Perhaps Obama has already turned down Clinton for Veep ...

because she's not a white male?

I wouldn't be surprised if Hillary hasn't already dispatched some trustworthy elder statesman such as George Mitchell to sound out Obama about an Obama-Clinton ticket, only to have Obama say he can't give Hillary the Veep slot because he needs a white male as a running mate.

No evidence for this, of course, just pure speculation ...

Just my feeling but I think she still expects to win this thing and at this point wouldn't allow any actions to be taken which, if leaked, demonstrated the contrary.
Obama as the VP candidate with her is much more likely than Hillary as the VP candidate. The only, and I mean only, basis for her taking the second slot is some sense she may have that he won't complete his term.

You're right, of course, it would do Obama no possible good to have Hillary as a running mate. She could only cost him votes. Not to mention the added expense of hiring a food taster.

James Webb maybe. While Webb unfortunately does support limited amnesty, he is hostile toward the guest worker concept. I think he could pull over many Republicans. Byron Dorgan would be another good choice.

The idea that Obama-Clinton is a "dream team" is nothing BUT a dream. Both of them would be trying to make history at the same time. The campaign would have to deal with the anti-feminist and the anti-black bias at the same time. We won't be able to handle two victim stories at the same time.

On intrade though Obama and Clinton occupy the top choices for veep, there are another 80% worth of people. Evan Bayh, Wesley Clark, and Jim Webb look like solid choices.

I'm surprised no Spitzer or Ferraro commentary. Both have the same old victims groups up in arms.

There has got to be a federal law somewhere which would make such a declaration illegal.

Where is the EEOC when you need them?

On paper Jim Webb would be a great VP choice for Obama, but can we be sure that Webb will even vote for Obama?

I think she should pick Al Gore. Clinton-Gore has a winning ring to it, and I still have the bumper sticker on my truck. lol There would be no question about experience, and he has already won the popular vote for president in a previous election.

You really think Hill would consider being VP?? I think she'd rather take her chances on Obammy imploding and challenge McCain 4 years from now. And if Hill DID become VP...whither Bill?? "You mean we got to live in Al Gores house...uh,together?"

Obama seems set for both the nomination, and a total implosion. Allowing Hillary to be once again, inevitable.

Webb? VP choices rarely swing elections, and Obama is looking like George McGovern, circa 1972. Not good. Hitching up to the Obama Wagon could leave him gone when he's up for re-election.

Obama wants a gun ban, MORE affirmative action, weak on terrorism (see: Michele's statements that we shouldn't protect ourselves from terrorism), anti-White sentiments, anti-Semitic sentiments, weak on Israel (being strong on Israel is a proxy for determining -- does the person want America to WIN or LOSE in conflicts), and a whole host of other issues likely to be toxic.

SNL is already parodying "Secretary of State Sharpton" so you can imagine what non Upper East-siders think. If Webb wants to hold on to his seat he better dump on Obama. Otherwise he's toast for a Republican. Obama will bring about general "white flight" excepting wealthy yuppies to Republicans.

And Obama will have UNLIMITED AMNESTY. Something Webb likely supports too but his voters don't. Another smart reason to stay away from Obama. VA isn't IL or South Side Chicago.
