Nobody is interested in disinterestedness anymore

Via Zero Hedge
Burisma Holdings, Ukraine’s largest private gas producer, has expanded its Board of Directors by bringing on Mr. R Hunter Biden as a new director.

Yes, Hunter Biden is the son of the Vice President, who was in Kiev last month.

I guess the logic of this is that America is now engaged in a great struggle with a country run on the basis that Vlad knows a guy who knows a guy (which is how Russia spent $50 billion on the Winter Olympics). So, much as they may regret it, our rulers have no choice but to throw out traditional Anglo-American scruples and go to the mat with the Kremlin, matching them rakeoff for rakeoff, nepotistic deal for nepotistic deal.

And may the biggest yacht in Monte Carlo win.

One more factoid the hoi polloi simply isn't supposed to notice.

  2. As long as I'm not paying his salary I don't care what he does.

  3. Interesting to know that Biden has another kid. His son Beau was thinking of running this year for his old DE Senate seat.

These days the globalist elites don't even bother to hide their corruption.

  7. Rarely discussed in the media, but VP Biden had another daughter who died in an auto accident along with his first wife.

  8. Ah, the Bidens, what a great example of the principle that it's usually not sufficient to tar and feather hack politicians, it's necessary to do their entire families as well.

We will pass in respectful silence over his first wife Neilia and daughter Naomi, who were killed in a car crash in 1972. Young Master Hunter and his older brother Beau survived that crash. Beau went on to a shimmering career in politics -- he's currently Delaware's attorney general and has announced he will run for governor in 2016, despite having had two strokes by his early 40s and not having a lot of brain cells to spare to begin with. Beau managed to pass the Delaware bar exam on his fourth try, after the old rule (three tries per candidate, then you're out for life) was changed for his benefit.

Hunter, who has a law degree from Yale, hasn't bothered with the Delaware bar exam (he's admitted to practice in Connecticut), and has spent his young adulthood knocking around patronage jobs mostly in Washington. He was on the board of Amtrak (whose trains Joe famously rode to work) and had an executive gig with MBNA (back when they were among the largest private-sector employers in Delaware). Basically a lobbyist with a law degree, or as we say in English, a bag man.

Their half-sister, Ashley, provided some decent celebrity gossip locally with the usual run of entitlement-caste drug problems. Around age 30, she settled down enough to marry a Jewish doctor from Philadelphia.

The second Mrs. Biden is a college English professor and has the attitude to prove it. Everything flyover country people don't like about suburban liberals from New Jersey, that's Jill Biden. In an age of stricter morals, it would have been pointed out that she started "dating" Senator Joe Biden while she was still married to her first husband. But it was the 70s, when it was also cool for hip young progs like Joe and Jill to get married at the UN chapel in New York, which pretty much tells you what you need to know about their religion.

    This.

If you had told me - when I was a kid - that my country would some day come to resemble Louis Quatorze Sun King levels of depravity, then I would have told you that you were nuts.

But you would have been right.

And I would have been wrong.

    Sigh.

    This will not end well.

  10. I think the phrase "appearance of impropriety" was invented for situations like this. But I can't be sure.

  11. I thought that conflicts of interest were bad because even the appearance of corruption underminded faith in the system and its officials. Of course, what the "appearance of corruption" mostly indicated was........corruption.

The elite now no longer even pretend to have shame. Biden, his sons, and all their ilk are nakedly corrupt. They are thieves, fixers, and whores.

Our overlords don't consider such cronyism corruption. They consider it enlightened self interest.

In short, they take care of their own.

  15. Hunter Biden was also a lobbyist for credit-card interests at the same time his Dad was pushing a bankruptcy Bill (now law) through the Senate.

  16. The very meaning of the word 'disinterested' has drifted away from 'impartial' to now just being a synonym for 'uninterested'. I find this depressingly indicative of the culture's accelerating slide into decadence . . . .

This is actually an interesting article on White privilege and/or Jewish privilege. I wish people who bother to post links in order to share them would go the extra mile and add a one or two line summary. Thanks for the link in any case.

  22. And the hits keep rolling.

Ukraine issues $1B in bonds "co-signed" by US taxpayer.

According to the link, the fine print states they are only guaranteed as long as the Russian republics in the east remain part of Ukraine. Sounds like a billion reasons to pursue a civil war instead of saying screw-it, let's split in two.

You paid for the coup that got him the job.
