Richwine resigns, but will others follow?
By Jennifer Rubin, Updated: May 10, 2013
Jason Richwine, the co-author of a controversial Heritage study that has invited an avalanche of blistering criticism, has resigned from Heritage, the first step in what will be an effort to contain the damage arising from the report.
Richwine’s dissertation and public comments have postulated that Hispanic people have lower IQs than white people.
His work product, however, has not been withdrawn. Still, it is noteworthy that the American Action Network (which backs the Senate’s Gang of Eight immigration-reform plan and roundly criticized the immigration study) has bought search ads on Google surrounding the Heritage study link. They are driving to a page of quotes from conservatives panning the immigration study.
Aside from effectively sidelining Heritage in the immigration fight, the incident raises questions about Heritage’s president.
Meanwhile, Charles Murray says:
Jason Richwine, guilty of crimethink, "resigns." The bashing from the right has been as mindless as from the left.

Rubin writes:
In part, the incident reflects on DeMint and a cadre of hard-hitting GOP activists and former Hill staffers he brought with him: Ed Corrigan, Wesley Denton and Bret Bernhardt (DeMint’s former Senate chief of staff), who have no think tank experience. Skilled in political opposition and partisan fighting, they are not academics. Corrigan in particular, who was given the elevated title of group vice president, is seen by some Heritage scholars as invading the turf of experienced scholars who cling to the idea that Heritage is a think tank, not simply an adjunct of right-wing PACs. On the Hill, Corrigan worked closely with the conservative steering committee under two chairmen — DeMint and Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), both vehement opponents of immigration reform.
In other words, she wants the good ol' boys replaced by neocons.
Let's get some historic perspective and stop calling them them the right. They are to the right of the current leftist ruling regime (the Cathedral), but they are all espousing left-wing ideas. It is Big Left and Little Left. Some times Little Left wins and slows things down, but Big Left always gets what it wants in the end. The only exception is when the Right puts its foot down, such as on guns and the prior immigration bills.
Is Rubin pro-"immigration reform" for Palestine? Like maybe letting people who actually resided on that land and became refugees through the Zionist invasion return to their homes.
I'm calling for a campaign to have Jennifer Rubin fired from the Washington Post at least as the author of "right turn." Let's give the Gang of Eight a taste of what's coming.
Everyone reading should throw Steve a few (more) bucks. If he goes off the air then we're really lost.
I also want to take up the cause of immigration reform for Palestine. Let's get Rubin on board!
Why does anyone think Rubin is "on the right"? She was hired by the liberal WaPo to do EXACTLY what is she is doing.
That is, under the GUISE of being "conservative" attack any REAL conservative who opposes anything Liberals hold dear.
False flag anyone?
Jennifer Rubin is just a white woman who hates, hates, hates beta white men like Richwine. If Richwine were sexy, sexy, sexy, he could have said whatever he pleased. He needs to up his game.
Well played sir.
It's unbearably depressing to hear the views of people like Jennifer Rubin or David Brooks. And those disingenuous radio ads by Marco Rubio, who's going to be TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH on those illegals. He's even worked up a tough guy voice!
It makes you feel like Kevin McCarthy at the end of "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers."
After watching "Dawn of the Dead," my teenaged daughter said to me, "Wouldn't it be easier just to become a zombie?"
That's where we're going . . .
Is that caricature of Jennifer Rubin from the Stormfront.org.
"Jennifer Rubin is just a white woman who hates, hates, hates beta white men like Richwine"
She's an anti-white Jewish racist paid to masquerade as a fake conservative.

If the Palestinians did that, wouldn't Israel's Jews exercise their Right of Return to the US and the rest of the West? Do you really want millions of Jews showing up stateside and elsewhere in the West?
Richwine’s dissertation and public comments have postulated that Hispanic people have lower IQs than white people.
It is not a postulation, it is a factual statement with verifiable data. If she wants to say that IQ is a moot point because it doesn't actually measure intelligence, that at least, is arguable. But here, she's being disingenuous.
WTF happened to David Brooks? If you're reading this David, know that I, a former reader, have lost all respect for you as a man and as a journalist.

"Richwine’s dissertation and public comments have postulated that Hispanic people have lower IQs than white people."
... And that's all there is to say! Done. (Even if he is actually correct.)
Please watch on Richwine and learn!
Mr Sailer,
In this post, you said:
Their second paragraph is an important social science finding and should be cited in immigration debates.
I think most people -- maybe even Ms Rubin! -- would accept that IQ and academic achievement are related. So, basically, you got your wish (albeit Richwine's formulation was about as un-PC as it's possible to be). And what was the result?
I admit I LOL'd when I read your remark -- trying to imagine a congressperson saying in a floor debate 'We can't amnesty all those Mexicans because even generations later their kids don't go to college'.
Not only is anything HBD-related not part of the 'immigration debate', it probably never will be because it is absolutely anathema -- such considerations are forcefully excluded, and anyone who violates that will no longer be part of the 'immigration debate'. It's that simple.
One thing that I have trouble fitting in with all the other observations:
Larry Summers got in really hot water - but he is Scots/Irish, and comes from the elite that other elites would presumably protect.
How did those people work up the nerve to protest him? What lesson can we learn here, if any?
It's worth noting that Rush Limbaugh defended Richwine on his radio show on Friday. A brief excerpt from the transcript:
"Part 2 [of Richwine's PhD thesis] delves into the empirical research comparing IQs of native born American populations with that of immigrant groups with the Hispanic population broken out, and then he explores the causes of an immigrant IQ deficit that appears to persist among Hispanic immigrants to the US through several generations.
He didn't make it up. He didn't invent it. This is not some premise. This is not like global warming, where these guys have a premise, go out and do research and then fake it. He had a premise, he researched it, and this is what he found. And when it was published, nobody had a problem with it. But now that it's in the Heritage report criticizing the Gang of Eight's immigration bill, all hell has broken loose. Poor guy, Jason Richwine, I don't think he had the slightest idea what was gonna happen to him. He's like so many on our side. He's now under assault, and I guarantee you not one person in his life has ever accused him of racism, bigotry, any of that. And he's sitting there scratching, "What the hell?" He's getting his taste of it now. This is what happens to conservatives in America today."
Gloating over what exactly? Yes she "outed" him as a contributor to alt right magazine. But does it really an intensive investigative journalism ? Its really google search these days isnt it?

Excellent point. She wouldn't dare actually go out and interview Richwine and others. She might find her worldview challenged.

I'm not sure what you find mysterious about Larry Summers. His advances in life can be explained by two things: his acknowledged brilliance, and, to a lesser extent, his fortune to be associated with the Clinton-era economic boom. And his declines in life can be explained by his acknowledged lack of personal skills including tact.
Being the president of a university is essentially being a salesman (to potential donors), and Summers isn't a salesman, so he wasn't a great pick for the job. The paucity-of-women-in-science kerfuffle was a convenient excuse to cashier him. Being Jewish is no amulet against violations of political correctness.
Similarly, Summers' lack of personal skills caused him problems in the Obama White House. He is back in roles where his intellect helps him more than his personality hurts him: tenured Harvard economics professor and black box hedge fund consultant.
Here's Rubin's contemporaneous apology for highly-networked neocon Victoria Nuland after the latter's exit stage left following the AT&T/Boeing re-inauguration party. Nuland, apparently, was the one a few months earlier to obstruct the FBI team suiting up to investigate some charred remains of U.S. property in Libya (deferred due to the YouTube campaign); worth remembering that Rubin considers this sort of person an exemplar of "professionalism." Here is Rubin from 2011, touting the broad cross-partisan support for releasing freelance spy scumbag Jonathan Pollard--yes, back when Pollard Fever was sweeping the land. Anyway that's what I get after 5 minutes or so in Google--anyone with a half-hour to spare could probably surpass my haul there
Why did he resign exactly?
I know that the media has been talking about this, but in his shoes I'd just turn off the TV and not pay any attention to it.
Did someone at this foundation tell him he had to resign?
I just don't get it. Why does anyone do anything because some talking heads are blathering on?
And to be blunt, the only people who have even heard of this thing are the usual suspects.
I guess my situation is different. I don't read any of these writers unless there is a link to it and the premise looks interesting. I don't watch any of the pundit shows either.
From my viewpoint it is baffling to me why anyone cares what David Brooks or this Rubin lady think.
If she were on the warpath about something I wrote, I'd never know unless someone told me.
Yeah, that WashingtonPost.com toon of Rubin ought to be forwarded to Simon Wiesenthal if he's still around--classic anti-Semitic propaganda likening a Jew to a meerkat. However I respect their decision not to use her Twitter headshot, on public decency grounds
"Is that caricature of Jennifer Rubin from the Stormfront.org?"
No, it's from the Washington Post blog, but thanks for asking!

I use to buy into the media caricature of Limbaugh, big drug addled racist buffoon playing on the racist fears of white males. Then I actually listened to him and found him quite intelligent, making well reasoned points infinitely better than Hannity who I find pretty dimwitted. So now I catch a couple of snippets of his show during lunch. I definitely see the appeal and he is 100% right about Richwine.

At least from the Establishment Right. The paleocon right has been saying the same thing as Richwine and backing it up with solid evidence for at least a couple of decades.
It's not just the mainstream media that's caricatured Rush; I recall some commenters on this site or Half Sigma's old site doing so too. Rush is smart and funny and authentic - you may not agree with everything he says, but at least he agrees with it. And he has balls.
Who is Jennifer Rubin? She emerged from complete obscurity a few years ago and was instantly awarded columns with a wide variety of outlets, including National Review and The Washington Post. It's obviously not due to her brilliant prose style or fresh and insightful writing - she's a hack who obediently regurgitates the conventional neocon line. But she's clearly a hack who is connected/related to somebody with juice.

I'm going to bet someone told to resign or get kicked out.
Never underestimate the power of Establishment groupthink. Rubin and Brooks may both be repugnant swine, but you have to understand that they represent the opinions of a whole lot of powerful people, if not a majority.
If the Palestinians did that, wouldn't Israel's Jews exercise their Right of Return to the US and the rest of the West? Do you really want millions of Jews showing up stateside and elsewhere in the West?
In order of preference:
1. We use reciprocal pressure to force American Jews to back off the open-borders thing and instead support closing America's borders, in return for letting up on open borders for Israel.
2. We can't stop Jews from sinking our ship, and sink theirs in revenge.
"...the incident raises questions about Heritage’s president..."
Yup. Richwine went down too quickly, too easily. The mob smells blood and is not yet fatigued. Richwine's boss is next.
You can expect the Salem Radio Network talk show hosts will parrot the neocon line. Prager, Medved, Hewitt...they're all a bunch of girly men.
"Jason Richwine, guilty of crimethink, "resigns." The bashing from the right has been as mindless as from the left."
Clearly, Jennifer Rubin is not really "of the right". She is of the Republican wing of the permanent hostile elite.
The Establishment Right is merely the low tax wing of the Aristocrats. There is no real difference otherwise between them and the other elites. Status mongering, Puritan/Viking social conformity, all there.
As for Rubin, YES she would happily argue for Open Borders in Israel. Anyone doubting that Israel's elites and SWPL are JUST LIKE Americas need only check the comments and stories in the Jerusalem Post and other English Language Israeli papers online. I read a while back (sorry no linky) an extensive story with photos by SWPL woman in Israel deriding "racist" ordinary Jews for wanting the Somalis and Ethiopians sent back. It was straight out of Peter Hitchens. This is basically elite-disease. EVERY elite has it, China's (filling cities with poison air, rivers with dead pigs, rat meat, and yes I'm not making this up, sold as mutton, infant formula filled with poison, and 1788 style aristocratic exemption from basic laws like murder), Israel's, and ours. China has giant AA for the Hui Muslims, for various ethnicities, deeply resented by the Han majority.
There is something about post WWII modernity, technology, and social organization that makes Elites HATE HATE HATE their people, from China to Israel to the US.
You ask most US Jews, they'd be happy if Israel were nuked out of existence, their troublesome working class cousins exterminated, or Israel subsumed by mass African migration. It is just in Israel the margin is so thin, that the elites can't get their way no matter how much the status-whore. Status whoring has little effect when you regularly get rocketed. And every peace overture is met by an Intifada.
The real lesson of Israel is that sanity only breaks out when survival is at stake.

Yeah, right. "Puritan" and "Viking" were the first things that leapt to mind in considering Ms. Rubin's style of rhetoric.
"As for Rubin, YES she would happily argue for Open Borders in Israel."
From her Wikipedia entry: "Rubin consistently supports the Likud government and other conservative factions in Israel,..." Granted, this is from Wikipedia, but it is probably not wrong on this score. In which case, you ARE wrong.
"You ask most US Jews, they'd be happy if Israel were nuked out of existence, their troublesome working class cousins exterminated, or Israel subsumed by mass African migration....."
What utter horseshit. Do you ever get tired of lying? Does your mendacity know no limits?
And just when, Jock Ian Angus Hamish MacHaggis, are you ever going to pipe up about an issue that effects the sons of the land of St. Andrew with half so much enthusiasm as you do when the subject is Israel or Jews. From your preferred subject matter, I can only conclude that you HHH Scotsmen.
As for Rubin, YES she would happily argue for Open Borders in Israel. Anyone doubting that Israel's elites and SWPL are JUST LIKE Americas need only...
Gee, I guess you must be right.
From the horse's mouth:
“What do I believe in? For starters: American exceptionalism, limited government, free markets, a secure and thriving Jewish state, defense of freedom and human rights around the world, enforced borders with a generous legal immigration policy...
--Jennifer Rubin
How do you reconcile a "generous immigration policy" and a Jewish state? How do you reconcile "enforced borders" (for Israel?) with amnesty?
Here's more background from a profile of her:
Rubin often uses her Post perch to attack both Republicans and Democrats whom she deems insufficiently supportive of Israel and weak on U.S. defense. She has attacked Dennis Ross, a former Middle East adviser in the Barack Obama administration known for his decidedly “pro-Israel” advocacy, for being delusional in his willingness to work for Obama[2]; criticized Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for his opposition to the use of torture[3]; and accused Sarah Palin of losing her way on U.S. security policy after parting ways with “experienced neoconservative foreign policy advisers Randy Scheunemann and Michael Goldfarb.”[4]
We need to dig up some crap on Rubio and other members of the Gang of Eight.
Transitions can be dangerous. Rubin, eightists, and various others trying to push Old America to extinction. I mean, who cackle with glee that white people won't be able to stop or reverse race replacement because old white boomers, will finally die off. Then they'll start gloating that the young generation of whites are so burdened with student loan debt that they won't be able to afford large families, if they haven't been completely debt-sterilized. The economy won't function well, so nobody will be fooled that the there's a labor shortage. They'll straight up say we need immigrants to have children. They might even do a 180 on IQ and heredity. Oopsie, Hispanics are dumb. We need better immigrants to have smart babies.
That's a risky stage. When they have to admit that post 1965(?) immigration, turning Hispanic squatters into citizens turned out badly, and that the only cure for immigration is more immigration.
That's when it will be very important that there are no alternatives to the mono-elite. It doesn't matter if rednecks and white trash were against it. The NYT editorial page will say, sure it didn't work, but breaking America was a consensus. No one is to blame. They'll say that some people warned us about heredity, intelligence and race, but they all recanted.
There's a very interesting NYT article about adoptive parents who were 100% nurture blank slate types when they adopted their son. He developed schizophrenia in his mid-twenties. They are very upset that adoption agency humored them.

Sailer redacted part of a comment in which I praised some liberals for being intelligent, decent people who really do love their country. People who might feel betrayed if they realize that people like Ms. Rubin do not actually support free speech as a right. So I'll just say that lots of Environmentalist, free-speech type liberals are foul people who might come over to our side if it suits there interests.
The real lesson of Israel is that sanity only breaks out when survival is at stake.
So, assuming, as it appears, Israel's policy is as sane as ours is insane, we're not there yet (survival mode, I mean). What, when the water gets to our nose we get to emulate a policy of national interest? Criticize trans-national elite hypocrisy? Can I start when it's at my neck? After all, I'm going to need my breath to speak
Yeah, any day now I expect the dam to break and Israel to adopt the proposition nation model. Here comes Glenn Greenwald and his hordes. Bibi and his coalition with the right is all that stands athwart them! If that's the case, forget cynically arming Syria's "rebels", let's cause some real trouble and arm (morally) those who fight to bring freedom and tolerance to Israel! Two can play that game.
You say Ms Rubin--of course!--would support open borders for Israel. Well, why don't we ask her? I mean, I'm sure there's no guile in her silence.
Oh, she's "American" and under no obligation (we must not presume anything!)--God help us, we're at our most child-like when we're mimicking reasonable arguments.
the only cure for immigration is more immigration.
rob, this argument is already being made. And variants of it are recognized, but are not quite made explicit, in terms of keeping our bubble economy and fiscal posture going:
"We need more immigration to prop up the housing market."
"We need more immigration to fund government and social security."
Reading the comments at WaPo makes me sad. Leftism is a vile and dogmatic religion. Most leftists are fanatics without the ability to reason; they get very angry if someone questions the tenets of political correctness.
Liberals want to destroy not only conservatism, but conservatives. They want to destroy their careers, families, and lives. Unless we do the same, or worse, to them, they will keep winning.
"Liberals want to destroy not only conservatism, but conservatives."
Why bother? Conservatives are doing a great job on their own.
"Liberals want to destroy not only conservatism, but conservatives. They want to destroy their careers, families, and lives. Unless we do the same, or worse, to them, they will keep winning."
Chechens are cool.
