In 2008, the US government granted Todashev asylum, a protection granted to foreigners with a credible fear for their safety in their homelands because of religious, political, or other specific forms of persecution.
But Reuters reports that Todashev's father is a government official in Grozny whose father is in tight with the All-Time Champ Chechen Ramzan Kadryov.
Todashev then obtained a green card in February 2013, making him a legal permanent resident and clearing the way for him to apply for US citizenship in a few years if he remained in good standing, said law enforcement officials with direct knowledge of the information.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Todashev’s girlfriend, Tatiana Gruzdeva, May 16 on immigration violations, said a law enforcement official. An ICE spokesman confirmed that she is in custody.
Facebook lists one Tatiana Gruzdeva in Orlando, complete with lots of pictures. My apologies if this is the wrong Tatiana Gruzdeva. I don't want to post a picture of Ms. Gruzdeva's face if she's the wrong Tatiana Gruzdeva, so I'll just share with you a self-portrait she posted on Facebook. I don't spend a lot of time on Facebook, but my impression is that this picture probably isn't all that unique and thus won't give away her identity.
Here's the late Ibragim Todashev and his 24-year-old widow from the Wall Street Journal:
Ms. Manukyan, an Armenian who converted to Islam before marrying Mr. Todashev, says she met her late husband in 2010 through a mutual friend in Boston. She says she separated from Mr. Todashev in November but was still in regular contact with him and was partly supporting him through their joint bank account.
We hear a lot these days about immigrants' "American Dream," but the Chechen Dream appears to be to have some babe support you. Do you think these guys were big hip-hop fans back in the old country?
If you were a nice-looking young Armenian girl in the United States, would you convert to Islam to marry some lay-about Chechen cage fighter? I guess we know in the case of Mrs. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, whose doctor father is a Yale and Phillips Exeter man (same as his father), who converted to Islam to marry Bomb Brother #1.
From the Boston Herald:
If you were a nice-looking young Armenian girl in the United States, would you convert to Islam to marry some lay-about Chechen cage fighter? I guess we know in the case of Mrs. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, whose doctor father is a Yale and Phillips Exeter man (same as his father), who converted to Islam to marry Bomb Brother #1.
From the Boston Herald:
At the time of yesterday’s shooting, Todashev was free on a $3,500 bond, according to Florida court records, after being arrested May 4 by sheriff’s deputies at gunpoint at the Premium Outlet Mall in Orlando on a charge of felony aggravated battery after a mall security guard reported a fight in a parking lot that left a man battered and bleeding.
In 2010, a Boston police report stated Todashev was involved in a violent road rage incident in Downtown Crossing
The BPD report states officers “witnessed several people struggling to restrain a white male, later determined to be the subject, Ibragim Todashev. Officers heard Todashev yell, ‘You say something about my mother, I will kill you!’ Officers struggled to physically restrain and handcuff Todashev. ...” His case was continued without a finding.
The Los Angeles Times interviews the bereaved father:
According to the father, Ibragim Todashev was studying English at Grozny University when he got a chance to go to the United States in an exchange program in 2008.
"He loved it there from Day One," the father said. "He would call me and tell me how everybody was into sports, what great sports gyms they had and what wonderful possibilities he had for the mixed fighting and boxing he loved so much.
"Then when he told me that he loved it in America and wanted to stay," the father said, "I didn't mind."
I mind. Why is it okay for various violent Chechens to just up and move to my country because they think it's a better place to practice hurting people?
He said his son hit it off with Tsarnaev because of their common Chechen heritage. Although Tsarnaev never lived in the restive Russian republic, his family's roots were there and there are indications that Tsarnaev felt a kinship with the Muslim separatists who want the region to break free from Russia.
"We are a small people who endured so many hardships to survive in our difficult history that it is only natural for us to stick together, especially abroad," said Todashev, 53, who is head of the municipal services department in Grozny.
So that job puts the elder Todashev, who is polygamously married to two women and has twelve children, what, about two steps down the org chart from Ramzan the Great and thus three steps down from Vladimir Putin? How exactly does that qualify you for refugee status?

Americans have this image of the refugee program existing for the likes of Einstein, Toscanini, and Solzhenitsyn. But, in reality, these days it tends to be a vehicle for immigration fraud by well-connected individuals who can plausibly purport that their relatives back home have made a lot of their neighbors extremely mad at them.
Like, for example, the late Brendan Mess's girlfriend Hibatalla Eltilib of the Sudan, who seems to have encouraged Tamerlan Tsarnaev's Muslim extremism.
i love the way you're still talking about something weeks after the media has already gotten bored with it.
ReplyDeleteChechens are so American. Corrupt and cunning.

ReplyDeleteI disagree. This should be a full-time Chechen blog. A most fascinating people.

ReplyDeleteDepardieu has a point. Chechens are way too Americanized in some bad ways.
Americans have this image of the refugee program existing for the likes of Einstein, Toscanini, and Solzhenitsyn.
ReplyDeleteNo, no, I think at this point most Americans know they're mostly Somalis or the like who end up in Minneapolis or Lewiston, ME. Thank goodness.

ReplyDeleteBBC - Stockholm riots throw spotlight on Swedish inequality
It's hard to discern a pattern in the violence that has wracked the Swedish capital Stockholm for five nights.
Yes, some things in life are hard.
Also, I'm not too sure there's anything really "Swedish" about the mentioned "inequality"; I'm puzzling over that too, not seeing any helpful "pattern".
[Refugee immigration] tends to be a vehicle for immigration fraud by well-connected individuals who can plausibly purport that their relatives back home have made a lot of their neighbors extremely mad at them.
ReplyDeleteYup. Too much international law is based on world war two. It appeared that refugees were innocent people who were persecuted by madmen through no fault of their own. However accurate that view is, it should be quite obvious that sometimes the reason a minority lives in high tension with it's neighbors is because that minority behaves badly.
US policy and public opinion are both heavily influenced by the cold war when we had to pretend that half the warlords were the very incarnation of the Red Menace. The other half of the warlords were George Washington in blackface fighting for America.
Sudanese Arabs look like aggressors on tv. Maybe Sudanese blacks are angels, but how likely is that given the behavior of blacks in other places?
The Somali refugees weren't innocents. They were just the losing clans. They'd be happy as clams what with having easy food and easy victims, except Minnesota is cold.
Chechens are such a severe case of 'wherever you go, there you are' that it would be hilarious if they weren't here.
If the English finally respond to provocation and expel the Others to wherever will have them, we'll see video of crying Other children and Other women looking despondent and ululating. The English will look like big jerks for expelling sad-looking black and brown Others from the Garden of Eden welfare state. What will the Others do? What with no skills, education or talents? Not a chance that the media will mention that the British tried to help them and the Others hacked people to death in the streets.
Chechens are still, to some extent, how Americans used to be, or used to see themselves or be seen by others. Kicking ass and taking names. Boxing, fighting, driving muscle cars and monster trucks. Toting guns, shooting people who give them too much lip or insult their mothers. Chechens should remind us how feminized American society has become. The chicks apparently see it. Anyone? Anyone? Roissy? Roissy?
ReplyDeleteThat BBC article is a piece of work. It's the epitome of desperate multiculti propaganda.
ReplyDeleteTodashev sounds like a hothead. Ready to punch someone at the slightest provocation. I knew a person like that in grammar school, he didn't last much beyond his twenties when someone shot him in a parking lot.
ReplyDeleteIMO he got in trouble back home because of his temper and some of the locals were looking to even the score.
People always looking for a fight could get into serious trouble as many states now have conceal and carry. It's always best to act respectful in public and try to make friends instead of enemies.
Why does it seem that if you scratch at any "legal" immigration case, it doesn't really stand up? Perhaps the whole system is rotten and pervaded with fraud. Immigration fraud has been going on for as long as there have been immigration restrictions - read about Chinese Americans and "paper sons" after the passage of the Chinese Exclusion Act. Except in those days the authorities were serious about trying to root out fraud. Now they just play along - "well founded fear of persecution" - sure, whatever you say, c'mon in.
ReplyDeleteSteve,
ReplyDeleteHow about giving it a rest with the Chechen stuff? You are being most boring
Chechens have extremely tight game. They could make a fortune selling books on how to get white Christians to convert to Islam and work to support you.
ReplyDelete"In 2010, a Boston police report stated Todashev was involved in a violent road rage incident in Downtown Crossing."
ReplyDeleteWell of course he needed asylum! Like most refugees, he was really good at pissing off the people back home and making them hate him.
"Americans have this image of the refugee program existing for the likes of Einstein, Toscanini, and Solzhenitsyn."
People praise our immigration system from yesteryear, and the success of those immigrants in this country, while our immigration system today (and the things that draw the here) are almost entirely different from what they were 100 years ago. Different types of immigrants, from different countries, with no welfare state to draw them. A huge fraction of Italian immigrants wound up returning home. How many Mexicans return home if they fail here? Not many.
Yes, European immigration was very successful. So let's go back to more European immigration.
We took in hundreds of thousands of Soviet Jews as refugees. Most went on welfare, SSI, Section 8 immediately. Many later traveled back and forth to visit back home. That was a massive fraud but the US government probably knew that but went ahead with it.
ReplyDeleteThe Scarface clip is beautifully appropriate.
ReplyDelete"i love the way you're still talking about something weeks after the media has already gotten bored with it."
ReplyDeleteThe things it leads to are things the MSM don't want to explore.
1. People from particular types of region or cultural background are both genetically and culturally more violent.
2. Possible USG involvement in Chechen terrorism in Russia.
Yesterday's article was like, yeah it seems to have started in the immigrant ar- But it's everyone! Everyone, all kinds, did I say that yet? It's been going on for days and we have arrestees we could question but we have no idea why this is happening, um something vauge about inequality but did I mention we have no idea why? Hey, things happen, right?" Exactly. It's almost as if he didn't receive his marching orders. I think he actually did receive them and is acting in open defiance. He's incorrigible.
What's up with these Armenian Muslim converts? Tamerlan's mentor "Misha" was another one though he denies any links to extremism. Check out the New York Review of Books article on him:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nybooks.com/blogs/nyrblog/2013/apr/28/tamerlan-tsarnaev-misha-speaks/
There are a lot of Armenian commenters on that article noting that by being Muslim he can't be a 'real' Armenian. Given Armenia's history, it does seem odd that Armenians would want to convert to Islam.
Some chicks dig Chechens. Blame it on the chicks eh?
ReplyDelete"No, no, I think at this point most Americans know they're mostly Somalis or the like who end up in Minneapolis or Lewiston, ME. Thank goodness."
I agree. The country is run by a morally corrupt elite. It used to be run by a morally responsible elite.
Nothing will happen until there is either a replacement of the morally corrupt elite with a morally responsible elite, or there is a grassroots eruption.
Since neither will happen in the near future, we are f****d.

I totally agree with these smart readers; there were much more pressant issues this week, like the resurgence of the KKK or, G-d forbid, the Nazis.
People praise our immigration system from yesteryear, and the success of those immigrants in this country, while our immigration system today (and the things that draw the here) are almost entirely different from what they were 100 years ago.
ReplyDeleteSuccess for whom? Not for the native inhabitants. For Southerners, immigrants filled the ranks of the imperial army that murdered their people and violently suppressed their drive for independence.
For all American natives, immigrant groups dragged them into two world wars and forced open their borders to further mass immigration.
I don't think you can call that a success.
"Some chicks dig Chechens. Blame it on the chicks eh?"
ReplyDeleteYes, I do. I won't lift a finger when I see the chicks getting dragged off by a mob of "youths." Couldn't give a shit.
"The chicks" have made their bed.
Why does it seem that if you scratch at any "legal" immigration case, it doesn't really stand up? Perhaps the whole system is rotten and pervaded with fraud.
ReplyDeleteOne does begin to wonder. Even if only 1% of refugees were legitimate, that would still be hundreds, so it wouldn't be that hard to find a few and parade them around as examples of positive immigration. The absence of such parades makes me think it's harder to find one than I'd think.
I suppose it's a lot easier for the nephew of the warlord to make the connections necessary to apply for refugee status than it is for some nobody living in the village, hiding because he pissed off the warlord's nephew. So we seem to get people who got themselves in trouble by being on the losing end of a power struggle, so they needed a hiding place for a while, and the US will pay them to come here, so why not?
Yeah, I've been kind of bored, too, but then I notice an interest in the Chechen president in J-land, and realize...
ReplyDeleteChicks and Chechens... so right! They're still not as awesome as Putin. Did you see that recent picture of him having tea with that cute little girl? So sweet! Who says gentleness and strength can't go together? Besides Hollywood?
Never mind, can't assign Steve that much credit, yet... It appears the spate in interest comes from Foreign Policy's blog highlighting Kadyrov's instagrams starting on the 15th.

Yes, by all means, let's talk instead about Benghazi - a disposable scandal-of-the-month that will have no impact on the Obama administration at all, and will suck up all the attention of the press and the people, while Congress and the administration floods our nation with millions upon millions of third-worlders.
Kadyrov fulfills the same role as old style 'client king' - of the the type that the Romans and the British were so fond of maintaining.
ReplyDeleteThe deal is 'you make life easy for us, and we'll make life easy for you' ie Kadyrov has done sterling work in keeping a lid on the wilder loons amongst his people and in return he gets the big house with tigers.
Herod Antipas, in classical times was as imilar, colorful client king with an ostentatious taste in big houses and all the trimmings, as was Mithradaties in Armenia. Note all these characters are located in the the SteveOphobic 'hairy-man' axis typified by the Anatolian/Levantine triangle, a region charcaterized bt 'big men', sharp practice and ostentatiousness - going back millenia apparently.
Nixon phenotypically resembled the archetype of what may be termed 'an east Mediterranean early-farmer' (apparently the bringers of agriculture and genes to the waste land of post ice age Europe), but whether this is purely coincidental is moot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to the cable, great stuff and well written. It reads more like Tom Wolfe than Tom Clancy. Perhaps English majors who aspire to be more than a Starbucks barista join the Foreign Service.

ReplyDeleteIt does call into question the whole Emma Lazarus schtick.
Immigrants to America have always tended to be adventurers, troublemakers, gamblers, whores, ten-time losers, and so on. "Refuse," in short - but not exactly the humble and huddled type.
The most sensible policy prescription now is to end immigration for about 20 years.
Feel free to pepper your posts with pictures like the first, Steve. But is it just me, or does it look oddly photoshopped? Her legs almost look fake. I guess maybe it's the tanning oil.

Chechen men are a different breed of white men.
Yes, we must reject their criminality, banditry, corruption, wife-kidnaping, trashy behavior with gold-plated guns, and such stuff, but having balls and never saying sorry(at least to the enemy)are good things.

ReplyDeleteThe biggest refugee scam of the past 40 years has been the Soviet Jewry refugee scam. There was and has been no general persecution of Jews in the Soviet Union. American Jewish leaders concocted this "crisis" of Soviet Jewry so as to enable Jews to emigrate to the US (and, secondarily, Israel). Jewish leaders pushed for, and American politicians acquiesced in, this refugee policy which admitted over half million Jews for reasons of ethnic affinity, nothing more. There had been real religion persecution in the Soviet Union from the 1970's - 1990s (proselytizing Protestant sects and sabbatizers) but such groups were not treated so graciously.

lol Svigor, you make some good points, imbecility is certainly not confined to South.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, I haven't seen this "containment of Africans" idea ever really work out well in practice, whether in South Africa, the US South, in South America. I don't see how it's reasonable to suppose an independent south would have worked out with a blacker America than we have now.
The most effective method of spreading the black plague across America was definitely the one that was implemented.
But if you're saying plenty of greedy Yankee plutocrats and Puritan fanatics would've done their damnedest to find a way to profit by/suffer from importing blacks, you have a point there.
lol Svigor, you make some good points, imbecility is certainly not confined to South.

rob, well put.
The knucklehead who said that history is written by the victors clearly didnt have the foresight to anticipate the humanities department and various "studies" curiculla.
It is not so much as writing history but interpreting it is just as important.
Right now the grievance groups have a stranglehold on the historical narrative and they just.wont.let.go.
It is this lot which gloats over some revolutionary group sticking it to the man but wails over how unfair it is when the man strikes back.
I think the most recent phenomenon of this was the defeat of the Tamil Tigers-an organization every bit as vicious and bloodthirsty as an Alqaeda group comprised exclusively of Chechens.
When the SL army finally dispensed with them in 2009, whining from the Tamils all across the world got tiresome pretty quickly.
To my mind it is a matter of honor= you fought and you lost , dont go crying to mommy "international community" when it doesnt go well for you. Accept defeat with grace and dignity.
Now having said ALL that a couple of qualifications
1) When SL Tamils laid their arms, they stayed laid down since 2009. There was no more "insurgency" which is more than one can say for Arabs or Pushtoons.
2) This victory may not have been possible if SL hadnt encouraged more of its troublesome Tamils to emigrate. Toronto apparently has 200k Tamils. WTF? I sympathize with Tamils, though not so much with LTTE,but I sympathize more with Toronto for having to accomadate those many Tamils!
Another troublesome minority in South Asia was the Sikhs where the host country was more than happy to use Canada as release valve.
Poor Canada.
You know when the EDL and BNP get their shit together and deal with Muslims, they will be heading for the country where the Human Rights Commission sues Mark Styen and approves of segregrated Muslim sunday school due to males fearing being polluted by menstruating girls.
"Well, you're clearly not a jingoistic Yankee philistine, whether you're the same anon who made the comments I responded to, or not; JYPs are incapable of laughing off insults to their precious Yankeedom, and they have to go nuts if you blame Yankeedom for what Yankeedom's done."
ReplyDeleteI am the same. Sorry for going anonymous. Perhaps in future I will adopt a pseudonym again. I appreciate you doing so, however, as I enjoy reading your work.
I have some Yankee ancestry it is true, no Southern, though I was not born in the USA. During my lifetime I have went from being anti-South like most of the brainwashed world. After being immersed in WN I adopted the pro-South views of most of the WN community. Also after watching BOAN, which is an excellent movie, both for content and as a film that was ahead of its time in terms of film making.
I then took a time-out from the political. Since coming back I've been able to see things with fresh eyes. One of those things is to look at the Civil War. While I know that the South was right in terms of how it came to understand the realities of living in close proximity with Africans and is unfairly castigated for such, I also think how unfortunate it was to have imported Africans in the first place.
I realize that it was probably difficult to organize against the slave importers. And yes I am aware of the likely ethnicity of the importers of slaves. But I have a real aversion to creating long-term, intractable problems for short term gain. If slave importation is not that, I don't know what is. I find it very frustrating that our people don't seem to learn, whether it is California farmers or South African farmers or US Southern State farmers, they all have seemed intent on destroying their country for their own personal gain.
It's also unfortunate it took a Lincoln to put an end to that practice.
I may not be a philistine in terms of anti-intellectualism, though I don't really like to use that term because of its origins. As for jingoistic, sure, I can be that way from time to time. Probably many of the commentariat here are that way from time to time as well. It kind of goes with the territory. Definition: "Extreme nationalism characterized especially by a belligerent foreign policy; chauvinistic patriotism." I've also read "fanatical, over the top patriotism", "bellicose nationalism", "British equivalent of chauvinism (which is 'excessive and unreasonable patriotism')".
My father is former USMC so while I can see the problems inherent in a modern belligerent foreign policy, I have to admit a certain nostalgic fondness for jingoistic sentiments that most likely stems from his attitudes. But I'm not jingoistic for brother wars.
Whole lot of Chechen going on.
ReplyDelete1. If jingoistic Yankee philistines like yourself hadn't invaded the Confederacy, all the new slaves would have been contained in the southeast.
ReplyDelete2. If jingoistic Yankee philistines like yourself hadn't invaded the Confederacy, blacks wouldn't have been turned loose onto an unsuspecting public.
3. If jingoistic Yankee philistines like yourself hadn't invaded the Confederacy, we wouldn't have desegregation, homosexualist politics, abortion, black crime, open-borders, predatory finance, the welfare state, foreign adventurism, "anti-discrimination" laws, affirmative action, snivel rights, or any of the other problems that we only have here in the south because of jingoistic Yankee philistine libs like yourself.
The big point I was making with the mention of Jamaica is that chattel slavery means treating slaves as livestock, to be bred early and often. Eventually, the slaves outnumber the masters. The Arabs got around this problem by castrating the male captives and working their slaves to death. But then again, because of geography, it was cheaper for them to go on slave raids than to feed their slaves adequately. If slavery had been allowed to persist, the huge demographic changes would make today's ructions over immigration look like a walk in the park.
"I mind. Why is it okay for various violent Chechens to just up and move to my country because they think it's a better place to practice hurting people?"
ReplyDeleteFor you to say something so simplistic and absurd shows that you are completely ignorant of martial arts. It's not about "hurting people." Similar to paranoid libs that think owning a gun means you want to kill people. On the contrary, responsible gun owners and those who practice martial arts want to preserve life and mitigate or prevent harm, not cause it.
Chechens shouldn't be let in at all, whether they like martial arts or not has nothing to do with it. They're not a traditionally White population, they cluster more with Turkic Azeris than Western Europeans.
"Americans have this image of the refugee program existing for the likes of Einstein, Toscanini, and Solzhenitsyn."

Chechens are famous for having a temper but that doesn't make them killers. Whatever this guy had with women it doesn't have anything to do with what the FBI accused him of. The fact is that he deserved a lawer. The fact is that he was killed "execution style"! The news say "he got really agitated". Wouldn't you if you were pressured to admit something you didn't do?! His estranged wife stated he was with her when the triple murder occurred. I am sure she can verify it. As for her converting, what is so wrong about it? The author is obviously anti Muslim. Well, know what, this is a free country and we all can convert to anything we want. On a another note, someone mentioned here that girls are attracted to Chechen like bad guys. True. Not criminals, but guys who can stand up for the themselves, who are not pussies. Old school American Irish-German whatever guys are like that - fucking brave. New generation is only capable of labeling and attacking people online. Like the author. Who are you? Tell us about yourself a little. Do you have a girl? A girl who cares about you? Probably not. Posting pictures here of Todashev's Russian GF amd his wife doesn't help you to prove he is a murderer and terrorist. Is ex governor Spitzer a potential terrorist because he cheated on his dear wife and a mother of his precious kids? Is he a potential murderer because he sollicetes prostitutes? And how many of "good all American men" do shit like that on a daily basis? For you to make a point of Todashev's "really young" behavior in order to illustrate how he can be involved in something horrendous just doesn't make sense. You are a closeted KKK and probably sexually unsatisfied loser.
