New York Times = Daily Mail when Whites Behave Badly

From the front pages of DailyMail.co.uk and NYTimes.com.

The Daily Mail specializes in police blotter stories, while the New York Times abstains from them ... unless it's a white guy victimizing a black. Then, a local story from a thousand miles away becomes Front Page News in the NYT.

Perhaps ten years ago I found myself in a situation like the one this poor guy had, but sans weapon. A big black guy on a BART train was playing his rap loud enough to escape the headphones, and I politely asked him to turn it down. When he refused, I asked him if he was in any doubt about why civilized people avoid blacks whenever possible. When he exited at the next stop, he yelled at me that if saw me again he would kill me.

  4. I was listening to CNN Headline News in the car the other day and they had a very long segment of the victim's mother talking about him. Went on and on. Obviously, it was to create sympathy because, obviously, CNN knows that people are likely to think the deceased was most likely a no-goodnick, just the way they thought Trayvon was a thug.

  5. just the way they thought Trayvon was a thug.

I remain open to the possibility, but also agnostic on the issue. What I do know is, Trayvon got what he deserved. Why is it so hard for so many people to admit that? That he got what he deserved. Yes, if you find yourself on top of a man, pummeling his head into the concrete in a fight you started, you deserve any holes you get in your chest as a result.

  6. The defendant (Dunn) is a fat, middle-aged software developer. During the police interview he said he "sh*t a brick" and was scared for his life when he thought they were saying menacing things back to him. Then why the hell is he rolling down his window telling an SUV full of young black males to turn down their loud music?!

They didn't physically agress on him before he opens fire on the SUV killing a 17-year old. If this isn't clear-cut murder I don't know what is. I'm shocked this ended in mistrial.

  7. Very sad story. I can't speculate about whether this guy acted in self-defense or not.

But what I find remarkable is how much the media seems to follow the narrative laid out by Tom Wolfe in "Bonfire of the Vanities."

Bad old southern white man and innocent young innocent black victim, just like Sherman McCoy and Henry Lamb.

It's uncanny that this story even has the bad guy's love interest at the scene not coming through for him later, and a black community activist getting involved, just like in "Bonfire."

  8. Let's assume it was cold blooded murder of a black by a white. So what? When does the NYT EVER cover local stories of whites murdered by blacks? Or white women raped by black men?

  10. Murder, schmurder.

If the blacks had shot and killed him instead, this story wouldn't have rated page one. In fact, it wouldn't have rated one inch on page 32C.

To the NYT, the only thing that matters is who murdered whom. Not the crime of murder. The newspaper's coverage of this incident is NOT about the murder.

It's about a white man who very effectively revolted against obscene noise pollution from blacks. That's the real crime in the NYT's eyes.

If you don't believe it (and it is a chilling claim), consider again what the newspaper's attitude would have been if the white had been murdered instead. The attitude would have been: "So f-----g what. People are murdered all the time."

The NYT has no more concern for the evil of the crime of murder than does the killer who pulled the trigger in this story. Its only interest is in the question of which murders are politically useful to publicize.

We know no such thing. That must be your fragile black ego talking. Whites don't generally stick up for their miscreants the way that blacks so often seem to do for theirs. And the Times isn't wringing it's hands looking for excuses for this guy's behavior, as they did for Omar Thornton, to name but one.

    ReplyDelete
  12. if i were from some other country and read the msm, i would be well informed enough to know that these white people are out to get blacks. i would know to stay clear of violent, prejudiced white neighborhoods where they would pull the trigger in a heartbeat. I would know to go to peaceful black neighborhoods, where there is no prejudice and people don't act on impulses.

  13. This was murder, plain and simple. The fact that the NYT's coverage choice is plainly motivated by ideological motivations (i.e. nobody blinks when whites are killed by blacks) shouldn't obscure that fact.

  16. The one thing this had in common with the Zimmerman trial was the prosecutors pursuing Murder 1 in recognition of the victim. Murder 1 is usually murder committed while committing another crime, or premeditated murder, which does not fit the facts as presented.

Dunn seems to be unable to navigate a world where he can obtain a fire arm, so I think jail is a good place for him.

  17. This seems to be the straw that broke the camel's back for Ta Neshi Coates. His latest rambling is an impassioned concession that racism is natural and "a default setting" of Man.

"I insist that racism must be properly understood as an Intelligence, as a sentience, as a default setting which, likely to the end of our days, [blacks] shall unerringly return."

He thinks racism is an intelligence; I guess that explains why Anti-racist Ta Neshi is so lacking in it.

And did I read his last line correctly? Is he threatening whites with retribution by racism?

What Mr. Coates is doing is 3rd rate rhetoric. Stories like Trayvon and Dunn get bandied about as if these stories were indicative of reality. They very well could be indicative of reality, but one could never infer reality from these "stories." Reality is to be found in the meticulously bland number crunching of our nation's crime statisticians. It's unfortunate, then, that people would rather read the affirmative-action-rate writings of a black nationalist than the intimidating PDF files posted online by our government, detailing precisely the over representation of blacks as offenders.

Ta neshi doesn't care about statistics. He'd rather be "thought crazy" than infer his reality from statistics.

"Spare us the invocations of "black on black crime." I will not respect the lie."

Mr Coates is implying that government statisticians are lying. What a crank.

I would suggest Ta Neshi read Ron Unz's take on black crime. It's pretty damming.

  18. The trajectory of the bullets don't match up to the story so far.

The bullets that hit Davis came in at nearly a 90% angle from a shooter with less than a 45% angle.

It is still early but based on the testimony of the teens in the SUV and the angle of the bullet holes, it is clear that the door of Davis was indeed open and not closed due to a "child lock" as the teens stated.

That is consistent with what the defense said, that Davis repeatedly threatened to kill Dunn and was trying to exit the SUV to carry out his death threat when he was shot.

He got what he risked getting. Zimmerman was correctly acquitted.

  21. Rather interesting to see the hysterical reaction of Ta-Nehisi Coates over at the crumbling ruin that used to be THE ATLANTIC:

I wish I had something more to say about the fact that Michael Dunn was not convicted for killing a black boy. Except I said it after George Zimmerman was not convicted of killing a black boy. Except the parents of black boys already know this. Except the parents of black boys have long said this, and they have been answered with mockery.

Jordan Davis had a mother and a father. It did not save him. Trayvon Martin had a mother and a father. They could not save him. My son has a father and mother. We cannot protect him from our country, which is our aegis and our assailant. We cannot protect our children because racism in America is not merely a belief system but a heritage, and the inability of black parents to protect their children is an ancient tradition.

Henry "Box" Brown, whose family was destroyed and whose children were trafficked, knew:

I stationed myself by the side of the road, along which the slaves, amounting to three hundred and fifty, were to pass. The purchaser of my wife was a Methodist minister, who was about starting for North Carolina. Pretty soon five wagon-loads of little children passed, and looking at the foremost one, what should I see but a little child, pointing its tiny hand towards me, exclaiming, "There's my father; I knew he would come and bid me good-bye...”

Spare us the invocations of "black on black crime." I will not respect the lie. I would rather be thought insane. The most mendacious phrase in the American language is "black on black crime," which is uttered as though the same hands that drew red lines around the ghettoes of Chicago are not the same hands that drew red lines around the life of Jordan Davis, as though black people authored North Lawndale and policy does not exist. That which mandates the murder of our Hadiya Pendletons necessarily mandates the murder of Jordan Davis. I will not respect any difference. I will not respect the lie. I would rather be thought crazy.

I insist that the irrelevance of black life has been drilled into this country since its infancy, and shall not be extricated through the latest innovations in Negro Finishing School. I insist that racism is our heritage, that Thomas Jefferson's genius is no more important than his plundering of the body of Sally Hemmings, that George Washington's abdication is no more significant than his wild pursuit of Oney Judge, that the G.I Bill's accolades are somehow inseparable from its racist heritage. I will not respect the lie. I insist that racism must be properly understood as an Intelligence, as a sentience, as a default setting to which, likely until the end of our days, we unerringly return.

  23. If the NYT were to catalogue all the black-on-white murders, rapes, robberies, assaults that happen around the country they'd have little space left to squeeze in their stories about gay marriage and open borders. It'd just be one big thick crime blotter. Not having been on the jury to listen to the testimony I wouldn't make snap judgements about what the verdict should have been. Telling blacks to turn down their loud music or to stop trashing the place is apparently a very dangerous thing to do in today's America. Telling some Swedes something like that would not likely result in a shooting or stabbing, not that they would be doing something like that to begin with. This'll serve as more fuel for the knockout "game" in the coming warmer weather, not that they need any more encouragement as it is since they're just doing what they want to do anyway.

  33. Years ago, someone (Was it Steve?) wrote that the crime reporter for the New York Times must be low on the totem pole.

You often see people whining about crime stories only being covered by the MSM because the victim was a "pretty dead white girl." Well, I know of quite a few murders that weren't given much if any national coverage with a pretty white girl as the victim.

Namely, Channon Christian, Lauren Burk, Eve Marie Carson, Anne Pressly and numerous others. Why? The killers didn't look like Scott Peterson or Joran Van Der Sloot.

The murders of Eve Carson and Anne Pressly received some national coverage when they occured, but the stories were dropped by the MSM when the perpetrators turned out to be the Usual Suspects.

"The one thing this had in common with the Zimmerman trial was the prosecutors pursuing Murder 1 in recognition of the victim. Murder 1 is usually murder committed while committing another crime, or premeditated murder, which does not fit the facts as presented. " - He was charged with murder two, not premeditated, but intent is still there. The bigger problem was that his assailant was on top of him and pummeling him before being shot, as opposed to just walking down the street peacefully minding his own business.

I think that what Coates' is implying is that Black on black crime is itself a product of White racism, that the same racism that created the "ghetto" also produces higher crime rates among Blacks.

Odd, isn't it, how racial grievance types like TNC seem to view Blacks as being entirely bereft of agency.....

Dunn just claimed he was threatened with no corroborating evidence. The best witness supported Zimmerman's story. All the eyewitnesses (admittedly not unbiased) said Dunn was lying.

  40. The DM has a current story of a black male homeowner in Arkansas, 48, shooting to death a black teen girl, 15, who was part of a group that egged his car. They posed no threat and were driving away. He's been charged but there's no doubt there'll never be followup stories since he's black and thus the story has no utility.
The above overly long and tedious screed by the black commentator is exhibit A of the black thinking process at work, or at least of those pretending to speak on their behalf. It's hopeless and inhabits it's own fantasy land.

spot on! the defendant (criminal, now) shot 3 rounds while the car with the supposed aggressor was moving away --> no self-defense. he then went home, had pizza for dinner and walked his dog and then, presumably, had an undisturbed sleep. he never called the cops. hell, he never even tried to see what happened to his victim. he left in a hurry, cuz his dog was waiting to be walked. he's a 47 yr. old man and just shot a 17 yr. kid for some insults and all of this is in some measure (large) because the kid was black.

  42. This is a not terribly interesting local crime story akin to the movie theater shooting that also took place recently in Florida. Basically, one guy/group acted rude and uncivilized and the other person overreacted with deadly force and was understandably prosecuted. It all looks like manslaughter to me, which is reserved for these heat-of-passion/disproportionate overreaction type cases.

This case also, unlike Zimmerman, did not have a compelling self defense argument. Fear, perhaps, but he should have kept his stuff holstered and, frankly, was stupid to confront a whole group of black youths unless he had a deathwish for himself and his old lady.

  45. The jury's verdict on several counts will send Michael Dunn to prison for the rest of his life. The New York Times misleading lede mentions only the mistrial on one count, as though Dunn's white privilege won him a free pass to shoot a black teen.

  46. In fairness, one reason this got a lot of attention is that it's a classic "man bites dog" story.

Blacks killing whites is so common that it's not news. But when a white kills a black, especially if it looks like the killing was unjustified, then it's big news.

Of course, there's also the ideological angle. I'm not denying that.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Of course, there's also the ideological angle. I'm not denying that.

But it's important to focus on that ideological angle. Common garden pattern detection discerns that this behavior is characteristic of the MSM, and that the NYT is a particularly egregious offender. Having detected this pattern, why in the world would one just meekly accept it as "the way the world is"? Meek acceptance is not how monarchies were overthrown or the Catholic church defanged.
