Central America, with the exception of Costa Rica and Panama, makes Mexico look thriving and wealthy. They also have spectacularly high crime rates and abysmal levels of education even compared to Mexico. The chances that the US will cease to look enticing to them any time soon are slim.

Guatemala still has a TFR of 4 - meaning its 14 million people will double in a generation, and land is already so scarce that peasants grow corn on land so steep they need to tether themselves by a rope while working on it.

Two weeks ago, when watching "A Capitol Fourth" on PBS, Neil Diamond sang this, I thought Schumer and Rubio should've gotten up and done a duet.

If they are taking a train, why don't they just ride it up to Canada? They seem to be craving vibrancy, and lacking in hard workers.

What are blacks in America really angry about after the GZ verdict? Perhaps some of them believe the hype about blacks being preyed on by racist whites, but maybe the real issue is something else, something more abstract yet more genuine: they are angry because they perceive that they have lost status in America. A black president was supposed to increase the status of blacks in this country, but maybe many blacks are coming to understand that their relative status is, in fact, dwindling. Who was TM angry at during the GM encounter? Someone he thought might be gay. Why did the rioters in Baltimore yesterday attack a Hispanic, not a white, and say “This is for Trayvon?”

I read about that too, actually the left in the US were a little right there should have been some land reform about 30 years ago but since the land reformers in Central America were leftist or not too effective like Daniel O in Nicaragua nothing much developed. Costa Rica is a liberal paradise since it does a lot of tourism and is heavily into environmentalism.

Guatemala doesn't use birth control that much while Mexicans are increasing using it and since Mexicans in the States are becoming more to the left politically and leaving Catholicism that mans they could at least dropped to the black level of 2 kids per family.

I mention this anywhere I get an opening: elite whites use immigration to further insulate themselves from restive American blacks; perforce, American blacks lose a step with every new ethnic group that comes in, including Africans.

By the time this is over and everybody is fighting for their little bit of arable land and water supply, American blacks will be reminiscing fondly on the glory days of "white America."

This point needs to be raised repeatedly until TPTB get it. Global population is not a zero sum game, meaning the population of Africa or Guatemala will be reduced if we take in more immigrants. By taking in their poor, we encourage their women to have more children and also indirectly encourage White women to have fewer babies. We delayed Mexico's maturation by decades by allowing an invasion to occur.

I've been thinking the same thing. Gays have already charged way ahead of them in the victim stakes. Now Hispanics outnumber them, and will outnumber them 2-1 soon after amnesty. Any blacks who want to keep their affirmative action jobs have to wonder how this will affect their quotas. Those on welfare might wonder whether their share of the pie will shrink. Blacks only outrank Hispanics politically because Hispanics haven't cared as much (so far) and because of white guilt over slavery. If that changes and they become the third-ranked victim group right as government defaults start creating fights over the pie, they could find themselves in a bad spot.

Not that I expect a noticeable number of them to start opposing immigration or anything.

The Asians have been moving in and unlike whites they don't always prefer Hispanics which means that Hispanics will have more competition for low skilled jobs. Real estate ads by a Chinese American show ads even for Mission Viejo white city that has the second group still Hispanic and not Asian.

You might be onto something. But I don't think it's about being "lowered", since they've always seen themselves as being mercilessly chained to the bottom by evil whites.

If anything, it's about other groups "skipping the line" to prosperity. It's the mindset they had against Koreans prior to the 1992 riots. Since blacks have been here longer, then blacks should be more prosperous than some newcomers. "It's our turn."

Of course, it's completely illogical if you don't factor in hard work, crime rates, etc., but who cares about logic?

Coming to your neighborhood, Steve.

The new thing is that many Central Americans now switch trains a little north of Mexico City and head west to Guadalajara, then onto Mexicali or Nogales.

It's gets up to 120 degrees in the deserts of N.W. Mexico, but the route is safer than the N.E. route to Texas.

The article below also says that the dominant cartel in N.W. Mexico,the Sinaloa Cartel, doesn't abuse the migrants like the Los Zetas in the N.E.

The big story today in Mexico is the capture of el numero uno de Los Zetas.

They got him yesterday a little south of Nuevo Lardeo. They're going to charge him with those massacres of Central American immigrants a couple years ago:

Well, Belize is also nice, and frankly Nicaragua isn't as bad as it used to be. But, on balance, you're definitely right - Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala are straight-up trash-holes. Other than Haiti, the worst places in the Americas. Many people don't realize that about Mexicans make up only about half of illegal Latino immigrants, and less than half of the truly awful ones - the MS-13 gang, for instance, is Salvadoran.

I've often thought about big-picture "cut our losses" solutions. Bribing Panama and Colombia to entice them in the other direction? Building a giant double-thick wall with a moat between Mexico and Guatemala? It's a much easier border to patrol.

Of course, if this picture is to be believe, a hard iron overpass about 16 feet high would solve a lot of our problems.

This is true, but I never understood Mexicans. They lived in La or Orange or San Diego where some of them live in garages since they couldn't afford the rent without living with someone else and they had more kids than in Mexico. Asians like the Vietnamese or Koreans had less kids in the same geographic location, it must have been the Catholicism on the Mexicans.
