would say
"Too bad, Troofie. Seems the latest Zimmerman "case" is like when he gunned down the wannabe thug: the more information comes out, the less guilty he looks"
ReplyDeleteI don't know if "less guilty" makes any sense, but I do know that when your wife wants to see you raped in a jail full of people who will have a hard on for you for 15 years, and your niece says that you molested her when she was a teen, you are guilty of something.
As I said the day the case concluded, we will get to see G-Zim turn into Rodney King, post verdict before our very eyes.
"But, you can't shame any culture other than white Americans."
ReplyDeleteYou could, as in 'Do you make a mess when you visit someone's else house?'
But that approach would be strictly verboten.

ReplyDeleteRequest for improvement of Google Translate's rendition of this statement:
"Este parque es para el uso do todos. Este parque no es un basurero. Si Ustedes no quieren limpiar su basura, regresen a Mexico, mojados de mierda."
Translated as follows:
"This park is for the use of everyone. This park is not a garbage dump. If you [plural] don't want to clean up your messes, go back to Mexico, you shitty wetbacks."
Mojado[s] is a term used in the Southwest for those who have illegally crossed the border. It refers to getting wet backs from crossing the Rio Grande.
I didn't realize Google Translate would muck up "mojados" so much, but upon realizing it doesn't do very well with slang, I shouldn't be so surprised. Next time I will post the translation along with the statement in Spanish. Sorry about that.
