The Open Borders movement seeks a symbol that embodies the spirit of free migration. To achieve that goal, we are sponsoring a logo contest. The winner of this contest will get $200 and their design will become the official logo of the Open Borders web site.
The goal: Create a simple logo, like the peace sign, that represents free migration.
How to enter: Go to the Open Borders Logo Contest Facebook page and post your image. Join the group and send me a message so I can add you. Then, you can post.
The criteria for selection: We seek something that is simple and powerful. Think of an image that a person with little artistic skill could paint on a sign or banner.
Who will choose the winner: The Open Borders website editors and the contest sponsors (Bryan Caplan and myself).

No borders means nothing. It is like trying to draw a picture without lines. You need to put down a line in order to define a thing, otherwise it is no thing.
I don't get this reverence for the military we have going on now, coupled with open borders? How does this military rah-rah square with the idea that countries are old fashioned and in particular, the idea that the US with its per capita GDP of 46,000 and generous welfare should open itself up like a newly drunk teenage girl eager to be popular? Why have a military at all? What is the point of defending the United States if we don't even engage in the the most basic of all country construction...protect the lines that form the country?
Is the US Military for another purpose? Could it possibly be that all those southern guys who are way overrepresented in the military are being fooled into fighting for what they think is the US but they are fighting for something else? Certainly not something so declasse' as a 'country.'
We sure aren't spending 39% of the world's military expenditures protecting our borders.

It's good, but a little too "on the nose".
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
Libtardarians - people who think the average IQ of the world is 120.
the question is, how many NON-ironical votes will you get?
Caplan is the spokesman we want *these people* tp have. If you've seen him speak, you'll see that he has the charisma of a particularly spergy science fair winner. I hope they put him on Spanish language TV, when the invaders see him, they'll insist on shutting the door behind themselves.

Three kids pile on a kid who doesn't fight back but only yelps for help, but CNN calls it a 'fight'. CNN surely would not have if races were reversed. If three white kids did this to a black kid, the media would be calling this a near-lynching.
The simple and obvious choice would be the white flag of surrender - the ancient (it dates from Roman times)and universally acknowledged symbol of the defeated army that has had enough and simply thrown in the towel and thus rely on the mercy of their conquerors.
I'll go a step further. The USA should replace the stars and stripes with the plain white surrender flag. It must be flown, prominently at every single port, airport and road crossing. After all it shows the towel has well and truly been thrown in and the immigrationists have won - plus the pludering hordes can come freely, without let or hindrance and do their plundering safe in the knowledge that no army will lift a finger to stop them.
And anyway,if the whole world can plonk themselves down freely in the USA just because they want to then surely the logical collory is that the USA is simply not a nation with a national government in any meaningful way shape or form.
What's the point of having a national flag if you don't have a nation to defend?
Since time immemorial many, many nations have adpoted the eagle as their national symbol.
It's easy to see why, the 'king of the birds' inspires awe by its magnificence, power, beauty and extraordinary powers. It is feared by many and fears none, the avain equivalent of the attack helicopter but only better.
The Romans were eagle adpoters as were the Germans, the Russians, the Austrains and the Poles and of course we must tip our hats to the good ol' venerable bald eagle the symbol of the states sice revolutionary times, whose beaky profile is incorporated in the CIA badge, amongst others. (Actually baldie is one eagle that has bad press amongst the twitchers, the ultimate sacrilege of describing him as a 'fish robber' has been committed by some profane individuals).
Saying all that, as a counterpoint to the eagle, the vulture another big bold flesh-eater, has never been adopted by any nation as far as I am aware. His dining habits don't seem to elicit much admiration amongst constructors of national myths, but I suggest the symbolism (ie picking off dead carrion for an easy meal) is just too strong not to dissociate from the immigrationists.

Something GOP can run on in 2012.
One of main reasons why Americans move is to get away from blacks.
Picture a commons: trampled mud, a few small tufts of grass here and there, and a lot of rubbish lying around.
How about replacing the American flag with the United Nations logo? After all, all nations should have open borders. That might get them thinking.

It's not going to win.
I made a couple of humble submissions to it.
Yours is better than mine. I was gonna submit the US flag with a big X across it (having considered a US flag with a huge Greek capital omega Ω on it, but decided that would be too obscure). Now I won't bother. Anyway, your choice just shows again why you're the champ! Thank you.
P.S., did you see what happened when I suggested California's old "caution: wetbacks jaywalking on freeway" sign in a comment at Econlog? "Fabio Rojas" thought I was on his side. What a maroon!
You're pretty funny sometimes, Steve Sailer.
World War Z... Z for Zionism.
Conatus:
There is no more US military in the sense of a national military devoted to protecting the nation's territorial integrity. Just look up the US military services' public websites.
Navy: "A global force for good"
Air Force: "Your idea could change everything" (for something called the "Collaboratory")
The Army website is a cluttered, buggy mess, primarily devoted to advertising all the gummint bennies. The Big Green Welfare Machine, indeed.
The Marines have a new ad campaign, "Towards Chaos"
To Respond Quickly and Decisively
In the Midst of Chaos and Uncertainty.
And When the Time Comes
They are the First to Move
Toward the Sounds of
Tyranny
Injustice
And Despair.
They are the First to Move
Toward the Sounds of Chaos
Because the Only Things Louder Than the Sounds of Chaos
Are the Sounds of the Few Moving Toward Them
The US military has been deconstructed and recast as a global police force. It is, in fact, the enforcement arm of the Pax Americana, like the Pax Romana before it. And it will end the same way.
Caplan is the spokesman we want *these people* tp have. If you've seen him speak, you'll see that he has the charisma of a particularly spergy science fair winner.
The substance of what he says (recognizing no non-contractual obligations or loyalties outside of his 1st degree relatives - and they're a commodity too, aren't they?) is so strange and disconcerting that it would not surprise me to discover that an abnormal psychology maven found him an arresting test subject.
And, yes, he is repellant. When Caplan speaks, the motives and dispositions of a section of his sort are laid bare. You do not need someone like Morton Downey Jr. berating him until he blurts out what he really thinks without rhetorical trumpery.
I would be pleased if the man would self-deport, but what other country would want him bar as a paid consultant?
Actually, Steve's logo would have made the perfect emblem for the Obama campaign.
"Caplan is the spokesman we want *these people* tp have. If you've seen him speak, you'll see that he has the charisma of a particularly spergy science fair winner."
If you do a Google image search of him you'll see that he also apparently only owns one jacket and tie. He's wearing it in almost every photo.
"Think of an image that a person with little artistic skill could paint on a sign or banner. " Or the bathroom wall of a prison!
Very nice work.

Proof that open borders reduce wages...
"The days of being able to make a full-time living out of prostitution are long gone, reckons Vivienne, at least in larger towns and cities. “It’s stupidly competitive right now,” she laments. More people are entering prostitution, agrees Cari Mitchell of the English Collective of Prostitutes. Some working women in Westminster say they have halved their prices because the market has become so saturated. In London, and increasingly elsewhere, immigrants provide strong competition."

An American flag underneath a rainbow of various shades of brown.
Thank you.
I am sure you saw Drudge and the Variety headline calling Blomkamps Elysium the most socialist open borders movie ever.
So, how is that a mark of Hollywood not being hyper liberal?
Really, the gang of 8 bill is the State(government) getting guest workers for business groups, how unlibertarian is that.
I have two suggestions:
1. A red banner proudly bearing the phrase, "L'Asper-nationale sera le genre humain!"
2. The letter "r" with a green checkmark next to it, and the letter "K" crossed out in red.
As a logo for open borders, I would suggest whatever symbol cruising homosexuals are now using to indicate their "receiver" status.
A line drawing of continental US on white background. From the four cardinal directions are four large black arrows that point inward. The arrows have very broad heads, almost the width of the picture. The arrows go halfway in to the map, obscuring most of it.
Twenty 'people' figures like on bathroom doors. On the right half are 18 dark figures. On the left are 2 pink figures. Each of the 18 dark figures has a thin line tipped with an arrow drawn to the pink figures.
A graph depicting the population growth of US, with future projection. The projected line plot goes up and well outside the border of the graph grid and is tipped with an arrowhead. A caption could read: "Moar peepul!!11!"
The words "0 population growth" in stencil. The 0 is modified with a spray paint graffiti style to become the infinity symbol.
The crossed-out U.S. flag is barely satire. This is Vipul Naik's political self-description on his facebook page:
Political Views: Libertarian (Small "l" libertarian, somewhat close to a classical liberal, with some sympathies to anarcho-capitalism if it is shown to be feasible. Not a fan of piety, patriotism, and similar forms of group affiliation)
Maybe in the spirit of this guy, Caplan, et. al., we could junk the star-spangled banner and have a brief seminar-style discussion in our parks and stadiums prior to sporting events. Superior form of group affiliation.
Finally some good news. With the malaria vaccine nearing completion, the possibility of recolonizing much of the world becomes a reality. Thanks Bill Gates.
I would be pleased if the man would self-deport, but what other country would want him bar as a paid consultant?
That's genius! Weaponizing Bryan Caplan by exporting him as a kind of ideological termite to undermine the foundations of whomever you want to invade or destroy. Kind of like how there is some evidence that the original idea for the Christians came from some Jewish sect that died out, but then Saul hit upon the idea of proselytizing Christianity to the Romans as a way of destroying them from within. At least, I think that's how the idea went. But Caplanism may be far more potent.
