The Affirmative Action Nobel

From Reuters, not The Onion:
U.S. President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for giving the world "hope for a better future" and striving for nuclear disarmament.

The hilarious career of Barack Obama continues to demonstrate how much white people long to give money, fame, and power to a black guy who meets minimum standards of presentability, regardless of his lack of accomplishments.

P.S. You must check out Obama's very latest acceptance speech.

P.P.S. Lots of amusing comments below.

203 posts and counting. But we're missing the deeper issue. How did the Nobel Prize come about? Isn't Dynamit Nobel a weapons manufacturer? Isn't the Nobel Prize then a fig leaf for making money out of explosives and weapons? Doesn't the money which the lareate4s receive come from weapons sales? In that sense it's an ancient SWPL project. I.e. doe the opposite of what you profess outwardly in order to max. social prestige/moral superiority whilst making as much money as possible.

Yes, the Pope must be the next bastion of whiteness to fall! The holier-than-thou Catholics deserve it. The Vatican is so petulant, and their flock is now so diverse. But perhaps they'll ease the transition by putting a Latin American in place before a full-out African, who, after all, might be of the opinion that Obama is God, a not-insignificant blasphemy.

I'd say the next pope might as well be a Black African. Why? Africans tend to be much more serious about religion than the average European or North American. Catholicism is receding in the West and expanding in developing countries and in Asian and African countries in particular. So, your example wasn't very good.

At the high end of intellectual achievement, whites' competition consists almost entirely of East Asians, (largely Jewish) whites, and South Asians. AA gets some unqualified people (and some qualified people, but that ain't the way to bet) into the door, but it doesn't get them high-impact publications, or long publication lists, or involvement in hot areas of research (though landing in a hot area is largely luck).

How is this supposed to be responsive to my comment? Affirmative action means that blacks don't need to publish (or whatever) to obtain prestigious or powerful positions that would otherwise go to high-IQ whites..

"Has anyone ever asked Ward Connerly how he would feel if purely colorblind admissions to Medicine/Law/Business Schools meant that there would be ZERO African-American students from now until the end of time?"

I don't know, but the last time I saw ole' Ward, I asked him how he would feel if Texas Jackrabbits started falling out of the sky.

The Truth About Obama's Nobel Prize
Nobel Prize Committee Chair Thorbjørn Jagland is shamelessly seeking the spotlight.

"The Committee has defended its decision by saying that Obama has opened up the international diplomatic scene after some 'scary years', as Jagland puts it. Norway is heavily vested in the UN system and the whole political elite is happy to see U.S. participate more in UN processes.

"His official English manuscript for the award says 'Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play.'

"His Norwegian announcement used the word 'should' instead of 'can'. This is a fairly significant change of wording, because it reflects the Norwegian ambitions for being an international powerbroker in humanitarian work. The national ambition is paired by classic public choice concerns."
