See, I was right

I recently noted that I'm convinced -- deep down, on an infra-rational level -- that anybody with more energy than me is obviously bipolar and is this close to snapping.

From the NYT:
A co-founder of Invisible Children, the nonprofit organization whose video “Kony 2012” has become an Internet sensation, was detained by the San Diego police on Thursday, after they said he was found in the street in his underwear, screaming and interfering with traffic.

Kathy Shaidle has more.

  5. Except if this is right he wasn't wearing underwear. You've got to feel for him, a talented film maker if nothing else.

  7. don't factor OUT the effects of cannabis - now widely smoked regularly among lefties -
    or anti-depressant drugs
Peter Hitchens writes, extensively about the psychotic effects of both - which is ignored by the media/elite.
it's a little chicken and the eggy with so called bipolar people, but certainly fish oil and excercise would be far more effective than these drugs which often have this effect...

And despite libertarian/hippie propaganda - cannabis can permanently damage your brain and make you do crazy things like.. well, this guy did.

  8. The description I saw was a little less flattering "arrested in San Diego Thursday for public masturbation, vandalizing cars and some form of intoxication". There is a video on TMZ showing [supposedly] him completely naked and furiously smashing something on a pavement. Poor guy.

  9. The Inner Party that dreamed up this propaganda campaign, to alert the American people for the incoming accounts of Special Forces mowing down drug-dazed zombie children in the forests primeval, may well have resorted to some of the same techniques Kony uses on his followers.

--Well, or they just happened to find a tool who's nuts.

Incidentally, I first encountered the "Kony 2012" (!!) viral campaign on the tumblr pages of people who may well be deep into drugs themselves. Mental malleability, a creamy core of sentimentalism, may well be a psychic constant in the character of people prone to recreational drugs or a hard cocktail of 'approved' mood-lifters.

They've never heard of such evil, so of course now we must all reach out together and go stamp it out. Mow 'em down!

Of course you were right. Does the sun rise in the east? I first heard about this stupid docu on an alternative news site that fingered it as a tool of the "illuminati." I don't know who they be, exactly, but I know they be bad. All the most powerful people are in that club or they don't get to be powerful.
With the exception of high school kids who are going through the usual several years of mental derangment associated with their age group, nobody took the Kony effort seriously.

  11. Mr. Kony wields powerful ju-ju. Do not mess with him.

  12. Hey, it's true! Everyone's on all sorts of drugs now. At least, 5 Hour Energy. Wait til they hit 60, if they do.

Lots of colleges have sex assault cases happening too...I think it's the steroids they take, to compete you know.

    But I repeat myself.

  14. There's gossip going around the sites that offer blind celebrity gossip that the co-founder of Invisible Children uses donations to pay for his various mistresses.

That's a cause most people, except maybe the Twitter-loving middle-class millenials, don't care much about.

Yes, but is he a Jedi?

For the record, these guys are the voice of reason, Some other PTAs... {are[ quietly reaching out to the splattering of bankers and small business owners for large donations, while largely bypassing those who have less. This, of course, has managed to offend people on both sides.

  18. Steve, you're selling yourself short. You have plenty of energy, it's just that in your case it's going to your brain.

  19. Cannabis as a cause for this guy's behavior? I don't think so.

  21. I was wondering what this Kony 2012 stuff was that kept coming up in sidebars and all on news sites the past week. I sort of felt it couldn't be of any merit, but I had no idea how bad this was until iSteve prompted me to watch the first couple of minutes of this.

Yeah, it is barfy. But I made another observation. About 20 years ago, white middle class teens/young men started imitating black guys. Now it seems like they are imitating homosexual guys too, judging from the principal of the Kony 2012 video.

Had I not known about the love of his life and kids, whatnot, that you have to gotta suffer through in the Kony vid, I would have swore he was a total flamer.

read up on cannibis - it can cause permanent brain damage and behavior like this. Lefties/libertariantards like to rib 'reefer madness' but it's not far from the truth.

Yes, the Men Who Look Like Old Lesbians movement has gone mainstream.

  24. Steve, didn't you note recently on this blog that the website of the Daily Mail is now getting more hits than that of the NYT? There's a reason for that -- they do better reporting. Their story on Jason Russell berserking out, which includes photographs, is here:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2116184/Kony-2012-video-director-Jason-Russell-arrested-drunk-performing-sex-act-public.html

During the Clinton years, news coverage regarding American liberals was much more complete in the British press than in American media. It's still happening. Another recent example is the case of the editorial page editor of the Portland Oregonian who expired Nelson Rockefeller-style in the apartment of a young woman he was compensating financially. American reports about that event were nowhere near as detailed as the account given here. Most notably, American readers would never have known that the esteemed journalist had recently picked up a DUI conviction after crashing his car into another vehicle outside a strip club.

  25. You probably are right Steve.

What confuses me is that I thought stuff like this is considered normal in California. I was surprised the police got involved. You figure it's just another wackaloon in LaLa Land. Nothing to see here.

  26. Absolutely right on: this has cannabis written all over it. I live near a university, and I can't go a day without seeing some stoned hippy jerking off on the street corner.

  27. My daughter made me watch the "Kony" video. It thought it was an appalling exhibition DWL-ism.

The scene where he sat his four year old son down to explain to him what a hero he was for convincing the government to send other people's sons into harm's way to save black people was one of the mostly nauseatingly narcissistic things I have ever seen.

  28. I don't know about the cannabis. Maybe someone stuck a pin in his doll.

  30. Reminds me of an old joke.

How do you know it's winter in LA? The drugged-out film maker wanking on the street corner is wearing a sweater.

  31. Most bipolar people don't act like this. Take Beethoven for instance. Anyway, how fitting that he was jerking off. Liberalism is a kind of a moral jerking off contest. I guess pissing contest is too reactionary.

  34. Ok sweethearts, here is Peter Hitchens on the effects of cannabis:
But it is clear from what she writes that she now grasps that cannabis-smoking is definitely correlated with mental illness. What she used to think of as harmless is (I paraphrase) likely to land you in the locked ward.

    http://hitchensblog.mailonsunday.co.uk/2012/01/a-former-dope-smoker-writes-something-fairly-sensible.html

There are two areas where the Nuttites are in trouble. One is their apparent belief that concern about the mental health dangers of cannabis is "baseless alarmism". The work of Professor Robin Murray at the Maudsley hospital suggests otherwise.

    Correlation is not causation.
