Knockout Game explained by philosophers from Zeno to Heidegger

Commenter Modern Abraham points out:
Can we just exhaust all epistemic uncertainties right now and be done with it? Thumbing through my History of Western Philosophy, here is a crib sheet for the benefit of the Reality-based Community:
pre-Socratic: The knockout game is impossible because a fist would have to traverse an infinite number of infinitesimally small spaces just to reach a head.
Socratic: Those who admit they know nothing about the knockout game are wiser than those who think they do.
Aristotelian: No man can be called happy until he has died never having suffered the knockout game.
Scholastic: The knockout game is mentioned in neither the Bible or the Greek philosophers [sic- bad, second-hand translation from Arabic of a bad translation from the Greek]
Descartes: All I can know for certain is that I am thinking of the knockout game.
Leibniz: If the knockout game were real, this would not be the best of all possible worlds.
Hume: That getting punched in the head, blacking out, and hitting the concrete have always tended to follow one other in the past does not mean we ever have grounds to believe that getting punched in the head causes one to black out and hit the concrete (this one's for you, Yglesias!)
Kant: It is never permissible to lie, even if it is to misdirect knockout game players from their intended victim.
Hegel: The knockout game is the necessary antithesis to the Trayvon Martin shooting's thesis. Their synthesis will advance the World Spirit.
Nietzsche: All higher culture is based on the knockout game.
William James: The point is not whether the knockout game is good or bad, but is it useful?
Heidegger: To be a victim of the knockout game is to experience true dasein by being thrown into the world and having one's crushed, bleeding temple be finally ready-at-hand instead of just present-at-hand.

  11. I always try to understand the mentality of these people. (and I don't care that "these people" sounds racist". Imagine that you are ignored, and pushed around your whole life. Then suddenly, just like a super-hero origin story, you transform, seemingly overnight, into someone taller, faster and stronger than those around you. You can see the fear and intimidation in the reaction of others to your new powers. What would you do with your powers?

That is basically the experience of black boys in hundreds of cities every day. One day they are pushed around by their older brothers, sisters, moms, etc and the next thing they know, they are 6 feet tall and full of energy.

Again, imagine that you, right now, are middle aged 5'7" and you feel like you aren't very successful in life. Suddenly, you turn into Shaq in his prime. Might you not experiment with your new strength?

  30. > Kant: It is never permissible to lie, even if it is to misdirect knockout game players from their intended victim.

No; that is indeed an axiological statement. A real Kantian epistemological statement would read something like this, if non-abstract things weren't beneath herr professor:

If all reality in perception has a degree, between which and negation there is an endless sequence of ever smaller degrees, and if, nevertheless, every sense must have a determinate degree of receptivity for sensations; no perception, and consequently no experience is possible, which can prove, either immediately or mediately, an entire absence of all reality in a knock-out game; in other words, it is impossible ever to draw from experience a proof of the existence of empty space or of empty time. For in the first place, an entire absence of reality in a sensuous intuition cannot of course be an object of perception; secondly, such absence cannot be deduced from the contemplation of any single knock-out game, and the difference of the degrees in its reality; nor ought it ever to be admitted in explanation of any knock-out game. For if even the complete intuition of a determinate space or time is thoroughly real, that is, if no part thereof is empty, yet because every reality has its degree, which, with the extensive quantity of the knock-out game unchanged, can diminish through endless gradations down to nothing (the void), there must be infinitely graduated degrees, with which space or time is filled, and the intensive quantity in different phenomena may be smaller or greater, although the extensive quantity of the intuition remains equal and unaltered.

  33. Now it's probably true that the whole knockout game phenomenon is probably a relatively few isolated incidents that have been inflated by media hype. But, in the past, this has never bothered liberals before. Isolated or even entirely fictional incidents like the "Duke rape" or the "right wing gunman" (who almost always turns out to be a leftist nutcase) have been used to tar all white men as demons. The narrative and the "lessons we could learn from it" were much more important than piddling nitpicking questions about what actually happened. But now that the shoe is on the other foot, suddenly they are fastidious seekers of truth and no incident ever quite fits the knockout game profile sufficiently to count.

Major and monumental, but that is not likely to happen as long as the political alternative right is so infected with white nationalists and people who blame Jews for everything. Conservative Jews just keep their mouths shut, which allows the leftists to rule the roost.

Meanwhile, it seems that Jews were the least likely to vote for De Blasio in the recent mayoral elections. This is a respectable story that has not been covered by the mainstream press. It was however covered extensively in the Jewish online news outlets. Google it for yourself.

  43. Schopenhauer: I know of no greater absurdity than that propounded by most systems of philosophy in declaring the knock out game to be negative in its character. The knock out game is just what is positive; it makes its own existence felt.

It is the good which is negative; in other words, happiness and satisfaction always imply some desire fulfilled, some state of knock out game brought to an end. This explains the fact that we generally find pleasure to be not nearly so pleasant as we expected, and the knock out game very much more painful.

  82. Whatever happened to the truism "a conservative is a liberal who was mugged by reality"?

I guess it takes more than one mugging and beating. In the 70s and 80s, many liberals saw black crime as a recurring problem, but today, it happens less often, at least to white/Jewish/homo liberals, and so they can see such incidents more as bad luck than as a race problem.

It seems Yglesias feels that the attack on him was an isolated incident and he need not fear such in the future.
He also seems to take pride in acting so rational, even-tempered, and cool, as if to prove that he doesn't blow up a single incident into racial panic.
He may also take pride as a white liberal of profound understanding of the underlying causes for such violence, i.e. black thugs who attacked him happened to be less privileged, so they need to be understood to some degree, if not exactly forgiven. Like Jesus, he turns the other cheek.

But if attacks on him--and his friends and family members--became a regular occurrence, he may be forced to change his mind. But as DC becomes whiter and safer, that doesn't seem likely. He can live in a bubble that is growing ever safer and pleasant for people like him. When I visited DC a few yrs back, I too was much impressed by the changes of so many parts of the city. Much of the city really used to be a dump, but it looks like a whole new place and not just in the touristy places.

    https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/investigate-nature-extent-and-racial-context-knockout-game-well-its-societal-implications/JKdkTdnY

"Investigate the nature, extent, and racial context of the "knockout game", as well as its societal implications."

The "knockout game" deserves government attention for two reasons. First, the violence appears to have been very widespread for many years, during which the mainstream media ignored or downplayed the problem; this needlessly allowed the game to proliferate. Second, the mainstream media may have ignored or downplayed the problem because it involves a racial angle which the media may be uncomfortable or unfamiliar dealing with, one in which African Americans victimize people of other races, often white people. It was not until October 2013, when Jews in Brooklyn were specifically targeted, that the "knockout game" gained widespread attention (Jews being more easily conceptualized as victims). Related evidence is in incomplete media reports and internet videos that both date back years.

  88. God knows I’m not a statistician – indeed, I’m horrible at math – but using the report you provided Mr. Sailer as a baseline, here is how I see the issues of KOs. According to Figure 17, for instance, from 1980-2008 about 5 or so whites per 100,000 on average were murdered per year, which in a baseline American population of 270,000,000 would be 13,5000 white homicides a year. According to a line on page 13: “84% of white victims were killed by whites,” which means that 16% of whites were murdered by blacks, or on average 2160 whites a year. Let’s assume for the sake of argument that 10% of those murders were KOs, in which blacks therefore murdered 216 whites out of some racist motive. Such KOs then would amount to 1.6% of all white homicides. How significant is that? Perhaps somewhat, although is it some huge trend? I tend to think not.
Of course, if you were to assume KOs were a much larger percentage of black on white murders – say 50%, or 8% of all white victims of murder, then that would be pretty significant. Lots of luck though trying to determine whether that many murders were truly the result of racism, versus a white victim just having had the bad luck of being a regular crime victim irrespective of race. It seems to me then that the proper attitude towards this issue is one of agnosticism, unless you can really nail down the fact that blacks are truly murdering a large number of their white victims out of racist motives.
Again, like I said, I know very little about statistics (and I’m also doing this in the middle of the night and may be making mistakes), so I’m very open to being corrected.

maybe we should call it Fistivus--a holiday that one can practice any day of the year--but not in Manhattan or on certain people.

btw Urban Dictionary reveals the word as unused at the moment.

Much Madness is divinest Sense —
    To a discerning Eye —

In this, as All, prevail —
Assent — and you are sane —
    Demur — you're straightway dangerous —

Where Jews are the majority, they are for nationalism, identity and pride, border patrol, heritage, and gun rights.

Where Jews are the minority, they are against the nationalism, identity, and gun rights for the majority population as such might challenge the power of elite Jewish overlords.

This seeming contradiction is actually a consistency since both agendas serve Jewish power and interest. But dimwit goyim just don't understand for their IQs are lower than that of cunning Jews.

  114. blacks feel especially emboldened by the knowledge that they are stronger than other races

Knowledge doesnt come into it. At some level they are aware that they are allowed to get away with such activities.

    Why?

Because most white people, in turn, are aware that any unpleasant interaction with blacks will be viewed through the lens of racism. With them as the bad guy. Its drilled into whites 24/7.

When it comes to violence it means less willingness to defend themselves, to accuse their attackers and so on. eg. One wrong word at the time (or 20 years earlier) damns them as the true aggressor
