Feminism: "Feelings / Nothing more than Feelings"

From The Nation, an article about how black feminists scream at white feminists and then other white feminists pile on those vicious racist white feminists. And how "trans" feminists can get very, very upset at the Vagina Monologues-type feminists who actually have vaginas.
Feminism’s Toxic Twitter Wars
Empowered by social media, feminists are calling one another out for ideological offenses. Is it good for the movement? And whose movement is it?
Michelle Goldberg
... The dogma that’s being enforced in online feminist spaces is often called “intersectionality,” ... Online, however, intersectionality is overwhelmingly about chastisement and rooting out individual sin. Partly, says Cooper, this comes from academic feminism, steeped as it is in a postmodern culture of critique that emphasizes the power relations embedded in language. “We actually have come to believe that how we talk about things is the best indicator of our politics,” she notes. An elaborate series of norms and rules has evolved out of that belief, generally unknown to the uninitiated, who are nevertheless hammered if they unwittingly violate them. Often, these rules began as useful insights into the way rhetorical power works but, says Cross, “have metamorphosed into something much more rigid and inflexible.” One such rule is a prohibition on what’s called “tone policing.” An insight into the way marginalized people are punished for their anger has turned into an imperative “that you can never question the efficacy of anger, especially when voiced by a person from a marginalized background.”

World War F
Similarly, there’s a norm that intention doesn’t matter—indeed, if you offend someone and then try to explain that you were misunderstood, this is seen as compounding the original injury. Again, there’s a significant insight here: people often behave in bigoted ways without meaning to, and their benign intention doesn’t make the prejudice less painful for those subjected to it. However, “that became a rule where you say intentions never matter; there is no added value to understanding the intentions of the speaker,” Cross says.
There are also rules, elaborated by white feminists, on how other white feminists should talk to women of color. For example, after Kendall’s #solidarityisforwhitewomen hashtag erupted last fall, Sarah Milstein, co-author of a guide to Twitter, published a piece on the Huffington Post titled “5 Ways White Feminists Can Address Our Own Racism.” At one point, Milstein argued that if a person of color says something that makes you uncomfortable, “assume your discomfort is telling you something about you, not about the other person.”
After Rule No. 3, “Look for ways that you are racist, rather than ways to prove you’re not,” she confesses to her own racial crimes, including being “awkwardly too friendly” toward black people at parties.
Now, it’s true that white people need to make an effort not to be racist. And there are countless examples of white feminists failing women of color and then hiding behind their good intentions. Ani DiFranco provided a textbook example of what not to do when, following an uproar over her plan to hold a songwriting retreat on a former slave plantation, she then canceled it with a self-pitying statement: “I know that the pain of slavery is real and runs very deep and wide. However, in this incident I think [it] is very unfortunate what many have chosen to do with that pain.” (DiFranco later issued a more sincere apology.)
But the expectation that feminists should always be ready to berate themselves for even the most minor transgressions—like being too friendly at a party—creates an environment of perpetual psychodrama

To feminists, "perpetual psychodrama" is a feature, not a bug.
particularly when coupled with the refusal to ever question the expression of an oppressed person’s anger.
“I actually think there’s a subset of black women who really do get off on white women being prostrate,” Cooper says. “It’s about feeling disempowered and always feeling at the mercy of white authority, and wanting to feel like for once the things you’re saying are being given credibility and authority. And to have white folks do that is powerful, particularly in a world where white women often deploy power against black women in ways that are really problematic.”

World War B
Preening displays of white feminist abjection, however, are not the same as respect. “What’s disgusting and disturbing to me is that I see some of the more intellectually dishonest arguments put forth by women of color being legitimized and performed by white feminists, who seem to be in some sort of competition to exhibit how intersectional they are,” says Jezebel founder Holmes, who is black.
“There are these Olympian attempts on the part of white feminists to underscore and display their ally-ship in a way that feels gross and dishonest and, yes, patronizing.”
This reached an absurd peak during the tempest over #Femfuture. Jamia Wilson was one of the black women involved in the Barnard meeting, and she has since become part of the four-woman leadership team for the #Femfuture project, which continues to work on ways to make online feminism financially sustainable. She watched incredulously as white women joined in the pile-on about #Femfuture’s alleged racial insensitivity. One self-described white feminist tweeted at her to explain that no women of color had been at the Barnard meeting “and that I needed to be educated about that,” Wilson recalls. Somehow, activists who prided themselves on their racial enlightenment “were whitesplaining me about racism,” she adds, laughing.
In a revolution-eats-its-own irony, some online feminists have even deemed the word “vagina” problematic. In January, the actress and activist Martha Plimpton tweeted about a benefit for Texas abortion funds called “A Night of a Thousand Vaginas,” sponsored by A Is For, a reproductive rights organization she’s involved with. Plimpton was surprised when some offended Internet feminists urged people to stay away, arguing that emphasizing “vaginas” hurts trans men who don’t want their reproductive organs coded as female.

Reading this more closely, I realize I may have gotten this backward. The protesters may be individuals who have vaginas but are objecting to the cultural stereotypes that encode vaginas as being -- in some arbitrary socially constructed sense -- female.
“Given the constant genital policing, you can’t expect trans folks to feel included by an event title focused on a policed, binary genital,” tweeted @DrJaneChi, an abortion and transgender health provider. (She mentioned “internal genitals” as an alternative.) When Plimpton insisted that she would continue to say “vagina,” her feed filled up with indignation. “So you’re really committed to doubling down on using a term that you’ve been told many times is exclusionary & harmful?” asked one self-described intersectional feminist blogger.

World War T trumps all others for ferocity and wackiness.

By the way, why did Vagina Awareness become a feminist cause just because Eve Ensler wrote her 1996 play The Vagina Monologues? My impression in 1996 was that Larry Flynt had been doing yeoman's work raising America's Vagina Awareness for decades, and there really was no shortage of Vagina Awareness.

In fact, my recollection from reading Ms. Magazine in 1973 was that back then feminism was in part about raising awareness of a different, more often overlooked part of the female anatomy -- rhymes with Dolores. But that seems to have been forgotten.

  1. It used to be a handful of feminists owned all the magazines, news outlets, and academia and owned the narrative.

Now, via twitter, all kinds of 'feminists' can bitch and whine.

Time to bring out KKKrazy glue to put these ho's together again.

For every 100 of them, I doubt that they leave behind much more than 10 or 20 biological children [if that].

In another 20 or 30 years, they're all gonna be dead, with practically no one in their family trees remaining to replace them.

Circa 2030, as the boomers are dying off en masse, this stuff is gonna start to look a whole lot different than it does now.

FEEEEEELINGS and massive bitch fests masquerading as scholarship. Double Check!

    Check please.

A male oriented society would certainly have its feuds, they'd be more entertaining, as each faction and actor would try to show just how much of a tool the other was, and wrong in everything. Here's its a massive bitch fest.

And women wonder why men don't respect them? Exhibit A ...

Regarding Ensler and the Vagina Monologues, one critical part of the "performance" is a relationship between a fourteen year old girl and thirty something nasty ole lesbian. Paging Mr. Roman Polanski, Mr. Woody Allen, Mr. Errol Flynn, to the White Courtesy Phone!

Sadly, the next great movement will be to reduce the age of consent so nasty old lesbians can hit on Joe Average's 13 year old daughter and Hollywood pervs can get more action.

And like most of the outlier stuff it will win. Why?

My own modest insight is that while most White women are not as lunatic as the ones in the post, they are lunatic to some degree, tilted wildly to the left, and filled with rage, hate, and HATE HATE HATE towards White men who did the only great betrayal a woman can get from a man: become unsexy.

The KKKrazy Glue that holds the left together is most White women's hate hate hate towards White men for just not being sexy enough. If every White guy in America was made into say, the Poor Man's Hugh Grant (actor Michael Weatherly) then America would resemble Ike's USA almost instantly and Obama and Moochelle would be languishing in Leavenworth.

  20. Read the blog of Dr Jane Doe at genderidentitywatch.files.wordpress on the Plimpton vaginas debate. In their complaints to Martha Plimpton, trans men and their defenders proclaim that all they wish is for their complaints to be heard. Disingenuous would be a polite word for this claim. What they really want is capitulation to the trans orthodoxy (if that is not too ironic a phrase.). When Plimpton declares that she is glad they are having this controversial discussion, trans and co shoot back that it code for denigrating trans people. What such groups want is not "dialog" or intersectional it's at all. If anyone has a right to claim discrimination and denigration, it is biological women with vaginas.

Does it occur to any of these feminists that the very things they now find so objectionable about each other are the things that larger society finds objectionable in all feminists?

    Is self awareness possible?

    Other non white feminists
    Transexual feminists
    White feminists

Those higher on the list have the right to criticize those lower on the list, but the other way is not allowed. Also to clarify why the jewish feminist in number one on the list, a black feminist could attack a jewish feminist if it she was being attacked for her white background, but in absolutely no way could a black feminist claim that the black victim experience was worse than the jewish victim experience.

So, to take whiskey seriously, as a thought experiment, perhaps... White women are ruining the world because white men (beta ones) are not sexy. This is the conjecture of our single Maltese friend.
Too grand a theory for me to evaluate holus-bolus, as it were, but I would make an observation - an insight gained independently of Whiskey's influence: The average 50-something, married, fit, family man in my culture pretends these days to be entirely asexual. These proud creatures, having sired a few decades ago, are now ostensibly devoted purely to fishing, golf, food, drink and (if particularly SWPL) social justice or something.
It's a sham. Surely? But it's not superficial. It's deep-crypto sincere, i.e. ooga-booga sub-conscious. But to what end? Whiskey is on to something, but he don't know what it is... (Is that a song?)

    OK, so we have:

I'm pretty sure we have Whiskey hoping no one will mention the prominently-featured Jewish feminist commissar.

    My own modest insight

You've taught us that warm Jews will throw everyone under the bus to save the tribe. Your supposed insight is too stupid for anyone who can look up GSS data or the like to take seriously.

Women, without the good company of men become crazy and start obsessively collecting things: Hummel figurines, cats, Somalis. These particular women seem to collect and treasure insults.

Using a bit of HDB/red-pill transfusion, could it be that black feminists cannot stand white feminists because they act too much like mewling, clingly, straight beta males? Do white feminists need a bit of "game" in their game (I of course understand the benefits of the revolution continuing to eat its own, but that has to be balanced against the nausea-inducing effects of hearing about these sort of cat fights).

One self-described white feminist tweeted at her to explain that no women of color had been at the Barnard meeting “and that I needed to be educated about that”.

Reminds me of Kal Pen's about-face on stop-n-frisk, thanking the goons who had "educated" him into the reversal.

Kal Pen: equally pathetic to white feminists, yet less pathetic than a brony. Bronies still less pathetic than white male rap fans, though.

I think Steve has mentioned before, they should just give out victim cards with assigned values - this would save a lot of time - whoever had the higher # of victim points would automatically win every argument.

As I understand "intersectionality" it means you are allowed to stack your victim points - you have so many victim points for say being black and so many for being a woman and so many for being a lesbian and as a black woman lesbian you are entitled to aggregate the points from all three categories and have your discourse empowered or something, which means that what you say counts more than anyone else with fewer victim points.

  73. In fact, my recollection from reading Ms. Magazine in 1973 was that back then feminism was in part about raising awareness of a different, more often overlooked part of the female anatomy -- rhymes with Dolores.

That, and the raging debate about the difference between Deloral-asms versus Gee-Whiz-Spot-asms.

And whether Gee-Whiz-Spot-asms ever even existed in the first place, or whether they were a myth invented by the evil male patriarchy.

Then to compound matters, Albertosaurus's crowd came roaring onto the scene, and things were never the same again.

And my point is that the cult of piety is EXACTLY like Shaker-ism, in that they are making no babies and thereby unbreeding themselves right out of existence.

  77. Feminism in its cannibalist stage.

It's more ridiculous than male politics because, despite all the pussyboy antics of white liberal males, even they can be rough and badass sometimes. It's in the nature of men to give the middle finger, moon the other side, and say 'F--- you'.

In contrast, feminist or female politics is essentially contradictory because femininity is naturally submissive(relatively speaking)whereas feminism is for assertive POWER.

It's contradictory at the very core. Feminism says women must naturally be their true selves.
Well, in truth, most women are naturally feminine and un-macho(and want to serve a greater power).
Feminism seeks to unleash the natural woman as a power in her own right(the ho who runs with wolves) but the natural woman really wants to submit.

Since feminism says MEN ARE BAD, feminist-ized women are not allowed to submit to men. But their unleashed natural feminine instinct still needs to serve someone or something, and the vacuum created by the purging of men has been filled by angry lesbians, nasty Jewesses, black bitchass ho's, and muscled transvestites.

Maybe people who push feminism know this is how it really works but have been shhhh about it.
Maybe lesbians, Jews, and transvestites know that most women need to serve someone or something. It's in their nature to be part of a group, to be liked(as on Oprah show), be higgly giggly and huggy wuggy, and to serve a higher power.
Traditionally, men satisfied this need among women. Stand by your man.

But feminism said oppressive patriarchal men are preventing women from expressing and unleashing their natural selves!!!
So, feminism told women to rebel against men and be a 'natural woman'. But guess what? The natural mode of women is still a need to serve. Since men are gone, 'liberated' women must satisfy their need to serve by becoming the mental and even sexual harems of lesbians, nasty Jewesses, and black bitchass hos.

It's like people are naturally religious. It's like the Dylan song, "Gotta serve somebody". If not God, then an ideology or something.

Women evolved with the need to serve men. Men didn't force them to be this way. Women evolved this way. So, when women are 'liberated' from male 'oppression', they still need to serve a manly type. Since men have been nixed in the feminist community, feminists must serve man-like, aggressive, or pushy feminist bitches: Lesbians, nasty Jewesses, black bitchass hos, or muscled transvestites.
    Stand by your Lesbian.

Feminism isn't about independent individual women. It's about Big Sister lording over little sisters.

Though feminism is about the revenge of the loser girls against the popular girls, the politics of humiliation and domination is pretty much the same.

  82. THREE KINGS did something similar with bullion. Instead of pronouncing the "ion" part the way that it should be pronounced (like in million), they pronounced it as though it were spelt bullyawn. It grated on me throughout the film.

Presumably confusing the word for the gold stuff with the word of French origin for broth, bouillon, which is pronounced (by some at any rate) BOO-yawn in English.

The "ion" in "buillion" is indeed pronounced "yun" like in million, or the last three letters in most Armenian names.

My prediction is that they're gonna go down like dominoes- the collapse of 1 or 2 key groups is going to pull away the thinly veiled web over the insanity in the rest, and the whole shebang is going to come crashing down.

'the theory that witch-hunting equals misogyny is embarrassed by the predominance of women witness against the accused', Purkis, 'The Witch In History', p. 92 (1996); Purkis provides detailed examples, and also demonstrates how some documents have been misread in a manner which attributes accusations or legal prosecution to men, when in fact the action was brought by a woman.

  88. Two things women like to do:

    Shop.

Criticize other women(mostly out of envy or snobbery).

    -------

Feminists repress these instincts in the name of empowerment and unity, but the repressed feelings just shop for reasons to criticize other women for not being good little sisters.

They are window-shaming than window-shopping. Either way, they have to look and look and hiss and hiss.
