Priming in Action: "Dorner Unchained"

From The Hollywood Reporter:
L.A. Fugitive Christopher Dorner Reveals Strong Opinions on Hollywood in Bizarre Manifesto
1:38 PM PST 2/7/2013 by THR Staff
Three people are dead, including a policeman, as the shooting-rampage suspect remains on the loose.
As a massive manhunt presses on in search of former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner, who stands accused of killing two civilians and a police officer this week, the suspect's rambling, chilling manifesto -- which contains, among the names of suspected targets, a long list of celebrities and media figures he admires -- has left Hollywood shocked.
Among the Hollywood figures called out in the document, which was posted to Dorner's Facebook page, is director Todd Phillips, director of The Hangover movies.
"It’s kind of sad I won’t be around to view and enjoy The Hangover III," Dorner writes. "What an awesome trilogy. Todd Phillips, don’t make anymore Hangovers after the third, takes away the originality of its foundation."
... He singles out Ellen DeGeneres for her "excellent contribution to entertaining America and bringing the human factor to entertainment." He also credits her with shaping how the country views "the LGBT community."
Christoph Waltz's Oscar-nominated performance in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained showed "glimpses of Daniel Day-Lewis and Morgan Freeman-esque type qualities of greatness," Dorner writes. He also praises the actor's Oscar-winning turn in Inglourious Basterds.

Here is Dorner's full paragraph praising Waltz, which hopefully will now become part of Django Unchained's Oscar campaign. Blowing these words up on a Sunset Blvd. billboard is the least we can do:
Christopher Walz*, you impressed me in Inglorious Basterds. After viewing Django Unchained, I was sold. I have come to the conclusion that you are well on your way to becoming one of the greats if not already and show glimpses of Daniel Day Lewis and Morgan Freeman-esque type qualities of greatness. Trust me when I say that you will be one of the greatest ever.

And if you can't trust a spree-killer, who can you trust?

I bet Jamie Foxx is feeling a little left out right now. Why does Waltz's performance get all the love?
----------------
* Note to all the racist spreekillers / fans of Christoph Waltz (not "Christopher Walz") out there: Always run spellchecker before hitting Save. You may not get a chance to edit your spelling later.

Actually, we already know his take on Jerry Seinfeld.

Larry David, Kevin Hart, the late Patrice Oneal, Lisa Lampanelli, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Louis CK, Dave Chapelle, Jon Stewart, Wanda Sykes, Dennis Miller, and Jeff Ross are pure geniuses. I’m a big fan of all of your work. As a child my mom caught me watching Def Jam comedy at midnight when I should have been asleep. Instead of scolding me, the next night she let me stay up late and watch George Carlin, Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor comedy specials with her for hours. My sides were sore for days.

Steve- I hope you dont try to paint this guy as some cookie cutter black racist. I read his manifesto in its entirety at the laist website. Here is an excerpt that reinforces my point:

Mr. Bill Cosby, you are a reasonable and talented man who has spoken the truth of the cultural anomalies within the black communities that need to change now. The black communities' resentment toward you is because they don't like hearing the truth or having their clear and evident dirty laundry aired to the nation. The problem is, the country is not blind nor dumb. They believe we are animals. Do not mute your unvarnished truthful speech or moral compass. Blacks must strive for more in life than bling, hoes, and cars. The current culture is an epidemic that leaves them with no discernible future. They're suffocating and don't even know it. MLK Jr. Would be mortified at what he worked so hard for in our acceptance as equal beings and how unfortunately we stopped progressing and began digressing. Chicago's youth violence is a prime example of how our black communities values have declined. We can not address this nation's intolerant issues until we address our own communities morality issues first. Accountability. We need to hold ou

Won't be long before he gets the Omar Thornton treatment where he'll be portrayed as a sensitive soul anguished by the racism and injustice of society and thus forced to do what he did. The victims look like they'll be harder to blame as having brought it upon themselves, as in the previous case, but they'll find a way to equate him with them as all being co-victims. Seeing as he was in the military and then a cop and liked former president Bush, any future movie will be able to portray him as being at heart a great patriot who just snapped under the pressure. Perhaps it'll be found out he took some medication so then that'll be blamed; it'll be a greedy white pharmaceutical company and doctors who gave this poison to our patriot.

I find Dorner's mocking of George Zimmerman quit ironic.

"If you continuously followed me while I was walking at dusk/night I would confront you as well. Too bad Trayvon didn’t smash your skull completely open, Zim. While Trayvon’s body erodes to bones 6 feet under, Zimmerman has put on no less than 40 pounds while out on bail. Zimmerman was arrested for battery on a Peace officer and avoided jail/prison because he completed a diversion program. Thats a history of being an asshole. Zimmerman couldn’t get hired by a LE agency because of poor credit/and a history of violence/restraining orders with women. So what does he do? Designate himself, neighborhood watch captain and make complaints to his city council about the horrible work ethic and laziness of the officers patrolling his neighborhood. Good one Zim. How classy that your father attempts to use his veterans status “disabled veteran” during your bail hearing but doesn’t state what his disability percentage is. Prior service personnel know it can be 5% disability to 100%. You and your attorneys always avoid mentioning your fathers occupation as a magistrate/judge because I’m sure he’s utilized his position to get you out of way more jams then the public has discovered and that your family is not indigent. Oh, tell your wife to stop perjuring herself in court"

Mr. Anon said...

The LAPD has announced an officer safety alert. It's remarkable how armed government organizations now leap into "force protection" mode. We need an army.....to protect the army. We need a police force.....to protect the police force.

And how have they been doing this? Well, they riddled a blue Toyota pickup truck with bullets, shooting the two women inside. Donrner was believed to be driving a grey Nissan pickup, so I guess they were just being careful.

One thing I would like to see widely addressed in our "national conversation" about the second amendment is this: Gun-grabbers routinely point to this or that atrocity as justification for the banning of guns. You don't need an AR. You don't need a pistol. You don't need a magazine with more than ten rounds capacity. Weapons like these in the hands of civilians only lead to senseless deaths. YOU ought not to have them.

Well, police not uncommonly kill, wound, and maim people whom they are not supposed to, through incompetence, criminal negligence, depraved indifference to human life, criminal psychopathy, or cold-blooded malice with intent. This incident in LA is a perfect example of that. A maniac ex-cop murders three people, shoots several more, and then his erstwhile collegues get trigger-happy, seeing his shadow in every dark-toned japanese pickup.

Why should we not conclude from instances like this (and there are many others as well) that cops should not be armed. It is simply too dangerous. If we save even only one life, then it would be worth it to disarm them.

His manifesto is pretty funny. It has random compliments like this to Tim Tebow:

"Tebow, I really wanted to see you take charge of an offense again and the game. You are not a good QB by todays standards, but you are a great football player who knows how to lead a team and WIN. You will be “Tebowing” when you reach your next team. I have faith in you. Get out of that circus they call the Jets and away from the reality TV star, Rex Ryan, and Mark Rapist Sanchez."

It sounds wild/comical when you put it that way, but I've long suspected that the "radical centrists" of the Arianna Huffington type are substantially more filled with wrath than are routine partisans. Whether they end up bringing it on themselves or they're merely trying to hide their simmering rage, I'm not so sure. I don't think it was racial. In his manifesto, Dorner says he was going after blacks as well:

http://gawker.com/5982440

"Those Caucasian officers who join South Bureau divisions (77th,SW,SE, an Harbor) with the sole intent to victimize minorities who are uneducated, and unaware of criminal law, civil law, and civil rights. You prefer the South bureau because a use of force/deadly force is likely and the individual you use UOF on will likely not report it. You are a high value target.

Those Black officers in supervisory ranks and pay grades who stay in south bureau (even though you live in the valley or OC) for the sole intent of getting retribution toward subordinate caucasians officers for the pain and hostile work environment their elders inflicted on you as probationers (P-1′s) and novice P-2′s. You are a high value target. You perpetuated the cycle of racism in the department as well. You breed a new generation of bigoted caucasian officer when you belittle them and treat them unfairly."

I'm going to go against the grain here.

Dorner does get a little weepy about getting picked on as a kid because he was black. But overall, he comes across as a guy who seems to believe in American ideals (not an aspiring rapper, no baby mommas, proud of naval career, etc) and is terrifically offended by his treatment by the borg...

I think people should look past the race angle and look more at the everyman against tyranny. Sure, he's a bit of a nutjob, but this stuff always starts on the margins.

When was the last time we had some disaffected guy hunting police officers because he felt screwed by a corrupt system.

Yeah, that was his point. Can't you even parse an english sentence for meaning? The press has no problem touting the references to white guys, but soft peddles the fact that the killer ex-cop is an Obama fan.

Although, to be fair, that fact is perhaps not really newsworthy. "Black" and "Obama-fan" are just about synonymous, even more so than "black" and "killer".

Official H.R. 140 cosponsor list

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) has introduced the first immigration bill into the 113th Congress - the Birthright Citizenship Act that would end the practice of giving automatic citizenship to every child born in the United States. H.R.140 would require at least one parent of newborns to be a U.S citizen or legal permanent resident in order to receive automatic citienship. The bill was introduced with 13 original cosponsors.

The United States is one of two developed nations (Canada) to still offer automatic citizenship to all children born in the U.S. Most other developed nations have ended the practice over the past 20 years.

Rep. King offered identical legislation in 2011 after taking the lead from former Rep. and current Georgia governor Nathan Deal who had offered the legislation in earlier Congresses. The bill clarifies that an individual born in the United States is "subject to the jurisidction thereof" if at least one of the parents is a U.S. citizen, a legal permanent resident, or an alien serving in the U.S. military.

You can not turn a 72 percent Nonwhite city like Los Angeles into Copenhagen when it comes to lower levels of crime, especially since most of the Nonwhite population in Los Angeles is the NAM types, which produce a lot of thugs. Thug life is very popular in Los Angeles NAM culture. Just look at the 1992 L.A riots as an example.

In a previous thread a couple of us were throwing out quotes from American Psycho--Patrick Bateman on Huey Lewis and Whitney Houston--and this creep reads a bit like those same satirical music reviews from that book, just stringing together boilerplate superlatives and phrases he's picked up along the way, mimicking the shallow chatter that is most of the culture.

He's an idiot version of Bret Ellis' character from the novel, a narcissistic sociopath capable only of greed and rage, so oversated by a consumerist culture of surface appearances (Dorner is obsessed with his "name") that he is no longer capable of, if he ever was, distinguishing between murder and, say, the proper take on Piers Morgan.

I'm not sure what "peaceful race" really means and how it relates to violent crime rates. Germans and Japanese have low crime rates, but their behavior in WWII doesn't strike one as that of a "peaceful race".

At any rate, a significant proportion of the Muslims in France are black Africans and Berbers and other non-Arabs. Most Muslims in England are from Pakistan and India.

Arab countries have among the lowest violent crime rates in the world. Most ordinary Americans cannot process this because of their media consumption over the past decade during the "War on Terror".

Many Muslim countries are riven by sectarian violence, while ordinary violent crime is quite rare. So you won't get mugged for your wallet, but you can get bombed into splinters for being a Sunni or Shia (or Christian).

FWIW, this guy Dorner alleged his female training officer kicked a schizophrenic man, but did so weeks after the incident and just before his probationary period was up, when he had good reason to figure he'd get a failing grade. Three independent witnesses agreed that the female training officer did NOT kick the schizo guy. Women officers statistically are very rare for physical abuse, for obvious reasons.

Dorner shot the daughter of an LAPD captain who defended him during his hearing, and tried to help him. Plus her fiancee (she was Asian, her fiance a new security officer at USC was Black). He shot at ambush two Riverside officers.

Bottom line: the guy was as nuts as Jared Lee Loughner, or James Holmes, or any of those spree killers. He just wanted to kill people, and found an excuse. He makes as much sense as Loughner or Cho (the VT killer).

I just can't see how killing some random cop, a new couple with no relation to him, had anything to do with his treatment at the LAPD. He just wanted to kill people.

I find this a much more likely scenario - that he manufactured an incident to bluster his way through a bad probationary evaluation, than that he was an honest cop who was done in by the system. Given his subsequent behavior (steroid induced, perhaps, as some have posited based on his appearance) I think it's fair to say that he was probably not a good cop.
