The Onion's Back on Track

Mickey Kaus should appreciate The Onion's "Media Having Trouble Finding Right Angle on Obama's Double-Homicide:"

So far, the president's double-homicide has not been covered by any major news outlets. The only two mentions of the heinous tragedy have been a 100-word blurb on the Associated Press wire and an obituary on page E7 of this week's edition of the Lake County Examiner.

While Obama has expressed no remorse for the grisly murders—point-blank shootings with an unregistered .38-caliber revolver—many journalists said it would be irresponsible for the press to sensationalize the story.

"There's been some debate around the office about whether we should report on this at all," Washington Post senior reporter Bill Tracy said while on assignment at a local dog show. "It's enough of a tragedy without the press jumping in and pointing fingers or, worse, exploiting the violence. Plus, we need to be sensitive to the victims' families at this time. Their loved ones were brutally, brutally murdered, after all."

Around the time of the inauguration, I recall CNN's website had something from Chris Rock declaring that there was no humor to be found in the epic triumph of Obama. My first thought was, "Chris Rock's never seen Blazing Saddles?" The President is Near!

For whatever reason, I seldom bellylaugh these days. But when I got to the sentences below, I had a long, sustained bellylaugh complete with tears racing down my cheeks.

The New York Times newsroom is reportedly still undecided on whether or not to print a recent letter received from Obama, in which the president threatens to kill another helpless citizen every Tuesday and "fill [his] heavenly palace with slaves for the afterlife" unless the police "stop the darkness from screaming."

Let me expound on what I was just saying: Humor needs a basis in truth to succeed, but it also needs an element of the absurd to be funny.

The problem with this piece is that it is NOT absurd - we've been witnessing precisely this sort of behavior out of the press for more than two years now.

Was it funny when the little boy said, "The Emperor has no clothes"?

Or was it simply obvious?

Steve,

Forgive me, but this is completely unrelated (but astonishing to my naive ears).

Did you know the Southern Poverty Law Center spends 89% of its income on "administrative fees" and "fundraising"?

Wayne Lutton discusses that in the YouTube video.

That is a "hatefact" worthy of the Onion. I'd have never believed it if somebody told me. I mean hell, how much overhead can a group that sues people for a living actually have?

BTW-----Here is the funniest thing Ive ever seen the Onion do:

Not so tangential. In South Africa the ANC leader Zuma, who was convicted of rape and has over 700 counts of fraud stacked against him, will become prez anyway. The line from Zuma to Obama is shorter than most realise.

I doubt all that money is for overhead. Steve has already pointed out that they are a money making racket. They must be doing other deals on the side, and hide it as admin so the donors don't get too disgusted, though I'm sure most donors are aware of the true nature of the place anyway.

Ha! Didn't think the SWPL Onion had it in them to do that. (Lately they've been as shill-ish as Jon Stewart.)

"Plus, we need to be sensitive to the victims' families at this time. Their loved ones were brutally, brutally murdered, after all." That's especially good and accurate: Focusing on victimology to avoid condemning evildoers.

Btw, does anyone else find it interesting that the most current threat to U.S. interests is coming from East Africa, the region to which our president is so intimately connected?

one of obama's half brothers, samson obama, was denied a visa to enter the UK this week. he is suspected of sexually assaulting a girl in britain last year. it was later discovered that samson had been living in the UK illegally for 7 years.

samson was previously denied a visa to enter the US by american officials, when he attempted to see barack obama's inauguration.

american news media coverage: zero.

While reading the Onion article you posted, I saw this one on the bottom.

lol. Some types of humor you laugh at the "punch line" and other types you laught at the "straight line". Woody Allen is the classic example of a straight line comedian, where the joke is always on him. We get it before he does.

Satire is really straight humor. The height of satire was in the days of kings and queens (the emperor has no clothes) when laughing about the royals could end with your head coming off. Gulliver's travels is a good example of this. They would first create a world where there were some obvious parallels without ever connecting the two.

To fit the modern day example we could transport ourselves to a world where subjects all had giant arms.

According to Google, that article at the Baltimore Sun ought to be here:

Those pirates have managed to collect all of $30 million in ransoms, and haven't harmed their hostages. How much have the pirates on Wall Street taken us for? A helluva lot more than that.

I'm all for the pirates stimulating Soalia's economy. It gives Somalis less reason to want to come here.

"It's enough of a tragedy without the press jumping in and pointing fingers or, worse, exploiting the violence. Plus, we need to be sensitive to the victims' families at this time. Their loved ones were brutally, brutally murdered, after all."

This is pitch-perfect.

Just substitute "Obama" with "the rapists, torturers, and murderers of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom" - or any of the 30,000+ black rapists of white women annually (white men raping black women < 10.00).

We don't want to give the impression that diversity has a downside.

That would go against one of the sacred ideologies of our rulers.

So the massive NAM crime wave against whites is hushed. "Hush crimes."

But phony stories like the Duke Lacross rape hoax are on Nancy Grace et al. for months.

Did anyone say about the James Byrd dragging murder: "It's enough of a tragedy without the press jumping in and pointing fingers or, worse, exploiting the violence" so let's not report this, or soft-pedal it if we do - and report it only in local venues, not national ones? No.

The media is in bed with the government; both are anti-white.

(Gasp! Diversity has a downside? No! Any story remotely tending to that conclusion must be killed. After all, we have to make reality conform to our dreams somehow!)
