Obama's eloquence deserts him

Obama-worshipper Chris Matthews briefly pressed his idol tonight on the matter of Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. Without 5,000 prepackaged words of patented Baroque O'Blarney nuanced thoughtfulness, Obama sounded like a Time-Life Records two-for-the-price-of-one deal on the Greatest Hits of George W. Bush and Dan Quayle:

OBAMA: I think that what has happened is we took a loop out of — and compressed the most offensive things that a pastor said over the course of 30 years, and just ran it over and over and over again. There is that other 30 years. I never heard him say those things that were in those clips.

MATTHEWS: But you did say you heard him say controversial things.

OBAMA: But I’ve heard you say controversial things.

MATTHEWS: You didn’t give me $27,000 dollars either.

OBAMA: The point is this is a church that is active in AIDS. It’s active on all kind of thing. And so this is a wonderful church. But as I said, look at the amount of time that’s been spent on this today, Chris. At a time when we haven’t talked about a whole host of issues.

The LA Times reports:

And while insisting -- as he has previously -- that he was not present when Wright made the pronouncements that fueled the recent furor, he steered clear of specifying the "controversial" statements he has said he did hear from the preacher.

What did the Presidential candidate know and when did he know it?

Look, that's a stupid question, but only because the answer is clear from Obama's own autobiography. Before Obama ever met Wright in the 1980s, he had heard from other South Side black pastors that Wright was a radical. That's the main reason Obama was attracted to Wright rather than all the other pastors he had met as a community organizer: Wright was the optimal combination of leftism and successfulness.

Isn't anybody else getting tired of Obama repeatedly yanking our chains about his relationship with Rev. Wright? Unlike his protege, Wright has made sure to leave a paper (and DVD) trail decades long, and it's not thoughtfully nuanced to the verge of utter incomprehensibility, either. The Rev. says what's on his mind, and in no uncertain terms.

C'mon, Obama, be a man. Stand up and admit to one of two logical possibilities:

- Yes, I used to be about as leftist as Rev. Wright, but I changed my mind for the following reasons ...

Or

- Yes, I still am about as leftist as Rev. Wright, and here's why ...

What Obama is counting on is that white Americans don't take blacks' ideological views seriously. Obama is betting on everybody treating his relationship with Wright as a racial matter rather than as an ideological matter, and since all nice people shy away from thinking about racial matters, they'll just let it drop.

In contrast, if Wright were a white minister who was an outspoken advocate of Sandinista-style "liberation theology," a white Obama would, at a minimum, be spending a lot of time answering searching questions about his ideological evolution. But, because Obama and Wright are black, nobody takes the disagreeable Wright's ideology seriously, and everybody assumes that the personable Obama must share their ideology.

It must be driving Wright crazy. Here he goes on Fox News a year ago and tells Sean Hannity a half dozen times that he is a follower of black liberation theologian James H. Cone, and that if you want to have an argument with him about where he stands, you should first read a stack of academic books by Cone and by Dwight Hopkins. And nobody paid any attention.

Wright doesn't seem to consider himself a creative intellectual in the class of Cone, but he does view himself as a man who has thought hard for decades about subjects like the immorality of corporate capitalism.

And yet, Obama is getting away with going around the country on national television implying that the 66-year-old Wright is some kind of elderly uncle who has, tragically, gone crazy in his dotage. In reality, Wright holds the same political views today as he had when he first reeled in Obama two decades ago.

And the white media believe Obama's lies about Wright because nobody takes a black man seriously as an intellectual!

So, I don't expect we've heard the last from Rev. Wright. All summer, he's going to be sitting in his new mansion on the golf course in the gated community in 93% white suburban Tinley Park brooding on how Obama has betrayed him, and what he's going to do about it.

He'll think of something.

For example, last November 2, he invented the Jeremiah Wright Trumpeter Lifetime Achievement Award and gave it to Louis Farrakhan at a big bash at the Chicago Hyatt Regency, but it took the white media ten weeks to even notice what a black man had done. This year, there are all sorts of people he could give his award to on, say, Saturday night November 1st. And I bet this year it won't take ten weeks before the white press talks about it!

Or maybe somebody else will think of something for Wright to do. If you were a literary agent, say, wouldn't you want to sign Wright up for a quickie bestseller, with a release date targeted at, say, 10/1/08? Hustle your best ghostwriter out to Tinley Park and get Wright's memoirs and views on current issues slapped together by the Fourth of July. Make that deadline and you could have it on the bookshelves five weeks before Election Day!

No, I don't think we've heard the last from Rev. Wright.

This is like Bill Clinton's "it depends what your definition of sex is" statement. People like Matthews are only asking these stupid questions in order to provide their hero with another little backdoor. How pathetic.

Keep dreaming, Steve. This "Wright problem" will blow over and Obama will be elected President. The mainstream media will keep ignoring you as always. I guess the only downside is you will have to find someone else to obsess over. Oh well, such is life.

I continue to read comments on black blogs that say things like, "What's the big deal with what Wright said?"

In other words, most African-Americans seem to agree with the Reverend.

We KNOW Michelle Obama believes all that stuff. So it's not a big stretch to say that Barack did and does share the reverend's beliefs.

Fear of messing up may cause whites to avoid blacks

Clinton - I puffed, but I didn't inhale (pot)

Obama - I attended for 30 years, but I didn't take in or hear (statements anyone might find offensive)

Obama the wimp, full of political calculation and sweat.

Would you buy a used car from this man?

Mencken said it best: "There is but one way to look at a politician - down."

But it's unimportant, really. After all, Obama is vying only for the Presidency of the United States. Yawn. Go back to sleep.

Well, considering that Rev. Wright has not raped young boys, unlike his many of his Catholic counter-parts, is a couple of loony thoughts from the pulpit really that unnerving to white folks? But I'm not an on again/off again film scholar wannabe, so what do I know?

Sometimes Ann Coulter can be very funny, and on-target:

"Has anybody read this book? [NOTE: I guess Ann doesn't read Steve Sailer.] Inasmuch as the book reveals Obama to be a flabbergasting lunatic, I gather the answer is no. Obama is about to be our next president: You might want to take a peek. If only people had read "Mein Kampf" ...

Steve, you are being so disingenuous here that I'm sure even your loyal readers will raise an eyebrow. Clearly, those are NOT the only "logical" possibilities. Why do you leave out the most likely possibility that Obama is not radical as Wright but still considers the man a friend?

Moreover, here's an essay from conservative science fiction author Orson Scott Card totally taking issue with everything you claim about Obama:

No, because that's what we'd expect him to do. Put bluntly, he has NO legitimate excuse for why he maintained a 20 year relationship with this far left, racist, anti-American radical - at least not an excuse that a large number of Americans would accept. So he has no choice but to change the subject: "What we really need, y'all, is a dialogue on race!"

What does anger me is that the "mainstream press" has given him a free ride on the issue. They didn't report on it at all until they could give it the headline "Obama distances himself from radical preacher." If it had been a white conservative and these videos had come out they would've led the news for a week or more: "Yet more revelations tonight about evil, racist comments spewed by the Republican nominee's preacher of 20 years."

It would never go away until the candidate had stepped down. It would be over for him.

So Obama's mentor is anti-white. Yawn. What do whites matter? They deserve everything they will (I hope) get from the folks they've oppressed for the past 15,000,000 years. But Obama had better prove he's NOT got the Wright stuff where it comes to people who DO matter.

Great post. Next time you ask Yglesias about his opinions on Obama's autobiography, throw in the angle about no one taking black man seriously as an intellectual.

What many so called "leftists" and so called "liberals" don't get is that Rev Wright is not a leftist. He is a black nationalist. I mean you can dress it up any way you want but that's what he is. As a matter of fact the whole black/minority/anti-white movement which we call "left" and "liberal" is really nationalistic at its core. Everyone who thinks about it for any amount of time comes to understand that fact.

But in the West our leadership plays a game with minorities called: "we shall ignore your nationalistic/ethnic tendencies and call you liberal leftists as long as you let us have control over other whites." All whites who disagree with this convinient arrangement are then relegated to the sidelines as the "lunatic fringe" even though they are the majority. The ambitious whites than all play the game of follow the leader because that's how they think they will get ahead even though deep down inside they know better. The Emperor really has no clothes when it comes to racial relations in our society. Interesting times we live in!

So when the Saintly Reverend makes a few nationalistic remarks the majority goes "what the #!%* was that? That's weird! Is the Emperor naked?" But the national media buries it because of the little arrangement they have with non-white minorities. The Emperor has clothes they say - why are you getting out of line? The minorities just say "what's the big deal? This is the same arrangemnet we have had for ages. Why are you whites complaining?" It really is weird for them that whites would complain about something like that since they are only used to dealing with the propaganda of the leadership and the Emperor has Clothes game of other whites.

Steve is therefore going against the arranged trend current with all this reporting, but he knows that. Maybe he is hoping that one day the white majority realizes that their view is in fact the view of a majority and not what it is portrayed to be. But maybe and more likely, he is just reporting the facts, which in our Naked Emperor society seems comical.

A couple of loony thoughts wouldn't be unnerving. Decades of loony thoughts should be. But you're not very intelligent, let alone one of America's most thoughtful and honest writers, so the difference obviously escapes you.

I wouldn't describe anyone paying property taxes on a 11,000 square foot house as 'leftist'.

How many Catholics would stick around a church where the priest got up and publicly pronounced -- as a matter of church doctrine, no less -- that he supported the molestation of young boys? I understand that even a genius of your caliber may have a difficult time grasping the exceedingly fine distinction between overt and covert behaviors.

I'm not an on again/off again film scholar wannabe, so what do I know?

For your sake, I won't answer that.

Obama is toast, he's taking the Democratic Party down with him.

Barone has a fairly Sailer like article detailing the demo breakdown between Hillary and Obama. Not the "marriage-gap" analysis but Jacksonian-vs.-Academic breakdown among white voters.

Obama came out for no concealed carry today, (39 states have it) and wants a total handgun ban. These are the positions of the comfortable white yuppie left (like Sean Penn, gun ownership only for rich connected and criminal celebrities) and the Black Nationalist community (most blacks).

Your commenters about Black Nationalism are quite correct, Obama is also a Black Nationalist. He is not serious about winning the Presidency. Nor are Dems. He merely wants to PUNISH working and middle class whites.

Gun Control cost Al Gore TN and the Presidency. Had he taken the Pledge at the NRA on a stack of bibles, he would have won TN and been President. FL would not have mattered. Obama is not stupid. He knows this.

He'd rather punish whites. He's just like Wright.

[Obama got asked by Matthews if he would respond at 3 am to news of AQ hijacked planes heading for the Capitol. He gave a Dukakis-like answer, expect THAT to be played up a lot.]

What's interesting is that 527's but even more viral videos, can devastate Obama easily without McCain's fingerprints on it.

The question is not will Obama lose (yes, thank god). It's how many Dems he will take with him. Probably ... a lot.

This would be an excellent analogy if a candidate joined a parish *because* the pastor had been raping children for the past decade and selling videos of it. Oh, and awarding lifetime achievement awards to other child rapists. And even after the media got a hold of it, the candidate defended attending the parish. Then the analogy would hold.
However, rather than being praised and retiring to million-dollar estates, pedophile priests are removed from ministry sued and sometimes imprisoned.

"Obama will be elected President. The mainstream media will keep ignoring you as always. I guess the only downside is you will have to find someone else to obsess over."

If Obama is elected president, why would Sailer need someone else to obsess over? I think a president Obama would produce plenty of fodder for Steve to blog about. Indeed, from a purely selfish standpoint, President Obama would probably be the best thing for Steve's career. He'd have plenty of opportunities to say I told you so.

Is Barrak Obama's psychological obsession in identifying with his black father akin to Brian Cohen's identity crisis and embrace of terrorism when told is father isn't the Jewish Mr Cohen?

Monty Python's Life of Brian
============================
Mother: Well, Brian, your father isn't Mr. Cohen.
Brian: I never thought he was!
Mother: Now none of your cheek! He was a Roman, Brian. He was a centurion in the Roman army.
Brian: You mean...you were raped?!
Mother: Well...at first, yes.
Brian: Who was it?
Mother: Huh...Naughtius Maximus his name was. Hmm...promised me the known world, he did. I was to be taken to Rome, house by the Forums, slaves, asses' milk, as much gold as I could eat. Then he, having his way with me he had; voom! Like a rat out of an aqueduct.
Brian: He's a bastard!
Mother: Yes, and next time you go on about the "bloody Romans", don't forget you're one of them.
Brian: I'm not a Roman mum, and I never will be. I'm a kike, a jid, a heebe, a hooknose! I'm kosher, mum! I'm a red-sea pedestrian and proud of it!

I wonder if people like "evilerneocon" can imagine that there are Jews - perhaps even the majority of them, perhaps even some on this site - who oppose anti-white discrimination, not least because they are themselves white.

Yes, and we all know that Steve the Diehard Moonie got married to his current wife at one of those nifty mass weddings in South Korea. His bride was reportedly selected by Reverend and Demigod Sun Myung himself. Of course, Myung baptized his children, as well. Now Steve has the Audacity™ to run for the office of President of the United States after his decades-long friendship with his mentor Moon! Will the madness ever cease?

Really, irrelevant and ill-conceived deflections like this are the best Obamaniacs have to offer up in defense of The Messiah Barry Half-White and His Gospel of Empty Rhetorical Flourishes?

Same thing. Black nationalism is not separatist, because blacks know perfectly well whites are the golden goose. That's why black separatism is a non-starter.

Absolutely! There are lots of righteous Jews around (well, lots in terms of absolute numbers, not in terms of percentages).

The parallels between the aftermaths of the O.J. Simpson verdict and Jeremiah Wright's sermons are striking and frightening. With Obama headed for the White House the American people need to wake up and smell the reality. For analysis go to

In these "Either Obama is this or that" scenarios, I think something is being left out. It is also possible that Barry is playing everyone. By duping the people in his church through kissing Wright's egotistic butt he set up his "I'm really BLACK too!" platform. At the same time, he was taking tokes off Rezko's political bong and screwing those very same voters with substandard housing scams. Obama is more likely a megalomaniac whose interest is to self only. He will continue to lie to both sides just like he had his assistant do in Canada about NAFTA. Rules mean nothing to a Chicago politician, only results.
