The Affirmative Action Nobel

From Reuters, not The Onion:
U.S. President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for giving the world "hope for a better future" and striving for nuclear disarmament.

The hilarious career of Barack Obama continues to demonstrate how much white people long to give money, fame, and power to a black guy who meets minimum standards of presentability, regardless of his lack of accomplishments.

P.S. You must check out Obama's very latest acceptance speech.

P.P.S. Lots of amusing comments below.

So when are we going to have our first AA-pope? Looks like the powers-that-be are working off their laundry list of international posts in which to plant AA-candidates. Tokenism taken to its ridiculous logical conclusion.

Yes, the Pope must be the next bastion of whiteness to fall! The holier-than-thou Catholics deserve it. The Vatican is so petulant, and their flock is now so diverse. But perhaps they'll ease the transition by putting a Latin American in place before a full-out African, who, after all, might be of the opinion that Obama is God, a not-insignificant blasphemy.

Read the comments at the New York Times here:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/10/world/10nobel.html?_r=1&hp

While the number of people cheering the award is disheartening, even a lot of professed Obama voters and supporters are saying how ridiculous this is.

Could this finally be the moment when Obama goes from being "this cool local band" to "that crappy mainstream band"? Will this be a wake-up call to O-bots that their devotion to him is nothing but a mindless cult of personality?

This is truly the height of absurdity. Even the MSNBC morning hosts are embarrassed. Two of them suggested that he will find some way to avoid accepting the award.

The Nobel Peace Prize committee is officially the woman who fainted at an Obama rally. How could they possibly go through with this? The only logical reason I can come up with is that they really, really want the US to adopt socialist medicine for some reason and they're willing to sacrifice what remains of their credibility in order to possibly help achieve that.

Funny I follow the news all the time said...

Sure it is a joke, but don’t underestimate the influence this stuff still has on many people. After all, most people respect power rather than ideas, including the idea of truth.

If truth were that important, the backlash against Obama would not even be an issue, as he wouldn’t have gotten near the office of POTUS in the first place.

Granted, it makes a mockery of the Nobel. Unfortunately the hard science Nobels have to suffer under this clownery. But 2 things:

-Nobel was for things done in the past so this is not an endorsement of Obama's reign.

-Nobel peace prizes are often used to encourage liberal political developments, which is why they are awarded before there are any results. 2 examples: Arafat/Rabin, how's that working out? Mandela/deKlerk, how's that working out. See the pattern.

I'm sorry that mother Theresa's memory has to be dragged through the mud by giving the Nobel to Obama and the other thug preceding him.

So what’s his new MSM title? Our prez, the Nobel laureate? Our Nobel prez? Our Noble prez? Our noble prez? Is this the rebranding they wanted to achieve?

From the Onion: Former President Jimmy Carter says only racists call Obama the black Jimmy Carter. 'Sure, he's had some problems,' said the former President, 'but it's not like he's betrayed an ally like West Germany over the neutron bomb in the middle of the Cold War, or encouraged the Ayatollah Khomeinei to replace a relatively stable Shah, or whined about a 'malaise'. . .

First black President given Noble prize, good thing. Noble Peace Prize becomes Democratic Machine doodad, bad thing.

Lol, my theory is that the first black at the national stage who didn't speak ebonics and end up with a scandal would end up as president.

Who were national black political figures before Obama? Sharpton, Jackson, Marrion Berry, Alan Keys.

All Barack had to do was show up and the world was his. He couldn't even find a wife that didn't occasionally say things to get him in trouble.

Keep in mind that it's quite possible that the Peace Prize committee was trying to subtly manipulate Obama into winding down the conflict in Afghanistan. I guess I'm not really surprised. Looking through the list of all Nobel Peace Prize winners, I was struck by how many outright frauds were named (Rigoberta Menchu, Al Gore, Yasser Arafat, Jimmy Carter, Henry Kissinger, Le Duc Tho, etc.). My all-time favorite was Frank B. Kellogg (1929), best known for the Kellogg-Briand Pact, which "outlawed war as an instrument of national policy." Wow! What a great idea! Who'da thunk it? I guess they forgot to tell Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini about this wonder.

A constant theme throughout the list was a strong preferemce for Kumbaya, why-can't-we-all-be-brothers peace types. Back in the 1920's and 1930's there were lots of awards associated with the League of Nations, a despicable organization which utterly failed to do anything to prevent WW II or deal with the extreme human rights violations of the emerging fascist and communist regimes. Of course, since many of its members were prominent colonial powers that weren't noted for their kindness to their subject (mostly dark-skinned) peoples, this may not have been too surprising.

So Barack Obama, who is promoting peace by sustaining two brutal Asian wars, gets his, I guess for his future acheivements. Just another affirmative action event.

Obama is in good company with such luminaries as Al Gore and Yasser Arafat. The Peace Prize has always been about what the committee wants accomplished rather than what has been done.

douchbag said...

Steve, how do you know this is absolutely about affirmative action?

It could be, but I think it's just as possible its more to send a message to the American people, "This is what we expect from America". This is of course in reference to Obama's international vision/diplomacy vs Bush's vision/diplomacy.

Call me crazy, that is what I really think. I think even if Obama was white, the Nobel committee would have still given him the award just to tell Americans how much they really hated Bush.

Jeff said...

Americans and Europeans want very much to build harmonious societies where everyone can have a good, safe, and productive niche. Americans also have the E Pluribus Unum project of trying to create a new nation out of many nationalities.

It's all a question of assimilation. It can't work if some nationalities don't assimilate, and instead continue to pursue their own selfish tribal goals, seeking to strip the host nation of resources, to overpower the host nationality and seize control of government.

James Kabala said...

While Obamamania grows out of affirmative action, it seems to have taken on a life of its own. After all, King, Tutu, and Mandela, as well as numerous Asians and Latins, are already Nobel Peace Prize winners; Obama is no pioneer here.

I consider this the biggest joke in the history of the Peace Prize. I don't mean Obama is a worse man than Arafat, but at least the Oslo Accords were a genuine concrete thing people could point to that seemed at the time to be an accomplishment. I'm glad to see honest liberals like Greenwald and Yglesias regard this as the joke it is.

Matra said...

If they had to give it to a black man due to affirmative action/positive discrimination they should've at least given it to one who could've used the award and subsequent world publicity for peaceful purposes such as reconciling his nation. For example, Zimbabwe's Morgan Tsvangirai.

outlaw josey wales said...

From Obama's statement regarding the prize:

"Let me be clear, I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations.

To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize, men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace."

But somehow he is still guilty of something, right? Is it 'coz 'ees black? This is why HBD never gets anywhere. It has plenty of valid criticism of liberal ideas, but it's biggest proponents are invariably drawn back to the if black success then always because of AA. It's like a black hole.

Admittedly, actual AA is pretty BS, and harms those it purports to help, but I have never been worried about it. I'm so far to the right of the curve that the chance it would have any material impact on my life is inconsequential. Isn't it only whites of mediocre intelligence who should worry? Events like this one are a tacit, unconscious acknowledgement of HBD by those who consciously deny it. They're using different standards to judge different groups of people. No thanks! We're already diverse enough, thank you very much:

"New figures from the City of Oslo indicate that every fourth resident of Norway's capital has a non-Norwegian background....

"The largest single immigrant group continues to be from Pakistan, with 20,313 living in Oslo. Next in line is Somalia, with 9,708 immigrants and Sweden, with 7,462. Other countries with relatively large immigrant groups in Oslo include Sri Lanka, Poland, Iraq, Turkey, Vietnam, Iran and Denmark. Eastern Europeans as a whole make up nearly as large a group of immigrants as those from Pakistan, with 19,721 registered as living in Oslo...." [source]

And the results are that Oslo (and Norway) have become very "vibrant", indeed.

(Needless to say, Thorbjørn Jagland, chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, doesn't live in Oslo.)

Obama should not travel to Sweden to accept the award or do so on the Swedes' schedule. Emasculating (or to use a more racist term, "civilizing") a sitting US president in this manner would be a wet dream of the European leadership.

You know, I really wish. This sort of notion was the one thing that gave me any peace of mind upon Obama's election: "OK, well this sucks, but maybe at least it will nudge the black community to start shedding its most destructive pathologies."

But I've come to realize something: That's not how blacks see Obama. They aren't seeing a darker-skinned white persona, essentially. They aren't having aspirational "ah ha!" revelations. They're just doing what everyone else does with the guy: projecting themselves onto him. And so he's a brother who has penetrated the system. They don't see a black man transformed to accommodate the establishment; they see an establishment transformed to accommodate a black man.

They needed him to be one of their own -- the moment made it irresistible -- and that's what they made him.

So I'm afraid the pathologies not only aren't being shed, they've actually been reinforced.

-A Nobel is no longer something to be in awe of
-Liberals have shown again that they control certain platforms and from there try and control the world. It's so open and obvious; they are giving the game away with this type of childish behavior.
