Jeantel: Trayvon not racist, just homophobic

From a Mediaite summary of a CNN Piers Morgan interview with Rachel Jeantel:
In the second part of his interview with Jeantel, Morgan turned to the “creepy-ass cracker” comment she made and the major impact it had on the tenor of the case. She explained that the term is actually spelled “cracka” and defined it as “people who are acting like they’re police.” She said that if Zimmerman had calmly approached Martin and introduced himself, her friend would have politely said what he was doing there and nothing more would have happened. ...
Jeantel insisted that Martin was “creeped out” and believed Zimmerman was following him, even worrying that he might be a “rapist.” She asked, “For every boy or every man who’s not that kind of way, seeing a grown man following them, would they be creeped out?”

Consider two slightly different phrases:

"Creepy ass cracka" v. "Crazy ass cracka"

The latter implies a perception of aggressiveness, recklessness, or hostility, while the former implies homosexuality.

I suggested this general possibility back in March 2012:
Let's try thinking like Tom Wolfe: for maximum discomfiture. Here's a possibility that might come out at, say, a trial of George Zimmerman if Crump dares put the girlfriend on the stand and expose her to cross-examination: It's hardly implausible that Trayvon Martin might have worried that this strange man was following him in the dark for homoerotic purposes, and he might have mentioned that concern to his girlfriend over the phone.
Of course, if he did, he probably wouldn't have used the term "homoerotic purposes."
What if Trayvon used the (heavens) "3-letter F-word" to describe Zimmerman? What if he said to her, "I'm going to punch that f__ because I hate f___?"
Chaos in the courtroom ...
Of course, then we would be treated to learned disquisitions on how gaybashing is actually okay as long as the bashee isn't actually gay; or that what Trayvon actually meant was that he wanted to punch that pedophile and pedophile-bashing is A-OK.

Now, it didn't work out exactly that way in court, but that appears to have been more or less the situation on that sad, SNAFU night in the condo complex.

Paul Blart v. C-Murder.

By the way, how would Trayvon have felt about all the media depictions of him as a child? Pretty upset, I imagine.

Jeantel's not so stupid ater all, is she Steve?

Sounds like she's somewhat more observant and a bit nuanced in the actual terms of day to day folks her community uses.

Wonder who will ghost write her book?

David said...

The first part of her explanation is different from the second part. The first part is that Zimmerman was acting like a cop. The second part, that he was acting like a homosexual stalker. (The two categories are not mutually exclusive, but she didn't say that.)

The first part seems like something she was coached to say by the prosecution and she's regurgitating it. The second, different part sounds like her own "keeping it real" true opinion.

Trayvon Martin was a homophobe ("creepy") and a racist ("cracka").

His remarks came before he doubled back and tried to make a Matthew Shepard out of Zimmerman.

Did Martin bully homosexual kids in school? Or, put it this way: were there any kids who bullied who were homosexual?

Martin was evidently so frightened by this "homosexual stalker", that he continued to talk to his friend, rather than, say, call his father, or 911.

And I find the notion that Zimmerman absolutely should not have gotten out of his car puzzling. What is the ultimate logic of this belief? That black males are intrinsically dangerous? That being around one is like being in a bus on safari, and if one steps out of the vehicle one is provoking the wild animals?

In the little snippet of the interview I've seen Jeantel managed to look worse than on the witness stand. Did anybody watch the whole thing? Did Pierce Morgan ask her if she really was Trayvon's girlfriend? Because that would almost breach the bounds of heterosexuality. If you're doing THAT, who are you to call others perverts?

Hey Steve, how's the protest going in L.A.

I saw video of "youths" tearing down a fence, walking on cars, and obstructing traffic. Does this qualify as a riot yet?

If it nobody gets hurt and there is only minor destruction of private property, what do we call that? Unruliness?

Also, check that some random white jogger in Mississippi allegedly was kidnapped and beaten as a retaliation.

More to come? or will this kerfuffle die down quickly.

Actually, Steve, the person who knows the most about this case (Sundance of the blog The Last Refuge, the Conservative Treehouse) doesn't even believe Miss Rachel was the person on the phone with Martin when all this went down, which is why she was all over the place with her testimony. She knew him when they were very young and hadn't seen him for years and then only was "re-acquainted" with him approx. 2-3 weeks before he died. It is likely the girl who WAS on the phone with him didn't get involved in all this and Rachel was a stand-in....for dollars, masterminded by Benjamin Crump.

Last year, I followed a link from Gucci Little Piggy, who was at first doing great posts on the story. He sent us over to another blog, the one I mentioned, The Last Refuge.

Man, you talk what this guy has found out and been through in the process--real cloak and dagger stuff, and yeah, Holder's DOJ is involved, of course the Black Grievance Industry's usual suspects. It was Benjamin Crump and his BGI law firm pals who actually got the make-Zimmerman-into-a-monster movement started. To do that, he need the parents and the girl who was purportedly on the phone with Trayvon, and he needed to create the narrative. Lots of dollars in it for all of them.

Pt 2.

Naturally, the school district, the high school Trayvon attended and the MDSD-PD got really nervous when Martin was killed. Recall all the differing stories about his "school history"? Ben Crump, the attorney for the Martins, had created a beautiful narrative of Trayvon--superior student, never in trouble, etc. Then, some stuff came out that he was on a 10 day suspension when he was killed. Rumors were floating all over the place. What kind of student was he? Any behavioral problems? any arrests?

Turns out, they couldn't quiet down the story that when he was killed, he was on a suspension, but the school officials lied and said, "Oh, just for tardies, you know, nothing serious."

Ten day suspensions aren't given for tardies.

Law enforcement in Sanford was having trouble finding out anything about his school behavior as well. While Crump was serving his purpose with the wonderful story of Trayvon, the school, the district, and the police chief of the school district found themselves with their own reasons for letting everyone think the only problems Trayvon had ever had were tardies. They were covering up all his other behavioral problems, not to protect the memory of the dead teen, but to protect their own asses.

Blogger Sundance just kept digging to finally find out the truth: the police on campus were NOT writing kids up, not arresting them, even when they caught them with evidence of having been involved in felonies.

Trayvon's bag had women's jewelry in it, stolen women's jewelry and a long screw driver kids use as a type of Slim Jim for burglaries. Instead of arresting him (he had had other problems that last year, weed and suspicion of selling it and spraying "WTF" on lockers)when they found the women's jewelry, which had been reported as stolen by a woman in home nearby. they didn't write him up for it, and instead took the bag and put it in the property room with simply a generic description of its contents.

In other words, Trayvon's criminal activity was hidden in order to make the stats look good as the criminal activity of other students was covered up as well.

woman said...

Pt. 3

I am not doing any of this story justice. Go to the blog. There is enough there about this case and Sundance's investigation into it that you'll see revealed more corruption than you can digest: from Holder's DOJ to the state's attorney's office to...well, the list is endless.

The Black Grievance Industry? For them, the case offered the usual shake downs they're after, but for the Obama/Holder machine, the case ties into their attempts to enact disparate impact for school suspensions/expulsions and, of course, to their gun control fixation.

The archive at the Last Refuge is extensive. Every once in a while you can get summaries of things, but I'd suggest starting at the beginning and tracing the progress of Sundance and his band of Treepers as they made their way through the morass.

BTW, on one of his trips to FLa, Miami, I think, Sundance's car was set afire in the parking lot of a courthouse. Yeah, he IS in danger.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/crime/blog/bs-md-trayvon-martin-george-zimmerman-monday-20130715,0,5135359.story

"In a post that drew nearly 50 comments on Facebook, real estate agent Christina Dudley said she was walking to her car just before 9 p.m. when she saw several young black males and two black females chasing a 37-year-old Hispanic man west on North Linwood Avenue past East Fairmont Avenue.

"One of the boys had a handgun out and it was pointed at the back of him," Dudley said in an interview.

They caught up to the man at the corner of Fairmount and N. Streeper Street, and the male with the gun beat the victim with what appeared to be his gun while others kicked and stomped him, Dudley said.

"They were just yelling and calling him names as they ran after him, but once they were hitting him and after that they started yelling, "This is for Trayvon, [expletive]," said Dudley, who heard the chant repeated multiple times."

Really? I don't recall fearing a violent homosexual attack, ever. And I wasn't that ugly.

While Martin was probably vocalizing something about a homosexual stalking him, it was probably just an excuse to get himself psyched up for an assault. Some snitch is following him? He must be a racist. He must be a Klan member. That bastard. He must be a faggot. I hate faggots. I hate faggot Klan member crackers. He needs a beatdown. I've done a lot of thinking about the anger of the black public toward George Zimmerman. The more I think about it, the more I think they are being had by the professional race baiters.

I don't blame black people for being fearful of the police and for being angry about all the deaths of young black males, some of which undoubtedly are the result of incompetence or malfeasance on the part of cops. And then they have to endure the humiliation of coverups. Face it, that's part of the reality and I think understanding that helps to understand the backdrop of this situation.

Then you have Al Sharpton, who swoops in like a vulture, preying on their grief and rage and channeling it into social movement. It makes them feel like they are DOING something positive to change things for the better. They don't understand they are being duped.

I want to say something to all the bigots who read these comments (and who post). Yes, I understand that many black people are not terribly bright and many are not well educated. . . and even if they are well educated they may not be strong at critical thinking. But, there are some very smart blacks and there are a lot of blacks who are pretty average. You can be fooled even if you are average or even above average. Racial loyalties and misinformation can make fools of many people.

I've got news for you, it's possible to despise predators and thugs and the BAD folks AND be proud of your race, and be guilt-free and clear-thinking, and you can even have a sense of humor, without being a complete troglodyte. Don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Silver said...

"I can't speak for Steve, but unless you've been around a bunch of hateful and angry black youth, and been called that, you might not understand that it is often accompanied by threats of violence and violence itself."

That's certainly true, but the poster did mention "social equivalence," and trying to equate the two phenomena socially runs you smack bang into the wall of no one believing you, because everyone implicitly understands that a white man calling a black the n-word is a social superior putting the inferior in his place. That effect isn't always intended, of course, but it's virtually always the way it's experienced.

It won't do to play dumb and feign ignorance of this aspect. All the loud, angry, defiant "equality" talk is so loud, angry and defiant precisely because everyone deep down knows that whites are superior to blacks - or if they don't completely 'know' it, they have worlds more reason to suspect it's true than they do the reverse.

This is why calling whites 'racists' works like a charm. Whites scramble to prove they're 'not racist' precisely because either they deep down either do feel superior or, if they don't actively feel it themselves, they understand full well why other whites may feel that way, and they're deathly afraid of being seen through.

The attempt to equate the n-word and cracker keeps the issue frozen at this level of analysis. The effect of it being frozen here is that the fact that whites have real racial interests that are being egregiously trampled remains unacknowledged and unaddressed.

If you're going to play the 'cracker card,' a much more profitable way to do it is use to justify whites being concerned about white racial interests, just as blacks worried about the use of the n-word are concerned about black racial interests. There doesn't need to be equivalence in the two terms to do this.

Zimmerman approaching calmly? Trayvon responding politely? Is it even remotely possible?

This has SNL skit written all over it.

Both guys were off in their profiling, but Trayvon was more wrong and it is an interesting exercise to engage in why. Specifically, why did he think Zimmerman was *not* armed? This is central Florida after all and attacks on adult males, especially white men, are rare for that reason. So, why was Trayvon (kind of) the exception to the rule?

Now Sanford is *not* the Cracker interior and definitely not the Deep South. And Zimmerman could not be mistaken for a redneck.
As you leave southern Florida and head north into central Florida, you encounter more and more Cracker Country with its widely acknowledged gun culture. Once you get past the I-4 corridor with its Yankee transplants and Hispanics living amongst Old Florida whites: all hands on deck! To pick on a white adult is asking for a death wish.

Youth, lack of life experience, being unknowledgable about the area spring to mind. Most of all, a gay pervert non-Redneck would be highly suspected to not be armed (and who would take their chances with security?).

Disgruntled said...

There's a large area between running in fear and sucker punching and moving to the "ground-and-pound."

Black violent crime rates are several times those of other races. They have a hostile, racist, "no snitching" culture vis-a-vis police, making the crimes far more difficult to solve. On top of that, they have a whingeing, passive-aggressive, love-hate relationship with gov't and police, wherein the latter are supposed to swoop in like Superman and save them from all the crime they create, wherein poor, unethical, violent-crime-prone people with a hostile attitude toward cops are just as deserving of top-notch policing as wealthier, ethical, non-violent-crime-prone people with a cooperative attitude toward cops.

And guess who pays for everything? YT. The schools, the police, the emergency services, the welfare, the roads, etc.

So no, poor blacks and their fear and anger at the po-po, and the rare death due to law enforcement error, negligence, or even malfeasance while policing this giant demographic burden, just aren't at anywhere near the top of my sympathy list.

The term homophobia makes no sense of course.

I have a real phobia. I'm claustrophobic. I call it small radius claustrophobia because I have no problem except in very tight places. I was trapped in an elevator once and it didn't bother me. But two or three times a year I will wake up in cold sweat from a nightmare about being trapped in a pipe or something. It's very real. I'm told it's probably the result of an aging amygdala.

The term homophobia derives from a bizarre and discredited psychoanalytic theory that men feared homosexuality because they were themselves homosexual. Or that they feared that they might become homosexual. Sorry I can't find the reference in Wikipedia.

This kind of theory is popular with gays for many reasons but there is no evidence that it's true except possibly for a tiny fraction of normal men.

And of course gay men are not particularly scary. There are gay rapes of men in prison - so I'm told - but in normal society that's just a non existent crime. We know that blacks rape white women at something like 100 times (or more) the rate that white men rape black women. For gay rape of a black man by a white man the numbers must be even more dramatic. Certainly the FBI doesn't compile such figures.

My guess would be that there have been no white on black gay rapes in America outside of prison - ever.

And the idea that big muscular black Trayvon Martin would fear a little nebbish like Zimmerman is preposterous. I'm sure that Martin was revolted by the thought of gay sex but afraid? Hardly.

We know that Martin liked to get into fights. It may come out that he liked to engage in gay bashing, but that hardly helps Martin's reputation. He may have hated gays but that's not fear and no one would think it was except that we use the stupid term homophobia when we should say homo-odium.

"Blacks attacking Hispanics in Baltimore? You know, if I were a Republican lawmaker, I would play this up."

A large majority of Hispanics will never vote Republican, they're here to live off of white people as sponges, they're going to vote for welfare and affirmative action. They didn't come to this country for the scenery, they came to this country because whites have built what their people couldn't build back home, they can't build or maintain it here either, and the only way they can get it is to rob whites via governmental actions. No, they'll never vote Republican. And they didn't support Zimmerman for just that reason - solidarity with the Gibsmedat coalition.

Then again there's really no reason for WHITES to vote Republican now that conservatism has totally lost the culture war and control of the borders. And gutless Republicans making an issue out of something that is about race? What are you smoking?

Calling whites cracker dehumanizes them and makes it easier to murder, rob and maim them, it isn't all about the recipients feelings, it leads to atrocities. That's the reason it is objectionable. And the system allowing it, its double standard, is sending an important and menacing message as well. You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows, unless you're an dihonest troll.

Their "trigger-happy white gun-nut blows away innocent black child" story is turning into "doughy Hispanic shoots gay-bashing black youth in altercation." There's nothing more to be gained for the left by putting any of these people in front of any more cameras.

"Calling whites cracker dehumanizes them and makes it easier to murder, rob and maim them, it isn't all about the recipients feelings, it leads to atrocities. That's the reason it is objectionable. And the system allowing it, its double standard, is sending an important and menacing message as well. You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows, unless you're an dihonest troll."

Sounds like we're in agreement. But if you were to claim the terms were socially equivalent then I'd I have to direct you to the point I made about the debate getting stuck at that level of analysis, the effect of which is that all the ways in which white racial interests are being compromised remain unaddressed.

"While Martin was probably vocalizing something about a homosexual stalking him, it was probably just an excuse to get himself psyched up for an assault."

Oh, absolutely! He had to get hyped up on hate to attack, and reassured himself that Zim was a homosexual "pervert" (as Jeantel explained at trial), and therefore (a) deserving of a beatdown, and (b) likely a pussy as well. Except he misjudged: Zimmerman wasn't a swishy, femmy, weepy, whiny, kiddy-diddling Matthew Shephard, was he? He is dead because he psyched himself up on hateful stereotypes. Trayvon thought it would be as easy as rolling a Miami queer--just another Miami ass-cracker. Guessed wrong, didn't he?

How sad that Matthew Shephard didnt have a gun to defend himself against the Trayvons that killed him.

"Right. N----- is worse than cra---- because a word that suggests you're being insulted is worse than a word that suggests you're being threatened with physical violence. Got it."

I said the two aren't socially equivalent and that the attempt to maintain that they are typically backfires on the "white right." Like it or not whites aren't in any mood to indiscriminately unload on blacks (or anyone else), JSM. Go ahead and prove me wrong. Or just look at your own life. What has any of your over-the-top bashing of non-whites ever achieved? Next to nothing would be my guess.

I can understand your anger and your despair, but most of your people can't. A large part of the reason they can't is that you never emerge from anger and despair. You stay stuck at that level. It's that anger and despair that drives you to attempt to make the "perfect" case-for-race. A merely "adequate" case is not good enough for you. But as so often happens in life the perfect is the enemy of the adequate. "White makes right" - which is what the "perfect" case always devolves to - just doesn't cut it. It has never cut it. Can you really afford running the risk of finding out whether it will ever cut it?

they already made huge gains with this. It is now established that if GZ were white, an isteve reader, or even had a copy of the bell curve in his possesion he would be going to jail for a long long time.
-and that's for defending himself. - what the left is ultimately looking for is a way to send isteve readers and people who read the bell curve to jail without the messy pretext of some random assualt where the isteve white guy is the victim.

I think Martin felt Zimmerman had dissed him by following him. In Martin's world when someone disses you, you punch them out.

There's something else. When Martin was suspended from school for 10 days his father put him in a car and drove him 345 miles from Miami to Sanford. His father said he didn't want Travon to be hanging out with his "buddies" unsupervised for 10 days. In short, he wanted to get Trayvon out of town so he didn't get into trouble again, such as being caught again with a another bag of jewelry and what the school described as "burglary tools" (a screwdriver).

Zimmerman told the police that Trayvon looked suspicious because he kept "looking around." Of course he was looking around. That's what you do when you're casing the joint. Then Zimmerman comes stumbling in and totally blows the caper.

(Creepy ass) cracker would be a racial slur, while Creepy (ass cracker) might be a gay slur.

I heard a few minutes of Schnitt's show in the car today, and he played a sound bite from the Jeantel interview with Piers Morgan. It put the "creepy ass-cracker" thing to bed; she repeated what she said, and she clearly says "creepy-ass cracker." She also repeated the lie that "cracker" doesn't refer to white people (and thus isn't a racial epithet). Southern white people all know you're lying, honey.

She also said smoking pot doesn't make you act crazy, it just makes you hungry. Why in hell would millions of Americans smoke pot if all it did was make you hungry?

Now even his fatness Rush Limbaugh has jumped on the 'Trayvon as gay-basher' meme. Once again, Mr Sailer, you were way out in front of the pack on this one. Kudos for being one of the few left practicing something resembling journalism.

Rush had a caller on today who asked if Martin might've attacked Zimmerman because he thought he was a homo stalker/predator. Rush shot her down, didn't even bother to entertain the idea.

The "N Word" and "cracka" are not socially equivalent because blacks and whites are not socially equivalent.

I don't get offended at being called a "cracka" just like I don't get offended if my teenager explodes in a hormonal fit, "Dad, you're so stupid!"

The barbarians probably had some term for Romans which they doubtless found very funny and clever among themselves. People have had similar disdainful terms for the aristocracy.

If you're apex and you know you're apex, you don't care.

Svigor said...

If you're "apex," you feel free to drag somebody and be offended at their behavior, if that's what you want to do. I.e., a conscious, rather than a visceral, reaction. Intellectually, I find "cracker" on the wrong lips just as offensive as blacks find "[The word that makes Satan, Hitler, and Stalin tremble, but is in common use among blacks]," because of a variety of political concerns, chief among them the regime's racist, anti-white attitudes and beliefs. So what if I'm not viscerally offended by it?

Then there's reciprocity; why let blacks make demands of us that we can't make of them? Why should they expect us to refrain from epithets when they won't do likewise?

This guy argues that black-on-black crime is a myth because (get this) black-on-black crime is down, so it's just no rational to profile based on race. He ignores, of course, that in many states, black-on-black crime is down because the cops finally were given the OK to start profiling again.

Definitely sounds a bit retarded. As an example, isn't Chicago on record to have one of the highest homicides in recent memory? And most of the city's homicides are black on black.
Perhaps it depends on which urban areas he's looking at.

If fear of a pederast is "homophobia," you are implying that gay men and pedophiles are one in the same.

Well done for swallowing the media/gay lobby propaganda wholesale!

Apparently it goes this way

When you have well respected individuals with some homosexual encounters
Socrates,Alexander,Caesar Michelangelo et al then they are super gay. Gay gay gay gay , they are so wonderful because they are gay

OTOH Catholic priests, secular pederasts, gay serial killers are just straight white Christian guys who went whacko! And to imply that gays have anything to do with their behavior is deserving of tarring and feathering followed by shunning and reeducation camp

Funny how that works?

Jeantel's not so stupid ater all, is she Steve?"

She may not be stupid. She is functionally illiterate but many illiterates can be intelligent.
Of course they dont look intelligent.
There is really no excuse however for being illiterate in a first world industrialized society-it implies a utter lack of will and drive for learning.
Jeantel's performance in court was a (well deserved) humiliation for the anti Zimmerman crowd.
If you dont look smart to the media-you are not smart. The narrative is set.It was delicious to see the media falling into its own trap, especially after what they did to Bush.
Bush 43's non performance in the impromptu quiz show in September 2000 pretty much defined his persona.
The guy is a Yale grad(ok ok legacy but still) and Harvard MBA and that happened to him
